SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2093Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Abu Talha said to Um Sulaim; I heard the voice of Allah Messenger ﷺ rather weak; and I knew that it was because of hunger. Have you anything to present to the Prophet ? She said; Yes. Then she took out a few loaves of barley bread and took a veil of hers and wrapped the bread with a part of it and sent me to Allah Messenger ﷺ. I went and found Allah Messenger ﷺ sitting in the Masjid with some people. I stood up before him. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me; Has Abu Talha sent you? I said; Yes. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said to those who were with him. Get up and proceed. I went ahead of them as their forerunner and came to Abu Talha and informed him about it. Abu Talha said; O Um Sulaim! Allah Messenger ﷺ has come and we have no food to feed them. Um Sulaim said; Allah and His Apostle know best. So Abu Talha went out to receive them till he met Allah Messenger ﷺ. Allah Messenger ﷺ came in company with Abu Talha and they entered the house. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Um Sulaim! Bring whatever you have. So she brought that barley bread and Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered that bread to be broken into small pieces; and then Um Sulaim poured over it some butter from a leather butter container; and then Allah Messenger ﷺ said what Allah wanted him to say; i.e. blessing the food. Allah Messenger ﷺ then said; Admit ten men. Abu Talha admitted them and they ate to their fill and went out. He again said; Admit ten men. We went to the Prophet ﷺ and said; Here is a rock appearing across the trench. He said; I am coming down. Then he got up; and a stone was tied to his belly for we had not eaten anything for three days. So the Prophet ﷺ took the spade and struck the big solid rock and it became like sand. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allow me to go home. When the Prophet ﷺ allowed me I said to my wife; I saw the Prophet ﷺ in a state that I cannot treat lightly. Have you got something for him to eat? She replied; I have barley and a she goat. So I slaughtered the kid and she ground the barley; then we put the meat in the earthenware cooking pot. Then I came to the Prophet ﷺ when the dough had become soft and fermented and the meat in the pot over the stone trivet had nearly been well-cooked; and said; I have got a little food prepared; so get up O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; you and one or two men along with you for the food. The Prophet ﷺ asked; How much is that food? I told him about it. He said; It is abundant and good. Tell your wife not to remove the earthenware pot from the fire and not to take out any bread from the oven till I reach there. Then he said to all his companions ; Get up. So the Muhajirn i.e. Emigrants and the Ansar got up. When I came to my wife; I said; Allah Mercy be upon you! The Prophet came along with the Muhajirin and the Ansar and those who were present with them. She said; Did the Prophet ﷺ ask you how much food you had ? I replied; Yes. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; Enter and do not throng. The Prophet ﷺ started cutting the bread into pieces and put the cooked meat over it. He covered the earthenware pot and the oven whenever he took something out of them. He would give the food to his companions and take the meat out of the pot. He went on cutting the bread and scooping the meat for his companions till they all ate their fill; and even then; some food remained. So please come; you and another person along with you. The Prophet ﷺ raised his voice and said; O people of Trench ! Jabir has prepared a meal so let us go. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me; Dont put down your earthenware meat pot from the fireplace or bake your dough till I come. So I came to my house and Allah Messenger ﷺ too; came; proceeding before the people. When I came to my wife; she said; May Allah do so-and-so to you. I said; I have told the Prophet ﷺ of what you said. Then she brought out to him i.e. the Prophet ﷺ the dough; and he spat in it and invoked for Allah Blessings in it. Then he proceeded towards our earthenware meat-pot and spat in it and invoked for Allah Blessings in it. Then he said to my wife. Call a lady-baker to bake along with you and keep on taking out scoops from your earthenware meat-pot; and do not put it down from its fireplace. They were onethousand who took their meals ; and by Allah they all ate; and when they left the food and went away; our earthenware pot was still bubbling full of meat as if it had not decreased; and our dough was still being baked as if nothing had been taken from it.The Chapter on Animal Sacrifice Meat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Ghazwa of AlKhandaq or AlAhzab Battle in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-18302Malik Bin Aus Bin AlHadathan reported: I came saying who was prepared toexchange dirhams for my gold ; whereupon Talha Bin Ubaidullah Allah be pleased with him as he was sitting with Umar Bin AlKhattab said: Show us your gold and then come to us at a later time. When our servant would come we would give you your silver dirhams due to you. Thereupon Umar Bin AlKhattib Allah be pleased with him said: Not at all. By Allah; either give him his silver coins. or return his gold to him; for Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Exchange of silver for gold has an element of interest in it. except when it is exchanged on the spot;and wheat for wheat is an interest unless both are handed over on the spot: barley for barley is interest unless both are handed over on the spot; dates for dates is interest unless both are handed over on the Spot. The Chapter on Precious Metals And Exchange For Other Commodities in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 15 in Sahih Muslim

Muawiya ordered a person to sell it for payment to the people soldiers. The people made haste in getting that. The news of this state of affairs reached Ubada Bin Samit; and he stood up and said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ forbidding the sale of gold by gold; and silver by silver; and wheat by wheat; and barley by barley; and dates by dates; and salt by salt; except like for like and equal for equal. So he who made an addition or who accepted an addition committed the sin of taking interest. So the people returned what they had got. This reached Muawiya. and he stood up to deliver an address. He said: What is the matter with people that they narrate from the Messenger ﷺ such tradition which we did not hear though we saw him the Holy Prophet and lived in his company? Thereupon; Ubida Bin Samit stood up and repeated that narration; and then said: We will definitely narrate what we heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ though it may be unpleasant to Muawiya or he said: Even if it is against his will. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drank it and said: When you see that the night approaches from this side; he who fasts has reached the time to break it ; and he pointed to the east with his finger. The Chapter on Food And Raisins in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Time For The Fasting Person To Break His Fast in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-35071Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Malik Ibn Aus Ibn AlHadathan AlNasri that one time he asked to exchange 100 dinars. He said; Talha Ibn Ubaydullah called me over and we made a mutual agreement that he would make an exchange for me. He took the gold and turned it about in his hand; and then said; I cant do it until my treasurer brings the money to me from AlGhaba. Umar Ibn AlKhattab was listening and Umar said; By Allah! Do not leave him until you have taken it from him! Then he said; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Gold for silver is usury except hand to hand. Wheat for wheat is usury except hand to hand. Dates for dates is usury except hand to hand. Barley for barley is usury except hand to hand. Malik said; When a man buys dirhams with dinars and then finds a bad dirham among them and wants to return it; the exchange of the dinars breaks down; and he returns the silver and takes back his dinars. The explanation of what is disapproved of in that is that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Gold for silver is usury except hand to hand. and Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; If someone asks you to wait to be paid until he has gone back to his house; do not leave him. When he returns a dirham to him from the exchange after he has left him; it is like a debt or something deferred. For that reason; it is disapproved of; and the exchange collapses. Umar Ibn AlKhattab wanted that all gold; silver and food should not be sold for goods to be paid later. He did not want there to be any delay or deferment in any such sale; whether it involved one commodity or different sorts of commodities. The Chapter on Financial Transaction And Food in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Drinks in Muwata Malik
