SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1482 | Narrated Ubai Bin Umar: Abu Mousa asked permission to enter upon Umar; but seeing that he was busy; he went away. Umar then said; Didnt I hear the voice of Abdullah Bin Qais? Allow him to come in. He was called in and Umar said to him; What made you do what you did. He replied; We have been instructed thus by the Prophet Umar said; Bring proof witness for this; other wise I will do so-and-so to you. Then Abdullah Bin Qais went to a gathering of the Ansar who then said; None but the youngest of us will give the witness for it. So Abu Saeed AlKhudri got up and said; We used to be instructed thus by the Prophet. Umar said; This tradition of the Prophet ﷺ remained hidden from me. Business in the market kept me busy. | The Chapter on Alansar And Booty in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Some Companions did not witness certain deeds or did hear certain saying of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1483 | Narrated AlAraj: Abu Huraira said; You people claim that Abu Huraira narrates many narrations of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Anyhow with Allah will be our appointment. I was a poor man; and used to stick to Allah Messenger ﷺ contented with what will fill my stomach; and the Muhajirin emigrants used to be busy trading in the markets; and the Ansar used to be busy looking after their properties. One-day I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; Who will spread his Rida a garment covering the upper part of the body till I finished my speech and then fold it; i.e. wrap it over your body ; in which case he will never forget anything he had heard from me. So I spread my garment which I was wearing; and by Him Who sent Muhammad with the Truth; ever since; I have never forgotten whatever I heard from him the Prophet See; Hadith No. 119; Vol. 1 | The Chapter on Garments Selling And Buying in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Some Companions did not witness certain deeds or did hear certain saying of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2704 | Narrated Sahl: When AlMundhir Bin Abu Usaid was born; he was brought to the Prophet ﷺ who placed him on his thigh. While Abu Usaid was sitting there; the Prophet ﷺ was busy with something in his hands so Abu Usaid told someone to take his son from the thigh of the Prophet ﷺ. When the Prophet ﷺ finished his job with which he was busy ; he said; Where is the boy? Abu Usaid replied; We have sent him home. The Prophet ﷺ said; What is his name? Abu Usaid said; His name is so-and-so. The Prophet ﷺ said; No; his name is AlMundhir. So he called him AlMundhir from that day. | The Chapter on Sons And Children in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To change a name for better name in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5086 | Narrated Abu Huraira: The people say that Abu Huraira narrates too many narrations. In fact Allah knows whether I say the truth or not. They also ask; Why do the emigrants and the Ansar not narrate as he does? In fact; my emigrant brethren were busy trading in the markets; and my Ansar brethren were busy with their properties. I was a poor man keeping the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and was satisfied with what filled my stomach. So; I used to be present while they i.e. the emigrants and the Ansar were absent; and I used to remember while they forgot the Hadith. One day the Prophet ﷺ said; Whoever spreads his sheet till I finish this statement of mine and then gathers it on his chest; will never forget anything of my statement. So; I spread my covering sheet which was the only garment I had; till the Prophet ﷺ finished his statement and then I gathered it over my chest. By Him Who had sent him i.e. Allah Apostle with the truth; since then I did not forget even a single word of that statement of his; until this day of mine. By Allah; but for two verses in Allah Book; I would never have related any narration from the Prophet. These two verses are : Verily! Those who conceal the clear signs and the guidance which we have sent down..... up to the Merciful. 2.159-160 | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Companions In Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What is said about planting trees in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5323 | Narrated Abu Huraira: You people say that Abu Huraira tells many narrations from Allah Messenger ﷺ and you also wonder why the emigrants and Ansar do not narrate from Allah Messenger ﷺ as Abu Huraira does. My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to Allah Messenger ﷺ content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget; and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffa. