SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1436Narrated Aisha: the mother of believers Allah Messenger ﷺ during his fatal ailment said; Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer. I said; If Abu Bakr stood at your place in prayers; the people will not be able to hear him because of his weeping; so order Umar to lead the people in prayer. He again said; Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer Then I said to Hafsa; Will you say to the Prophet ; If Abu Bakr stood at your place; the people will not be able to hear him be cause of his weeping; so order Umar to lead the people in prayer? Hafsa did so; whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said; You are like the companions of Joseph See Quran; 12:30-32. Order Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1650Narrated Ibn Umar: I saw in a dream a piece of silken cloth in my hand; and in whatever direction in Paradise I waved it; it flew; carrying me there. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1663Narrated Ibn Umar: I was a young unmarried man during the lifetime of the Prophet. I used to sleep in the Masjid. Anyone who had a dream; would narrate it to the Prophet. I said; O Allah! If there is any good for me with You; then show me a dream so that Allah Messenger ﷺ may interpret it for me. So I slept and saw in a dream two angels came to me and took me along with them; and they met another angel who said to me; Dont be afraid; you are a good man. They took me towards the Fire; and behold; it was built inside like a well; and therein I saw people some of whom I recognized; and then the angels took me to the right side. In the morning; I mentioned that dream to Hafsa. Hafsa told me that she had mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ and he said; Abdullah is a righteous man if he only prays more at night. AlZuhri said; After that; Abdullah used to pray more at night. The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Fasting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To be taken to the right side in a dream in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1993Narrated Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to like sweets and also used to like honey; and whenever he finished the Asr prayer; he used to visit his wives and stay with them. Once he visited Hafsa and remained with her longer than the period he used to stay; so I enquired about it. It was said to me; A woman from her tribe gave her a leather skin containing honey as a present; and she gave some of it to Allah Messenger ﷺ to drink. I said; By Allah; we will play a trick on him. So I mentioned the story to Sauda the wife of the Prophet and said to her; When he enters upon you; he will come near to you whereupon you should say to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Have you eaten Maghafir? He will say; No. Then you say to him; What is this bad smell? And it would be very hard on Allah Messenger ﷺ that a bad smell should be found on his body. He will say; Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. Then you should say to him; Its bees must have sucked from the AlUrfut a foul smelling flower. I too; will tell him the same. And you; O Saifya; say the same. So when the Prophet ﷺ entered upon Sauda the following happened. Sauda said; By Him except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; I was about to say to him what you had told me to say while he was still at the gate because of fear from you. But when Allah Apostle came near to me; I said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Have you eaten Maghafir? He replied; No. I said; What about this smell? He said; Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. I said; Its bees must have sucked AlUrfut. When he entered upon me; I told him the same as that; and when he entered upon Safiya; she too told him the same. So when he visited Hafsa again; she said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall I give you a drink of it honey ? He said; I have no desire for it. Sauda said; Subhan Allah! We have deprived him of it honey. I said to her; Be quiet! The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The trick by a woman with her husband in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2096Narrated Aisha: The Prophet ﷺ used to stay for a period in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh one of the wives of the Prophet and he used to drink honey in her house. Hafsa and I decided that when the Prophet ﷺ entered upon either of us; she would say; I smell in you the bad smell of Maghafir a bad smelling raisin. Have you eaten Maghafir? When he entered upon one of us; she said that to him. He replied to her ; No; but I have drunk honey in the house of Zainab bint Jahsh; and I will never drink it again. Then the following verse was revealed: O Prophet ! Why do you ban for you that which Allah has made lawful for you?... up to If you two wives of the Prophet ﷺ turn in repentance to Allah. 66.1-4 The two were Aisha and Hafsa And also the Statement of Allah: And Remember when the Prophet ﷺ disclosed a matter in confidence to one of his wives! 66.3 i.e.; his saying; But I have drunk honey. Hisham said: It also meant his saying; I will not drink anymore; and I have taken an oath; so do not inform anybody of that. The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If someone makes some food unlawful for himself in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2898Narrated Ibn Abbas: For one year I wanted to ask Umar about the two women who helped each other against the Prophet ﷺ but I was afraid of him. One day he dismounted his riding animal and went among the trees of Arak to answer the call of nature; and when he returned; I asked him and he said; They were Aisha and Hafsa. Then he added; We never used to give significance to ladies in the days of the Pre-lslamic period of ignorance; but when Islam came and Allah mentioned their rights; we used to give them their rights but did not allow them to interfere in our affairs. Once there was some dispute between me and my wife and she answered me back in a loud voice. I said to her; Strange! You can retort in this way? She said; Yes. Do you say this to me while your daughter troubles Allah Messenger ﷺ ? So I went to Hafsa and said to her; I warn you not to disobey Allah and His Apostle. I first went to Hafsa and then to Umm Salamah and told her the same. She said to me; O Umar! It surprises me that you interfere in our affairs so much that you would poke your nose even into the affairs of Allah Messenger ﷺ and his wives. So she rejected my advice. There was an Ansari man; whenever he was absent from Allah Messenger ﷺ and I was present there; I used to convey to him what had happened on that day ; and when I was absent and he was present there; he used to convey to me what had happened as regards news from Allah Messenger ﷺ. During that time all the rulers of the nearby lands had surrendered to Allah Messenger ﷺ except the king of Ghassan in Sham; and we were afraid that he might attack us. All of a sudden the Ansari came and said; A great event has happened! I asked him; What is it? Has the Ghassani king come? He said; Greater than that! Allah Messenger ﷺ has divorced his wives! I went to them and found all of them weeping in their dwellings; and the Prophet ﷺ had ascended to an upper room of his. At the door of the room there was a slave to whom I went and said; Ask the permission for me to enter. He admitted me and I entered to see the Prophet ﷺ lying on a mat that had left its imprint on his side. Under his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fires. Behold! There were some hides hanging there and some grass for tanning. Then I mentioned what I had said to Hafsa and Umm Salamah and what reply Umm Salamah had given me. Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled and stayed there for twenty nine days and then came down. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3135Narrated Ubaid Bin Umar: I heard Aisha saying; The Prophet ﷺ used to stay for a long while with Zanab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her house. So Hafsa and I decided that if the Prophet ﷺ came to anyone of us; she should say him; I detect the smell of Maghafir a nasty smelling gum in you. Have you eaten Maghafir? So the Prophet ﷺ visited one of them and she said to him similarly. The Prophet ﷺ said; Never mind; I have taken some honey at the house of Zainab bint Jahsh; but I shall never drink of it anymore. So there was revealed: O Prophet ! Why do you ban for you that which Allah has made lawful for you... If you two wives of Prophet turn in repentance to Allah; 66.1-4 addressing Aisha and Hafsa. When the Prophet ﷺ disclosed a matter in confidence to some of his wives. 66.3 namely his saying: But I have taken some honey. The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on O Prophet Why do you forbid that which Allah has allowed to you in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3136Narrated Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ was fond of honey and sweet edible things and it was his habit that after finishing the Asr prayer he would visit his wives and stay with one of them at that time. Once he went to Hafsa; the daughter of Umar and stayed with her more than usual. I got jealous and asked the reason for that. I was told that a lady of her folk had given her a skin filled with honey as a present; and that she made a syrup from it and gave it to the Prophet ﷺ to drink and that was the reason for the delay. I said; By Allah we will play a trick on him to prevent him from doing so. So I said to Sada bint Zama The Prophet ﷺ will approach you; and when he comes near you; say: Have you taken Maghafir a bad-smelling gum ? He will say; No. Then say to him: Then what is this bad smell which i smell from you? He will say to you; Hafsa made me drink honey syrup. Then say: Perhaps the bees of that honey had sucked the juice of the tree of AlUrfut. I shall also say the same. O you; Safiya; say the same. Later Sada said; By Allah; as soon as he the Prophet ﷺ stood at the door; I was about to say to him what you had ordered me to say because I was afraid of you. So when the Prophet ﷺ came near Sada; she said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Have you taken Maghafir? He said; No. She said. Then what is this bad smell which I detect on you? He said; Hafsa made me drink honey syrup. She said; Perhaps its bees had sucked the juice of AlUrfut tree. When he came to me; I also said the same; and when he went to Safiya; she also said the same. And when the Prophet ﷺ again went to Hafsa; she said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall I give you more of that drink? He said; I am not in need of it. Sada said; By Allah; we deprived him of it. I said to her; Keep quiet. The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on O Prophet Why do you forbid that which Allah has allowed to you in Sahih AlBukhari

Hudhaifa was afraid of their the people of Sham and Iraq differences in the recitation of the Quran; so he said to Uthman; O chief of the Believers! Save this nation before they differ about the Book Quran as Jews and the Christians did before. So Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying; Send us the manuscripts of the Quran so that we may compile the Quranic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you. Hafsa sent it to Uthman. Uthman then ordered Zaid Bin Thabit; Abdullah Bin AlZubair; Saeed Bin AlAs and Abdulrahman Bin Harith Bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies. Uthman said to the three Quraishi men; In case you disagree with Zaid Bin Thabit on any point in the Quran; then write it in the dialect of Quraish; the Quran was revealed in their tongue. They did so; and when they had written many copies; Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa. Aisha added: I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This man is asking permission to enter your house. The Prophet ﷺ said; I think he is so-and-so; naming the foster-uncle of Hafsa. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3512Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: Umar Bin AlKhattab said; When Hafsa bint Umar became a widow after the death of her husband Khunais Bin Hudhafa AlSahmi who had been one of the companions of the Prophet; and he died at Medina. I went to Uthman Bin Affan and presented Hafsa for marriage to him. He said; I will think it over. I waited for a few days; then he met me and said; It seems that it is not possible for me to marry at present. Umar further said; I met Abu Bakr AlSiddiq and said to him; If you wish; I will marry my daughter Hafsa to you. Abu Bakr kept quiet and did not say anything to me in reply. I became more angry with him than with Uthman. I waited for a few days and then Allah Messenger ﷺ asked for her hand; and I gave her in marriage to him. Afterwards I met Abu Bakr who said; Perhaps you became angry with me when you presented Hafsa to me and I did not give you a reply? I said; Yes. Abu Bakr said; Nothing stopped me to respond to your offer except that I knew that Allah Apostle had mentioned her; and I never wanted to let out the secret of Allah Messenger ﷺ. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3579Narrated Ibn Abbas: I had been eager to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab about the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet regarding whom Allah said If you two wives of the Prophet ﷺ namely Aisha and Hafsa turn in repentance to Allah; your hearts are indeed so inclined to oppose what the Prophet ﷺ likes. 