SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4432Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet Whenever Allah Messenger ﷺ intended to go on a journey; he would draw lots amongst his wives and would take with him the one upon whom the lot fell. During a Ghazwa of his; he drew lots amongst us and the lot fell upon me; and I proceeded with him after Allah had decreed the use of the veil by women. I was carried in a Howdah on the camel and dismounted while still in it. When Allah Messenger ﷺ was through with his Ghazwa and returned home; and we approached the city of Medina; Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered us to proceed at night. When the order of setting off was given; I walked till I was past the army to answer the call of nature. After finishing I returned to the camp to depart with the others and suddenly realized that my necklace over my chest was missing. So; I returned to look for it and was delayed because of that. The people who used to carry me on the camel; came to my Howdah and put it on the back of the camel; thinking that I was in it; as; at that time; women were light in weight; and thin and lean; and did not use to eat much. So; those people did not feel the difference in the heaviness of the Howdah while lifting it; and they put it over the camel. At that time I was a young lady. They set the camel moving and proceeded on. I found my necklace after the army had gone; and came to their camp to find nobody. So; I went to the place where I used to stay; thinking that they would discover my absence and come back in my search. While in that state; I felt sleepy and slept. Safwan Bin Muattal AlSulami AlDhakwani was behind the army and reached my abode in the morning. When he saw a sleeping person; he came to me; and he used to see me before veiling. So; I got up when I heard him saying; Inna lil-lah-wa inn a ilaihi rajiun We are for Allah; and we will return to Him. He made his camel knell down. He got down from his camel; and put his leg on the front legs of the camel and then I rode and sat over it. Safwan set out walking; leading the camel by the rope till we reached the army who had halted to take rest at midday. Then whoever was meant for destruction; fell into destruction; some people accused me falsely and the leader of the false accusers was Abdullah Bin Ubai Bin Salul. After that we returned to Medina; and I became ill for one month while the people were spreading the forged statements of the false accusers. I was feeling during my ailment as if I were not receiving the usual kindness from the Prophet ﷺ which I used to receive from him when I got sick. But he would come; greet and say; How is that girl ? I did not know anything of what was going on till I recovered from my ailment and went out with Um Mistah to the Manasi where we used to answer the call of nature; and we used not to go to answer the call of nature except from night to night and that was before we had lavatories near to our houses. And this habit of ours was similar to the habit of the old Arabs in the open country or away from houses. So. I and Um Mistah bint Ruhm went out walking. Um Mistah stumbled because of her long dress and on that she said; Let Mistah be ruined. I said; You are saying a bad word. Why are you abusing a man who took part in the battle of Badr? She said; O Hanata you there didnt you hear what they said? Then she told me the rumors of the false accusers. My sickness was aggravated; and when I returned home; Allah Messenger ﷺ came to me; and after greeting he said; How is that girl ? I requested him to allow me to go to my parents. I wanted then to be sure of the news through them I Allah Messenger ﷺ allowed me; and I went to my parents and asked my mother; What are the people talking about? She said; O my daughter! Dont worry much about this matter. By Allah; never is there a charming woman loved by her husband who has other wives; but the women would forge false news about her. I said; Glorified be Allah! Are the people really taking of this matter? That night I kept on weeping and could not sleep till morning. In the morning Allah Messenger ﷺ called Ali Bin Abu Talib and Usama Bin Zaid when he saw the Divine Inspiration delayed; to consul them about divorcing his wife i.e. Aisha. Usama Bin Zaid said what he knew of the good reputation of his wives and added; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Keep you wife; for; by Allah; we know nothing about her but good. Ali Bin Abu Talib said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Allah has no imposed restrictions on you; and there are many women other than she; yet you may ask the woman-servant who will tell you the truth. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ called Buraira and said; O Burair. Did you ever see anything which roused your suspicions about her? Buraira said; No; by Allah Who has sent you with the Truth; I have never seen in her anything faulty except that she is a girl of immature age; who sometimes sleeps and leaves the dough for the goats to eat. On that day Allah Messenger ﷺ ascended the pulpit and requested that somebody support him in punishing Abdullah Bin Ubai Bin Salul. Allah Apostle said; Who will support me to punish that person Abdullah Bin Ubai Bin Salul who has hurt me by slandering the reputation of my family? By Allah; I know nothing about my family but good; and they have accused a person about whom I know nothing except good; and he never entered my house except in my company. Saad Bin Muadh got up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! by Allah; I will relieve you from him. If that man is from the tribe of the Aus; then we will chop his head off; and if he is from our brothers; the Khazraj; then order us; and we will fulfill your order. On that Saad Bin Ubada; the chief of the Khazraj and before this incident; he had been a pious man; got up; motivated by his zeal for his tribe and said; By Allah; you have told a lie; you cannot kill him; and you will never be able to kill him. On that Usaid Bin AlHadir got up and said to