They took it for worship and they did wrong.

Even so, from that (ore) which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is a scum likewise. Thus doth Allah (by parables) show forth Truth and Vanity. For the scum disappears like forth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth. Thus doth Allah set forth parables.

And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.

Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful.

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5951		Narrated Ibn Abbas: I am a witness that Allah Messenger ﷺ offered the Id prayer before delivering the sermon and then he thought that the women would not be able to hear him because of the distance ; so he went to them along with Bilal who was spreading his garment. The Prophet ﷺ advised and ordered them to give in charity. So the women started giving their ornaments in charity. The sub-narrator Ayoub pointed towards his ears and neck meaning that they gave ornaments from those places such as earrings and necklaces.	The Chapter on Recitations And Poetry And Evil in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Zakat may be paid in kind and not in cash in Sahih AlBukhari
