Ubai Bin Kaab AlAnsari passed by them and Ibn Abbas called him saying; My friend Hur and I have differed about Moses Companion whom Moses asked the way to meet. Did you hear Allah Messenger ﷺ mentioning anything about him? Ubai said; Yes; I heard Allah Apostle saying; While Moses was sitting in the company of some Israelites a man came to him and asked; Do you know Someone who is more learned than you Moses ? Moses said; No. So Allah sent the Divine inspiration to Moses:- Yes; Our Slave Khadir is more learned than you Moses asked Allah how to meet him Khadir So Allah made the fish as a sign for him and it was said to him; When you lose the fish; go back to the place where you lose it and you will meet him. So Moses went on looking for the sign of the fish in the sea. The boy servant of Moses who was accompanying him said to him; Do you remember what happened when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget to tell you about the fish. None but Satan made me forget to tell you about it 18.63 Moses said: That is what we have been seeking. Umar said; The Prophet ﷺ is seriously ill; and you have the Quran; so Allah Book is sufficient for us. The people in the house differed and disputed. Some of them said; Come near so that Allah Messenger ﷺ may write for you a writing after which you will not go astray; while some of them said what Umar said. When they made much noise and differed greatly before the Prophet; he said to them; Go away and leave me. Ibn Abbas used to say; It was a great disaster that their difference and noise prevented Allah Messenger ﷺ from writing that writing for them. | The Chapter on House And Tawaf in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on It is disliked to differ in Sahih AlBukhari

Umar said; Call for me the early emigrants. So Umar called them; consulted them and informed them that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Those people differed in their opinions. Some of them said; We have come out for a purpose and we do not think that it is proper to give it up; while others said to Umar ; You have along with you. other people and the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ so do not advise that we take them to this epidemic. Umar said to them; Leave me now. Then he said; Call the Ansar for me. I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them; Leave me now; and added; Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca. I called them and they gave a unanimous opinion saying; We advise that you should return with the people and do not take them to that place of epidemic. Umar said; Would that someone else had said such a thing; O Abu Ubaida! Yes; we are running from what Allah had ordained to what Allah has ordained. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6456 | Narrated Ikrima Bin Khalid: Ibn Umar said; I went to Hafsa while water was dribbling from her twined braids. I said; The condition of the people is as you see; and no authority has been given to me. Hafsa said; to me ; Go to them; and as they i.e. the people are waiting for you; and I am afraid your absence from them will produce division amongst them. So Hafsa did not leave Ibn Umar till we went to them. When the people differed. Muawiya addressed the people saying; If anybody wants to say anything in this matter of the Caliphate; he should show up and not conceal himself; for we are more rightful to be a Caliph than he and his father. On that; Habib Bin Masalama said to Ibn Umar ; Why dont you reply to him i.e. Muawiya ? Abdullah Bin Umar said; I untied my garment that was going round my back and legs while I was sitting and was about to say; He who fought against you and against your father for the sake of Islam; is more rightful to be a Caliph; but I was afraid that my statement might produce differences amongst the people and cause bloodshed; and my statement might be interpreted not as I intended. So I kept quiet remembering what Allah has prepared in the Gardens of Paradise for those who are patient and prefer the Hereafter to this worldly life. Habib said; You did what kept you safe and secure i.e. you were wise in doing so. | The Chapter on Life And Death And Dyeing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Ghazwa of AlKhandaq or AlAhzab Battle in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6757 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: Thursday! And how great that Thursday was! The ailment of Allah Messenger ﷺ became worse on Thursday and he said; fetch me something so that I may write to you something after which you will never go astray. The people present there differed in this matter; and it was not right to differ before a prophet. Some said; What is wrong with him ? Do you think he is delirious seriously ill ? Ask him to understand his state. So they went to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him again. The Prophet ﷺ said; Leave me; for my present state is better than what you call me for. Then he ordered them to do three things. He said; Turn the pagans out of the Arabian Peninsula; respect and give gifts to the foreign delegations as you have seen me dealing with them. Saeed Bin Jubair; the sub-narrator said that Ibn Abbas kept quiet as rewards the third order; or he said; I forgot it. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6758 | Narrated Ubaidullah Bin Abdullah: Ibn Abbas said; When Allah Messenger ﷺ was on his deathbed and there were some men in the house; he said; Come near; I will write for you something after which you will not go astray. Some of them i.e. his companions said; Allah Messenger ﷺ is seriously ill and you have the Holy Quran. Allah Book is sufficient for us. So the people in the house differed and started disputing. Some of them said; Give him writing material so that he may write for you something after which you will not go astray. while the others said the other way round. So when their talk and differences increased; Allah Apostle said; Get up. Ibn Abbas used to say; No doubt; it was very unfortunate a great disaster that Allah Messenger ﷺ was prevented from writing for them that writing because of their differences and noise. | The Chapter on Mother And Ansar in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The sickness of the Prophet and his death in Sahih AlBukhari |

