He said: "O my father! this is the fulfilment of my vision of old! Allah hath made it come true! He was indeed good to me when He took me out of prison and brought you (all here) out of the desert, (even) after Satan had sown enmity between me and my brothers. Verily my Lord understandeth best the mysteries of all that He planneth to do, for verily He is full of knowledge and wisdom.

We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allah has assigned to thee; and daughters of thy paternal uncles and aunts, and daughters of thy maternal uncles and aunts, who migrated (from Makka) with thee; and any believing woman who dedicates her soul to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to wed her;- this only for thee, and not for the Believers (at large); We know what We have appointed for them as to their wives and the captives whom their right hands possess;- in order that there should be no difficulty for thee. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4031		Narrated Marwan Bin AlHakim and Miswar Bin Makhrama: When the Hawazin delegation came to Allah Messenger ﷺ after they had embraced Islam and requested him to return their properties and war prisoners to them; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; To me the best talk is the truest; so you may choose either of two things; the war prisoners or the wealth; for I have delayed their distribution. Allah Messenger ﷺ had waited for them for over ten days when he returned from Taif. So; when those people came to know that Allah Messenger ﷺ was not going to return to them except one of the two things the said; We choose our war Prisoners Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up amongst the Muslims; and after glorifying Allah as He deserved; he said; Now then; these brothers of yours have come to us with repentance; and I see it logical that I should return their captives to them; so whoever of you likes to do that as a favor then he can do it; and whoever amongst you likes to stick to his share; let him give up his prisoners and we will compensate him from the very first Fai i.e. war booty received without fight which Allah will give us. On that; all the people said. O Allah Messenger ﷺ s We have agreed willingly to do so return the captives Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them I do not know who amongst you has agreed to this and who has not. You should return and let your leaders inform me of your agreement. The people returned and their leaders spoke to them; and then came to Allah Apostle and said; All the people have agreed willingly to do so and have given the permission to return the war prisoners without Compensation AlZuhri; the sub-narrator states This is what has been related to us about the captives of Hawazin. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4183		Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; May Allah bestow His Mercy on Lot. He wanted to have a powerful support. If I were to stay in prison for a period equal to the stay of Joseph prison and then the offer of freedom came to me; then I would have accepted it. The Prophet ﷺ stood up and said to them; I have other people with me in this matter as you see and the most beloved statement to me is the true one; you may choose either the properties or the prisoners as I have delayed their distribution. The Prophet ﷺ had waited for them for more than ten days since his arrival from Taif. So; when it became evident to them that the Prophet ﷺ was not going to return them except one of the two; they said; We choose our prisoners. The Prophet got up amongst the people and glorified and praised Allah as He deserved and said; Then after; these brethren of yours have come to us with repentance; and I see it logical to return them the captives. So; whoever amongst you likes to do that as a favor; then he can do it; and whoever of you likes to stick to his share till we recompense him from the very first war booty which Allah will give us; then he can do so i.e. give up the present captives. The people unanimously said; We do that return the captives willingly. The Prophet ﷺ said; We do not know which of you has agreed to it and which have not; so go back and let your leaders forward us your decision. So; all the people then went back and discussed the matter with their leaders who returned and informed the Prophet ﷺ that all the people had willingly given their consent to return the captives. This is what has reached us about the captives of Hawazin. Narrated Anas that Abbas said to the Prophet; I paid for my ransom and Aqil ransom. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4983		Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ deputed me to keep Sadaqat AlFitr of Ramadan. A comer came and started taking handfuls of the foodstuff of the Sadaqa stealthily. I took hold of him and said; By Allah; I will take you to Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; I am needy and have many dependents; and I am in great need. I released him; and in the morning Allah Messenger ﷺ asked me; What did your prisoner do yesterday? I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The person complained of being needy and of having many dependents; so; I pitied him and let him go. