SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3118 | Narrated Anas: I know about the Hijab the order of veiling of women more than anybody else. Ubai Bin Kaab used to ask me about it. Allah Messenger ﷺ became the bridegroom of Zainab bint Jahsh whom he married at Medina. After the sun had risen high in the sky; the Prophet ﷺ invited the people to a meal. Allah Apostle remained sitting and some people remained sitting with him after the other guests had left. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ got up and went away; and I too; followed him till he reached the door of Aisha room. Then he thought that the people must have left the place by then; so he returned and I also returned with him. Behold; the people were still sitting at their places. So he went back again for the second time; and I went along with him too. When we reached the door of Aisha room; he returned and I also returned with him to see that the people had left. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3365 | Narrated Saad Bin Abi Waqqas: Umar Bin AlKhattab asked the permission of Allah Messenger ﷺ to see him while some Quraishi women were sitting with him; talking to him and asking him for more expenses; raising their voices above the voice of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When Umar asked for the permission to enter; the women quickly put on their veils. Allahsf Apostle allowed him to enter and Umar came in while Allah Messenger ﷺ was smiling; Umar said O Allah Apostle! May Allah always keep you smiling. The Prophet ﷺ said; These women who have been here; roused my wonder; for as soon as they heard your voice; they quickly put on their veils. Umar said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! You have more right to be feared by them than I. Then Umar addressed the women saying; O enemies of yourselves! You fear me more than you do Allah Messenger ﷺ ? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3477 | Narrated Anas: The Prophet ﷺ stayed for three days between Khaibar and Medina; and there he consummated his marriage to Safiya bint Huyai. I invited the Muslims to the wedding banquet in which neither meat nor bread was offered. He ordered for leather dining-sheets to be spread; and dates; dried yoghurt and butter were laid on it; and that was the Prophet wedding banquet. The Muslims wondered; Is she Saffiya considered as his wife or his slave girl? Then they said; If he orders her to veil herself; she will be one of the mothers of the Believers; but if he does not order her to veil herself; she will be a slave girl. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3927 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Abu Talha said to Um Sulaim; I have noticed feebleness in the voice of Allah Messenger ﷺ which I think; is caused by hunger. Have you got any food? She said; Yes. She brought out some loaves of barley and took out a veil belonging to her; and wrapped the bread in part of it and put it under my arm and wrapped part of the veil round me and sent me to Allah Messenger ﷺ. I went carrying it and found Allah Messenger ﷺ in the Masjid sitting with some people. When I stood there; Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; Has Abu Talha sent you? I said; Yes. He asked; With some food? I said; Yes Allah Apostle then said to the men around him; Get up! He set out accompanied by them and I went ahead of them till I reached Abu Talha and told him of the Prophet visit. Abu Talha said; O Um Sulaim! Allah Messenger ﷺ is coming with the people and we have no food to feed them. She said; Allah and His Apostle know better. So Abu Talha went out to receive Allah Messenger ﷺ. Allah Apostle came along with Abu Talha. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Um Sulaim! Bring whatever you have. She brought the bread which Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered to be broken into pieces. Um Sulaim poured on them some butter from an oilskin. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ recited what Allah wished him to recite; and then said; Let ten persons come to share the meal. Ten persons were admitted; ate their fill and went out. Then he again said; Let another ten do the same. They were admitted; ate their fill and went out. Then he again said; Let another ten persons do the same. They were admitted; ate their fill and went out. Then he said; Let another ten persons come. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-416 | Narrated Ayoub : Hafsa bint Seereen said; On Id we used to forbid our girls to go out for Id prayer. A lady came and stayed at the palace of Bani Khalaf and I went to her. She said; The husband of my sister took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet ﷺ and my sister was with her husband in six of them. My sister said that they used to nurse the sick and treat the wounded. Once she asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! If a woman has no veil; is there any harm if she does not come out on Id day ? The Prophet ﷺ said; Her companion should let her share her veil with her; and the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. Hafsa added; When Um-Atiya came; I went to her and asked her; Did you hear anything about so-and-so? Um-Atiya said; Yes; let my father be sacrificed for the Prophet ﷺ. And whenever she mentioned the name of the Prophet ﷺ she always used to say; Let my father be sacrificed for him. He said; Virgin mature girls staying often screened or said; Mature girls and virgins staying often screened-Aiyub is not sure as which was right and menstruating women should come out on the Id day. But the menstruating women should keep away from the Mousalla. And all the women should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. Hafsa said; On that I said to Um-Atiya; Also those who are menstruating? Um-Atiya replied; Yes. