Deal In Sahih AlBukhari

Hadith PageArabic TextEnglish TranslationBook and Chapter
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1356Narrated Hudhaifa: Allah Messenger ﷺ related to us; two prophetic narrations one of which I have seen fulfilled and I am waiting for the fulfillment of the other. The Prophet ﷺ told us that the virtue of honesty descended in the roots of men hearts from Allah and then they learned it from the Quran and then they learned it from the Sunna the Prophet traditions. The Prophet ﷺ further told us how that honesty will be taken away: He said: Man will go to sleep during which honesty will be taken away from his heart and only its trace will remain in his heart like the trace of a dark spot; then man will go to sleep; during which honesty will decrease further still; so that its trace will resemble the trace of blister as when an ember is dropped on one foot which would make it swell; and one would see it swollen but there would be nothing inside. People would be carrying out their trade but hardly will there be a trustworthy person. It will be said; in such-and-such tribe there is an honest man; and later it will be said about some man; What a wise; polite and strong man he is! Though he will not have faith equal even to a mustard seed in his heart. No doubt; there came upon me a time when I did not mind dealing bargaining with anyone of you; for if he was a Muslim his Islam would compel him to pay me what is due to me; and if he was a Christian; the Muslim official would compel him to pay me what is due to me; but today I do not deal except with such-and-such person. The Chapter on Pulpit And Khutba And Preaching Morals in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on If a Muslim stays among the bad people in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2001Narrated Abu Rafi: The Prophet ﷺ said; The neighbor has more right to be taken care of by his neighbor than anyone else. Some men said; If one wants to buy a house for 20;000 Dirhams then there is no harm to play a trick to deprive somebody of preemption by buying it just on paper with 20;000 Dirhams but paying to the seller only 9;999 Dirhams in cash and then agree with the seller to pay only one Dinar in cash for the rest of the price i.e. 10;001 Dirhams. If the preemptor offers 20;000 Dirhams for the house; he can buy it otherwise he has no right to buy it by this trick he got out of preemption. If the house proves to belong to somebody else other than the seller; the buyer should take back from the seller what he has paid; i.e.; 9;999 Dirhams and one Dinar; because if the house proves to belong to somebody else; so the whole bargain deal is unlawful. If the buyer finds a defect in the house and it does not belong to somebody other than the seller; the buyer may return it and receive 20;000 Dirhams instead of 9999 Dirham plus one Dinar which he actually paid. Abu Abdullah said; So that man allows some people the playing of tricks amongst the Muslims although the Prophet ﷺ said; In dealing with Muslims one should not sell them sick animals or bad things or stolen things. The Chapter on Financial Transaction And Food in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Tricks by an official person to obtain presents in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2198Narrated Hudhaifa: Allah Messenger ﷺ narrated to us two narrations; one of which I have seen happening and I am waiting for the other. He narrated that honesty was preserved in the roots of the hearts of men in the beginning and then they learnt it honesty from the Quran; and then they learnt it from the Prophets Sunna tradition. He also told us about its disappearance; saying; A man will go to sleep whereupon honesty will be taken away from his heart; and only its trace will remain; resembling the traces of fire. He then will sleep whereupon the remainder of the honesty will also be taken away from his heart and its trace will resemble a blister which is raised over the surface of skin; when an ember touches one foot; and in fact; this blister does not contain anything. So there will come a day when people will deal in business with each other but there will hardly be any trustworthy persons among them. Then it will be said that in such-and-such a tribe there is such-and-such person who is honest; and a man will be admired for his intelligence; good manners and strength; though indeed he will not have belief equal to a mustard seed in his heart. The narrator added: There came upon me a time when I did not mind dealing with anyone of you; for if he was a Muslim; his religion would prevent him from cheating; and if he was a Christian; his Muslim ruler would prevent him from cheating; but today I cannot deal except with so-and-so and so-and-so. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2875Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Allah Messenger ﷺ forbade two ways of wearing clothes and two kinds of dealings. A He forbade the dealings of the Mulamasa and the Munabadha. In the Mulamasa transaction the buyer just touches the garment he wants to buy at night or by daytime; and that touch would oblige him to buy it. In the Munabadha; one man throws his garment at another and the latter throws his at the former and the barter is complete and valid without examining the two objects or being satisfied with them B The two ways of wearing clothes were Ishtimal AlSamma; i e.; to cover one shoulder with one garment and leave the other bare: and the other way was to wrap oneself with a garment while one was sitting in such a way that nothing of that garment would cover one private part. The Chapter on Garments Forbidden Dress in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Ishtimal AlSamma in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3456Narrated Urwa: that he asked Aisha about the Statement of Allah: If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls; then marry other women of your choice; two or three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with them ; then only one; or the captives that your right hands possess. That will be nearer to prevent you from doing injustice. 