    Narrated Sahl: A woman brought a woven Burda sheet having edging border to the Prophet; Then Sahl asked them whether they knew what is Burda; they said that Burda is a cloak and Sahl confirmed their reply. Then the woman said; I have woven it with my own hands and I have brought it so that you may wear it. The Prophet ﷺ accepted it; and at that time he was in need of it. So he came out wearing it as his waist-sheet. A man praised it and said; Will you give it to me? How nice it is! The other people said; You have not done the right thing as the Prophet ﷺ is in need of it and you have asked for it when you know that he never turns down anybody request. The man replied; By Allah; I have not asked for it to wear it but to make it my shroud. Later it was his shroud.

    Narrated Sahl: A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said; I have come to present myself to you for marriage. She kept standing for a long period during which period the Prophet ﷺ looked at her carefully. When she stayed for a Long period; a man said to the Prophet ﷺ If you are not in need of her; then marry her to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Have you got anything to give her as Mahr ? The man said; No. The Prophet said; Go to your house and search for something. The man went and came back to say; By Allah; I could not find anything. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go again and search for something; even if it be an iron ring. He went again and came back saying; No; by Allah; I could not get even an iron ring. The man had only an Izar and had no Rida upper garment. He said; I will give her my Izar as Mahr. On that the Prophet ﷺ said; Your Izar? If she wears it; nothing of it will remain on you; and if you wear it nothing of it will be on her The man went Aasi de and sat down When the Prophet ﷺ saw him leaving after a while ; he called back and asked. How much Quran do you know by heart ? He said; I know such and such Suras; naming some Suras. The Prophet ﷺ said; I marry her to you for the amount of Quran you know by heart.

    Narrated Sahl: A woman came to the Prophet;; and presented herself to him for marriage. He said; I am not in need of women these days. Then a man said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Marry her to me. The Prophet ﷺ asked him; What have you got? He said; I have got nothing. The Prophet ﷺ said; Give her something; even an iron ring. He said; I have got nothing. The Prophet ﷺ asked him ; How much of the Quran do you know by heart ? He said; So much and so much. The Prophet ﷺ said; I have married her to you for what you know of the Quran.

Amongst the army of the Muslims there was a man who would follow every pagan separated from the army and strike him with his sword. It was said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! None has fought so satisfactorily as so-and-so namely; that brave Muslim. The Prophet said; He is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire. The people said; Who amongst us will be of the dwellers of Paradise if this man is from the dwellers of the Hell-Fire? Then a man from amongst the people said; I will follow him and accompany him in his fast and slow movements. The brave man got wounded; and wanting to die at once; he put the handle of his sword on the ground and its tip in between his breasts; and then threw himself over it; committing suicide. Then the man who had watched the deceased returned to the Prophet ﷺ and said; I testify that you are Apostle of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said; What is this? The man told him the whole story. The Prophet ﷺ said; A man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of Paradise; but he is of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire and a man may do what may seem to the people as the deeds of the dwellers of the Hell-Fire; but he is from the dwellers of Paradise.

So; the people wondered all that night as to who would receive the flag and in the morning everyone hoped that he would be that person. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Where is Ali? He was told that Ali was suffering from eye-trouble; so he applied saliva to his eyes and invoked Allah to cure him. He at once got cured as if he had no ailment. The Prophet ﷺ gave him the flag. Ali said; Should I fight them till they become like us i.e. Muslim ? The Prophet ﷺ said; Go to them patiently and calmly till you enter the land. Then; invite them to Islam; and inform them what is enjoined upon them; for; by Allah; if Allah gives guidance to somebody through you; it is better for you than possessing red camels.

He said; The face of the Prophet ﷺ as wounded and one of his front teeth as broken and the helmet over his head was smashed. Fatima washed of the blood while Ali held water. When she saw that bleeding was increasing continuously; she burnt a mat of date-palm leaves till it turned into ashes which she put over the wound and thus the bleeding ceased.

    Narrated Sahl: The Prophet ﷺ sent for a woman from the emigrants and she had a slave who was a carpenter. The Prophet said to her Order your slave to prepare the wood pieces for the pulpit. So; she ordered her slave who went and cut the wood from the tamarisk and prepared the pulpit; for the Prophet. When he finished the pulpit; the woman informed the Prophet ﷺ that it had been finished. The Prophet ﷺ asked her to send that pulpit to him; so they brought it. The Prophet ﷺ lifted it and placed it at the place in which you see now.

When the Prophet ﷺ finished his job with which he was busy ; he said; Where is the boy? Abu Usaid replied; We have sent him home. The Prophet ﷺ said; What is his name? Abu Usaid said; His name is so-and-so. The Prophet ﷺ said; No; his name is AlMundhir. So he called him AlMundhir from that day.

