SahihMuslim-017-001-19045 | Masruq reported that there came to Abdullah a person and said: I have left behind in the Masjid a man who explains the Quran according to his personal discretion and he explained this verse: So wait for the day when the Heaven brings a clear smoke. He says that a smoke would come to the people on the Day of Resurrection anl it will withhold breath and they would be inflicted with cold. Abdullah said: He who has knowledge should say something and he who has no knowledge should simply say: Allah is best aware. This reflects the understanding of a person that he should say about that which he does not know that it is Allah who knows best. The fact is that when the Quraish disobeyed Allah Apostle ﷺ he supplicated Allah that they should be afflicted with famine and starvation as was done in case of Yousif. And they were so much hard pressed that a person would ace the sky and he would see between him and the sky something like smoke and they were so much hard pressed that they began to cat the bones; and a person came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger. seek forgiveness for the tribe of Mudar for its people have been undone. The Messenger ﷺ said: For Mudar? You are overbold; but he supplicated Allah for them. It was upon this that this verse was revealed: We shall remove the chastisement a little; but they will surely return to evil xliv. 15. lie the narrator said: There was a downpoor of rain upon them. When there was some relief for them they returned to the same position as they had been before; and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; revealed this verse: So wait for the day when the heaven brings a clear smoke enveloping people. This is a grievous torment on the day when We seize them with the most violent seizing; surely; We shall exact retribution. And this seizing implied Battle of Badr. | The Chapter on Rain And Clouds And Smoke Associated With Punishments in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 7 in Sahih Muslim |

MuwataMalik-017-001-34856 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya Ibn Said heard Sulayman Ibn Yasar mention that a face wound in which the bone was bared was like a head wound in which the bone was bared; unless the face was scarred by the wound. Then the blood-money is increased by one half of the blood-money of the head wound in which the skin was bared so that seventy five dinars are payable for it. Malik said; What is done in our community is that the head wound with splinters has fifteen camels. He explained; The head wound with splinters is that from which pieces of bone fly off and which does not reach the brain. It can be in the head or the face. Malik said; The generally agreed on way of doing things in our community; is that there is no retaliation for a wound to the brain or a belly wound; and Ibn Shihab has said; There is no retaliation for a wound to the brain. Malik explained; The wound to the brain is what pierces the bones to the brain. This type of wound only occurs in the head. It is that which reaches the brain when the bones are pierced. Malik said; What is done in our community is that there is no blood-money paid on any head wound less than one which lays bare the skull. Blood-money is payable only for the head wound that bares the bone and what is worse than that. That is because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; stopped at the head wound which bared the bone in his letter to Amr Ibn Hazm. He made it five camels. The imams; past and present; have not made any blood- money payable for injuries less than the head wound which bares the bone. | The Chapter on Wounds In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, The Book of General Subjects in Muwata Malik | |
MuwataMalik-017-001-35298 | Zaynab said; I heard my mother; Umm Salamah; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah! My daughter husband died; and her eyes are troubling her; can she put kohl on them? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; No two or three times. Then he said; It is only four months and ten days. In the Aljahiliya; none of you threw away the piece of dung until a year had passed. Humayd Ibn Nafi said; I asked Zaynab to explain what throwing away the piece of dung at the end of a year meant. Zaynab said; In the Aljahiliya when a woman husband died; she went into a small tent and dressed in the worst of clothes. She did not touch perfume or anything until a year had passed. Then she was brought an animal - a donkey; a sheep; or a bird; and she would break her idda with it; by rubbing her body against it taftaddu. Rarely did she break her idda with anything by rubbing herself against it but that it died. Then she would come out and would be given a piece of dung. She would throw it away and then return to whatever she wished of perfumes or whatever. Malik explained; Taftaddu means to wipe her skin with it in the same way as with a healing charm. | The Chapter on Marriage And Entitlements in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Sacrificial Animals in Muwata Malik |