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5643 | Narrated Ayoub : Hafsa said; We used to forbid our young women to go out for the two Id prayers. A woman came and stayed at the palace of Bani Khalaf and she narrated about her sister whose husband took part in twelve holy battles along with the Prophet ﷺ and her sister was with her husband in six out of these twelve. She the woman sister said; We used to treat the wounded; look after the patients and once I asked the Prophet; Is there any harm for any of us to stay at home if she doesnt have a veil? He said; She should cover herself with the veil of her companion and should participate in the good deeds and in the religious gathering of the Muslims. When Um Atiya came I asked her whether she had heard it from the Prophet. She replied; Yes. May my father be sacrificed for him the Prophet ! Whenever she mentioned the Prophet ﷺ she used to say; May my father be sacrificed for him I have heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; The unmarried young virgins and the mature girl who stay often screened or the young unmarried virgins who often stay screened and the menstruating women should come out and participate in the good deeds as well as the religious gathering of the faithful believers but the menstruating women should keep away from the Mousalla praying place. Hafsa asked Um Atiya surprisingly; Do you say the menstruating women? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5754 | Ibn Juraij said; Ata informed us that when Ibn Hisham forbade women to perform Tawaf with men he said to him; How do you forbid them while the wives of the Prophet ﷺ used to perform Tawaf with the men? I said; Was this before decreeing of the use of the veil or after it? Ata took an oath and said; I saw it after the order of veil. I said; How did they mix with the men? Ata said; The women never mixed with the men; and Aisha used to perform Tawaf separately and never mixed with men. Once it happened that Aisha was performing the Tawaf and woman said to her; O Mother of believers! Let us touch the Black stone. Aisha said to her; Go yourself; and she herself refused to do so. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ used to come out in night; in disguise and used to perform Tawaf with men. But whenever they intended to enter the Kabah; they would stay outside till the men had gone out. I and Ubaid Bin Umair used to visit Aisha while she was residing at Jauf Thabir. I asked; What was her veil? Ata said; She was wearing an old Turkish veil; and that was the only thing veil which was screen between us and her. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5784 | Narrated Hafsa: On Id We used to forbid our virgins to go out for Id prayer. A lady came and stayed at the Palace of Bani Khalaf. She mentioned that her sister was married to one of the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ who participated in twelve Ghazawats along with Allah Messenger ﷺ and her sister was with him in six of them. She said; We used to dress the wounded and look after the patients. She her sister asked Allah Messenger ﷺ ; Is there any harm for a woman to stay at home if she doesnt have a veil? He said; She should cover herself with the veil of her companion and she should take part in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. When Um Atiya came; I asked her. Did you hear anything about that? Um Atiya said; Bi Abi and she never mentioned the name of Allah Messenger ﷺ without saying Bi Abi i.e. Let my father be sacrificed for you. We asked her; Have you heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying so and so about women ? She replied in the affirmative and said; Let my father be sacrificed for him. He told us that unmarried mature virgins who stay often screened or unmarried young virgins and mature girls who stay often screened should come out and take part in the good deeds and in the religious gatherings of the believers. But the menstruating women should keep away from the Mousalla praying place. I asked her; The menstruating women? Allah Messenger ﷺ arranged the wedding feast consisting of dates; cheese; and refined butter; and pits were dug and tiers were set in them dining cloths; and there was brought cheese and refined butter; and these were placed there. And the people ate to their fill; and they said: We do not know whether he the Holy Prophet had married her as a free woman ; or as a slave woman. They said: If he the Holy Prophet would make her wear the veil; then she would be a free married woman; and if he would not make her wear the veil; then she should be a slave woman. When he intended to ride; he made her wear the veil and she sat on the hind part of the camel; so they came to know that he had married her. As they approached Medina; Allah Messenger ﷺ drove his ride quickly and so we did. Adba the name of Allah Apostle camel stumbled and Allah Messenger ﷺ fell down and she Radrat Safiya: also fell down.