    Narrated Sahl: When the helmet of the Prophet ﷺ was smashed on his head and blood covered his face and one of his front teeth got broken; Ali brought the water in his shield and Fatima the Prophet daughter washed him. But when she saw that the bleeding increased more by the water; she took a mat; burnt it; and placed the ashes on the wound of the Prophet ﷺ and so the blood stopped oozing out.

Then the third civil strife took place and it did not subside till it had exhausted all the strength of the people.

  • Narrated Said Bin Jubair: Ibn Abbas in the
    Narrated Said Bin Jubair: Ibn Abbas in the explanation of the statement of Allah Move not your tongue concerning the Quran to make haste therewith. 75.16 said Allah Messenger ﷺ used to bear the revelation with great trouble and used to move his lips quickly with the Inspiration. Ibn Abbas moved his lips saying; I am moving my lips in front of you as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to move his. Said moved his lips saying: I am moving my lips; as I saw Ibn Abbas moving his. Ibn Abbas added; So Allah revealed Move not your tongue concerning the Quran to make haste therewith. It is for Us to collect it and to give you O Muhammad the ability to recite it the Quran 75.16-17 which means that Allah will make him the Prophet remember the portion of the Quran which was revealed at that time by heart and recite it. The statement of Allah: And when we have recited it to you O Muhammad through Gabriel then you follow its Quran recital 75.18 means listen to it and be silent. Then it is for Us Allah to make it clear to you 75.19 means Then it is for Allah to make you recite it and its meaning will be clear by itself through your tongue. Afterwards; Allah Messenger ﷺ used to listen to Gabriel whenever he came and after his departure he used to recite it as Gabriel had recited it.

    Narrated Said Bin Jubair: Ibn Abbas was asked; How old were you when the Prophet ﷺ died? He replied. At that time I had been circumcised. At that time; people did not circumcise the boys till they attained the age of puberty. Saeed Bin Jubair said; Ibn Abbas said; When the Prophet died; I had already been circumcised.

You; a guinea pig; descending from Qadum Dan; blaming me for killing a person whom Allah favored with martyrdom with my hand; and whom He forbade to degrade me with his hand.

He said; By Him in Whose Hands Abu Huraira life is; I know it through the statement of the true and truly inspired one i.e. the Prophet. The people asked; What does the Statement say? He replied; Allah and His Apostle asylum granted to Dhimmis; i.e. non-Muslims living in a Muslim territory will be outraged; and so Allah will make the hearts of these Dhimmis so daring that they will refuse to pay the Jizya they will be supposed to pay.

    Narrated Said: Abu Shuraih said; When Amr Bin Saeed was sending the troops to Mecca to fight Abdullah Bin AlZubair I said to him; O chief! Allow me to tell you what the Prophet ﷺ said on the day following the conquests of Mecca. My ears heard and my heart comprehended; and I saw him with my own eyes; when he said it. He glorified and praised Allah and then said; Allah and not the people has made Mecca a sanctuary. So anybody who has belief in Allah and the Last Day i.e. a Muslim should neither shed blood in it nor cut down its trees. If anybody argues that fighting is allowed in Mecca as Allah Messenger ﷺ did fight in Mecca ; tell him that Allah gave permission to His Apostle; but He did not give it to you. The Prophet ﷺ added: Allah allowed me only for a few hours on that day of the conquest and today now its sanctity is the same valid as it was before. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it this information to those who are absent. Abu Shuraih was asked; What did Amr reply? He said Amr said; O Abu Shuraih! I know better than you in this respect. Mecca does not give protection to one who disobeys Allah or runs after committing murder; or theft and takes refuge in Mecca.

But Allah Messenger ﷺ said to my father ; Leave her; Allah Messenger ﷺ then addressing me said; May you live so long that your dress gets worn out; and you will mend it many times; and then wear another till it gets worn out i.e. May Allah prolong your life. The sub-narrator; Abdullah aid; That garment which she was wearing remained usable for a long period..

He replied; The Prophet ﷺ used to offer the Zuhr prayer when the sun just declined from its highest position at noon; the Asr at a time when if a man went to the farthest place in Medina after praying he would find the sun still hot bright. The sub narrator said: I have forgotten what Abu Barza said about the Maghrib prayer. The Prophet ﷺ never found any harm in delaying the Isha prayer to the first third of the night and he never liked to sleep before it and to talk after it. He used to offer the morning prayer at a time when after finishing it one could recognize the person sitting beside him and used to recite between 60 to 100 verses in one or both the rakat.

