  14. Are the people really talking in this way I kept on weeping that night till dawn I could neither stop weeping nor sleep then in the morning again I kept on weeping
  15. So on that day Allah Messenger got up on the pulpit and complained about Abdullah Bin Ubai Bin Salul before his companions saying O you Muslims Who will relieve me from that man who has hurt me with his evil statement about my family By Allah I know nothing except good about my family and they have blamed a man about whom I know nothing except good and he used never to enter my home except with me

  17. Allah Apostle then recited Tashah hud and then said Amma Badu O Aisha I have been informed so andso about you if you are innocent then soon Allah will reveal your innocence and if you have committed a sin then repent to Allah and ask Him for forgiveness for when a slave confesses his sins and asks Allah for forgiveness Allah accepts his repentance

  23. By Allah I have been bestowed with the power of speaking fluently and eloquently but by Allah I knew well that if today I tell you a lie to seek your favor Allah would surely make you angry with me in the near future but if I tell you the truth though you will get angry because of it I hope for Allah Forgiveness
  24. By Allah they continued blaming me so much that I intended to return to the Prophet and accuse myself of having told a lie but I said to them Is there anybody else who has met the same fate as I have They replied Yes there are two men who have said the same thing as you have and to both of them was given the same order as given to you
  25. On that some of my family members said to me Will you also ask Allah Messenger to permit your wife to serve you as he has permitted the wife of Hilal Bin Umaiya to serve him I said By Allah I will not ask the permission of Allah Messenger regarding her for I do not know What Allah Messenger would say if I asked him to permit her to serve me while I am a young man
  26. When I had offered the Fajr prayer on the th morning on the roof of one of our houses and while I was sitting in the condition which Allah described in the my very soul seemed straitened to me and even the earth seemed narrow to me for all its spaciousness there I heard the voice of one who had ascended the mountain of Sala calling with his loudest voice O Kaab Bin Malik Be happy by receiving good tidings
  27. Narrated Abdullah Bin Kaab I heard Kaab Bin Malik at the time he remained behind and did not join the battle of Tabuk saying By Allah no blessing has Allah bestowed upon me besides my guidance to Islam better than that of helping me speak the truth to Allah Messenger otherwise I would have told the Prophet a lie and would have been ruined like those who had told a lie when the Divine Inspiration was revealed They will swear by Allah to you Muslims when you return to them
  28. He said Some people used to hide themselves while answering the call of nature in an open space lest they be exposed to the sky and also when they had sexual relation with their wives in an open space lest they be exposed to the sky so the above revelation was sent down regarding them
  29. Um Mistah stumbled over her robe whereupon she said Let Mistah be ruined I said to her What a bad word you have said Do you abuse a man who has taken part in the Battle of Badr She said O you there Didnt you hear what he has said I said And what did he say She then told me the statement of the people of the Ifk forged statement which added to my ailment
  30. He said to Saad Bin Muadh By Allah the Eternal you have told a lie You shall not kill him and you will never be able to kill him On that Usaid Bin Hudair the cousin of Saad Bin Muadh got up and said to Saad Bin Ubada You are a liar By Allah the Eternal we will surely kill him and you are a hypocrite defending the hypocrites So the two tribes of AlAous and AlKhazraj got excited till they were on the point of fighting with each other while Allah Messenger was standing on the pulpit
  31. Allah Messenger recited the Tashahhud after he had sat down and then said Thereafter O Aisha I have been informed such and such a thing about you and if you are innocent Allah will reveal your innocence and if you have committed a sin then ask for Allah forgiveness and repent to Him for when a slave confesses his sin and then repents to Allah Allah accepts his repentance
  32. But by Allah I never thought that Allah would sent down about my affair Divine Inspiration that would be recited forever as I considered myself too unworthy to be talked of by Allah with something that was to be recited but I hoped that Allah Messenger might have a vision in which Allah would prove my innocence
  33. So there overtook him the same hard condition which used to overtake him when he was Divinely Inspired so that the drops of his sweat were running down like pearls though it was a cold winter day and that was because of the heaviness of the Statement which was revealed to him
  34. By Allah they accused her of being with a man about whom I have never known anything bad and he never entered my house unless I was present there and whenever I went on a journey he went with me
  35. be ruined I said to her O mother Why do you abuse your Son On that Um Mistah became silent for a while and stumbling again she said Let Mistah be ruined I said to her Why do you abuse your son She stumbled for the third time and said Let Mistah be ruined whereupon I rebuked her for that
  36. She said What should I say When my parents did not give a reply to the Prophet I said I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah and that Muhammad is His Apostle And after praising and glorifying Allah as He deserves I said Now then by Allah if I were to tell you that I have not done this evil action and Allah is a witness that I am telling the truth that would not be of any use to me on your part because you people have spoken about it and your hearts have absorbed it and if I were to tell you that I have done this sin and Allah knows that I have not done it then you will say She has confessed herself guilty
  37. You have heard this story but neither did not deny it nor change it to defend me Aisha used to say But as regards Zainab Bint Jahsh the Prophet wife Allah protected her because of her piety so she did not say anything except good about me but her sister Hamna was ruined among those who were ruined
  38. Those who used to speak evil about me were Mistah Hassan Bin Thabit and the hypocrite Abdullah Bin Ubai who used to spread that news and tempt others to speak of it and it was he and Hamna who had the greater share therein
  39. She said How strange you are O son of AlKhattab You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter Hafsa surely argues with Allah Messenger so much that he remains angry for a full day Umar then reported how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her O my daughter Do you argue with Allah Messenger so that he remains angry the whole day H
  40. She said O son of AlKhattab It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives By Allah by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger
  41. By Allah they accused her of being with a man about whom I have never known anything bad and he never entered my house unless I was present there and whenever I went on a journey he went with me
  42. On our return Umm Mistah stumbled and said Let Mistah be ruined I said to her O mother Why do you abuse your son On that Umm Mistah became silent for a while and stumbling again she said Let Mistah be ruined I said to her O mother Why do you abuse your son She stumbled for the third time and said Let Mistah be ruined I said to her O mother Why do you abuse your son Upon that she said By Allah I do not abuse him except because of you
  43. She said What should I say When my parents did not reply to the Prophet I said the Tashahhud praised and glorified Allah as His due and I said Then by Allah If I were to tell you that I have not done this and Allah the Mighty and Sublime is witness that I am telling the truth that would not be of any use to me on your part because you people have spoken about it and your hearts have absorbed it as truth and if I were to tell you that I have done this sin and Allah knows that I have not done it then you will say She has confessed her guilt
  44. I poured water for his Wudu from a water holder and I said O Commander of the Believers Who are the two women among the wives of the Prophet about whom Allah said If your two turn in repentance you hearts are indeed so inclined He said to me I am astonished at you O Ibn Abbas AlZubair one of the narrators said By Allah He disliked what he asked him but he did not withhold it from him
  45. One day I became angry with my wife when she started talking back to to me she said What bothers you about that By Allah The wives of the Prophet talk back to him and one of them may stay away from him a whole day until the night He said I said to myself Whoever among them has done that then she has thwarted herself and lost
  46. One day I became angry with my wife so when she started talking back to me I rebuked her and she said What bothers you about that By Allah The wives of the Prophet talk back to him and one of them may stay away from him a whole day until the night He said I said to Hafsah Do you talk back to the Messenger of Allah She said Yes and one of us may stay away from him all day until the night

  50. Thereupon Allah Messenger mounted the pulpit and sought vindication against Abdullah Bin Ubay Bin Salul and he further said Who would exonerate me from imputations of that person who has troubled me in regard to my family By Allah I find nothing in my wife but goodness and the person whom the people have mentioned in this connection is according to my knowledge a thoroughly pious person and he did never get into my house but along with me
  51. You are a hypocrite and so you argue in defence of the hypocrites and thus both the tribes Aous and Khazraj were flared up until they were about to fall upon one another and Allah Messenger kept standing upon the pulpit and Allah Messenger tried to subside their anger until they became silent and thus there was silence
  52. Allah Messenger recited Tashahhud there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Apostle and then said Coming to the point Aisha this is what has reached me about you and if you are innocent Allah would Himself vindicate your honour and if accidentally there has been a lapse on your part sock forgiveness of Allah He will pardon thee for when a servant makes a confession of his fault and turns to Him penitently Allah also turns to him mercifully accepting his repentance
  53. I was a small girl at that time and I had not read much of the but I said By Allah I perceive that you have heard about this and it has settled down in your mind and you have taken it to be true so if I say to you that I am quite innocent and Allah knows that I am innocent you would never believe me to be true and if I confess to the alleged lapse before you whereas Allah knows that I am completely innocent and I have not committed this sin at all in that case You will take me to be true and by Allah I therefore find no other alternative for me and for you except that what the father of Yousuf said My course is comely patience
  54. By Allah I was fully aware of this fact that I was innocent but I did not expect that Allah would descend Wahy Matlu ic Wahy in my case as I did not think myself so much important that Allah the Exalted and Glorious would speak in this matter in words to be recited

Aisha said It was upon this that Allah the Exalted and Glorious revealed this verse And let not those who possess dignity and ease among you swear to give to the near of the kin up to Yearn ye not that Allah may forgive you Hibban Bin Musa said that Abdullah Bin Mubarak used to say It is a verse contained in the Book which most eminently brightens the hope

  59. Umm Salama said to me Umar Bin AlKhattab how strange is it that you meddle with every matter so much so that you are anxious to interfere between Allah Messenger and his wives and this perturbed me so much that I refrained from saying what I had to say so I came out of her apartment and I had a friend from the Anar

  63. Does everyone amongst you not fear the wrath of Allah upon her due to the wrath of His Messenger and as a result thereof she may perish So do not retort upon Allah Messenger and do not ask him for anything but ask me that which you desire and the frank behaviour of your companion may not mislead you if she is more graceful and is dearer to Allah Messenger than you meaning Aisha Allah be pleased with her