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget. No doubt; Allah Messenger ﷺ once said; Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself; will remember whatever I will say. So; I spread my colored garment which I was wearing till Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his saying; and then I gathered it to my chest. So; I did not forget any of that narrations. | The Chapter on Alansar And Dirhams in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What has come in the Statement of Allah Taala Then when the Salat is ended you may disperse through the land and seek the Bounty of Allah in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5337 | Narrated Ubaid Bin Umair: Abu Mousa asked Umar to admit him but he was not admitted as Umar was busy; so Abu Mousa went back. When Umar finished his job he said; Didnt I hear the voice of Abdullah Bin Qais? Let him come in. Umar was told that he had left. So; he sent for him and on his arrival; he Abu Mousa said; We were ordered to do so i.e. to leave if not admitted after asking permission thrice. Umar told him; Bring witness in proof of your statement. Abu Mousa went to the Ansar meeting places and asked them. They said; None amongst us will give this witness except the youngest of us; Abu Saeed AlKhudri. Abu Mousa then took Abu Saeed AlKhudri to Umar and Umar said; surprisingly; Has this order of Allah Messenger ﷺ been hidden from me? Then he added ; I used to be busy trading in markets. | The Chapter on Wishes And Admittance in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Going out for Trading in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6174 | Narrated Abu Huraira: People say that I have narrated many Hadiths The Prophet narration. Had it not been for two verses in the Quran; I would not have narrated a single Hadith; and the verses are: Verily those who conceal the clear sign and the guidance which We have sent down... up to Most Merciful. 2:159-160. And no doubt our Muhajir emigrant brothers used to be busy in the market with their business bargains and our Ansari brothers used to be busy with their property agriculture. But I Abu Huraira used to stick to Allah Messenger ﷺ contented with what will fill my stomach and I used to attend that which they used not to attend and I used to memorize that which they used not to memorize. | The Chapter on Family And Judgments in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What is said regarding the memorization of religious knowledge in Sahih AlBukhari |

SahihMuslim-017-001-19333 | Hanzala Usayidi; who was amongst the scribes of Allah Messenger ﷺ. reported: I met Abu Bakr. He said: Who are you? He Hanzala said: Hanzala has turned to be a hypocrite. He Abu Bakr said: Hallowed be Allah; what are you saying? Thereupon he said: I say that when we are in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ we ponder over Hell-Fire and Paradise as if we are seeing them with our very eyes and when we are away from Allah Messenger ﷺ we attend to our wives; our children; our business; most of these things pertaining to After-life slip out of our minds. Abu Bakr said: By Allah; I also experience the same. So I and Abu Bakr went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said to him: Allah Messenger; Hanzala has turned to be a hypocrite. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: What has happened to you? I said: Allah Messenger; when we are in your company; we are reminded of Hell-Fire and Paradise as if we are seeing them with our own eyes; but whenever we go away from you and attend to our wives; children and business; much of these things go out of our minds. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life; if your state of mind remains the same as it is in my presence and you are always busy in remembrance of Allah ; the Angels will shake hands with you in your beds and in your paths but; Hanzala; time should be devoted to the worldly affairs and time should be devoted to prayer and meditation. SahihMuslim-017-001-19680 | Abu Huraira reported Allah Apostle ﷺ as saying: None spoke in the cradle but only three persons ; Christ son of Mary; the second one the companion of Juraij. Juraij had got constructed a temple and confined himself in that. His mother came to him as he was busy in prayer and she said: Juraij. He said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in my prayer. He continued with the prayer. She returned and she came on the next day and he was busy in prayer; and she said: Juraij. And he said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in prayer; and he continued with the prayer and she went back; and then on the next day she again came and he was busy in prayer and she said: Juraij. And he said: My Lord; my mother is calling me while I am engaged in my prayer; and he continued with the prayer; and she said: My Lord; dont give him death unless he has seen the fate of the prostitutes. The story of Juraij and that of his meditation and prayer gained currency amongst Bani Israil. There was a prostitute who had been a beauty incarnate. She said to the people : If you like I can allure him to evil. She presented herself to him but he paid no heed to her. She came to a shepherd who lived near the temple and she offered herself to him and he had a sexual intercourse with her and so she became pregnant arid when she gave birth to a child she said: This is from Juraij. So they came and asked him to get down and demolished the temple and began to beat him. He said: What is the matter? They said: You have committed fornication with this prostitute and she has given birth to a child from your loins. He said: Where is the child? They brought him the child and he said: just leave me so that I should observe prayer. And he observed prayer and when he finished; he came to the child. He struck his stomach and said: O boy; who is your