SahihMuslim-017-001-17449 | Jabir reported: Allah Messenger may peace he upon him sent us on an expedition and appointed Abu Ubaida our chief that we might intercept a caravan of the Quraish and provided us with a bag of dates. And he found for us nothing besides it. Abu Ubaida gave each of us one date everyday. I Abu Zubair; one of the narrators said: What did you do with that? He said: We sucked that just as a baby sucks and then drank water over that; and it sufficed us for the day until night. We beat off leaves with the help of our staffs; then drenched them with water and ate them. We then went to the coast of the sea; and there rose before us on the coast of the sea something like a big mound. We came near that and we found that it was a beast; called AlAnbar spermaceti whale. Abu Ubaida said. It is dead. He then said: No but it does not matter ; we have been sent by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the path of Allah and you are hard pressed on account of the scarcity of food ; so you eat that. We three hundred in number stayed there for a month; until we grew bulky. He Jabir said: I saw how we extracted pitcher after pitcher full of fat from the cavity of its eye; and sliced from it compact piece of meat equal to a bull or like a bull. Abu Ubaida called forth thirteen men from us and he made them sit in the cavity of its eye; and he took hold of one of the ribs of its chest and made it stand and then saddled the biggest of the camels we had with us and it passed under it the arched rib ; and we provided ourselves with pieces of boiled meat especially for use in our journey. When we came back to Medina; we went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: That was a provision which Allah had brought forth for you. Is there any piece of meat left with you; so tnat you give to us that? He Jabir said: We sent to Allah Messenger ﷺ tome of that a piece of meat and he ate it. | The Chapter on Lost And Found And Dates in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 4 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19244 | Abu Saeed AlKhudri reported Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: The Dajjal would come forth and a person from amongst the believers would go towards him and the armed men of the Dajjal would meet him and they would say to him: Where do you intend to go? He would say: I intend to go to this one who is coming forth. They would say to him: Dont you believe in our Lord? He would say: There is nothing hidden about our Lord. They would say: Kill him. Then some amongst them would say: Has your master Dajjal not forbidden you to kill anyone without his consent ? And so they would take him to the Dajjal and when the believer would see him; he would say: O people. he is the Dajjil about whom Allah Messenger ﷺ has informed us. The Dajjal would then order for breaking his head and utter these words : Catch hold of him and break his head. He would be struck even on his back and on his stomach. Then the Dajjal would ask him: Dont you believe in me? He would say: You are a false Masih. He would then order him to be torn into pieces with a saw from the parting of his hair up to his legs. After that the Dajjal would walk between the two pieces. He would then say to him: Stand; and he would stand erect. He would then say to him: Dont you believe in me? And the person would say: It has only added to my insight concerning you that you are really the Dajjal. He would then say: O people; he would not behave with anyone amongst people in such a manner after me. The Dajjal would try to catch hold of him so that he should kill him again. The space between his neck and collar bone would be turned into copper and he would find no means to kill him. So he would catch hold of him by his hand and feet and throw him into the air and the people would think as if he had been thrown in the Hell-Fire whereas he would be thrown in Paradise. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He would be the most eminent amongst persons in regard to martyrdom in the eye of the Lord of the world. | The Chapter on Games And Hunting And Aldajjal in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 21 in Sahih Muslim

Humaid said: I said to Zainab: What is this throwing a piece of dung at the end of the year? She said: If a woman husband died; she would enter a small room Hifsh and wear her worst clothes; and she would not put on perfume or anything until a year. Then an animal would be brought; a donkey or sheep or bird; and she would end her Iddah with it clean herself with it ; and usually any animal used for that purpose would die. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25138 | Humaid Ibn Nafi reported the following three traditions on the authority of Zaynab; daughter of Abu Salamah: Zainab said: I visited Umm Habibah when her father Abu Sufyan; died. She asked for some yellow perfume containing saffron khaluq or something else. Then she applied it to a girl and touched her cheeks. She said: I have no need of perfume; but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to observe mourning for one who has died; more than three nights; except for four months and ten days in the case of a husband. Zaynab said: I also visited Zaynab; daughter of Jahsh; when her brother died. She asked for some perfume and used it upon herself. She then said: I have no need of perfume; but I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say when he was on the pulpit: It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to observe mourning for one who has died; more than three nights; except for four months and ten days in the case of a husband. Zaynab said: I heard my mother; Umm Salamah; say: A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah; the husband of my daughter has died; and she is suffering from sore eyes; may we put antimony in her eyes? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No. He said this twice or thrice. Each time he said: No. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The waiting period is now four months and ten days. In pre-Islamic days one of you used to throw away a piece of dung at the end of a year. Humayd said: I asked Zaynab: What do you mean by throwing away a piece of dung at the end of a year. Zaynab replied: When the husband of a woman died; she entered a small cell and put on shabby clothes; not touching perfume or any other thing until a year passed. Then an animal such as donkey or sheep or bird was provided for her. She rubbed herself with it. The animal with which she rubbed herself rarely survived. She then came out and was given a piece of dung which she threw away. She then used perfume or something else which she desired.Abu Dawud said: The Arabic word hafsh means a small cell. | The Chapter on Marriage And Kohl And Clothing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Rulings Of Mourning For Woman Whose Husband Has Died in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25849 | Ibn Abbas said: Abu Huraira said that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I saw in my dream a piece of cloud from which ghee and honey were dropping. I saw the people spreading their hands. Some of them took much and some a little. I also saw a rope hanging from Heaven to Earth. I saw; Messenger of Allah; that you caught hold of it and ascended by it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it and ascended it. Then another man caught hold of it; but it broke; and then it was joined and he ascended it. Abu Bakr said: May my parents be sacrificed for you; if you allow; I shall interpret it. He said: Interpret it. He said: The piece of cloud is the cloud of Islam; the ghee and honey that were dropping from it are the Quran; which contains softness and sweetness. Those who received much or little of it are those who learn much or little of the Quran. The rope hanging from Heaven to Earth is the truth which you are following. You catch hold of it and then Allah will raise you to Him. Then another man will catch hold of it and ascend it; Then another man will catch hold of it and it will break. But it will be joined and he will ascend it. Tell me. Messenger of Allah; whether I am right or wrong. He said: You are partly right and partly wrong. MuwataMalik-017-001-34246 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from his father that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was on one of his journeys; and one night Umar Ibn AlKhattab; who was travelling with him; asked him about something; but he did not answer him. He asked him again; but he did not answer him. Then he asked him again; and again he did not answer him. Umar said; May your mother be bereaved of you; Umar. Three times you have importuned the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; with a question and he has not answered you at all. Umar continued; I got my camel moving until; when I was in front of the people; I feared that a piece of Quran was being sent down about me. It was not long before I heard a crier calling for me; and I said that I feared that a piece of Quran had been sent down about me. He continued; I came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Peace be upon you to him; and he said; A Surat has been sent down to me this night that is more beloved to me than anything on which the sun rises. Then he recited AlFath Surat 48. | The Chapter on Communication And Answers in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Congregation in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-34254 | Malik said; The imam does not come down and prostrate when he recites a piece of Quran requiring a prostration while he is on the mimbar. Malik said; The position with us is that there are eleven prescribed prostrations in the Quran; none of which are in the mufassal. Malik said; No-one should recite any of the pieces of Quran that require a prostration after the prayers of subh and asr. This is because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade prayer after subh until after the sun had risen; and after asr until the sun had set; and prostration is part of the prayer. So no-one should recite any piece of Quran requiring a prostration during these two periods of time. Malik was asked whether a menstruating woman could prostrate if she heard some-one reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration; and he said; Neither a man nor a woman should prostrate unless they are ritually pure. Malik was asked whether a man in the company of a woman who was reciting a passage of Quran requiring a prostration should prostrate with her; and he said; He does not have to prostrate with her. The prostration is only obligatory for people who are with a man who is leading them. He recites the piece and they prostrate with him. Some one who hears a piece of Quran that requires a prostration being recited by a man who is not leading him in prayer does not have to do the prostration. | The Chapter on Prostration While Reciting Alquran in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prayer in Congregation in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35298 | Zaynab said; I heard my mother; Umm Salamah; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah! My daughter husband died; and her eyes are troubling her; can she put kohl on them? The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; No two or three times. Then he said; It is only four months and ten days. In the Aljahiliya; none of you threw away the piece of dung until a year had passed. Humayd Ibn Nafi said; I asked Zaynab to explain what throwing away the piece of dung at the end of a year meant. Zaynab said; In the Aljahiliya when a woman husband died; she went into a small tent and dressed in the worst of clothes. She did not touch perfume or anything until a year had passed. Then she was brought an animal - a donkey; a sheep; or a bird; and she would break her idda with it; by rubbing her body against it taftaddu. Rarely did she break her idda with anything by rubbing herself against it but that it died. Then she would come out and would be given a piece of dung. She would throw it away and then return to whatever she wished of perfumes or whatever. Malik explained; Taftaddu means to wipe her skin with it in the same way as with a healing charm. | The Chapter on Marriage And Entitlements in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Sacrificial Animals in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36002 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Yahya Ibn Said said; The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; had wanted to take two pieces of wood to strike them together to gather people for the prayer; and Abdullah Ibn Zayd AlAnsari; then of the tribe of Harith Ibn AlKhazraj; was shown two pieces of wood in his sleep. He said; These are close to what the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; wants. Then it was said; Do you not call to the prayer?; so when he woke up he went to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and mentioned the dream to him.