    Narrated Sakhr AlGhamidi: The Prophet ﷺ said: O Allah; bless my people in their early mornings. When he sent out a detachment or an army; he sent them at the beginning of the day. Sakhr was a merchant; and he would send off his merchandise at the beginning of the day; and he became rich and had much wealth.Abu Dawud said: He is Sakhr Bin Wadaah.

  • Narrated Sakhr Ibn AlAyla AlAhmasi: The Me
    Narrated Sakhr Ibn AlAyla AlAhmasi: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided Thaqif. When Sakhr heard this; he proceeded on his horse along with some horsemen to support the Prophet ﷺ. He found the Prophet of Allah ﷺ had returned and he did not conquer Taif. On that day Sakhr made a covenant with Allah and had His protection that he would not depart from that fortress until they the inhabitants surrendered to the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He did not leave them until they had surrendered to the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Sakhr then wrote to him: To proceed: Thaqif have surrendered to your command; Messenger of Allah; and I am on my way to them. They have horses with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then ordered prayers to be offered in congregation. He then prayed for Ahmas ten times: O Allah; send blessings the horses and the men of Ahmas. The people came and Mughirah Ibn Shubah said to him: Prophet of Allah; Sakhr took my paternal aunt while she embraced Islam like other Muslims. He called him and said: Sakhr; when people embrace Islam; they have security of their blood and property. Give back to Mughirah his paternal aunt. So he returned his aunt to him and asked the Prophet of Allah ﷺ : What about Banu Sulaym who have run away for fear of Islam and left that water? He said: Prophet of Allah; allow me and my people to settle there. He said: Yes. So he allowed him to settle there. Banu Sulaym then embraced Islam; and they came to Sakhr. They asked him to return their water to them. But he refused. So they came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: Prophet of Allah; we embraced Islam and came to Sakhr so that he might return our water to us. But he has refused. He the Prophet then came to him and said: When people embrace Islam; they secure their properties and blood. Return to the people their water. He said: Yes; Prophet of Allah. I saw that the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reddening at that moment; being ashamed of taking back from him the slave-girl and the water.

He refused to lead the prayer and said; Lead the prayer of your friend. Abu Qatada said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I undertake to pay his debt. Allah Messenger ﷺ then led his funeral prayer.

    Narrated Salama Bin AlAkwa: Ali remained behind the Prophet ﷺ during the battle of Khaibar as he way suffering from some eye trouble but then he said; How should I stay behind Allah Messenger ﷺ ? So; he set out till he joined the Prophet. On the eve of the day of the conquest of Khaibar; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; No doubt I will give the flag or; tomorrow; a man whom Allah and His Apostle love or who loves Allah and His apostle will take the flag. Allah will bestow victory upon him. Suddenly Ali joined us though we were not expecting him. The people said; Here is Ali. So; Allah Messenger ﷺ gave the flag to him and Allah bestowed victory upon him.

    Narrated Salama Bin AlAkwa: An infidel spy came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was on a journey. The spy sat with the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and started talking and then went away. The Prophet ﷺ said to his companions ; Chase and kill him. So; I killed him. The Prophet ﷺ then gave him the belongings of the killed spy in addition to his share of the war booty.

    Narrated Salama Bin AlAkwa: Once I went from Medina towards AlGhaba before the first Adhan of the Fajr Prayer. The shecamels of Allah Messenger ﷺ used to graze at a place called Dhi Qarad. A slave of Abdulrahman Bin Auf met me on the way and said; The camels of Allah Messenger ﷺ had been taken away by force. I asked; Who had taken them? He replied The people of Ghatafan. I made three loud cries to the people of Medina saying; O Sabahah! I made the people between the two mountains of Medina hear me. Then I rushed onward and caught up with the robbers while they were watering the camels. I started throwing arrows at them as I was a good archer and I was saying; I am the son of AlAkwa; and today will perish the wicked people. I kept on saying like that till I restored the shecamels of the Prophet ; I also snatched thirty Burda i.e. garments from them. Then the Prophet ﷺ and the other people came there; and I said; O Allah Prophet! I have stopped the people of Ghatafan from taking water and they are thirsty now. So send some people after them now. On that the Prophet said; O the son of AlAkwa! You have over-powered them; so forgive them. Then we all came back and Allah Messenger ﷺ seated me behind him on his camel till we entered Medina.

  • Narrated Salama Bin AlAkwa: Once the Prophet ﷺ ordered a person on Ashura the tenth of Muharram to announce; Whoever has eaten; should not eat any more; but fast; and who has not eaten should not eat; but complete his fast till the end of the day.  +