66.4 till Umar performed the Hajj and I too; performed the Hajj along with him. On the way Umar went Aasi de to answer the call of nature; and I also went Aasi de along with him carrying a tumbler full of water; and when Umar had finished answering the call of nature; I poured water over his hands and he performed the ablution. Then I said to him; O chief of the Believers! Who were the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet ﷺ regarding whom Allah said: If you two wives of the Prophet turn in repentance to Allah your hearts are indeed so inclined to oppose what the Prophet ﷺ likes ? 66.4 He said; I am astonished at your question; O Ibn Abbas. They were Aisha and Hafsa. Then Umar went on narrating the Hadith and said; I and an Ansari neighbor of mine from Bani Umaiya Bin Zaid who used to live in Awali AlMedina; used to visit the Prophet ﷺ in turn. He used to go one day and I another day. When I went; I would bring him the news of what had happened that day regarding the Divine Inspiration and other things; and when he went; he used to do the same for me. We; the people of Quraish used to have the upper hand over our wives; but when we came to the Ansar; we found that their women had the upper hand over their men; so our women also started learning the ways of the Ansari women. I shouted at my wife and she retorted against me and I disliked that she should answer me back. She said to me; Why are you so surprised at my answering you back? By Allah; the wives of the Prophet answer him back and some of them may leave does not speak to him throughout the day till the night. The talk scared me and I said to her; Whoever has done so will be ruined! Then I proceeded after dressing myself; and entered upon Hafsa and said to her; Does anyone of you keep the Prophet ﷺ angry till night? She said; Yes. I said; You are a ruined losing person! Dont you fear that Allah may get angry for the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ and thus you will be ruined? So do not ask more from the Prophet ﷺ and do not answer him back and do not give up talking to him. Ask me whatever you need and do not be tempted to imitate your neighbor i.e.; Aisha in her manners for she is more charming than you and more beloved to the Prophet ﷺ. Umar added; At that time a talk was circulating among us that the tribe of Ghassan were preparing their horses to invade us. My Ansari companion; on the day of his turn; went to the town and returned to us at night and knocked at my door violently and asked if I was there. I became horrified and came out to him. He said; Today a great thing has happened. I asked; What is it? Have the people of Ghassan come? He said; No; but What has happened is greater and more horrifying than that: Allah Messenger ﷺ ; has divorced his wives. Umar added; The Prophet ﷺ kept away from his wives and I said Hafsa is a ruined loser. I had already thought that most probably this divorce would happen in the near future. So I dressed myself and offered the morning prayer with the Prophet ﷺ and then the Prophet; entered an upper room and stayed there in seclusion. I entered upon Hafsa and saw her weeping. I asked; What makes you weep? Did I not warn you about that? Did the Prophet ﷺ divorce you all? She said; I do not know. There he is retired alone in the upper room. I came out and sat near the pulpit and saw a group of people sitting around it and some of them were weeping. I sat with them for a while but could not endure the situation; so I went to the upper room where the Prophet; was and said to a black slave of his; Will you get the permission of the Prophet ﷺ for Umar to enter ? The slave went in; talked to the Prophet ﷺ about it and then returned saying; I have spoken to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned you but he kept quiet. Then I returned and sat with the group of people sitting near the pulpit. but I could not bear the situation and once again I said to the slave; Will you get the permission for Umar? He went in and returned saying; I mentioned you to him but he kept quiet. So I returned again and sat with the group of people sitting near the pulpit; but I could not bear the situation; and so I went to the slave and said; Will you get the permission for Umar? He went in and returned to me saying; I mentioned you to him but he kept quiet. When I was leaving; behold! The slave called me; saying; The Prophet ﷺ has given you permission. Then I entered upon Allah Messenger ﷺ and saw him Lying on a bed made of stalks of date palm leaves and there was no bedding between it and him. The stalks left marks on his side and he was leaning on a leather pillow stuffed with date-palm fires. I greeted him and while still standing I said; O Allah Apostle! Have you divorced your wives? He looked at me and said; No. I said; Allah Akbar! And then; while still standing; I said chatting; Will you heed what I say; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? We; the people of Quraish used to have power over our women; but when we arrived at Medina we found that the men here were overpowered by their women. The Prophet ﷺ smiled and then I said to him; Will you heed what I say; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? I entered upon Hafsa and said to her; Do not be tempted to imitate your companion Aisha ; for she is more charming than you and more beloved to the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ smiled for a second time. When I saw him smiling; I sat down. Then I looked around his house; and by Allah; I could not see anything of importance in his house except three hides; so I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Invoke Allah to make your followers rich; for the Persians and the Romans have been made prosperous and they have been given the pleasures of the world ; although they do not worship Allah. Thereupon the Prophet ﷺ sat up as he was reclining. and said; Are you of such an opinion; O the son of AlKhattab? These are the people who have received the rewards for their good deeds in this world. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Ask Allah to forgive me. Then the Prophet ﷺ kept away from his wives for twenty-nine days because of the story which Hafsa had disclosed to Aisha. The Prophet ﷺ had said; I will not enter upon them my wives for one month; because of his anger towards them; when Allah had admonished him. So; when twenty nine days had passed; the Prophet ﷺ first entered upon Aisha. Aisha said to him; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! You had sworn that you would not enter upon us for one month; but now only twenty-nine days have passed; for I have been counting them one by one. The Prophet ﷺ said; The present month is of twenty nine days. Aisha added; Then Allah revealed the Verses of the option. 