father? lie said: He is such shepherd. So they turned towards Juraij; kissed him and touched him for seeking blessing and said: We are prepared to construct your temple with gold. He said. No; just rebuild it with mud as it had been; and they did that. Then there was a babe who was sucking his mother that a person dressed in fine garment came riding upon a beast. His mother said: O Allah; make my child like this one. He the babe left sucking and began to see towards him; and said: O Allah; dont make me like him. He then returned to the chest and began to suck the milk of his mother. He Abu Huraira said: I perceived as if I am seeing Allah Messenger ﷺ as he is explaining the scene of his sucking milk with his forefinger in his mouth and sucking that. He Abu Huraira further reported Allah Apostle may be peace upon him as saying: There happened to pass by him a girl who was being beaten and they were saying: You have committed adultery and you have committed theft and she was saying: Allah is enough for me and He is my good Protector; and his mother said: O Allah; dont make my child like her and he left sucking the milk; and looked towards her and said: O Allah; make me like her; and there was a talk between them. She said: O with shaven head; a good-looking person happened to pass by and I said: O Allah; make my child like him; and you said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they passed by a girl while they were beating her and saying: You committed fornication and you committed theft; and I said: O Allah; dont make my child like her; and you said: O Allah; make me like her. Thereupon he said: That person was a tyrant; and I said: O Allah; dont make me like him; and they were saying about her: You committed fornication whereas in fact she had not committed that and they were saying: You have committed theft whereas she had not committed theft; so I said: O Allah; make me like her. | The Chapter on Fornication And Adultery And Family in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 2 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19796 | Ibn Abbas reported: I was playing with children that Allah Messenger ﷺ happened to pass by us. I hid myself behind the door. SahihMuslim-017-001-19934 | Ubaid Bin Umair reported that Abu Mousa brought permission from Umar to enter the house three times; and finding him busy came back; whereupon Umar said to the Inmates of his house : Did you not hear the voice of Abdullah Bin Qais the Kunya of Abu Mousa Ashari ? He was called back. and he Hadrat Umar said: What did prompt you to do it? Thereupon; he said: This is how we have been commanded to act. He Hadrat Umar said: Bring evidence in support of it; otherwise I shall deal strictly with you. So he Abu Mousa set out and came to the meeting of the Ansar and asked them to bear witness before hadrat Umar about this. They the Companions present there said: None but the youngest amongst us would bear out this fact. So Abu Saeed Khudri who was the youngest one in that company said: We have been commanded to do so while visiting the house of other people. SahihMuslim-017-001-20221 | Asma reported: I performed the household duties of AlZubair and he had a horse; I used to look after it. Nothing was more burdensome for me than looking after the horse I used to bring grass for it and looked after it; then I got a servant as Allah Apustle ﷺ had some prisoners of war in his possession. He gave me a female servant. She the female servant then began to look after the horse and thus relieved me of this burden. A person came and he said: Mother of Abdullah; I am a destitute person and I intend that I should start business under the shadow of your house. I Asma said: If I grant you permission; AlZubair may not agree to that; so you come and make a demand of it when AlZubair is also present there. He came accordingly find said: Mother of Abdullah. I am a destitute person. I intend to start t mall business in the shadow of your house. I said: Is there not in Medina any place for starting the business except my house? AlZubair said: Why is it that you prohibit the destitute man to start business here? So he started business and he earned so much that we sold our slave-girl to him There came AlZubair to me while the money was in my lap. He said: Give this to me. I said: I intend to spend it as charity. | The Chapter on Pulpit And Khutba On Fridays in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 14 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20809 | Ibn Shihab transmitted on the authority of Ibn Mousayib that Abu Huraira said: People say that Abu Huraira transmits so many ahadith; whereas Allah is the Reckoner; and they say: How is it with Muhajirs and the Ansar that they do not narrate ahadith like him like Abu Huraira ? Abu Huraira said: I tell you that my brothers from Ansar remained busy with their lands and my brothers Muhajirs were busy in transactions in the bazars; but I always kept myself attached to Allah Messenger ﷺ with bare subsistence. I remained present in the company of the Holy Prophet ; whereas they had been absent. I retained in my mind what the Prophet said ; whereas they forgot it. One day Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who amongst you spreads the cloth and listens to my talk and would then press it against his chest would