I replied; I said; Labbaik and expressed the same intention as yours. He said; Have you driven the Hadi along with you? I replied; No; I did not drive the Hadi. He said; So perform the Tawaf of the Kaba and then the Sai; between Safa and Marwa and then finish the state of Ihram. So I did the same; and one of the women of the tribe of Bani Qais combed my hair. We continued follow in that tradition till the caliphate of Umar.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: Hittan Ibn Abdullah AlRuqashi said: Abu Mousa AlAshari led us in prayer. When he sat at the end of his prayer; one of the people said: Prayer has been established by virtue and purity. When Abu Mousa returned from his prayer or finished his prayer ; he gave his attention to the people; and said: Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. He said: You might have said them; Hittan. He replied: I did not say them. I was afraid you might punish me. One of the people said: I said them and I did not intend by them anything except good. Abu Mousa said: Do you not know how you utter them in your prayer? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us; and taught us and explained to us our way of doing and taught us our prayer. He said: When you pray a congregational prayer; straighten your rows; then one of you should lead you in prayer. When he says the takbir Allah is Most Great ; say the takbir; and when he recites verses Not of those upon whom is Thy anger; nor of those who err i.e. the end of Surah i. ; say Amin; Allah will favour you. When he says Allah is most great; and bows; say Allah is most great and bow; for the imam will bow before you; and will raise his head before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is for that. When he says Allah listens to the one who praises Him; say: O Allah; our Lord; to Thee be praise; Allah be praised; Allah will listen to you; for Allah; the Exalted; said by the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ : Allah listens to the one who praises Him. When he says Allah is most great and prostrates; say: Allah is most great and prostrate; for the imam prostrates before you and raises his head before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is for that. When he sits; each one of you should say The adorations of the tongue; all good things; and acts of worship are due to Allah. Peace be upon you; O Prophet; and Allah mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah; and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Apostle.This version of Ahmad does not mention the words and His blessings nor the phrase and I testify; instead; it has the words that Muhammad.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I came to the Prophet ﷺ at a place called AlBatha. The Prophet ﷺ said; Did you assume the Ihram for Hajj? I said; Yes; He said; How did you express your intention for performing Hajj ? I said; Labbaik i.e. I am ready to assume the Ihram with the same intention as that of Allah Messenger ﷺ. The Prophet said; Perform the Tawaf around the Kaba and between Safa and Marwa; and then finish your Ihram. So I performed the Tawaf around the Kaba and between Safa and Marwa and then I came to a woman from the tribe of Qais who removed the lice from my head.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I came to the Prophet ﷺ at AlBatha while his camel was kneeling down and he asked me; Have you intended to perform the Hajj? I replied in the affirmative. He asked me; With what intention have you assumed Ihram? I replied; I have assumed Ihram with the same intention as that of the Prophet. He said; You have done well. Perform the Tawaf of the Kaba and the Sai between AlSafa and AlMarwa and then finish the Ihram. So; I performed the Tawaf around the Kaba and the Sai between AlSafa and AlMarwa and then went to a woman of the tribe of Qais who cleaned my head from lice. Later I assumed the Ihram for Hajj. I used to give the verdict of doing the same till the caliphate of Umar who said; If you follow the Holy Book then it orders you to remain in the state of Ihram till you finish from Hajj; if you follow the Prophet ﷺ then he did not finish his Ihram till the Hadi sacrifice had reached its place of slaughtering Hajj AlQiran.

  • Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I performed a
    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I performed ablution in my house and then went out and said; Today I shall stick to Allah Messenger ﷺ and stay with him all this day of mine in his service. I went to the Masjid and asked about the Prophet. They said; He had gone in this direction. So I followed his way; asking about him till he entered a place called Bir Aris. I sat at its gate that was made of date-palm leaves till the Prophet ﷺ finished answering the call of nature and performed ablution. Then I went up to him to see him sitting at the well of Aris at the middle of its edge with his legs uncovered; hanging in the well. I greeted him and went back and sat at the gate. I said; Today I will be the gatekeeper of the Prophet. Abu Bakr came and pushed the gate. I asked; Who is it? He said; Abu Bakr. I told him to wait; went in and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Abu Bakr asks for permission to enter. He said; Admit him and give him the glad tidings that he will be in Paradise. So I went out and said to Abu Bakr; Come in; and Allah Messenger ﷺ gives you the glad tidings that you will be in Paradise Abu Bakr entered and sat on the right side of Allah Messenger ﷺ on the built edge of the well and hung his legs n the well as the Prophet ﷺ did and uncovered his legs. I then returned and sat at the gate. I had left my brother performing ablution and he intended to follow me. So I said to myself. If Allah wants good for so-and-so i.e. my brother He will bring him here. Suddenly somebody moved the door. I asked; Who is it? He said; Umar Bin AlKhattab. I asked him to wait; went to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; greeted him and said; Umar Bin AlKhattab asks the permission to enter. He said; Admit him; and give him the glad tidings that he will be in Paradise. I went to Umar and said Come in; and Allah Messenger ﷺ ; gives you the glad tidings that you will be in Paradise. So he entered and sat beside Allah Messenger ﷺ on the built edge of the well on the left side and hung his legs in the well. I returned and sat at the gate and said; to myself ; If Allah wants good for so-and-so; He will bring him here. Somebody came and moved the door. I asked Who is it? He replied; Uthman Bin Affan. I asked him to wait and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said; Admit him; and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise; I asked him to wait and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said; Adult him; and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise after a calamity that will befall him. So I went up to him and said to him; Come in; Allah Apostle gives you the glad tidings of entering Paradise after a calamity that will befall you. Uthman then came in and found that the built edge of the well was occupied; so he sat opposite to the Prophet ﷺ on the other side. Saeed Bin AlMusaiyab said; I interpret this narration in terms of their graves.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I went along with some men from the AlAshariyin to Allah Messenger ﷺ and it happened that I met him while he was in an angry mood. We asked him to provide us with mounts; but he swore that he would not give us any. Later on he said; By Allah; Allah willing; if ever I take an oath to do something and later on I find something else better than the first; then I do the better one and give expiation for the dissolution of my oath.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: I went to Allah Messenger ﷺ along with a group of people from the tribe of AlAshari; asking for mounts. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah; I will not give you anything to ride; and I have nothing to mount you on. We stayed there as long as Allah wished; and after that; some camels were brought to the Prophet and he ordered that we be given three camels. When we set out; some of us said to others; Allah will not bless us; as we all went to Allah Messenger ﷺ asking him for mounts; and although he had sworn that he would not give us mounts; he did give us. So we returned to the Prophet; and mentioned that to him. He said; I have not provided you with mounts; but Allah has. By Allah; Allah willing; if I ever take an oath; and then see that another is better than the first; I make expiration for my dissolved oath; and do what is better and make expiration.

In the meantime Abu Bakr came and asked permission to enter. I said to him ; Wait till I get you permission. Abu Bakr waited outside and I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Allah Prophet! Abu Bakr asks your permission to enter. He said; Admit him; and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise. So Abu Bakr entered and sat on the right side of the Prophet ﷺ and uncovered his legs and hung them in the well. Then Umar came and I said to him ; Wait till I get you permission. The Prophet ﷺ said; Admit him and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise. So Umar entered and sat on the left side of the Prophet and uncovered his legs and hung them in the well so that one side of the well became fully occupied and there remained no place for any-one to sit. Then Uthman came and I said to him ; Wait till I get permission for you. The Prophet ﷺ said; Admit him and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise with a calamity which will befall him. When he entered; he could not find any place to sit with them so he went to the other edge of the well opposite them and uncovered his legs and hung them in the well. I wished that a brother of mine would come; so I invoked Allah for his coming. Ibn AlMusaiyab said; I interpreted that narration as indicating their graves. The first three are together and the grave of Uthman is separate from theirs.

Be merciful to yourselves i.e. dont raise your voice ; for you are not calling a deaf or an absent one; but One Who is with you; no doubt He is All-Hearer; ever Near to all things.

    Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: When Allah Messenger ﷺ fought the battle of Khaibar; or when Allah Messenger ﷺ went towards it; whenever the people; passed over a high place overlooking a valley; they raised their voices saying; Allahu-Akbar! Allahu-Akbar! None has the right to be worshipped except Allah. On that Allah Apostle said to them ; Lower your voices; for you are not calling a deaf or an absent one; but you are calling a Hearer Who is near and is with you. I was behind the riding animal of Allah Messenger ﷺ and he heard me saying. There Is neither might; nor power but with Allah; On that he said to me; O Abdullah Bin Qais! I said; Labbaik. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; Shall I tell you a sentence which is one of the treasures of Paradise I said; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Let my father and mother be sacrificed for your sake. He said; It is: There is neither might nor power but with Allah.

The parable of the hypocrite who does not recite the Quran is that of the colocynth; its smell is better and its taste is bitter.