4.3 Aisha said; O my nephew! This Verse has been revealed in connection with an orphan girl under the guardianship of her guardian who is attracted by her wealth and beauty and intends to marry her with a Mahr less than what other women of her standard deserve. So they such guardians have been forbidden to marry them unless they do justice to them and give them their full Mahr; and they are ordered to marry other women instead of them. The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Orphans in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Awakening the desire for marriage in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3530Narrated Urwa Bin AlZubair: that he asked Aisha; saying to her; O Mother! In what connection was this Verse revealed : If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with orphan girls to the end of the verse that your right hands possess? 4.3 Aisha said; O my nephew! It was about the female orphan under the protection of her guardian who was interested in her beauty and wealth and wanted to marry her with a little or reduced Mahr. So such guardians were forbidden to marry female orphans unless they deal with them justly and give their full Mahr; and they were ordered to marry women other than them.Aisha added; Later the people asked Allah Messenger ﷺ ; for instructions; and then Allah revealed: They ask your instruction concerning the women... And yet whom you desire to marry. 4.127 So Allah revealed to them in this Verse that-if a female orphan had wealth and beauty; they desired to marry her and were interested in her noble descent and the reduction of her Mahr; but if she was not desired by them because of her lack in fortune and beauty they left her and married some other woman. So; as they used to leave her when they had no interest in her; they had no right to marry her if they had the desire to do so; unless they deal justly with her and gave her a full amount of Mahr. The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Orphans in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The giving of an orphan girl in marriage in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3986Narrated Urwa: That the Prophet ﷺ gave him one Dinar so as to buy a sheep for him. Urwa bought two sheep for him with the money. Then he sold one of the sheep for one Dinar; and brought one Dinar and a sheep to the Prophet. On that; the Prophet ﷺ invoked Allah to bless him in his deals. So Urwa used to gain from any deal even if he bought dust. In another narration Urwa said; I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; There is always goodness in horses till the Day of Resurrection. The subnarrator added; I saw 70 horses in Urwa house. Sufyan said; The Prophet ﷺ asked Urwa to buy a sheep for him as a sacrifice. The Chapter on Live Stock Sheep For Food in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Chapter in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4947Narrated Urwa Bin AlZubair: That he had asked Aisha about the meaning of the Statement of Allah: If you fear that you shall not Be able to deal justly With the orphan girls; then Marry Other women of your choice Two or three or four. 4.3 She said; O my nephew! This is about the orphan girl who lives with her guardian and shares his property. Her wealth and beauty may tempt him to marry her without giving her an adequate Mahr bridal-money which might have been given by another suitor. So; such guardians were forbidden to marry such orphan girls unless they treated them justly and gave them the most suitable Mahr; otherwise they were ordered to marry any other woman. Aisha further said; After that verse the people again asked the Prophet about the marriage with orphan girls ; so Allah revealed the following verses:- They ask your instruction Concerning the women. Say: Allah Instructs you about them And about what is Recited unto you In the Book; concerning The orphan girls to whom You give not the prescribed portions and yet whom you Desire to marry... 4.127 What is meant by Allah Saying:- And about what is Recited unto you is the former verse which goes:- If you fear that you shall not Be able to deal justly With the orphan girls; then Marry other women of your choice. 4.3 Aisha said; Allah saying in the other verse:-Yet whom you desire to marry 4.127 means the desire of the guardian to marry an orphan girl under his supervision when she has not much property or beauty in which case he should treat her justly. The guardians were forbidden to marry their orphan girls possessing property and beauty without being just to them; as they generally refrain from marrying them when they are neither beautiful nor wealthy. The Chapter on Contracts And Disputes And Orphans in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The partnership of orphans and inheritors in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5357Narrated Hakim Bin Hizam: The Prophet ﷺ aid; The buyer and the seller have the option to cancel or to confirm the deal; as long as they have not parted or till they part; and if they spoke the truth and told each other the defects of the things; then blessings would be in their deal; and if they hid something and told lies; the blessing of the deal would be lost. The Chapter on False Oaths And Pledges in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The loss of blessings if one tells lies or hides the facts in a deal in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-18113It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Masud who said: While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was saying his prayer near the Kaba and Abu Jahl with his companions was sitting near by ; Abu Jahl said; referring to the camel that had been slaughtered the previous day: Who will rise to fetch the foetus of the camel of so and so; and place it between the shoulders of Muhammad when he goes down in prostration a posture in prayer. The one most accursed among the people got up; brought the foetus and; when the Prophet ﷺ went down in prostration; placed it between his shoulders. Then they laughed at him and some of them leaned upon the others with laughter. And I stood looking. If I had the power; I