Comb In Sahih AlBukhari

Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1784Narrated Khabbab Bin AlArt: We complained to Allah Messenger ﷺ about our state while he was leaning against his sheet cloak in the shade of the Kaba. We said; Will you ask Allah to help us? Will you invoke Allah for us? He said; Among those who were before you a believer used to be seized and; a pit used to be dug for him and then he used to be placed in it. Then a saw used to be brought and put on his head which would be split into two halves. His flesh might be combed with iron combs and removed from his bones; yet; all that did not cause him to revert from his religion. By Allah! This religion Islam will be completed and triumph till a rider traveler goes from Sana the capital of Yemen to Hadramout fearing nobody except Allah and the wolf lest it should trouble his sheep; but you are impatient. See Hadith No. 191; Vol. 5The Chapter on Garments And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever preferred to be beaten killed and humiliated rather than to revert to Kufr in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1879Narrated Aisha: that Allah Messenger ﷺ was affected by magic; so much that he used to think that he had done something which in fact; he did not do; and he invoked his Lord for a remedy. Then one day he said; O Aisha! Do you know that Allah has advised me as to the problem I consulted Him about? Aisha said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! What that? He said; Two men came to me and one of them sat at my head and the other at my feet; and one of them asked his companion; What is wrong with this man? The latter replied; He is under the effect of magic. The former asked; Who has worked magic on him? The latter replied; Labid Bin AlAsam. The former asked; With what did he work the magic? The latter replied; With a comb and the hair; which are stuck to the comb; and the skin of pollen of a date-palm tree. The former asked; Where is that? The latter replied; It is in Dharwan. Dharwan was a well in the dwelling place of the tribe of Bani Zuraiq. Allah Messenger ﷺ went to that well and returned to Aisha; saying; By Allah; the water of the well was as red as the infusion of Hinna; 1 and the date-palm trees look like the heads of devils. Aisha added; Allah Messenger ﷺ came to me and informed me about the well. I asked the Prophet; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; why didnt you take out the skin of pollen? He said; As for me; Allah has cured me and I hated to draw the attention of the people to such evil which they might learn and harm others with. Narrated Hisham father: Aisha said; Allah Messenger ﷺ was bewitched; so he invoked Allah repeatedly requesting Him to cure him from that magic. Hisham then narrated the above narration. See Hadith No. 658; Vol. 7The Chapter on Grooming The Women in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To repeat the invocation in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1914Narrated Sahl Bin Sad: A man peeped through a round hole into the dwelling place of the Prophet; while the Prophet ﷺ had a Midray an iron comb with which he was scratching his head. the Prophet ﷺ said; Had known you were looking through the hole ; I would have pierced your eye with it i.e.; the comb. Verily! The order of taking permission to enter has been enjoined because of that sight; that one should not look unlawfully at the state of others. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3715Narrated Khabbaba: I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was leaning against his sheet cloak in the shade of the Kaba. We were suffering greatly from the pagans in those days. i said to him. Will you invoke Allah to help us ? He sat down with a red face and said; A believer among those who were before you used to be combed with iron combs so that nothing of his flesh or nerves would remain on his bones; yet that would never make him desert his religion. A saw might be put over the parting of his head which would be split into two parts; yet all that would never make him abandon his religion. Allah will surely complete this religion i.e. Islam so that a traveler from Sana to Hadra-maut will not be afraid of anybody except Allah. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3959Narrated Khabbab Bin AlArat: We complained to Allah Messenger ﷺ of the persecution inflicted on us by the infidels while he was sitting in the shade of the Kaba; leaning over his Burd i.e. covering sheet. We said to him; Would you seek help for us? Would you pray to Allah for us? He said; Among the nations before you a believing man would be put in a ditch that was dug for him; and a saw would be put over his head and he would be cut into two pieces; yet that torture would not make him give up his religion. His body would be combed with iron combs that would remove his flesh from the bones and nerves; yet that would not make him abandon his religion. By Allah; this religion i.e. Islam will prevail till a traveler from Sana in Yemen to Hadrarmaut will fear none but Allah; or a wolf as regards his sheep; but you people are hasty. The Chapter on Grooming The Child in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The signs of Prophethood in Islam in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5617Narrated Urwa: A person asked me; Can a woman in menses serve me? And can a Junub woman come close to me? I replied; All this is easy for me. All of them can serve me; and there is no harm for any other person to do the same. Aisha told me that she used to comb the hair of Allah Messenger ﷺ while she was in her menses; and he was in Itikaf in the Masjid. He would bring his head near her in her room and she would comb his hair; while she used to be in her menses. The Chapter on Grooming Coloring The Head Hair in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The washing of the husband head and the combing of his hair by a menstruating wife in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-19984Umm Salamah reported that she heard Allah Apostle ﷺ saying this as he was sitting on the pulpit and she was getting her hair combed. He uttered these words : O people. SahihMuslim-017-001-20231Aisha reported: that a Jew from among the Jews of Banu Zuraiq who was called Labid Bin AlAsam cast a spell upon Allah Messenger ﷺ with the result that he under the influence of the spell felt that he had been doing something whereas in fact he had not been doing that. This state of affairs lasted until one day or during one night Allah Messenger ﷺ made supplication to dispel its effects. He again made a supplication and he again did this and said to Aisha: Do you know that Allah has told me what I had asked Him? There came to me two men and one amongst them sat near my head and the other one near my feet and he who sat near my head said to one who sat near my feet or one who sat near my feet said to one who sat near my head: What is the trouble with the man? He said: The spell has affected him. He said: Who has cast that? He the other one said: It was Labid Bin Asam who has done it. He said: What is the thing by which he transmitted its effect? He said: By the comb and by the hair stuck to the comb and the spathe of the date-palm. He said: Where is that? He replied: In the well of Dhi Arwan. She said: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent some of the persons from among his Companions there and then said: Aisha; by Allah; its water was yellow like henna and its trees were like heads of the devils. She said that she asked Allah Messenger ﷺ as to why he did not burn that. He said: No; Allah has cured me and I do not like that I should induce people to commit any high-handedness in regard to one another ; but I only commanded that it should be buried. The Chapter on Grooming The Women in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 17 in Sahih Muslim

