SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1181		Narrated Umar Bin AlKhattab: I heard Hisham Bin Hakim reciting Surat AlFurqan during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; I listened to his recitation and noticed that he was reciting in a way that Allah Messenger ﷺ had not taught me. I was about to jump over him while He was still in prayer; but I waited patiently and when he finished his prayer; I put my sheet round his neck and pulled him and said; Who has taught you this Surat which I have heard you reciting? Hisham said; Allah Messenger ﷺ taught it to me. I said; You are telling a lie; for he taught it to me in a way different from the way you have recited it! Then I started leading dragged him to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said to the Prophet ; I have heard this man reciting Surat AlFurqan in a way that you have not taught me. The Prophet ﷺ said: O Umar release him! Recite; O Hisham. Hisham recited in the way I heard him reciting. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; It was revealed like this. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Recite; O Umar! I recited in the way he had taught me; whereupon he said; It was revealed like this; and added; The Quran has been revealed to be recited in seven different ways; so recite of it whichever is easy for you. I listened to his recitation and noticed that he recited it in several different ways which Allah Messenger ﷺ had not taught me. So I was about to jump over him during his Prayer prayer but I waited till he finished his Prayer prayer whereupon I put; either his upper garment or my upper garment around his neck and seized him by it and asked him; Who has taught you this Surah? He replied: Allah Messenger ﷺ has taught it to me. I said to him ; You have told a lie! By Allah; Allah Messenger ﷺ has taught me this Surah which I have heard you reciting. So I dragged him to the Allah Messenger ﷺ. I said: O Allah Messenger I have heard this man reciting Surat AlFurqan in a way in which you have not taught me; and you did teach me Surah AlFurqan. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Umar; release him! Recite; O Hisham. So Hisham recited before him in the way as I heard him reciting. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; It has been revealed like this. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Recite; O Umar So recited it. The Prophet ﷺ said; It has been revealed like this. And then he added; This Quran has been revealed to be recited in seven different ways; so recite it whichever way is easier for you. He replied; Allah Messenger ﷺ taught it to me. I said; You have told a lie; for Allah Messenger ﷺ has taught it to me in a different way from yours. So I dragged him to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; I heard this person reciting Surat AlFurqan in a way which you havent taught me! On that Allah Apostle said; Release him; O Umar! Recite; O Hisham! Then he recited in the same way as I heard him reciting. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; It was revealed in this way; and added; Recite; O Umar! I recited it as he had taught me. So I took him; leading him to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I heard this person reciting Surat AlFurqan in a way that you did not teach me; and you have taught me Surat AlFurqan. The Prophet said; O Hisham; recite! So he recited in the same way as I heard him recite it before. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ said; It was revealed to be recited in this way. The Prophet ﷺ ordered me to release him and asked Hisham to recite it. When he recited it; Allah s Apostle said; It was revealed in this way. He then asked me to recite it. SahihMuslim-017-001-23958		Umar Bin AlKhattab said: I heard Hisham Bin Hakim Bin Hizam reciting Surah AlFurqan in a style different from that in which I used to recite it; and in which Allah Messenger ﷺ had taught me to recite it. I was about to dispute with him on this style but I delayed till he had finished that the recitation. Then I caught hold of his cloak and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Messenger of Allah; I heard this man reciting Surah AlFurqan in a style different from the one in which you taught me to recite. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me to leave him alone and asked him to recite. He then recited in the style in which I beard him recite it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Thus was it sent down. He then told me to recite and I recited it; and he said: Thus was it sent down. The Quran was sent down in seven dialects. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-8504		Narrated Umar Bin AlKhattab: I passed by Hisham Bin Hakim Bin Hizam while he was reciting Surat AlFurqan during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I listened to his recitation and noticed that he recited it in several different ways; which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had not taught me. I was about to jump over him during his Prayer; but waited until he said the Salam. When he had said the Salam; I strangled him with his upper-garment and said: Who taught you this Surah which I heard you reciting? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught it to me. I said to him: You lie! By Allah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me this Surah which you were reciting. I dragged him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah! I heard this one reciting Surat AlFurqan in a manner different from how you taught me; and you taught me Surat AlFurqan. The Prophet ﷺ said: Release him O Umar! Recite O Hisham. So he recited it for him as I had heard him reciting. Then the Prophet ﷺ said to me: This is how it was revealed. Then the Prophet ﷺ said to me; Recite O Umar. So I recited the recitation which the Prophet ﷺ taught me. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is how it was revealed. Then the Prophet ﷺ said Indeed this Quran was revealed in seven modes; so recite of it what is easier for you. I said: Who taught you this Surah? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: You are lying; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not teach you like that. I took him by the hand and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah; you taught me Surat AlFurqan; but I heard this man reciting it in a way that you did not teach me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Recite; O Hisham. So he recited it as he had recited it before. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It was revealed like this. Then he said: Recite; O Umar. So I recited it; and he said: It was revealed like this. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The Quran was revealed to be recited in seven different modes. When he had said the Salam I grabbed him by his garment and said: Who taught you this Surah that I heard you reciting? He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me it. I said: You are lying; by Allah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ is the one who taught me this Surah that I heard you reciting. I took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah; I heard this man reciting Surat AlFurqan in a way that you did not teach me; but you taught me Surat AlFurqan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Let him go; O Umar. Recite; O Hisham. So I recited it to him in the way that I had heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It was revealed like this. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Recite; O Umar. So I recited it in the way that he had taught me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: It was revealed like this. I nearly spoke sharply to him; but I delayed till he had finished. Then I caught his cloak at the neck; and I brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said: Messenger of Allah; I heard this man reciting Surah AlFurqan in a manner different from that in which you taught me to recite it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ the told him to recite it. He then recited in the manner I heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Thus was it sent down. He then said to me: Recite; I recited it. He then said: Thus was it sent down. He said: The Quran was sent down in seven modes of reading; so recite according to what comes most easily. MuwataMalik-017-001-34242		Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa Ibn AlZubair that Abdulrahman Ibn Abd AlQari said that he had heard Umar Ibn AlKhattab say; I heard Hisham Ibn Hakim Ibn Hizam reciting Surat AlFurqan Surat 25 differently from me; and it was the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; who had recited it to me. I was about to rush up to him but I granted him a respite until he had finished his prayer. Then I grabbed him by his cloak and took him to the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and said; Messenger of Allah; I heard this man reciting Surat AlFurqan differently from the way you recited it to me. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Let him go. Then he said; Recite; Hisham; and Hisham recited as I had heard him recite. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It was sent down like that. Then he said to me; Recite and I recited the sura; and he said; It was sent down like that. This Quran was sent down in seven different ways; so recite from it whatever is easy for you.