SahihMuslim-017-001-20310 | Abdullah Bin Abbas reported: Umar Bin AlKhattab set out for Syria. As he came at Sargh a town by the side of Hijaz on the way to Syria ; there met him the commander of the forces; Abu Ubaida Bin Jandb; and his companions. They informed him that a scourge had broken out in Syria. Ibn Abbas further reported that Umar said: Call to me tile earliest emigrants. So I called them. He Hadrat Umar sought their advice; and they told him that the scourge had broker; out in Syria. There was a difference of opinion whether they should proceed further or go back to their homes in such a situation. Some of them said: You Umar have set forth for a task; and; therefore; we would not advise you to go back; whereas some of them said: You have along with you the remnants of the sacred galaxy of men and the blessed Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; so we would not advise you to go forth towards this calamity with such eminent persons and thus expose them deliberately to a danger. He Hadrat Umar said: You can now go away. He said: Call to me the Ansar. So I called them to him; and he consulted them; and they trod the same path as was trodden by the Muhajirin; and they differed in their opinions as they had differed. He said: Now; you can go. He again said: Call to me the old persons of the Quraish who had migrated before the Victory that is the Victory of Mecca ; so I called them and Hadrat Umar consulted them and not even two persons differed from the opinion held by the earlier delegates. They said: Our opinion is that you better go back along with the people and do not make them go to this scourge; So Umar made announcement to the people: In the morning I would be on the back of my side. So they set forth in the morning ; whereupon Abu Ubaida Bin Jarrah said: Are you going to run away from the Divine Decree? Thereupon Umar said: Had it been someone else to say this besides you! Umar in fact did not approve of his opposing this decision and he said: Yes; we are running from the Divine Decree to the Divine Decree. You should think if there had been camels for you and you happened to get down in a valley having two sides; one of them covered with verdure and the other being barren; would you not be doing according to the Divine Decree if you graze them in verdure? And in case you graze them in the barren land even then you would be grazing them according to the Divine Decree. There happened to come Abdulrahman Bin Auf and he had been absent in connection with some of his needs. He said: I have with me a knowledge of it; that I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: If you hear of its presence the presence of plague in a land; dont enter it; but if it spreads in the land where you are; dont fly from it. Thereupon Umar Bin AlKhattab praised Allah and then went back? | The Chapter on Revelation And Quraish in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 32 in Sahih Muslim |

MuwataMalik-017-001-34242 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa Ibn AlZubair that Abdulrahman Ibn Abd AlQari said that he had heard Umar Ibn AlKhattab say; I heard Hisham Ibn Hakim Ibn Hizam reciting Surat AlFurqan Surat 25 differently from me; and it was the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; who had recited it to me. I was about to rush up to him but I granted him a respite until he had finished his prayer. Then I grabbed him by his cloak and took him to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah; I heard this man reciting Surat AlFurqan differently from the way you recited it to me. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Let him go. Then he said; Recite; Hisham; and Hisham recited as I had heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It was sent down like that. Then he said to me; Recite and I recited the sura; and he said; It was sent down like that. This Quran was sent down in seven different ways; so recite from it whatever is easy for you. | The Chapter on Recitation Of Surat Albaqara in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Congregation in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35072 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Yazid Ibn Abdullah Ibn Qusayt saw Said Ibn AlMusayab sell gold counterpoising for gold. He poured his gold into one pan of the scales; and the man with whom he was counterpoising put his gold in the other pan of the scale and when the tongue of the scales was balanced; they took and gave. Malik said; According to the way things are done among us there is no harm in selling gold for gold; and silver for silver by counterpoising weight; even if 11 dinars are taken for 10 dinars hand to hand; when the weight of gold is equal; coin for coin; even if the number is different. Dirhams in such a situation are treated the same way as dinars. Malik said; If; when counterpoising gold for gold or silver for silver; there is a difference of weight; one party should not give the other the value of the difference in silver or something else. Such a transaction is ugly and a means to usury because if one of the parties were permitted to take the difference for a separate price; it could be as if he had bought it separately; so he would be permitted. Then it would be possible for him to ask for many times the value of the difference in order to permit the completion of the transaction between the two parties. Malik said; If he had really been sold the difference without anything else with it; he would not have taken it for a tenth of the price for which he took it in order to put a legal front on the transaction. This leads to allowing what is forbidden. The matter is forbidden. Malik said that it was not good when counterpoising to give good old gold coins and put along with them unminted gold in exchange for worn kufic gold; which was unpopular and to then treat the exchange as like for like. Malik said; The commentary on why that is disapproved is that the owner of the good gold uses the excellence of his old gold coins as an excuse to throw in the unminted gold with it. Had it not been for the superiority of his good gold over the gold of the other party; the other party would not have counterpoised the unminted gold for his kufic gold; and the deal would have been refused. It is like a man wanting to buy three sa of ajwa dried dates for two sa and a mudd of kabis dates; and on being told that it was not good; then offering two sa of kabis and a sa of poor dates desiring to make the sale possible. That is not good because the owner of the ajwa should not give him a sa of ajwa for a sa of poor dates. He would only give him that because of the excellence of kabis dates. Or it is like a man asking some one to sell him three sa of white wheat for two and a half sa of Syrian wheat; and being told that it was not good except like for like; and so offering two sa of wheat and one sa of barley intending to make the sale possible between them. That is not good because no one would have given a sa of barley for a sa of white wheat had that sa been by itself. It was only given because of the excellence of Syrian wheat over the white wheat. This is not good. It is the same as the case of the unminted gold. Malik said; Where gold; silver and food; things which should only be sold like for like; are concerned; something disliked and of poor quality should not be put with something good and desirable in order to make the sale possible and to make a bad situation halal. When something of desirable quality is put with something of poor quality and it is only included so that its excellence in quality is noticed; something is being sold which if it had been sold on its own; would not have been accepted and to which the buyer would not have paid any attention. It is only accepted by the buyer because of the superiority of what comes with it over his own goods. Transactions involving gold; silver; or food; must not have anything of this description enter into them. If the owner of the poor quality goods wants to sell them; he sells them on their own; and does not put anything with them. There is no harm if it is like that. | The Chapter on Precious Metals And Buying And Selling Gold in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Drinks in Muwata Malik |
