SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1709		Narrated AlAswad: Aisha bought Barira in order to manumit her; but her masters stipulated that her Wala after her death would be for them. Aisha said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have bought Barira in order to manumit her; but her masters stipulated that her Wala will be for them. The Prophet ﷺ said; Manumit her as the Wala is for the one who manumits the slave ; or said; The one who pays her price. Then Aisha bought and manumitted her. After that; Barira was given the choice by the Prophet to stay with her husband or leave him. She said; If he gave me so much and so much money I would not stay with him. AlAswad added: Her husband was a free man. The sub-narrator added: The series of the narrators of AlAswad statement is incomplete. Barira went to her masters and told them about that offer. They said that they would not agree to it unless her Wala would be for them. Allah Messenger ﷺ then got up and said; What about those people who stipulate conditions that are not present in Allah Laws? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5441		Narrated Urwa: Aisha said; Barira came to me and said; I have agreed with my masters to pay them nine Uqiyas of gold in installments one Uqiya per year; please help me. I said; I am ready to pay the whole amount now provided your masters agree that your Wala will be for me. So; Barira went to her masters and told them about that offer but they refused to accept it. She returned; and at that time; Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting present. Barira said; I told them of the offer but they did not accept it and insisted on having the Wala. The Prophet ﷺ heard that. Aisha narrated the whole story to the Prophet. He said to her; Buy her and stipulate that her Wala would be yours as the Wala is for the manumitter. Aisha did so. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up in front of the people; and after glorifying Allah he said; Amma Badu i.e. then after ! What about the people who impose conditions which are not in Allah Book Laws ? Any condition that is not in Allah Book Laws is invalid even if they were one hundred conditions; for Allah decisions are the right ones and His conditions are the strong ones firmer and the Wala will be for the manumitter. SahihMuslim-017-001-21172		Aisha Allah be pjeased with her reported that Barira came to her in order to seek her help in securing freedom; but she had so far paid nothing out of that sum stipulated in the contract. Aisba said to her. Go to your family who owns you ; and if they like that I should pay the amount of the contract on your behalf for purchasing your freedom ; then I shall have the right in your inheritance. If they accepted it I am prepared to make this payment. Barira made a mention of that to the members of her family; but they refused and said: If she Hadrat Aisha wants to do good to You for the sake of Allah; she may do it; but the right of inheritance will be ours. She Hadrat Aisha made a mention of that to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and he said to her: Buy her; and emancipate her; for the right of inheritance vests with one who emancipates the slave. Allah Messenger; ﷺ then stood up and said: What has happened to the people that they lay down conditions which are not found in the Book of Allah? And he who laid down a condition not found in the Book of Allah; that is not valid. even if it is laid down hundred times. The condition laid down by Allah is the most weighty and the most valid. SahihMuslim-017-001-21174		Aisha Allah be pleased with her reported: Barira came to me and said: My family owners have made contract with me for granting freedom for nine uqiyas of silver payable in nine years; one uqiya every year. Help me in making this payment. I said to her: If your family so desires; I am prepared to make them the full payment in one instalment; and thus secure freedom for you; but the right of inheritance will vest in me; if I do so. She Barira made a mention of that to her family; but they refused except on the condition that the right of inheritance would vest in them. She came to me and made mention of if She Aisha said: I scolded her. She Barira said: By Allah; it is not possible they will never agree to it. And as she was saying it; Allah messenger ﷺ heard; and he asked me; I informed him and he said: Buy her and emancipate her; and let the right of inherit- ance vest in them; for they cannot claim it rightfully since the right of inherritance vests with one who emancipates the slave; therefore; these people have no right to lay such false claims. And I did so. She Aisha said: Then Allah Messenger ﷺ delivered a sermon in the evening. He extolled Allah and praised Him with what He deserves; and then said afterwards;: What has happened to the people that they lay down conditions which are not found in the Book of Allah? And the condition which is not found in the Book of Allah is invalid; even if its number is one hundred. The Book of Allah is more true than any other deed and the condition laid down by Allah is more binding than any other condition. What has happened to the people among you that someone among you says: Emancipate so and so; but the right of inheritance vests in me? Verily; the right of inheritance vests in one who emancipates. SahihMuslim-017-001-21177		Aisha Allah be pleased with her reported that she had bought Barira from the people of Ansar; but they laid down the condition that the right of inheritance would vest in them ; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: The right of inheritance vests with one who shows favour who emancipates and Allah Messenger may peacebe upon him gave her the choice either to retain her matrimonial alliance or break it. Her husband was a slave. She Barira also gave Aisha some meat as gift. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: I wish you could prepare cook for us out of this meat. And she was given option to retain her matrimonial alliance or to break it. Abdulrahman said: Her husband was a free man. Shuba said: I then asked him one of the narrators about Barira husband whether he had been a free mart or a slave ; whereupon he said: I do not know. MuwataMalik-017-001-34829		Malik related to me from Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father that Aisha; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Barira came to me and said; I have written myself as mukatab for my people for nine uqiyas; one uqiya per year; so help me. Aisha said; If your people agree that I pay it all to them for you; and that if I pay it; your wala is mine; then I will do it. Barira went to her masters and told them that and they didnt agree. She came back from her masters while the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was sitting. She said to Aisha; I offered that to them and they refused me unless they had the wala. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; heard that and asked her about it Aisha told him and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Take her and stipulate that the wala is yours; for the wala is for the one who sets free. So Aisha did that and then the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stood up in front of the people; and praised Allah and gave thanks to Him. Then he said; What is wrong with the people who make conditions which are not in the Book of Allah? Any condition which is not in the Book of Allah is invalid even if it is a hundred conditions. The decree of Allah is truer and the conditions of Allah are firmer; and the wala only belongs to the one who sets free. MuwataMalik-017-001-34831		Malik related to me from Yahya Ibn Said from Amra bint Abdulrahman that Barira came asking the help of Aisha; umm Almuminin. Aisha said; If your masters agree that I pay them your price in one lump sum and set you free I will do it. Barira mentioned that to her masters and they said; No; not unless your wala is ours. Yahya Ibn Said added that Amra bint Abdulrahman claimed that Aisha mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace said; Buy her and set her free. MuwataMalik-017-001-35212		Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman from AlQasim Ibn Muhammad that Aisha umm Almuminin; said; There were three sunnas established in connection with Barira: firstly was that when she was set free she was given her choice about her husband; secondly; the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said about her; The right of inheritance belongs to the person who has set a person free; thirdly; the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; came in and there was a pot with meat on the boil. Bread and condiments were brought to him from the stock of the house. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Didnt I see a pot with meat in it? They said; Yes; Messenger of Allah. That is meat which was given as sadaqa for Barira; and you do not eat sadaqa. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It is sadaqa for her; and it is a gift for us. MuwataMalik-017-001-35666		Malik related to me from AIqama Ibn Abi Alqama that his mother said that she had heard Aisha; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; rose one night and put on his clothes and then went out. I ordered my slave-girl; Barira; to follow him; and she followed him until he got to AlBaqi. He stood near it as long as Allah willed and then he left. Barira arrived back before him and told me and I did not say anything to him until morning; and then I mentioned it to him and he explained; I was sent out to the people of AlBaqi to pray for them.
