So; he made up his mind to congregate them behind Ubai Bin Ka Bin Then on another night I went again in his company and the people were praying behind their reciter. On that; Umar remarked; What an excellent Bida i.e. innovation in religion this is; but the prayer which they do not perform; but sleep at its time is better than the one they are offering. He meant the prayer in the last part of the night. In those days people used to pray in the early part of the night. + |

In the morning; the people spoke about it and then a large number of them gathered and prayed behind him on the second night. In the next morning the people again talked about it and on the third night the Masjid was full with a large number of people. Allah Messenger ﷺ came out and the people prayed behind him. On the fourth night the Masjid was overwhelmed with people and could not accommodate them; but the Prophet ﷺ came out only for the morning prayer. When the morning prayer was finished he recited Tashah-hud and addressing the people said; Amma badu; your presence was not hidden from me but I was afraid lest the night prayer Qiyam should be enjoined on you and you might not be able to carry it on. So; Allah Apostle died and the situation remained like that i.e. people prayed individually. + |

The bedouin further asked; Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards fasting. He replied; You have to fast during the whole month of Ramadan; unless you want to fast more as Nawafil. The bedouin further asked; Tell me how much Zakat Allah has enjoined on me. Thus; Allah Messenger ﷺ informed him about all the rules i.e. fundamentals of Islam. The bedouin then said; By Him Who has honored you; I will neither perform any Nawafil nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; If he is saying the truth; he will succeed or he will be granted Paradise. + |

Umar said; I do not ask about that; but I ask about those afflictions which will spread like the waves of the sea. Hudhaifa replied; There is a closed gate in front of those afflictions. Umar asked; Will that gate be opened or broken? He replied; It will be broken. Umar said; Then the gate will not be closed again till the Day of Resurrection. We said to Masruq; Would you ask Hudhaifa whether Umar knew what that gate symbolized? He asked him and he replied He Umar knew it as one knows that there will be night before tomorrow; morning. + |