SunanAlNasai-017-001-15039Umm Hakim bint Aasi d narrated from her mother that her husband died and she had a problem in her eye; so she applied kohl to clear her eyes. She sent a freed slave woman of hers to Umm Salamah to ask her about using kohl to clear her eyes. She said: Do not use kohl unless it cannot be avoided. The Messenger of Allah entered upon me when Abu Salamah died and I had put some aloe juice on my eyes. He said: What is this; O Umm Salamah? I said: It is aloe juice; O Messenger of Allah; there is no perfume in it. He said: It makes the face look bright; so only use it at night; and do not comb your hair with perfume or henna; for it is a dye. I said: With what can I comb it; O Messenger of Allah? He said: With lote leaves -cover your head with them. The Chapter on Grooming The Hair And Perfumes in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Concession Allowing A Woman In Mourning To Comb Her Hair With Lote Leaves in Sunan AlNasai

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25144Umm Hakim; daughter of Usayd; reported on the authority of her mother that her husband died and she was suffering from sore eyes. She therefore applied collyrium jala. Ahmad said: The correct version is glittering collyrium kuhl Aljala. She sent her slave-girl to Umm Salamah; and she asked her about the use of glittering collyrium kuhl Aljala. She said: Do not apply it except in the case of dire need which is troubling you. In that case you can use it at night; but you should remove it in the daytime. Then Umm Salamah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit me when Abu Salamah died; and I had put the juice of aloes in my eye. He asked : What is this; Umm Salamah? I replied: It is only the juice of aloes and contains no perfume. He said: It gives the face a glow; so apply it only at night and remove it in daytime; and do not comb yourself with scent or henna; for it is a dye. I asked: What should I use when I comb myself; Messenger of Allah? He said: Use lote-tree leaves and smear your head copiously with them. The Chapter on Grooming The Hair And Perfumes in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What Should A Woman Whose Husband Dies Avoid During Her Waiting Period in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29696Khabbab said We came to the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ while he was reclining on an outer garment in the shade of the Kabah. Complaining to him we said Do you not ask Allaah for help for us? And do you not pray to Allaah for us? He sat aright turning red in his face and said A man before you i.e.; in ancient times was caught and a pit was dug for him in the earth and then a saw was brought placed on his head and it was broken into two pieces but that did not turn him away from his religion. They were combed in iron combs in flesh and sinews above the bones. Even that did not turn them away from their religion. I swear by Allaah; Allaah will accomplish this affair until a rider will travel between Sana and Hadramaut and he will not fear anyone except Allaah; Most High nor will he fear the attack of a wolf on his sheep; but you are making haste. The Chapter on Garments And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding A Captive Being Compelled Into Disbelief in Sunan Abu Dawoud