2 And out of all his-wives he asked me first; and I chose him. Then he gave option to his other wives and they said what Aisha had said. 1 The Prophet; had decided to abstain from eating a certain kind of food because of a certain event; so Allah blamed him for doing so. Some of his wives were the cause of him taking that decision; therefore he deserted them for one month. One night Hafsa said to Aisha; Wont you ride my camel tonight and I ride yours; so that you may see me and I see you in new situation ? Aisha said; Yes; I agree. So Aisha rode; and then the Prophet ﷺ came towards Aisha camel on which Hafsa was riding. He greeted Hafsa and then proceeded beside her till they dismounted on the way. She said; The husband of my sister took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet ﷺ and my sister was with her husband in six of them. My sister said that they used to nurse the sick and treat the wounded. Once she asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! If a woman has no veil; is there any harm if she does not come out on Id day ? The Prophet ﷺ said; Her companion should let her share her veil with her; and the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. Hafsa added; When Um-Atiya came; I went to her and asked her; Did you hear anything about so-and-so? Um-Atiya said; Yes; let my father be sacrificed for the Prophet ﷺ. But the menstruating women should keep away from the Mousalla. And all the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5115Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: I had been eager to ask Umar about the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet ﷺ regarding whom Allah said in the Quran saying : If you two wives of the Prophet ﷺ namely Aisha and Hafsa turn in repentance to Allah your hearts are indeed so inclined to oppose what the Prophet ﷺ likes 66.4 ; till performed the Hajj along with Umar and on our way back from Hajj he went Aasi de to answer the call of nature and I also went Aasi de along with him carrying a tumbler of water. When he had answered the call of nature and returned. I poured water on his hands from the tumbler and he performed ablution. I said; O Chief of the believers! Who were the two ladies from among the wives of the Prophet ﷺ to whom Allah said: If you two return in repentance 66.4 ? He said; I am astonished at your question; O Ibn Abbas. They were Aisha and Hafsa. Then Umar went on relating the narration and said. I and an Ansari neighbor of mine from Bani Umaiya Bin Zaid who used to live in Awali AlMedina; used to visit the Prophet ﷺ in turns. He used to go one day; and I another day. When I went I would bring him the news of what had happened that day regarding the instructions and orders and when he went; he used to do the same for me. We; the people of Quraish; used to have authority over women; but when we came to live with the Ansar; we noticed that the Ansari women had the upper hand over their men; so our women started acquiring the habits of the Ansari women. Once I shouted at my wife and she paid me back in my coin and I disliked that she should answer me back. She said; Why do you take it ill that I retort upon you? By Allah; the wives of the Prophet ﷺ retort upon him; and some of them may not speak with him for the whole day till night. What she said scared me and I said to her; Whoever amongst them does so; will be a great loser. Then I dressed myself and went to Hafsa and asked her; Does any of you keep Allah Messenger ﷺ angry all the day long till night? She replied in the affirmative. I said; She is a ruined losing person and will never have success ! Doesnt she fear that Allah may get angry for the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ and thus she will be ruined? Dont ask Allah Messenger ﷺ too many things; and dont retort upon him in any case; and dont desert him. Demand from me whatever you like; and dont be tempted to imitate your neighbor i.e. Aisha in her behavior towards the Prophet ; for she i.e. Aisha is more beautiful than you; and more beloved to Allah Messenger ﷺ. In those days it was rumored that Ghassan; a tribe living in Sham was getting prepared their horses to invade us. My companion went to the Prophet ﷺ on the day of his turn; went and returned to us at night and knocked at my door violently; asking whether I was sleeping. I was scared by the hard knocking and came out to him. He said that a great thing had happened. I asked him: What is it? Have Ghassan come? He replied that it was worse and more serious than that; and added that Allah Apostle had divorced all his wives. I said; Hafsa is a ruined loser! I expected that would happen some day. So I dressed myself and offered the Fajr prayer with the Prophet. Then the Prophet ﷺ entered an upper room and stayed there alone. I went to Hafsa and found her weeping. I asked her; Why are you weeping? Didnt I warn you? Have Allah Messenger ﷺ divorced you all? She replied; I dont know. He is there in the upper room. I then went out and came to the pulpit and found a group of people around it and some of them were weeping. Then I sat with them for some time; but could not endure the situation. So I went to the upper room where the Prophet ﷺ was and requested to a black slave of his: Will you get the permission of Allah Apostle for Umar to enter ? The slave went in; talked to the Prophet ﷺ about it and came out saying; I mentioned you to him but he did not reply. So; I went and sat with the people who were sitting by the pulpit; but I could not bear the situation; so I went to the slave again and said: Will you get he permission for Umar? He went in and brought the same reply as before. When I was leaving; behold; the slave called me saying; Allah Messenger ﷺ has granted you permission. So; I entered upon the Prophet and saw him lying on a mat without wedding on it; and the mat had left its mark on the body of the Prophet; and he was leaning on a leather pillow stuffed with palm fires. I greeted him and while still standing; I said: Have you divorced your wives? He raised his eyes to me and replied in the negative. And then while still standing; I said chatting: Will you heed what I say; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We; the people of Quraish used to have the upper hand over our women wives ; and when we came to the people whose women had the upper hand over them... Umar told the whole story about his wife. On that the Prophet ﷺ smiled. Umar further said; I then said; I went to Hafsa and said to her: Do not be tempted to imitate your companion Aisha for she is more beautiful than you and more beloved to the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ smiled again. When I saw him smiling; I sat down and cast a glance at the room; and by Allah; I couldnt see anything of importance but three hides. I said to Allah Messenger ﷺ Invoke Allah to make your followers prosperous for the Persians and the Byzantines have been made prosperous and given worldly luxuries; though they do not worship Allah? The Prophet ﷺ was leaning then and on hearing my speech he sat straight and said; O Ibn AlKhattab! Do you have any doubt that the Hereafter is better than this world ? These people have been given rewards of their good deeds in this world only. I asked the Prophet ﷺ. Please ask Allah forgiveness for me. The Prophet ﷺ did not go to his wives because of the secret which Hafsa had disclosed to Aisha; and