never forget anything heard from me. So I spread my mantle and when he had concluded his talk I then pressed it against my chest and so I never forgot after that day anything that he the Holy Prophet said. SahihMuslim-017-001-21666 | Anas said: I also saw the wedding feast of Zainab; and he the Holy Prophet served bread and meat to the people; and made them eat to their heart content; and he the Holy Prophet sent me to call people; and as he was free from the ceremony he stood up and I followed him. Two persons were left and they were busy in talking and did not get out of the apartment. He the Holy Prophet then proceeded towards the apartments of his wives. He greeted with AlSalamu alaikum to every one of them and said: Members of the household; how are you? They said: Messenger of Allah; we are in good state How do you find your family? He would say: In good state. When he was free from this work of exchanging greetings he came back; and I also came back along with him. And as he reached the door; he found that the two men were still busy in talking. And when they saw him having returned; they stood up and went out; and by Allah! I do not know whether I had informed him; or there was a revelation to him to the affect that they had gone. He the Holy Prophet then came back and I also returned along with him; and as he put his step on the threshold of his door he hung a curtain between me and him; and it was on this occasion that Allah revealed this verse: O you who believe ; do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you xxxiii. 53. | The Chapter on Parents And Cloths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 14 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-23970 | Abu Wail reported: One day we went to Abdullah Bin Masud after we had observed the dawn prayer and we paid salutation at the door. He permitted us to enter; but we stayed for a while at the door; when the slave-girl came out and said: Why dont you come in? So we went in and we found Abdullah Bin Masud sitting and glorifying Allah i. e. he was busy in dhikr and he said: What obstructed you from coming in though you had been granted permission for it? We said: There was nothing behind it but we entertained the idea that some inmate of the house might be sleeping. He said: Do you presume any idleness on the part of the family of Ibn Umm Abd the mother of Abdullah Bin Masud ? He was again busy with the glorification of Allah till he thought that the sun had risen. He said: Girl; see whether the sun has arisen. She glanced but it had not risen by that time. He was again busy with the glorification of Allah and he again thought that the sun had arisen. She glanced and confirmed that; it had risen. Upon this he Abdullah Bin Masud said: Praise be to Allah Who did not call us to account for our sins today. Mahdi said: I think that he said; He did not destroy us for our sins. One among the people said: I recited all the mufassal surahs during the night. Abdullah said: You must have recited them like the recitation of poetry. I heard the Holy Prophet combining the sarahs and I remember the combinations which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made In the recitation of surahs. MuwataMalik-017-001-35594 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz wrote to his governors telling them to relieve any people who payed the jizya from paying the jizya if they became muslims. Malik said; The sunna is that there is no jizya due from women or children of people of the Book; and that jizya is only taken from men who have reached puberty. The people of dhimma and the magians do not have to pay any zakat on their palms or their vines or their crops or their livestock. This is because zakat is imposed on the muslims to purify them and to be given back to their poor; whereas jizya is imposed on the people of the Book to humble them. As long as they are in the country they have agreed to live in; they do not have to pay anything on their property except the jizya. If; however; they trade in muslim countries; coming and going in them; a tenth is taken from what they invest in such trade. This is because jizya is only imposed on them on conditions; which they have agreed on; namely that they will remain in their own countries; and that war will be waged for them on any enemy of theirs; and that if they then leave that land to go anywhere else to do business they will haveto pay a tenth. Whoever among them does business with the people of Egypt; and then goes to Syria; and then does business with the people of Syria and then goes to Iraq and does business with them and then goes on to Madina; or Yemen; or other similar places; has to pay a tenth. People of the Book and magians do not have to pay any zakat on any of their property; livestock; produce or crops. The sunna still continues like that. They remain in the deen they were in; and they continue to do what they used to do. If in any one year they frequently come and go in muslim countries then they have to pay a tenth every time they do so; since that is outside what they have agreed upon; and not one of the conditions stipulated for them. This is what I have seen the people of knowledge of our city doing. | The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Zakat in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik |
