- It was narrated that Aishah said that every time it was her night for the Messenger of Allah to stay with her he would go out at the end of the night to AlBaqi and say As salamu alaykum dara qawmin muminin wa inna wa iyakum mutawaidun ghadan wa mutawakilun wa inna in sha Allahu bikum lahiqun
- He said Allahu Akbar every time he went down and Allahu Akbar every time he came up then he said As salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah to his right and AlSalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah to his left
- It was narrated from Abdullah that The Prophet used to say salam to his right and to his left AlSalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah as salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah until the whiteness of his cheek could be seen from here and the whiteness of his cheek from here
- Ali Bin Hujr as Sadi narrated to us Ali Bin Mushir narrated to us Muhammad Bin Qays i AlAsadi informed us on authority of Ali Ibn Rabiat AlAsadi on authority of AlMughirat Ibn Shubah on authority of the Prophet peace and blessings of Allah upon him a similar narration however he did not mention the words Indeed a lie upon me is not like a lie upon anyone else
- Ubayd Allah Bin Muadh AlAnbari narrated to us my father narrated to us and Muhammad Bin AlMuthanna narrated to us Abd AlRahman Bin Mahdi both narrated to us Shubah narrated to us on authority of Khubayb Bin Abd ir Rahman on authority of Hafs Bin Asim on authority of Abi Hurayrah he said the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings of Allah upon him said It is enough of a lie for a man to narrate everything he hears
- They the companions of the Holy Prophet said Who would be those Messenger of Allah He the Holy Prophet said They would be those who neither practise charm not take omens nor do they cauterise but they repose their trust in their Lord
- When any one of you sits during the prayer he should say All services rendered by words by acts of worship and all good things are due to Allah
- Aisha reported When the Messenger of Allah pronounced salutation he salutation longer than it took him to say O Allah Thou art Peace and peace comes from Thee blessed art Thou Possessor of Glory and Honour and in the narration of Ibn Numair the words are O Possessor of Glory and Honour
- Narrated Saad Ibn Ubadah Saad asked Messenger of Allah Umm Saad has died what form of sadaqah is best He replied Water is best
- Sad said Messenger of Allah You gave so and so so and so but did not give anything to so and so while he is a believer
- Abdullah Bin Abi Mulaikah narrated that his father entered upon Aisha and said something to her about the Divine Decree She said I heard The Messenger of Allah say Whoever says anything about the Divine decree will be questioned about that on the Day of Resurrection and whoever does not say anything about it will not be questioned about it
- But they will pass through Islam like an arrow passing through its target then he the archer picks up his arrow and looks at its iron head but does not see anything then he looks at the shaft and does not see anything then he looks at the band that which is wrapped around the iron head where it is connected to the shaft then he looks at the feather and is not sure whether he sees anything or not
- There are those who have knowledge but no understanding and there may be those who convey knowledge to those who have more understanding of it than they do
- It was narrated from Abu Huraira that whenever he left his house the Prophet would say Bismillah la hawla wa la quwata illa billah AlTuklanu ala Allah In the Name of Allah there is no power and strength except with Allah and trust is placed in Allah
- He said I prefer that he starthis prayer again but if he forgets the opening takbir with the imamand says the takbir in the first ruku I consider that enough for himif he intends by it the opening takbir
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Yazid ibn Abdullah ibn al Hadfrom Muhammad ibn Ibrahim ibn al Harith at Taymi from Abu Salama ibnAbd ar Rahman ibn Awf that Abu Hurayra said I went out to at Tur Mount Sinai and met Kab al Ahbar and sat with him
- I heard the Messenger of Allah may Allah blesshim and grant him peace say Only make a special journey to threemosques the mosque of the Haram Makka this mosque Madina andthe mosque of Ilya or the Bait al Maqdis two names of Jerusalem
- Abu Hurayra continued I said How can it be thelast period of time in the day of jumua when the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace said a muslim slavestanding in prayer and that is a time when there is no prayer Abdullah ibn Salam replied Didn t the Messenger of Allah may Allahbless him and grant him peace say Whoever sits waiting for theprayer is in prayer until he prays Abu Hurayra added Isaid Of course