he said that he would not go to his wives for one month as he was angry with them when Allah admonished him for his oath that he would not approach Maria. When twenty-nine days had passed; the Prophet ﷺ went to Aisha first of all. She said to him; You took an oath that you would not come to us for one month; and today only twenty-nine days have passed; as I have been counting them day by day. The Prophet ﷺ said; The month is also of twenty-nine days. That month consisted of twenty-nine days. Aisha said; When the Divine revelation of Choice was revealed; the Prophet ﷺ started with me; saying to me; I am telling you something; but you need not hurry to give the reply till you can consult your parents. Aisha knew that her parents would not advise her to part with the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah had said: O Prophet! Say To your wives; If you desire The life of this world And its glitter;... then come! I will make a provision for you and set you free In a handsome manner. But if you seek Allah And His Apostle; and The Home of the Hereafter; then Verily; Allah has prepared For the good-doers amongst you A great reward. 33.28 Aisha said; Am I to consult my parents about this? I indeed prefer Allah; His Apostle; and the Home of the Hereafter. After that the Prophet ﷺ gave the choice to his other wives and they also gave the same reply as Aisha did.The Chapter on Parents And Hearts in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Looking or not looking upon other houses in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5168Narrated Amra bint Abdulrahman from Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ mentioned that he would practice Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. Aisha asked his permission to perform Itikaf and he permitted her. Hafsa asked Aisha to take his permission for her; and she did so. When Zainab bint Jahsh saw that; she ordered a tent to be pitched for her and it was pitched for her. Allah Messenger ﷺ used to proceed to his tent after the prayer. So; he saw the tents ans asked; What is this? He was told that those were the tents of Aisha; Hafsa; and Zainab. Allah Apostle said; Is it righteousness which they intended by doing so? I am not going to perform Itikaf. So he returned home. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5643Narrated Ayoub : Hafsa said; We used to forbid our young women to go out for the two Id prayers. A woman came and stayed at the palace of Bani Khalaf and she narrated about her sister whose husband took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet ﷺ and her sister was with her husband in six out of these twelve. She the woman sister said; We used to treat the wounded; look after the patients and once I asked the Prophet; Is there any harm for any of us to stay at home if she doesnt have a veil? He said; She should cover herself with the veil of her companion and should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gathering of the Muslims. When Um Atiya came I asked her whether she had heard it from the Prophet. She replied; Yes. May my father be sacrificed for him the Prophet ! Whenever she mentioned the Prophet ﷺ she used to say; May my father be sacrificed for him I have heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; The unmarried young virgins and the mature girl who stay often screened or the young unmarried virgins who often stay screened and the menstruating women should come out and participate in the good deeds as well as the religious gathering of the faithful believers but the menstruating women should keep away from the Mousalla praying place. SahihMuslim-017-001-19112Abdullah Bin Safwan reported that Hafsa told him that she had heard Allah Apostle ﷺ as saying: An army would attack this House in order to fight against the inhabitants of this House and when it would be at the plain ground the ranks in the centre of the army would be sunk and the vanguard would call the rear flanks of the army and they would also be sunk and no flank would be left except some people who would go to inform them their kith and kin. A person who had been listening to this hadith from Abdullah Bin Safwan said: I bear testimony in regard to you that you are not imputing a lie to Hafsa. SahihMuslim-017-001-20707Aisha reported that when Allah Messenger ﷺ set ont on a journey; he used to cast lots amongst his wives. Once this lot came out in my favour and that of Hafsa. They Hafsi; and Aisha both went along with him and Allah Messenger ﷺ used to travel on camel when it was night along with Aisha and talked with her. Hafsa said to Aisha: Would you like to ride upon my camel tonight and allow me to ride upon your camel and you would see what you do not generally see and I would see what I do not see generally? She said: Yes. So Aisha rode upon the camel of Hafsa and Hafsa rode upon the camel of Aisha and Allah Messenger ﷺ came near the camel of Aisha. whereas Hafsa had been riding over that. He greeted her and then rode with her until they came down. She Aisha thus missed the company of the Holy Prophet and when they sat down; Aisha felt jealous. SahihMuslim-017-001-20820Abu Mousa reported: We were in Yemen when we heard of the migration of Allah Messenger ﷺ. We also set out as immigrants to him. And I was accompanied by two brothers of mine; I being the youngest of them; one of them was Abu Burda and the other one was Abu Ruhm; and there were some other persons with them. Some say they were fifty-three or fifty-two persons of my tribe. We embarked upon a boat; and the boat sailed away to the Negus of Abyssinia. There we met Jafar Bin Abu Talib and his companions. Jafar said: Allall Messenger ﷺ has sent us here and has commanded us to stay here and you should also stay with us. So we stayed with him and we came back to Medina and met Allah Messenger ﷺ when Khaibar had been conquered. He the Holy Prophet allocated a share to us and in the ordinary course he did not allocate the share to one who had been absent on the occasion of the conquest of Khaibar but conferred a share upon him only who had been present there with him. He; however; made an exception for the people of the boat; viz. for Jafar and his companions. He allocated a share to them; and some persons from amongst the people said to us; viz. the people of the boat: We have preceded you in migration. Asma bint Umais who had migrated to Abyssinia and had come back along with them along with immigrants visited Hafsa; the wife of Allah Apostle ﷺ. Accordingly ; Umar had been sitting with her Hafsa. As Umar saw Asma; he said: Who is she? She Hafsa said: She is Asma; daughter of Umais. He said: She is an Abyssinian and a sea-woman. Asma said: Yes; it is so. Thereupon Umar said: We preceded you in migration and so we have more right to Allah Messenger ﷺ as compared with you. At this she felt annoyed and said: Umar; you are not stating the fact; by Allah; you had the privilege of being in the company of the