    Yazid Bin Hayan reported: We went to him Zaid Bin Arqam and said to him. You have found goodness for you had the honour to live in the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and offered prayer behind him; and the rest of the hadith is the same but with this variation of wording that lie said: Behold; for I am leaving amongst you two weighty things; one of which is the Book of Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; and that is the rope of Allah. He who holds it fast would be on right guidance and he who abandons it would be in error; and in this hadith these words are also found: We said: Who are amongst the members of the household? Arent the wives of the Holy Prophet included amongst the members of his house hold? Thereupon he said: No; by Allah; a woman lives with a man as his wife for a certain period; he then divorces her and she goes back to her parents and to her people; the members of his household include his ownself and his kith and kin who are related to him by blood and for him the acceptance of Zakat is prohibited.

    Yazid Bin Hayan reported; I went along with Husain Bin Sabra and Umar Bin Muslim to Zaid Bin Arqam and; as we sat by his side; Husain said to him: Zaid. you have been able to acquire a great virtue that you saw Allah Messenger ﷺ listened to his talk; fought by his side in different battles; offered prayer behind me. Zaid; you have in fact earned a great virtue. Zaid; narrate to us what you heard from Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said: I have grown old and have almost spent my age and I have forgotten some of the things which I remembered in connection with Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so accept whatever I narrate to you; and which I do not narrate do not compel me to do that. He then said: One day Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up to deliver sermon at a watering place known as Khumm situated between Mecca and Medina. He praised Allah; extolled Him and delivered the sermon and. exhorted us and said: Now to our purpose. O people; I am a human being. I am about to receive a messenger the angel of death from my Lord and I; in response to Allah call; would bid good-bye to you ; but I am leaving among you two weighty things: the one being the Book of Allah in which there is right guidance and light; so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He exhorted us to hold fast to the Book of Allah and then said: The second are the members of my household I remind you of your duties to the members of my family. He Husain said to Zaid: Who are the members of his household? Arent his wives the members of his family? Thereupon he said: His wives are the members of his family but here the members of his family are those for whom acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. And he said: Who are they? Thereupon he said: Ali and the offspring of Ali; Aqil and the offspring of Aqil and the offspring of Jafar and the offspring of Abbas. Husain said: These are those for whom the acceptance of Zakat is forbidden. Zaid said: Yes.

I Yazid Bin Hurmuz wrote a letter on behalf of Ibn Abbas to Najdah. They participated in the battle along with the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; but no portion from the spoils was allotted to them; they were given only a little of it.

He led the group which was along with him in a rakah; then remained standing while they finished the prayer by themselves. Then they departed and formed a row facing the enemy. Then the second group came and he led them in the remaining rakah; after which he remained seated while they finished the prayer themselves. He then led them in salutation.

    Yazid Bin Umairah; who was one of the companions of Muadh Bin Jabal said: Whenever he muadh Bin jabal sat in a meeting for preaching; he would say: Allah is a just arbiter; those who doubt would perish. One day Muadh Bin jabal said: In the times after you there would be trails in which riches would be abundant. During these trails the Quran would be easy so much so that every believer; hypocrite; man; woman; young; grown up; slave and free man will learn it. Then a man might say: What happened with the people that they do not follow me while I read the Quran? They are not going to follow me until I introduce a novelty for them other than it. So avoid that which is innovated in religion ; for whichever is innovated is an error. I warn you of the deviation of a scholar from right guidance; for sometimes Satan utters a word of error through the tongue of a scholar; and sometimes a hypocrites may speak a word of truth. I said to Muadh Bin jabal: I am at a loss to understand may Allah have mercy on you that a learned man sometimes may speak a word of error and a hypocrite may speak a word of truth. He replied: Yes; avoid the speech of a learned man on distract you from him the learned ; for it is possible that he may withdraw from these well-known things ; and you get the truth when you hear it; for truth has light.Abu Dawud said: In this tradition Mamar on the authority of AlZuhrl said: The words wa la yun iyannaka instead of wa la yuthniyannaka; with the same meaning: it may not distract you salih Bin Kaisan on the authority of AlZurhrl said in this tradition the words Almushtaharat well-know things. He also said the word La yuthniyannaka as Uqail mentioned. Ibn ishaq; on the authority of AlZuhri; said: Yes; if you are doubtful about the speech of a scholar until you say: WHAT did he mean by this word?

When the Messenger of Allah s.a.w saw him he began crying because of the good life he previously had compared to the state that he was in that day. Then the Messenger of Allah s.a.w said:How will you people be; when the late morning comes upon one of you while wearing a Hullah; and at the end of the day he is in; another Hullah; when a platter is placed in front of him while another is removed; and you cover your houses just as the Kabah is covered? They said: O Messenger of Allah! On that day we will be better than we are today; devoting ourselves to worship; satisfied with our good fortune. So the Messenger of Allah s.a.w said: No; today you are better than you will be on that day.

When the people cut off the fruits; and were demanded to pay the price; the buyer said: The fruits have been smitten by duman; qusham and murad fruit diseases on which they used to dispute. When their disputes which were brought to the Prophet ﷺ increased; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them as an advice: No; do not sell fruits till they are in good condition; due to a large number of their disputes and differences.

He said: I heard him say and he pointed with his hand towards the east that these would be a people who would recite the Quran with their tongues and it would not go beyond their collar bones. They would pass clean through their religion just as the arrow passes through the prey.