- He prayed and then after he had prayed he gave a khutba tothe people and said The Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him andgrant him peace forbade fasting on these two days the day you breakyour fast after Ramadan and the day you eat from your sacrifice after Hajj
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from hisfather that Umar ibn al Khattab wrote to Abu Musa al Ashari that heshould pray asr when the sun was still pure white so that a man couldride three farsakhs before maghrib and that he should pray Ishaduring the first third of the night or if he delayed it then upuntil the middle of the night and he warned him not to be forgetful
- Yahya related to me from Malik that Abd al Karim ibnAbi l Mukhariq al Basri said Among things the Prophet may Allahbless him and grant him peace said and did are As long as you donot feel ashamed do whatever you wish the placing of one hand onthe other in prayer one places the right hand on the left beingquick to break the fast and delaying the meal before dawn
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu nNadr the mawla of Umaribn Ubaydullah that Abu Salama ibn Abd ar Rahman asked him Didn t Isee your master sit down before praying after he had entered themosque Abu n Nadr said By that he meant Umar ibnUbaydullah and he was finding fault with him for sitting down beforepraying after he had come into the mosque
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibnHazim from his father that Amr ibn Sulaym az Zuraqi said Abu Humaydas Saidi told me that they asked the Messenger of Allah may Allahbless him and grant him peace how they were to ask for blessings uponhim and he replied that they should say O Allah bless Muhammad andhis wives and his descendants asYou blessed the family of Ibrahim andgive baraka to Muhammad and his wives and his descendants as You gavebaraka to the family of Ibrahim
- Allahumma salli ala Muhammad wa azwajihi wa alihikama sallaita ala ali Ibrahim wa barakaala Muhammad wa azwajihi waalihi kama baraktaalaali Ibrahim innaka Hamidu m Majid
- Allahumma salliala Muhammad wa ali Muhammad kama sallaita Ibrahim wa baraka alaMuhammad wa ali Muhammad kama baraktaala ali Ibrahim
- A time will come upon men when their fuqaha are few but their Qur anreciters are many when the letters of the Qur an are guardedcarefully but its limits are lost when many ask but few give whenthey make the khutba long but the prayer short and put their desiresbefore their actions
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibnMuhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm from his father from Abdullah ibn Amr ibnUthman from Abu Amra al Ansari from Zayd ibn Khalid al Juhani that theMessenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace said Shall I not tell you who is the best of witnesses The one who bringshis testimony before he is asked for it or tells his testimony beforehe is asked for it
- Abd ibn Zamasaid He is my brother and the son of my father s slave girl and wasborn on my father s bed
- Yahya said that Malik related from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibnAbdullah ibn Umar from his father that Umar ibn al Khattab said What s the matter with men who have intercourse with their slave girls and then dismiss them No slave girl comes to me whose masterconfesses that he has had intercourse with her but that I connect herchild to him whether or not he has practised coitus interruptus orstopped having intercourse with her
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from hisfather from Humran the mawla of Uthman ibn Affan that Uthman ibnAffan was once sitting on the Maqaid the benches surrounding theMadina Mosque or else a stone near Uthman ibn Affan s house where hesat to discuss with people when the muadhdhin came and told him thatit was time for the asr prayer
- He said However if a jew or christian frees a slavefrom their own deen and then the freed one becomes muslim before thejew or christian who freed him becomes muslim and then the one whofreed him has become muslim his wala reverts to him because thewala was confirmed for him on the day he freed him
- If the freed one wasalready muslim when he was freed the muslim children of the christianor jew had nothing of the wala of a muslim slave because the jew andthe christian did not have the wala
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn al Munkadir andfrom Salim ibn Abi n Nadr the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah that Amiribn Sad ibn Abi Waqqas heard his father ask Usama ibn Zayd Have youheard anything from the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him andgrant him peace about the plague Usama said The Messenger ofAllah may Allah bless him and grant him peace said The plague is apunishment that was sent down on a party of the Banu Israil or whoeverwas before them
- Malik said Everyone leading an animal by the halter driving it andriding it is responsible for what the animal strikes unless the animalkicks out without anything being done to it to make it kick out
- Malik said What is done in our community about aperson who digs a well on a road or ties up an animal or does the likeof that on a road used by muslims is that since what he has done isincluded in that which he is not permitted to do in such a place heis liable for whatever injury or other thing arises from that action
- Malik said about a group of people who fight with each other and whenthe fight is broken up a man is found dead or wounded and it is notknown who did it The best of what is heard about that is that thereis blood money for him and the blood money is against the people whoargued with him
- Malik said that if a manhad sexual relations with a female slave that he owned and then hewanted to also have relations with her sister the sister was nothalal for a man until intercourse with the slave girl had been madeharam for him by marriage setting free kitaba or the like of that for instance if he had married her to his slave or someone other thanhis slave
- Yahya said that he had heardMalik say The meaning of the statement of the Prophet may Allahbless him and grant him peace Whoever vows to disobey Allah let himnot disobey Him is that for instance a man who vows that if hespeaks to such and such a person he will walk to Syria Egypt or anyother such things which are not considered as ibada is not under anyobligation by any of that even if he did speak to the man or didbreak whatever it was he swore because Allah does not demandobedience in such things
- Yahya related to me from Malik thal Yahya ibn Said heard al Qasimibn Muhammad and Sulayman ibn Yasar both mention that Yahya ibn Saidibn al As divorced the daughter of Abd ar Rahman ibn al Hakamirrevocably so Abd ar Rahman ibn al Hakam took her away A isha ummal muminin sent to Marwan ibn al Hakam who was the Amir of al Madinaat that time
- She called for perfume and put some on and said ByAllah I have no need of perfume but I heard the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace say It is not halal for awoman who trusts in Allah and the Last Day to abstain from adornmentin mourning for someone who has died for more than three nights except for four months and ten days for a husband
- Al Miqdad said Ali ibn Abi Talib went off with bits of mealand leaves on his forearms and I shall never forget the sight of themeal and the leaves on his arms and went to see Uthman ibn Affan andasked him Are you saying then that people cannot do hajj and umratogether Uthman replied That is my opinion
- He was also asked to comment on the different viewspeople had about what became haram for some one who garlanded asacrificial animal but did not intend to do either hajj or umra andhe said What we go by as far as this is concerned is what A isha umm al muminin said The Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him andgrant him peace sent his sacrificial animal off and did not go therehimself and there was nothing that Allah had made halal for him thatwas haram for him until the animal had been sacrificed
- She canparticipate in all the rituals along with everybody else except thatshe cannot do tawaf of the House nor the say between Safa and Marwa nor can she come near the mosque until she is pure
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Nubayh ibn Wahb who was from the tribe of Bani Abd ad Dar that Umar ibn Ubaydullahsent a message to Aban ibn Uthman who was amir of the hajj at thetime while both of them were in ihram saying I want to marry BintShayba ibn Jubayr to Talha ibn Umar and I want you to be present
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam that Ata ibnYasar had told him from Abu Qatada the same hadith about the wildass as that of Abu n Nadr except that in the hadith of Zayd ibn Aslamthe Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace said Do you still have any of its meat Hajj
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that heheard Said ibn al Musayyab relating from Abu Hurayra that he was oncecoming back from Bahrayn and when he reached ar Rabadha he found acaravan of people from Iraq in ihram who asked him whether they couldeat the meat of some game which they had found with the people of ar Rabadha and he told them they could eat it
- However some one that sets his dog aftergame outside the Haram and then follows it until it is hunted down inthe Haram does not have to pay any forfeit unless he set the dogafter the game near to the Haram
