  Narrated Anas: When Abdullah Bin Salam heard the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ at Medina; he came to him and said; I am going to ask you about three things which nobody knows except a prophet: What is the first portent of the Hour? What will be the first meal taken by the people of Paradise? Why does a child resemble its father; and why does it resemble its maternal uncle Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Gabriel has just now told me of their answers. Abdullah said; He i.e. Gabriel ; from amongst all the angels; is the enemy of the Jews. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The first portent of the Hour will be a fire that will bring together the people from the east to the west; the first meal of the people of Paradise will be Extra-lobe caudate lobe of fish-liver. As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first; the child will resemble the father; and if the woman gets discharge first; the child will resemble her. On that Abdullah Bin Salam said; I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah. Abdullah Bin Salam further said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Jews are liars; and if they should come to know about my conversion to Islam before you ask them about me ; they would tell a lie about me. The Jews came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abdullah went inside the house. Allah Apostle asked the Jews ; What kind of man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They replied; He is the most learned person amongst us; and the best amongst us; and the son of the best amongst us.   Narrated Anas: When Abdulrahman Bin Auf came to Medina; the Prophet ﷺ established a bond of brotherhood between him and Saad Bin AlRabi AlAnsari. Saad was a rich man; so he said to Abdulrahman I will give you half of my property and will help you marry. Abdulrahman said to him ; May Allah bless you in your family and property. Show me the market. So Abdulrahman did not return from the market till he gained some dried buttermilk yogurt and butter through trading. He brought that to his house-hold. We stayed for sometime or as long as Allah wished ; and then Abdulrahman came; scented with yellowish perfume. The Prophet ﷺ said to him What is this? He replied; I got married to an Ansari woman. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What did you pay her? He replied; A gold stone or gold equal to the weight of a date stone. The Prophet ﷺ said to him ; Give a wedding banquet even if with one sheep.

  Narrated Anas: When Abdulrahman Bin Auf married an Ansari woman; the Prophet ﷺ asked him; How much Mahr did you give her? Abdulrahman said; Gold equal to the weight of a date stone. Anas added: When they i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his companions arrived at Medina; the emigrants stayed at the Ansar houses. Abdulrahman Bin Auf stayed at Saad Bin AlRabi house. Saad said to Abdulrahman I will divide and share my property with you and will give one of my two wives to you. Abdulrahman said; May Allah bless you; your wives and property I am not in need of that; but kindly show me the way to the market.   Narrated Anas: When Abdulrahman Bin Auf came to us; Allah Messenger ﷺ made a bond of fraternity between him and Saad Bin AlRabi who was a rich man; Saad said; The Ansar know that I am the richest of all of them; so I will divide my property into two parts between me and you; and I have two wives; see which of the two you like so that I may divorce her and you can marry her after she becomes lawful to you by her passing the prescribed period i.e. Idda of divorce. Abdulrahman said; May Allah bless you your family i.e. wives for you. But Abdulrahman went to the market and did not return on that day except with some gain of dried yogurt and butter. He went on trading just a few days till he came to Allah Messenger ﷺ bearing the traces of yellow scent over his clothes. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked him; What is this scent? He replied; I have married a woman from the Ansar. Allah Apostle asked; How much Mahr have you given? He said; A date-stone weight of gold or a golden date-stone.   Narrated Anas: When Abdulrahman Bin Auf came to Medina and the Prophet ﷺ established the bond of brotherhood between him and Saad Bin AlRabi AlAnsari; Saud suggested that Abdulrahman should accept half of his property and family. Abdulrahman said; May Allah bless you in your family and property; guide me to the market. So Abdulrahman while doing business in the market made some profit of some condensed dry yoghurt and butter. After a few days the Prophet ﷺ saw him wearing clothes stained with yellow perfume. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What is this; O Abdulrahman He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have married an Ansar woman. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What have you given her as Mahr? He i.e. Abdulrahman said; A piece of gold; about the weight of a date stone. Then the Prophet said; Give a banquet; even though of a sheep.