would have thrown it away from the back of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ had bent down his head in prostration and did not raise it; until a man went to his house and informed his daughter Fatima; who was a young girl at that time about this ugly incident. She came and removed the filthy thing from him. Then she turned towards them rebuking them the mischief-mongers. When the Prophet ﷺ had finished his prayer; he invoked God imprecations upon them in a loud voice. When he prayed; he prayed thrice; and when he asked for God blessings; he asked thrice. Then he said thrice: O Allah; it is for Thee to deal with the Quraish. When they heard his voice; laughter vanished from them and they feared his malediction. Then he said: O God; it is for Thee to deal with Abu Jahl Bin Hisham; Utba Bin Rabia; Shaiba Bin Rabia. Walid Bin Uqba; Umaya Bin Khalaf; Uqba Bin Abu Muait and he mentioned the name of the seventh person. which I did not remember. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24907Ibn Shihab said Urwah Bin AlZubair asked Aisha ; wife of the Prophet ﷺ about the Quranic verse And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans; marry of the women; who seem good to you. She said O my nephew; this means the female orphan who is under the protection of her guardian and she holds a share in his property and her property and beauty attracts him; so her guardian intends to marry her without doing justice to her in respect of her dower and he gives her the same amount of dower as others give her. They i.e.; the guardians were prohibited to marry them except that they do justice to them and pay them their maximum customary dower and they were asked to marry women other than them i.e.; the orphans who seem good to them. Urwah reported that Aisha said The people then consulted the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ about women after revelation of this verse. Thereupon Allaah the Exalted sent down the verse They consult thee concerning women. Say Allaah giveth you decree concerning them and the scripture which hath been recited unto you giveth decree concerning female orphans unto whom you give not that which is ordained for them though you desire to marry them. She said The mention made by Allaah about the Scripture recited to them refers to the former verse in which Allaah has said And if ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by the orphans; marry of the women; who seem good to you. Aisha said The pronouncement of Allaah ; the Exalted in the latter verse though you desire to marry them means the disinterest of one of you in marrying a female orphan who was under his protection; but she said little property and beauty. So they were prohibited to marry them for their interest in the property and beauty of the female orphans due to their disinterest in themselves except that they do justice to them. If a man came to him with a claim against a man; he examined whether or not there were frequent transactions and dealings between them. If there were; the defendant could make an oath. If there was nothing of that nature he did not accept an oath from him. Malik summed up; What is done in our community is that if some one makes a claim against a man; it is examined. If there are frequent transactions and dealings between them; the defendant is made to take an oath. If he takes an oath; the claim against him is dropped. If the defendant refuses to take an oath; and returns the oath to the claimant; the one claiming his right takes an oath and takes his due.The Chapter on False Oaths And Pledges in HodHood Indexing, The Book of The Evil Eye in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35087Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that Muhammad Seereen used to say; Do not sell grain on the ears until it is white. Malik said; If someone buys food for a known price to be delivered at a stated date; and when the date comes; the one who owes the food says; I do not have any food; sell me the food which I owe you with delayed terms. The owner of the food says; This is not good; because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade selling food until the deal was completed. The one who owes the food says to his creditor; Sell me any kind of food on delayed terms until I discharge the debt to you. This is not good because he gives him food and then he returns it to him. The gold which he gave him becomes the price of that which is his right against him and the food which he gave him becomes what clears what is between them. If they do that; it becomes the sale of food before the deal is complete. Malik spoke about a man who was owed food which he had purchased from a man and this man was owed the like of that food by another man. The one who owed the food said to his creditor; I will refer you to my debtor who owes me the same amount of food as I owe you; so that you may obtain the food which I owe you. Malik said; If the man who had to deliver the food; had gone out; and bought the food to pay off his creditor; that is not good. That is selling food before taking possession of it. If the food is an advance which falls due at that particular time; there is no harm in paying off his creditor with it because that is nota sale. It is not halal to sell food before receiving it in full since the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; forbade that. However; the people of knowledge agree that there is no harm in partnership; transfer of responsibility and revocation in sales of food and other goods. Malik said; That is because the people of knowledge consider it as a favour rendered. They do not consider it as a sale. It is like a man lending light dirhams. He is then paid back in dirhams of full weight; and so gets back more than he lent. That is halal for him and permitted. Had a man bought defective dirhams from him as being the full weight; that would not be halal. Had it been stipulated to him that he lend full weight in dirhams; and then he gave faulty ones; that would not be halal for him.The Chapter on Financial Transaction And Food in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Drinks in Muwata Malik