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Adi ibnThabit al Ansari that Abdullah ibn Yazid al Khatmi told him that AbuAyyub al Ansari told him that he prayed maghrib and isha together atMuzdalifa during the farewell hajj with the Messenger of Allah mayAllah bless him and grant him peace
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibrahim ibn Uqba from Kuraybthe mawla of Abdullah ibn Abbas from Ibn Abbas that the Messenger ofAllah may Allah bless him and grant him peace passed a woman in alitter and it was said to her This is the Messenger of Allah mayAllah bless him and grant him peace and she took the forearms of ayoung boy who was with her and said Does this one have a hajj Messenger of Allah and he said Yes and you have a reward
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Abd Rabbih ibn Said from AbuBakr ibn Abd ar Rahman ibn al Harith ibn Hisham from A isha and UmmSalama the wives of the Prophet may Allah bless him and grant himpeace that the Prophet may Allah bless him and grant him peace usedto get up in the morning junub from intercourse not a dream inRamadan and then he would fast
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd at Tawil that Anas ibnMalik said We once travelled with the Messenger of Allah may Allahbless him and grant him peace in Ramadan and those who were fastingdid not find fault with those who were not and those who were notfasting did not find fault with those who were
- Yahya related to me and I myself heard Malik say The bestthat I have heard about some one who has to fast for two consecutivemonths because of having killed someone by mistake or havingpronounced the dhihar form of divorce becoming very ill and having tobreak his fast is that if he recovers from his illness and is strongenough to fast he must not delay doing so
- Malik said What showsthat zakat is only taken once from a debt which is out of hand forsome years before it is recovered is that if goods remain with a manfor trading purposes for some years before he sells them he only hasto pay zakat on their prices once
- Malik said Our position regarding some onewho owes a debt andhas goods which are worth enough to pay off the debt and also has anamount of ready money which is zakatable is that he pays the zakat onthe ready money which he has to hand
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Zurayqibn Hayyan who was in charge of Egypt in the time of al Walid Sulayman and Umar ibn Abd al Aziz mentioned that Umar ibn Abd al Aziz had written to him saying Assess the muslims that you comeacross and take from what is apparent of their wealth and whatevermerchandise is in their charge one dinar for every forty dinars andthe same proportion from what is less than that down to twenty dinars and if the amount falls short of that by one third of a dinar thenleave it and do not take anything from it
- Malik said The position among us in Madina concerning goods which are being managed for trading purposes is thatif a man pays zakat on his wealth and then buys goods with it whether cloth slaves or something similar and then sells them beforea year has elapsed over them he does not pay zakat on that wealthuntil a year elapses over it from the day he paid zakat on it
- Maliksaid The position among us concerning a man who uses gold or silverto buy wheat dates or whatever for trading purposes and keeps ituntil a year has elapsed over it and then sells it is that he onlyhas to pay zakat on it if and when he sells it if the price reaches azakatable amount
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Aslam the mawla ofUmar ibn al Khattab that Umar ibn al Khattab imposed a jizya tax offour dinars on those living where gold was the currency and fortydirhams on those living where silver was the currency
- He had nine platters and on each of the plattershe put some of every fruit and delicacy that there was and then sentthem to the wives of the Prophet may Allah bless him and grant himpeace and the one he sent to his daughter Hafsa was the last of themall and if there was any deficiency in any of them it was in Hafsa sportion
- When he was about to be washed they wished to take offhis shirt but they heard a voice saying Don t take off his shirt sothey did not take off his shirt and he was washed with it on mayAllah bless him and grant him peace
- Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said from Muhammadibn Ibrahim ibn al Harith at Taymi that A isha umm al muminin said I was sleeping by the side of the Messenger of Allah mayAllah blesshim and grant him peace and I missed him in the night so I felt forhim with my hand and I put my hand on his feet and he was in sajdasaying I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath and in Yourpardon from Your punishment and in You from You