    Yusair Bin Jabir reported: Once there blew a red storm in Kufah that there came a person who had nothing to say but these words : Abdullah Bin Masud; the Last Hour has come. He Abdullah Bin Masud was sitting reclining against something; and he said: The Last Hour would not come until shares of inheritance are not distributed and there is no rejoicing over spoils of war. Then he said pointing towards Syria; with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them Syrians. I said: You mean Rome? And he said: Yes; and there would be a terrible fight and the Muslims would prepare a detachment for fighting unto death which would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day; a new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and Allah will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen; so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks; it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. There would be such a large scale massacre that when counting would be done; only one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjal has taken your place among your offspring. They will; therefore; throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen; as a scouting party. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the color of their horses. They will be the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day.

He the narrator further said: He took hold of a wood or something like it from the earth and said: It freedom of a slave has not the reward evert equal to it; but the fact that I heard Allah Messenger way ﷺ say: He who slaps his slave or beats him; the expiation for it is that he should set him free.

He said: Allah Messenger ﷺ has forbidden the preparation of Nabidh in Hantama and that is a pitcher besmeared with pitch ; in gourd and that is pumpkin; in the varnished jar; in hollow stump and in wooden vessels. This Naqir is the wood of date-palm from which the vessel is fashioned out or hollowed out; but he commanded us to prepare Nabidh in waterskins.

I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and informed him about that and he sent someone to Abdullah Bin Ubay and he asked him whether he had said that or not. He took an oath to the fact that he had not done that and told that it was Zaid who had stated a lie to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Zaid said: I was much perturbed because of this until this verse was revealed attesting my truth: When the hypocrites come lxiii. 1. Allah Apostle ﷺ then called them in order to seek forgiveness for them; but they turned away their heads as if they were hooks of wood fixed in the wall lxiii. 4 ; and they were in fact apparently good-looking persons.

    Zaid Bin Arqam said: We were participating in a battle along with the Messenger of Allah; and there were some people from the Bedouins with us. So we all rushed toward some water and the Bedouins raced us to it. One of the Bedouins beat his companions to it and he tried to obstruct the pond; he placed rocks around it and he put a leather sheet over it until his companions came. He said: A man among the Ansar reached the Bedouin and he dropped the reigns of his camel to drink; but the Bedouin would not allow him. So he started removing the barriers around the water; but the Bedouin raised a stick beating the Ansari man on the head; and smashed it. He went to Abdullah Bin Ubay; the head of the hypocrite; to inform him he was in fact one of his companions. So Abdullah Bin Ubay became enraged; the he said: Do not spend anything on whoever is with Muhammad until they depart. Meaning the Bedouins. They were preparing food for the Messenger of Allah. So Abdullah said: When they depart from Muhammad; then bring Muhammad some food; and let him and whoever is with him eat it. Then he said to his companions: If we return to AlMadinah; indeed the more honorable will expel therefrom the meaner. Zaid said: And I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah; and I had heard Abdullah Bin Ubay; so I informed my uncle who went to tell the Messenger of Allah. He sent a message to him Abdullah but he took an oath and denied it. He said: So the Messenger of Allah accepted what he said and did not believe me. So my uncle came to me and said: You only wanted the Messenger of Allah to hate you; and the Muslims to say that you lied. He said: I suffered such worry as has not been suffered by anyone else. He said: Later while I was on the move with the Messenger of Allah on a journey; my mind was relieved of worry; since the Messenger of Allah came to me and rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. I would never be happier than with that as long as the world remained. Then Abu Bakr caught up to me; and said: What did the Messenger of Allah say to you? I said: He did not say anything to me; he only rubbed my ear and smiled in my face. He said: Receive the good news! Then Umar caught up with me and I said the same to him as I had said to Abu Bakr. In the morning the Messenger of Allah recited Surat AlMunafiqin.

    Zaid Bin Arqam; on seeing some people praying in the forenoon; said: They well know that prayer at another time than this is more excellent; for Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The prayer of those who are penitent is observed when your weaned camels feel the heat of the sun.

He found that it had languished in the hand of its possessor; and he was a man of meagre resources He Hadrat Umar intended to buy it. He came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: Dont buy that even if you get it for a dirham for he who gets back the charity is like a dog which swallows its vomit.

    Zaid Bin Aslam reported on the authority of the chain of Malik: The Prophet ﷺ said: If one of you is in doubt about his prayer; and if he is sure that he prayed three rakah; he should stand and complete one rakah along with its prostrations. Then he should sit and recite the tashahhud. When he finishes the prayer; and there remains nothing except salutation; he should make two prostrations while he is sitting and afterwards should give the salutation. The narrator then narrated the tradition similar to that of Malik.Abu Dawud said: Similarly; this tradition has been narrated by Ibn Wahb from Malik; Hafs Bin Maisarah; Dawud Bin Qais and Hisham Bin Sad. But Hisham projected it to Abu Saeed AlKhudri.

    Zaid Bin Aslam reported that Abd AlMalik Bin Marwan sent some domestic goods for decoration to Umm Darda on his own behalf; and when it was night Abd AlMalik got up and called for the servant. It seemed as if he the servant was late in responding to his call ; so he Abd AlMalik invoked curse upon him; and when it was morning Umm Darda said to him: I heard you cursing your servant during the night when you called him; and she said: I heard Abu AlDarda as saying that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The invoker of curse would neither be intercessor nor witness on the Day of Resurrection.