  Narrated Anas: When Abu Bakr; sent me to collect the Zakat from Bahrain; he wrote to me the following:- In the name of Allah; the Beneficent; the Merciful. These are the orders for compulsory charity Zakat which Allah Messenger ﷺ had made obligatory for every Muslim; and which Allah had ordered His Apostle to observe: Whoever amongst the Muslims is asked to pay Zakat accordingly; he should pay it to the Zakat collector and whoever is asked more than that what is specified in this script he should not pay it; for twenty-four camels or less; sheep are to be paid as Zakat; for every five camels one sheep is to be paid; and if there are between twenty-five to thirty-five camels; one Bint Makhad is to be paid; and if they are between thirty-six to forty-five camels ; one Bint Labun is to be paid; and if they are between forty-six to sixty camels ; one Hiqqa is to be paid; and if the number is between sixty-one to seventy-five camels ; one Jadha is to be paid; and if the number is between seventy-six to ninety camels ; two Bint Labuns are to be paid; and if they are from ninety-one to one-hundredand twenty camels ; two Hiqqas are to be paid; and if they are over one-hundred and-twenty camels ; for every forty over one-hundred-and-twenty one Bint Labun is to be paid; and for every fifty camels over one-hundred-and-twenty one Hiqqa is to be paid; and who ever has got only four camels; has to pay nothing as Zakat; but if the owner of these four camels wants to give something; he can. If the number of camels increases to five; the owner has to pay one sheep as Zakat. As regards the Zakat for the flock of sheep; if they are between forty and one-hundred-and-twenty sheep; one sheep is to be paid; and if they are between one-hundred-and-twenty to two hundred sheep ; two sheep are to be paid; and if they are between two-hundred to three-hundred sheep ; three sheep are to be paid; and for over three-hundred sheep; for every extra hundred sheep; one sheep is to be paid as Zakat. And if somebody has got less than forty sheep; no Zakat is required; but if he wants to give; he can. For silver the Zakat is one-fortieth of the lot i.e. 2.5% ; and if its value is less than two-hundred Dirhams; Zakat is not required; but if the owner wants to pay he can.

He would greet them and invoke good on them; and they too would return his greeting and invoke good on him. When he returned to his house; he found two men talking to each other; and when he saw them; he went out of his house again. When those two men saw Allah Messenger ﷺ : going out of his house; they quickly got up and departed. I do not remember whether I informed him of their departure; or he was informed by somebody else.   Narrated Anas: When it was the day of Uhud; the people left the Prophet ﷺ while Abu Talha was in front of the Prophet ﷺ shielding him with his leather shield. Abu Talha was a skillful archer who used to shoot violently. He broke two or three arrow bows on that day. If a man carrying a quiver full of arrows passed by; the Prophet would say to him ; put scatter its contents for Abu Talha. The Prophet ﷺ would raise his head to look at the enemy; whereupon Abu Talha would say; Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you ! Do not raise your head; lest an arrow of the enemy should hit you. Let my neck be struck rather than your neck. I saw Aisha; the daughter of Abu Bakr; and Um Sulaim rolling up their dresses so that I saw their leg-bangles while they were carrying water skins on their backs and emptying them in the mouths of the wounded people. They would return to refill them and again empty them in the mouths of the wounded people. The sword fell from Abu Talha hand twice or thrice on that day.

  Narrated Anas: When it was the day of the battle of Hunain; the Prophet ﷺ confronted the tribe of Hawazin while there were ten-thousand men besides the Tulaqa i.e. those who had embraced Islam on the day of the Conquest of Mecca with the Prophet. When they i.e. Muslims fled; the Prophet ﷺ said; O the group of Ansari They replied; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ and Sadaik! We are under your command. Then the Prophet ﷺ got down from his mule and said; I am Allah Slave and His Apostle. Then the pagans were defeated. The Prophet ﷺ distributed the war booty amongst the Tulaqa and Muhajirin i.e. Emigrants and did not give anything to the Ansar. So the Ansar spoke i.e. were dissatisfied and he called them and made them enter a leather tent and said; Wont you be pleased that the people take the sheep and camels; and you take Allah Messenger ﷺ along with you? The Prophet ﷺ added; If the people took their way through a valley and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass; then I would choose a mountain pass of the Ansar.

