Give your verdict according to Allah Laws in our case. Then his opponent got up and said; He has told the truth; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Decide his case according to Allah Laws. My son was a laborer working for this person; and he committed illegal sexual intercourse with his wife; and the people told me that my son should be stoned to death; but I offered one-hundred sheep and a slave girl as a ransom for him. Then I asked the religious learned people; and they told me that my son should be flogged with one-hundred stripes and be exiled for one year. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is; I will judge you according to Allah Laws. The sheep and the slave girl will be returned to you and your son will be flogged one-hundred stripes and be exiled for one year. And you; O Unais! Go to the wife of this man and if she confesses ; stone her to death. So Unais went in the morning and stoned her to death after she had confessed. Ali felt annoyed at this remark and he said: Abdullah Bin Jafar; stand up and flog him; and he began to flog him and Ali counted the stripes until these were forty. Abdullah said to me: So far as what you say about fasting in the month of Rajab; how about one who observes continuous fasting? -and so far as what you say about the striped garment; I heard Umar Bin Khatab say that he had heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ : He who wears silk garment has no share for him in the Hereafter ; and I am afraid it may not be that striped garment; and so far as the red saddle clotb is concerned that is the saddle cloth of Abdullah and it is red. I went back to Asma and informed her. whereupon she said: Here is the cloak of Allah Messenger ﷺ. and she brought out to me that cloak made of Persian cloth with a hem of brocade; and its sleeves bordered with brocade and said: This wall Allah Messenger cloak with Aisha until she died; and when she died. He then ordered his Companions and they beat him with their sandals and whatever they had in their hands. He then said to them: Leave him; and they left him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then died; and Abu Bakr gave forty lashes for drinking wine; and then Umar in the beginning of his Caliphate inflicted forty stripes and at the end of his Caliphate he inflicted eighty stripes. Uthman after him inflicted both punishments; eighty and forty stripes; and finally Muawiyah established eighty stripes.