Messenger ﷺ who fed the hungry among you and instructed the ignorant amongst you; whereas we had been far from here in the land of Abyssinia amongst the enemies and that was all for Allah and Allah Messenger ﷺ and; by Allah; I would never take food nor take water unless I make a mention to Allah Messenger ﷺ of what you have said. We remained in that country in constant trouble and dread and I shall talk about it to Allah Messenger way ﷺ and ask him about it. By Allah; I shall not tell a lie and deviate from the truth and add anything to that. So; when Allah Apostle ﷺ came; she said: Allah Apostle; Umar says so and so. Upon this Allah Messenger ﷺ said: His right is not more than yours; for him and his companions there is one migration; but for you; i. e. for the people of the boat; there are two migrations. She said: I saw Abu Mousa and the people of the boat coming to me in groups and asking me about this hadith; because there was nothing more pleasing and more significant for them than this. Abu Burda reported that Asma said: I saw Abu Mousa; asking me to repeat this hadith to him again and again. The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Abyssinian in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 41 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-21503Aisha Allah be pleased with her narrated that Allah Apostle ﷺ used to spend time with Zainab daughter of Jahsh and drank honey at her house. She Aisha further said: I and Hafsa agreed that one whom Allah Apostle ﷺ would visit first should say: I notice that you have an odour of the Maghafir gum of mimosa. He the Holy Prophet visited one of them and she said to him like this; whereupon he said: I have taken honey in the house of Zainab bint Jabsh and I will never do it again. It was at this that the following verse was revealed : Why do you hold to be forbidden what Allah has made lawful for you... up to. If you both Aisha and Hafsa turn to Allah up to: And when the Prophet confided an information to one of his wives lxvi. 3. This refers to his saying: But I have taken honey. The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21504Aisha Allah be pleased with her reported Allah Messenger ﷺ liked sweet dish and honey. After saying the afternoon prayer he used to visit his wives going close to them. So he went to Hafsa and stayed with her more than what was his usual stay. I Aisha asked about that. It was said to me: A woman of her family had sent her a small vessel of honey as a gift; and she gave to Allah Messenger ﷺ from that a drink. I said: By Allah; we would also contrive a device for him. I mentioned that to Sauda; and said: When he Allah Apostle would visit you and draw close to you; say to him: Allah Messenger; have you taken maghafir? And he wouldsay to you: No. Then say to him: What is this odour? And Allah Messenger ﷺ felt it very much that unpleasant odour should emit from him. So he would say to you: Hafsa has given me a drink of honey. Then you should say to him: The honey-bees might have sucked Urfut; and I would also say the same to him and. Safiya; you should also say this. So when he the Holy Prophet came to Sauda; she said: By Him besides whom there is no god; it was under compulsion that I had decided to state that which you told me when he would be at a little distance at the door. So when Allah Messenger ﷺ came near; she said: Messenger of Allah; did you eat Maghafir? He said: No. She again said: Then what is this odour? He said: Hafsa gave me honey to drink. She said: The honey-bee might have sucked Urfut. When he came to me I told him like this. He then visited Safiya and she also said to him like this. When he again visited Hafsa; she said: Messenger of Allah; should I not give you that drink ? He said: I do not need that. Sauda said: Hallowed be Allah; by Him we have contrived to make that honey unlawful for him. I said to her: Keep quiet. The Chapter on Drinks And Sharayah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21516Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him reported: When Allah Apostle ﷺ kept himself away from his wives; I entered the Masjid; and found people striking the ground with pebblesand saying: Allah Messenger ﷺ has divorced his wives; and that was before they were commanded to observe seclusion Umar said to himself: I must find this actual position today. So I went to Aisha Allah be pleased with her and said to her : Daughter of Abu Bakr; have you gone to the extent of giving trouble to Allah Messenger ﷺ ? Thereupon she said: Son of AlKhattab; you have nothing to do with me; and I have nothing to do with you. You should look to your own receptacle. He Umar said: I visited Hafsa daughter of Umar; and said to her: Hafsa; the news has reached me that you cause Allah Messenger ﷺ trouble. You know that Allah Messenger ﷺ does not love you; and had I not been your father he would have divorced you. On hearing this she wept bitterly. I said to her: Where is Allah Messenger ﷺ ? Shesaid: He is in the attic room. I went in and found Rabah; the servant of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; sitting on the thresholds of the window dangling his feet on the hollow wood of the date-palm with the help of which Allah Messenger ﷺ climbed to the apartment and came down. I cried: 0 Rabah; seek permission for me from Allah Messenger way ﷺ. Rabah cast a glance at the apartment and then looked toward me but said nothing. I again said: Rabah; seek permission for me from Allah Messenger ﷺ. Rabah looked towards the apartment and then cast a glance at me; but said nothig. I then raised my voice and said: 0 Rabah; seek permission for me from Allah Messenger ﷺ. I think that Allah Messenger ﷺ is under the impression that I have come for the sake of Hafsa. By Allah; if Allah Messenger ﷺ would command me to strike her neck; I would certainly strike her neck. I raised my voice and he pointed me to climb up and get into his apartment. I visited Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and he was lying on a mat. I sat down and he drew up his lower garment over him and he had nothing else over him; and that the mat had left its marks on his sides. I looked with my eyes in the store room of Allah Messenger ﷺ. I found only a handful of barley equal to one sa and an equal quantity of the leaves of Mimosa Flava placed in the nook of the cell; and a semi-tanned leather bag hanging in one side ; and I was moved to tears on seeing this extremely austere living of the Holy Piophet ; and he said: Ibn AlKhattab; what wakes you weep? I said: Apostle of Allah; why should I not shed tears? This mat has left its marks on your sides and I do not see in your store room except these few things that I have seen; Ceasar and Closroes are leading their lives in plenty whereas you are Allah Messenger. His chosen one; and that is your store! He said: Ibn AlKhattab; arent you satisfied that for us there should be the prosperity of the Hereafter; and for them there should be the prosperity of this world? I said: Yes. And as I had entered I had seen the signs of anger on his face; and I therefore; said: Messenger of Allah; what trouble do you feel from your wives; and if youhave divorced them; verily Allah is with you; His angels; Gabriel; Mikail; I and Abu Bakr and the believers are with you. And seldom I talked and which I uttered on that day I hoped that Allah would testify to my words that I uttered. And so the verse of option Ayat AlTakhyir was revealed. Maybe his Lord; if he divorce you; will give him in your place wives better than you... Ixv. 5. And if you back up one another against him; then surely Allah is his Patron; and Gabriel and the righteous believers; and the angels after that are the aidera lvi. 4. And it was Aisha; daughter of Abu Bakr; and Hafsa who had prevailed upon all the wives of Allah Prophet way ﷺ for pressing them for mote money. I said: Messenger of Allah; have you divorced them? He said: No. I said: Messenger of Allah; I entered the Masjid and found the Muslims playing with pebbles absorbed in thought and saying: Allah Messenger has divorced his wives. Should I get down and inform there that you have not divorced them? He said: Yes; if you so like. And I went on talking to him until I found the signs of anger disappeared on his face and his seriousness was changed to a happy mood and as a result thereof his face had the natural tranquillity upon it and he laughed and his teeth were the most charming among the teeth of all people. Then Allah Apostle ﷺ climbed down and I also climbed down and catching hold of the wood of the palm-tree and Allah Messenger ﷺ came down with such ease as if he was walking on the ground; not touching anything with his hand to get support. I said: Messenger of Allah; you remained in your apartment for twenty-nine days. He said: At times the month consists of twenty-nine days. I stood at the door of the Masjid and I called out at the top of my voice: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has not divorced his wives and it was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: And if any matter pertaining to peace or alarm comes within their ken; they broadcast it; whereas; if they would refer it to the Apostle and those who have been entrusted with authority amongst them; those of them who are engaged in obtaining intelligence would indeed know what to do with it iv 83. And it was I who understood this matter; and Allah revealed the verse pertaining to option given to the Prophet ﷺ in regard to the retaining or divorcing of his wives. The Chapter on Wives And Relationship Mothers in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21517Abdullah Bin Abbas Allah be pleased with tlicm reported: I intended to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him about a verse; but I waited for one year to ask him out of his fear; until he went out for Pilgrimage and I also accompanied him. As he came back and we were on the way he stepped Aasi de towards an Arak tree to ease himself. I waited for him until he was free. I then walked along with him and said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two among the wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ who backed up one another in their demand for extra money ? He said: They were Hafsa and Aisha Allah be pleased with them. I said to him: It is for one year that I intended to ask you about this matter but I could not date so on account of the awe for you. He said: Dont do that. If you think that I have any knowledge; do ask me about that. And if I were to know that; I would inform you. He the narrator stated that Umar had said: By Allah; during the days of ignorance we had no regard for women until Allah the Exalt- ed revealed about them what He has revealed; and appointed turn for them what he appointed. He said: It so happened that I was thinking about some matter that my wife said: I wish you had done that and that. I said to her: It does not concern you and you should not feel disturbed in a matter which I intend to do. She said to me: How strange is it that you; O son of AlKhattab; do not like anyone to retort upon you; whereas your daughter retorts upon Allah Messenger may peace be upou him until he spends the day in vexation. Umar said: I took hold of my cloak; then came out of my house until I visited Hafsa and said to her: O daughter; I heard that you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ until he spends the day in vexation; whereupon Hafsa said: By Allah; we do retort upon him. I said: You should bear in mind; my daughter; that I warn you against the punishment of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ. You may not be misled by one whose beauty has fascinated her; and the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her. I Umar then visited Umm Salamah because of my relationship with her and I talked to her. Umm Salamah said to me: Umar Bin AlKhattab; how strange is it that you meddle with every matter so much so that you are anxious to interfere between Allah Messenger ﷺ and his wives; and this perturbed me so much that I refrained from saying what I had to say; so I came out of her apartment; and I had a friend from the Anar. When I had been absent from the company of the Holy Prophet he used to bring me the news and when he had been absent I used to bring him the news; and at that time we dreaded a king of Ghassan. It was mentioned to us that he intended to attack us; and our minds were haunted by him. My friend; the Ansari; came to me; and he knocked at the door and said: Open it; open it. I said: Has the Ghassani come? He said: The matter is more serious than that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has separated himself from his wives. I said: Let the nose of Hafsa and Aisha be besmeared with dust. I then took hold of my cloth and went out until I came and found Allah Messenger ﷺ in his attic to which he climbed by means of a ladder made of date-palm; and the servant of Allah Messenger ﷺ who was black had been sitting at the end of the ladder. I said: This is Umar. So permission was granted to me. I narrated this news to Allah Messenger ﷺ and as I narrated the news concerning Umm Salamah; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled. He was lying on the mat and there was nothing between him and that mat ; and under his head there was a pillow made of leather and it was stuffed with plam fibres and at his feet were lying a heap of sant tree acacia niloctica; meant for dyeing and near his head there was hanging a hide. And I saw the marks of the maton the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and so I wept. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Messenger of Allah; the Khusrau and the Ceasars spendd their lives in the midst of luxuries ; whereas you being Allah Messenger are leading your life in this poverty. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Dont you like that they should have riches of their world; and you have the Hereafter. The Chapter on Parents And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-21520Ibn Abbas Allah be pleased with them reported. I had always been anxious to ask Umar Allah be pleased with him about the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet may peace be upon Lim about whom Allah; the Exalted; said: If you both turn in repentance to Allah; then indeed your hearts are inclined to this Ixvi. 4 ; until Umar Allah be pleased with him set out for Hajj and I also went along with him. And as we were going along a path; Umar Allah be pleased with hiyn went Aasi de and I also went Aasi de with him with a jug of water. He answered the call of nature; and then came to me and I poured water over his hands and he performed ablution I said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two ladies amongst the wives of Allah Prophet ﷺ about whom Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; said: If you both turn to Allah in repentance; then indeed your heart are inclined to it? Umar Allah he pleased with him said: How strange is it for you; Ibn Abbas! Zuhri said: By Allah; he disliked what he asked about; but did not keep it a secret. He Umar said: They are Hafsa and Aisha; and he then began to narrate the hadith and said: We were such people among the Quraish who dominated women; and as we reached Medina we found there people who were dominated by their women; and our women began to learn the habits of their women. He further said: And my house was situated in the suburb of Aledina in the tribe of Banu Umaya Bin Zaid. One day I became angry with my wife and she retorted upon me. I did not like that she should retort upon me. She said: You disapprove of my retorting upon you By Allah; the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him; and one of them detaches herself from him for the day until the night. So I Umar went out and visited Hafsa and said: Do you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ ? She said: Yes. I said; Does any one of you detach herself from him from the day to the night? She said: Yes. He said: She who did like it amongst you in fact failed and incurred loss. Does everyone amongst you not fear the wrath of Allah upon her due to the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ ; and as a result thereof she may perish? So do not retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ and do not ask him for anything; but ask me that which you desire; and the frank behaviour of your companion may not mislead you; if she is more graceful and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you meaning Aisha Allah be pleased with her. He Hadrat Umar further said: I had a compalaion from the Ansar and; we used to remain in the company of the Messenger ﷺ turn by turn. He remained there for a day while I remained there on the other day; and he brought me the news about the revelation and other matter ; and I brought him the news like this. And we discussed that the Ghassanids were shoeing the horses in order to attack us. Id y companion once attended the Apostle. and then came to me at night and knocked at my door and called me; and I came out to him; and he said: A matter of great importance has happened. I said: What is that? Have the Ghassanids come? He said: No; but even more serious and more significant than that: the Prophet ﷺ has divorced his wives. I said: Hafsa has failed and has incurred loss. and I feared that it would happen. When it was dawn I observed the dawn prayer and dressed myself; and then came there in the house of the Holy Prophet and visited Hafsa; and she was weeping. I said: Has Allah Messenger ﷺ divorced you all ? She said: I do not know. He has; however; separated himself in his attic. I came to a black servant and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and then came to me and said: I made mention of you to him; but he kept quiet. I then went to the pulpit and sat there; and there was a group of people sitting by it and some of then were weeping. I sat there for some time; until I was overpowered by that very idea which was in my mind. I then came back to the boy and said to him: Seek permission for Umar. He went in and came to me and said: I made mention of you to him but he kept quiet. I was about to turn back when the boy called me and said: Go in; permission has been granted to you. I went in and greeted Allah Messenger ﷺ and he was reclining against the couch of mat and it had left its marks upon his side. I said: Messenger of Allah; have you divorced your wives? He raised his head towards me and said: No. I said: Allah is the Greatest. Messenger of Allah; I wish if you had seen how we the people of Quraish had domination over women but when we came to Medina we found people whom their women dominated. So our women began to learn from their women. One dily I became angry with my wife and she began to retort upon me. I did not approve that she should retort upon me. She said: You do not like that I should retort upon you; but; by Allah. the wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ retort upon him and any one of them separates herself from him for a day until night. I said: He who did that amongst them in fact failed and incurred loss. Does any of them feel sate from the wrath of Allahupon her due to the wrath of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and she has certainly perished. Allah Messtnger ﷺ smiled; I said: Messenger of Allah; I visited Hafsa and said: The behaviour of your companion Aisha may not mislead you; If she is more graceful than you and is dearer to Allah Messenger ﷺ than you. Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled for the second time. I said: Allah Messenger; way I talk to you about agreeable things? He said: Yes. I sat down and lifted my head to see things in the house and; by Allah; I did not see anything significant besides three hides. I said: Messenger of Allah; supplicate the Lord that He should make life prosperous for your Ummah as He has made plentiful for the people of Persia and Rome in spite of the fact that they do no; worship Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; whereupon he Allah Messenger sat up an I then said: Ibn AlKhattab; do you doubt that they are a nation whom their nice things have been given immediately in the life of this world. I said: Allah Messenger! seek pardon for me. And he Allah Messenger had taken an oath that he would not visit them for a month due to extreme annoyance with them until Allah showed His displeasure to him Allah Messenger. Zuhri said: Urwa informed me that AIsha Allah be pleased with her said: When twenty-nine nights were over; Allah Messenger ﷺ visited me; and he began his visit with me. I said: Messenger of Allah; you had taken an oath that you would not visit us for a month; while you have visited after I have counted only twenty-nine nights. Thereupon he said: The month may also be of twenty-nine days.