  Narrated Anas: When the Prophet ﷺ arrived Medina he dismounted at Awali-i-Medina amongst a tribe called Banu Amr Bin Auf. He stayed there For fourteen nights. Then he sent for Bani AlNajjar and they came armed with their swords. As if I am looking just now as the Prophet ﷺ was sitting over his Rahila Mount with Abu Bakr riding behind him and all Banu AlNajjar around him till he dismounted at the courtyard of Abu Ayoub house. The Prophet ﷺ loved to pray wherever the time for the prayer was due even at sheep-folds. Later on he ordered that a Masjid should be built and sent for some people of Bani AlNajjar and said; O Banu AlNajjar! Suggest to me the price of this walled piece of land of yours. They replied; No! By Allah! We do not demand its price except from Allah. Anas added: There were graves of pagans in it and some of it was unleveled and there were some date-palm trees in it. The Prophet ﷺ ordered that the graves of the pagans be dug out and the unleveled land be level led and the date-palm trees be cut down. So all that was done. They aligned these cut date-palm trees towards the Qibla of the Masjid as a wall and they also built two stone side-walls of the Masjid. His companions brought the stones while reciting some poetic verses. The Prophet ﷺ was with them and he kept on saying; There is no goodness except that of the Hereafter; O Allah! So please forgive the Ansars and the emigrants.

  Narrated Anas: When the news of the arrival of the Prophet ﷺ at Medina reached Abdullah Bin Salam; he went to him to ask him about certain things; He said; I am going to ask you about three things which only a Prophet can answer: What is the first sign of The Hour? What is the first food which the people of Paradise will eat? Why does a child attract the similarity to his father or to his mother? The Prophet ﷺ replied; Gabriel has just now informed me of that. Ibn Salam said; He i.e. Gabriel is the enemy of the Jews amongst the angels. The Prophet ﷺ said; As for the first sign of The Hour; it will be a fire that will collect the people from the East to the West. As for the first meal which the people of Paradise will eat; it will be the caudate extra lobe of the fish-liver. They replied; The best of us and the son of the best of us and the most superior among us; and the son of the most superior among us. The Prophet ﷺ said; What would you think if Abdullah Bin Salam should embrace Islam? They said; May Allah protect him from that. The Prophet ﷺ repeated his question and they gave the same answer. Then Abdullah came out to them and said; I testify that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah! On this; the Jews said; He is the most wicked among us and the son of the most wicked among us. So they degraded him. On this; he i.e. Abdullah Bin Salam said; It is this that I was afraid of; O Allah Messenger ﷺ.

The Jews said: He does not want to leave any matter of ours without opposing us in it. He said: Then Abbad Bin Bishr and Usaid Bin Hudair came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to inform him about that. They said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we not then have intercourse with them during their menstruation? The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed color; until they thought that he was angry with them. So they left; and afterwards the Prophet ﷺ was given some milk as a gift; so he sent some of it to them to drink. Then they knew that he was not angry with them.

Abu Dujana and Abu Suhail Bin AlBaida with a drink made from a mixture of unripe and ripe dates; alcoholic drinks; were made unlawful; whereupon I threw it away; and I was their butler and the youngest of them; and we used to consider that drink as an alcoholic drink in those days.

  Narrated Anas: While the Muslims were offering the Fajr prayer; Allah Messenger ﷺ suddenly appeared before them by living the curtain of the dwelling place of Aisha; looked towards the Muslims who were standing in rows. He smiled with pleasure. Abu Bakr started retreating to join the row on the assumption that the Prophet wanted to come out for the prayer. The Muslims intended to leave the prayer and were on the verge of being put to trial ; but the Prophet ﷺ beckoned them to complete their prayer and then he let the curtain fall.   Narrated Anas: While the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon on a Friday; a man stood up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah to bless us with rain. The Prophet ﷺ invoked Allah for rain. So; the sky became overcast and it started raining till one could hardly reach one home. It kept on raining till the next Friday when the same man or another man got up and said to the Prophet ; Invoke Allah to withhold the rain from us; for we have been drowned with heavy rain. The Prophet ﷺ said; O Allah! Let it rain around us and not on us. Then the clouds started dispersing around Medina and rain ceased to fall on the people of Medina.

  Narrated Anas: While the Prophet ﷺ was with one of his wives; one of the mothers of the believers i.e. one of his wives sent a wooden bowl containing food with a servant. The wife in whose house he was sitting stroke the bowl with her hand and broke it. The Prophet ﷺ collected the shattered pieces and put the food back in it and said; Eat.