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Indeed; he told you a lie and he will be coming again. I believed that he would show up again as Allah Messenger ﷺ had told me that he would return. So; I waited for him watchfully. When he showed up and started stealing handfuls of foodstuff; I caught hold of him again and said; I will definitely take you to Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; Leave me; for I am very needy and have many dependents. I promise I will not come back again. I pitied him and let him go. In the morning Allah Messenger ﷺ asked me; What did your prisoner do. I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He complained of his great need and of too many dependents; so I took pity on him and set him free. Allah Apostle said; Verily; he told you a lie and he will return. I waited for him attentively for the third time; and when he came and started stealing handfuls of the foodstuff; I caught hold of him and said; I will surely take you to Allah Messenger ﷺ as it is the third time you promise not to return; yet you break your promise and come. He said; Forgive me and I will teach you some words with which Allah will benefit you. I asked; What are they? He replied; Whenever you go to bed; recite Ayat AlKursi- Allahu la ilaha illa huwa AlHaiy AlQaiyum till you finish the whole verse. If you do so ; Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no satan will come near you till morning. So; I released him. In the morning; Allah Apostle asked; What did your prisoner do yesterday? I replied; He claimed that he would teach me some words by which Allah will benefit me; so I let him go. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; What are they? I replied; He said to me; Whenever you go to bed; recite Ayat AlKursi from the beginning to the end -- Allahu la ilaha illa huwa-lHaiy AlQaiyum--. He further said to me; If you do so ; Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you; and no satan will come near you till morning. Abu Huraira or another sub-narrator added that they the companions were very keen to do good deeds. The Prophet ﷺ said; He really spoke the truth; although he is an absolute liar. Do you know whom you were talking to; these three nights; O Abu Huraira? Abu Huraira said; No. He said; It was Satan. SahihMuslim-017-001-17556		Abdullah Bin Umar reported that Umar Bin AlKhattab asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he was at jirana a town near Mecca on his way back from Taif: Messenger of Allah; I had taken a vow during the days of Ignorance that I would observe Itikaf for one day in the Sacred Masjid. So what is your opinion? He said: Go and observe Itikaf for a day. And Allah Messenger ﷺ gave him a slave girl out of the one-fifth of the spoils of war meant for the Holy Prophet. And when Allah Messenger inay ﷺ set the war prisoners free. Umar Bin AlKhattab heard their voice as they were saying: Allah Messenger ﷺ has set as free. He Hadrat Umar said: What is this? They said: Allah Messenger ﷺ has set free the prisoners of war which had fallen to the lot of people. Thereupon he Hadrat Umar said: Abdullah; go to that slave-girl and set her free. SahihMuslim-017-001-17614		Imran Bin Hosain reported that the tribe of Thaqif was the ally of Banu Uqail. Thaqif took two persons from amongst the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ as prisoners. The Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ took one person at Banu Uqail as prisoner; and captured AlAdbi the camel of the Holy Prophet along with him. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to him and he was tied with ropes. He said: Muhammad. He came near him and said: What is the matter with you? Thereupon he the prisoner said: Why have you taken me as prisoner and why have you caught hold of one proceeding the pilgrims the camel as she carried the Prophet on her back and walked ahead of the multitude ? He the Holy Prophet said: Yours is a great fault. I my men have caught hold of you for the crime of your allies; Banu Thaqif. He the Holy Prophet then turned away. He again called him and said: Muhammad; Muhammad; and since Allah Messenger ﷺ was very compassionate; and tenderhearted; he returned to him; and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am a Muslim; whereupon he the Holy Prophet said: Had you said this when you had been the master of yourself; you would have gained every success. He then turned away. He the prisoner called him again saying: Muhammad; Muhammad. He came to him and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am hungry; feed me; and I am thirsty; so provide me with drink. He the Holy Prophet said: That is to satisfy your want. He was then ransomed for two persons who had been taken prisoner by Thaqif. He the narrator said: A woman of the Ansar had been taken prisoner and also AlAdbi was caught. The woman had been tied with ropes. The people were giving rest to their animals before their houses. She escaped one night from the bondage and came to the camels. As she drew near the camels; they fretted and fumed and so she left them until she came to Al; Adbi. It did not fret and fume; it was docile She rode upon its back and drove it away and she went off. When they the enemies of Islam were warned of this; they went in search of it; but it the camel exhausted them. She the woman took vow for Allah; that in case He would save her through it; she would offer that as a sacrifice. As she reached Medina; the people saw her and they said: Here is AlAdbi; the camel of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She the woman said that she had taken a vow that if Allah would save her on its back; she would sacrifice it. They the Prophet Companions came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; how ill she rewarded it that she took vow to Allah that if He saves her on its back; she would sacrifice it! There is no fulfillment of the vow in an act of disobedience; nor in an act over which a person has no control. In the version of Ibn Hujr the words are : There is no vow in disobedience to Allah. SahihMuslim-017-001-18036		It has been narrated on the authority of Salama Bin AlAkwa who said: We fought against the Fazara; and Abu Bakr was the commander over us. He had been appointed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we were only at an hour distance from the water of the enemy; Abu Bakr ordered us to attack. We made a halt during the last part of the night to rest and then we attacked from all sides and reached their watering-place where a battle was fought. Some of the enemies were killed and some were taken prisoners. I saw a group of persons that consisted of women and children. I was afraid lest they should reach the mountain before me; so I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow; they stopped. So I brought them; driving them along. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara. She was wearing a leather coat. With her was her daughter who was one of the prettiest girls in Arabia. I drove them along until I brought them to Abu Bakr who bestowed that girl upon me as a prize. So we arrived in Medina. I had not yet disrobed her when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me in the street and said: Give me that girl; O Salama. I said: Messenger of Allah; she has fascinated me. I had not yet disrobed her. When on the next day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again met me in the street; he said: O Salama; give me that girl; may God bless your father. I said: She is for you; Messenger of Allah! By Allah. I have not yet disrobed her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent her to the people of Mecca; and surrendered her as ransom for a number of Muslims who had been kept as prisoners at Mecca. SahihMuslim-017-001-19345		Umar Bin AlKhattab reported that there were brought some prisoners to Allah Messenger ﷺ amongst whom there was also a woman; who was searching for someone and when she found a child amongst the prisoners; she took hold of it; pressed it against her chest and provided it suck. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Do you think this woman would ever afford to throw her child in the Fire? We said: By Allah; so far as it lies in her power; she would never throw the child in Fire. SahihMuslim-017-001-21662		Anas Allah be pleased with him reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ set out on an expedition to Khaibar and we observed our morning prayer in early hours of the dawn. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then mounted and so did Abu Talha ride; and I was seating myself behind Abu Talha. Allah Apostle ﷺ moved in the narrow street of Khaibar and we rode so close to each other in the street that my knee touched the leg of Allah Apostle ﷺ. A part of the lower garment of Allah Apostle ﷺ slipped from his leg and I could see the whiteness of the leg of Allah Apostle ﷺ. As he entered the habitation he called: Allahu Akbar Allah is the Greatest. Khaibar is ruined. And when we get down in the valley of a people evil is the morning of the warned ones. He repeated it thrice. In the meanwhile the people went out for their work; and said: By Allah; Muhammad has come. Abd AlAziz or some of our companions said: Muhammad and the army have come. He said: We took it the territory of Khaibar by force; and there were gathered the prisoners of war. There came Dihya and he said: Messenger of Allah; bestow upon me a girl from among the prisoners. He said: Go and get any girl. He made a choice for Safiya daughter of Huyay Bin Akhtab. There came a person to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Apostle of Allah; you have bestowed Safiya bint Huyay; the chief of Quraidha and AlNadir; upon Dihya and she is worthy of you only. He said: Call him along with her. So he came along with her. When Allah Apostle ﷺ saw her he said: Take any other woman from among the prisoners. He the narrator said: He the Holy Prophet then granted her emancipation and married her. Thabit said to him: Abu Hamza; how much dower did he the Holy Prophet give to her? He said: He granted her freedom and then married her. On the way Umm Sulaim embellished her and then sent her to him the Holy Prophet at night. Allah Apostle ﷺ appeared as a bridegroom in the morning. He the Holy Prophet said: He who has anything to eat should bring that. Then the cloth was spread. He called them to Islam; but they could not say Aslamna we submitted; i.e.; became Muslim so they started to say Sabana we changed our religion. Khalid started killing and taking prisoners; and he gave a prisoner to each man. The next day Khalid Bin AlWalid issued orders that each man among us kill his prisoner. Ibn Umar said: I said: By Allah; I will not kill my prisoner; and no one among my companions will kill his prisoner. We came to the Prophet SAWSYMOBOL; and he was told of what Khalid had done. The Prophet SAWSYMOBOL said: I disavow what Khalid has done; twice. SunanAlNasai-017-001-14433		Narrated Amr Bin Shuaib: It was narrated from Amr Bin Shuaib; from his father; from his grandfather; that Marthad Bin Abi Marthad AlGhanawi - strong man who used to take the prisoners from Makkah to AlMadinah- said: I arranged with a man to bring him from Makkah to AlMadinah. There was a prostitute in Makkah who was called Anaq; and she was his friend. She came out and saw my shadow on the wall; and said: Who is this? Marthad? Welcome; O Marthad; come tonight and stay at our place. I said: O Anaq; the Messenger of Allah has forbidden adultery. She said: O people of the tents; this porcupine is the one who is taking your prisoners from Makkah to AlMadinah! I headed toward the mountain of AlKhandamah; and eight men came after me. They came and stood over my head; and they urinated; and their urine reached me; but Allah caused them not to see me. Then I went to my companion the prisoner and brought him to AlArak; where I undid his fetters. Then I came to the Messenger of Allah and said: O Messenger of Allah; shall I marry Anaq? He remained silent and did not answer me; then the following was revealed: And the adulteress-fornicator; none marries her except an adulterer-fornicator or an idolater.
