SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6096 | Narrated AlBara bin Azib : When the Prophet ﷺ came to Medina; he stayed first with his grandfathers or maternal uncles from Ansar. He offered his prayers facing Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months; but he wished that he could pray facing the Kaba at Mecca. The first prayer which he offered facing the Kaba was the Asr prayer in the company of some people. Then one of those who had offered that prayer with him came out and passed by some people in a Masjid who were bowing during their prayers facing Jerusalem. He said addressing them; By Allah; I testify that I have prayed with Allah Messenger ﷺ facing Mecca Kaba. Hearing that; those people changed their direction towards the Kaba immediately. Jews and the people of the scriptures used to be pleased to see the Prophet ﷺ facing Jerusalem in prayers but when he changed his direction towards the Kaba; during the prayers; they disapproved of it. AlBara added; Before we changed our direction towards the Kaba Mecca in prayers; some Muslims had died or had been killed and we did not know what to say about them regarding their prayers. Allah then revealed: And Allah would never make your faith prayers to be lost i.e. the prayers of those Muslims were valid. 2:143. | The Chapter on Changing The Qiblah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The offering of Salat prayers is a part of faith in Sahih AlBukhari | |
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6201 | Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: People say; Whenever you sit for answering the call of nature; you should not face the Qibla or Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem. I told them. Once I went up the roof of our house and I saw Allah Apostle answering the call of nature while sitting on two bricks facing Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem but there was a screen covering him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6805 | Narrated AlBara: The Prophet ﷺ prayed facing Bait AlMaqdis i.e. Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months but he wished that his Qibla would be the Kaba at Mecca. So Allah Revealed 2.144 and he offered Asr prayers in his Masjid facing Kaba at Mecca and some people prayed with him. A man from among those who had prayed with him; went out and passed by some people offering prayer in another Masjid; and they were in the state of bowing. He said; I; swearing by Allah; testify that I have prayed with the Prophet ﷺ facing Mecca. Hearing that; they turned their faces to the Kaba while they were still bowing. Some men had died before the Qibla was changed towards the Kaba. They had been killed and we did not know what to say about them i.e. whether their prayers towards Jerusalem were accepted or not. So Allah revealed:- And Allah would never make your faith i.e. prayer to be lost i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem. Truly Allah is Full of Pity; Most Merciful towards mankind. 2.143 | The Chapter on Changing The Qiblah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari |

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28023 | Anas said: The Prophet ﷺ and his Companions used to pray in the direction of Jerusalem. When the following verse was revealed: So turn thy face towards the inviolable Masjid; and Ye O Muslims ; wheresoever ye may be; turn your face towards it ii. 144 ; a man passed by the people of Banu Salamah. He called them while they were bowing in the morning prayer facing Jerusalem: Lo; the qiblah direction of prayer has been changed towards the kabah. He called them twice. So they turned their faces towards the Kabah while they were bowing. | The Chapter on Changing The Qiblah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever Prayed Toward A Direction Other Than the Qiblah Then Discovered The Direction Of The Qiblah in Sunan Abu Dawoud |