Saad Bin Ubada ; By Allah! you are a liar. By Allah; we will kill him; and you are a hypocrite; defending the hypocrites. On this the two tribes of Aus and Khazraj got excited and were about to fight each other; while Allah Messenger ﷺ was standing on the pulpit. He got down and quieted them till they became silent and he kept quiet. On that day I kept on weeping so much so that neither did my tears stop; nor could I sleep. In the morning my parents were with me and I had wept for two nights and a day; till I thought my liver would burst from weeping. While they were sitting with me and I was weeping; an Ansari woman asked my permission to enter; and I allowed her to come in. She sat down and started weeping with me. While we were in this state; Allah Messenger ﷺ came and sat down and he had never sat with me since the day they forged the accusation. No revelation regarding my case came to him for a month. He recited Tashah-hud i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is His Apostle and then said; O Aisha! I have been informed such-and-such about you; if you are innocent; then Allah will soon reveal your innocence; and if you have committed a sin; then repent to Allah and ask Him to forgive you; for when a person confesses his sin and asks Allah for forgiveness; Allah accepts his repentance. When Allah Messenger ﷺ finished his speech my tears ceased completely and there remained not even a single drop of it. I requested my father to reply to Allah Messenger ﷺ on my behalf. My father said; By Allah; I do not know what to say to Allah Messenger ﷺ. I said to my mother; Talk to Allah Messenger ﷺ on my behalf. She said; By Allah; I do not know what to say to Allah Apostle. I was a young girl and did not have much knowledge of the Quran. I said. I know; by Allah; that you have listened to what people are saying and that has been planted in your minds and you have taken it as a truth. Now; if I told you that I am innocent and Allah knows that I am innocent; you would not believe me and if I confessed to you falsely that I am guilty; and Allah knows that I am innocent you would believe me. By Allah; I dont compare my situation with you except to the situation of Joseph father i.e. Jacob who said; So for me patience is most fitting against that which you assert and it is Allah Alone whose help can be sought. Then I turned to the other side of my bed hoping that Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah I never thought that Allah would reveal Divine Inspiration in my case; as I considered myself too inferior to be talked of in the Holy Quran. I had hoped that Allah Messenger ﷺ might have a dream in which Allah would prove my innocence. By Allah; Allah Apostle had not got up and nobody had left the house before the Divine Inspiration came to Allah Apostle. So; there overtook him the same state which used to overtake him; when he used to have; on being inspired divinely. He was sweating so much so that the drops of the sweat were dropping like pearls though it was a cold wintry day. When that state of Allah Messenger ﷺ was over; he was smiling and the first word he said; Aisha! Thank Allah; for Allah has declared your innocence. My mother told me to go to Allah Messenger ﷺ. I replied; By Allah I will not go to him and will not thank but Allah. So Allah revealed: Verily! They who spread the slander are a gang among you... 24.11 When Allah gave the declaration of my Innocence; Abu Bakr; who used to provide for Mistah Bin Uthatha for he was his relative; said; By Allah; I will never provide Mistah with anything because of what he said about Aisha. But Allah later revealed: - And let not those who are good and wealthy among you swear not to help their kinsmen; those in need and those who left their homes in Allah Cause. Let them forgive and overlook. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? Verily! Allah is Oft-forgiving; Most Merciful. 24.22 After that Abu Bakr said; Yes ! By Allah! I like that Allah should forgive me; and resumed helping Mistah whom he used to help before. Allah Messenger ﷺ also asked Zainab bint Jahsh i.e. the Prophet wife about me saying; What do you know and what did you see? She replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I refrain to claim hearing or seeing what I have not heard or seen. By Allah; I know nothing except goodness about Aisha. Aisha further added Zainab was competing with me in her beauty and the Prophet love ; yet Allah protected her from being malicious ; for she had piety. The Chapter on Parents Slander And Innocence in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The women attesting each other in Sahih AlBukhari

He the narrator said that he went back not far; then came and said: Allah Messenger; purify me. whereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Woe be upon you; go back and ask forgiveness of Allah and turn to Him in repentance. He the narrator said that he went back not far; when he came and said: Allah Messenger; purify me. Allah Apostle ﷺ said as he had said before. When it was the fourth time; Allah Messenger may; ﷺ said: From what am I to purify you? He said: From adultery; Allah Messenger ﷺ asked if he had been mad. He was informed that he was not mad. He said: Has he drunk wine? A person stood up and smelt his breath but noticed no smell of wine. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Have you committed adultery? He said: Yes. He made pronouncement about him and he was stoned to death. The people had been divided into two groups about him Maiz. One of them said: He has been undone for his sins had encompassed him; whereas another said: There is no repentance more excellent than the repentance of Maiz; for he came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and placing his hand in his in the Holy Prophets hand said: Kill me with stones. This controversy about Maiz remained for two or three days. Then came Allah Messenger ﷺ to them his Companions as they were sitting. He greeted them with salutation and then sat down and said: Ask forgiveness for Maiz Bin Malik. They said: May Allah forgive Maiz Bin Malik. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He Maiz has made such a repentance that if that were to be divided among a people; it would have been enough for all of them. He the narrator said: Then a woman of Ghamid; a branch of Azd; came to him and said: Messenger of of Allah; purify me; whereupon he said: Woe be upon you; go back and beg forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance. She said: I find that you intend to send me back as you sent back Maiz. Bin Malik. He the Holy; Prophet said: What has happened to you? She said that she had become pregnant as a result of fornication. He the Holy Prophet said: Is it you who has done that ? She said: Yes. He the Holy Prophet said to her: You will not be punished until you deliver what is there in your womb. One of the Ansar became responsible for her until she was delivered of the child. He that Ansari came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said the woman of Ghamid has given birth to a child. He the Holy Prophet said: In that case we shall not stone her and so leave her infant with none to suckle him. One of the Ansar got up and said: Allah Apostle; let the responsibility of his suckling be upon me. SahihMuslim-017-001-18611It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas that some persons amongst the polytheist had committed a large number of murders and had excessively indulged in fornication. Then they came to Muhammad ﷺ and said: Whatever you assert and whatever you call to is indeed good. But if you inform us that there is atonement of our past deeds then we would embrace Islam. Then it was revealed: And those who call not unto another god along with Allah and slay not any soul which Allah has forbidden except in the cause of justice; nor commit fornication; and he who does this shall meet the requital of sin. Multiplied for him shall be the torment on the Day of Resurrection; and he shall therein abide disgraced; except him who repents a believes and does good deeds. Then these! for the Allah shall change their vices into virtues. Verily Allah is Ever Forgiving; Merciful xxv. 68-70. SahihMuslim-017-001-18618It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that when it was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and whether you disclose that which is in your mind or conceal it; Allah will call you to account according to it. Then He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He Pleases; and Allah is over everything Potent ii. 284. the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ felt it hard and severe and they came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sat down on their knees and said: Messenger of Allah; we were assigned some duties which were within our power to perform; such as prayer; fasting; struggling in the cause of Allah ; charity. Then this the above-mentioned verse was revealed unto you and it is beyond our power to live up to it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you intend to say what the people of two books Jews and Christians said before you: We hear and disobey? You should rather say: We hear and we obey; we seek Thy forgiveness; our Lord! and unto Thee is the return. And they said: We hear and we obey; we seek Thy forgiveness; Our Lord! and unto Thee is the return. When the people recited it and it smoothly flowed on their tongues; then Allah revealed immediately afterwards: The Apostle believes in that which is sent down unto him from his Lord; and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah and His Angels and His Books and His Apostles; saying: We differentiate not between any of His Apostles and they say: We hearken and we obey: we seek Thy forgiveness; our Lord! and unto Thee is the return ii. 285. When they did that; Allah abrogated this verse and the Great; Majestic Allah revealed: Allah burdens not a soul beyond its capacity. It gets every good that it earns and it suffers every ill that it earns. Our Lord; punish us not if we forget or make a mistake. The Prophet said: Yes; our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us. The Prophet said: Yes; our Lord; impose not on us burdens which we have not the strength to bear The Prophet said: Yes; and pardon us and grant us protection! and have mercy on us. Thou art our Patron; so grant us victory over the disbelieving people ii. 286. Abu Mousa said: He the Holy Prophet sent me along with Abu Amir and Abu Amir received a wound in his knee from the arrow; shot by a person of Bani Jusham. It stuck in his knee. I went to him and said: Uncle; who shot an arrow upon you? Abu Amir pointed out to Abu Mousa and said: Verily that one who shot an arrow upon me in fact killed me. Abu Mousa said: I followed him with the determination to kill him and overtook him and when he saw me he turned upon his heels. I followed him and I said to him: Dont you feel ashamed that you run ; arent you an Arab? Why dont you stop? He stopped and I had an encounter with him and we exchanged the strokes of swords. I struck him with the sword and killed him. Then I came back to Abu Amir and said: Verily Allah has killed the one who killed you. And he said: Now draw out this arrow. I drew out the arrow and there came out from that wound water. Abu Amir said: My nephew; go to Allah Messenger ﷺ and convey my greetings to him and tell him that Abu Amir begs you to ask forgiveness for him. And Abu Amir appointed me as the chief of the people and he died after a short time. When I came to Allah Apostle ﷺ I visited him and he had been lying on the cot woven by strings and there was no bed over it and so there had been marks of the strings on the back of Allah Messenger ﷺ and on his sides. I narrated to him what had happened to us and narrated to him about Abu Amir and said to him that he had made a request to the effect that forgiveness should be sought for him from Allah. Thereupon Allah Messenger may peace be. upon him called for water and performed ablution with it. He then lifted his hands and said. O Allah; grant pardon to Thy servant Abu Amir. He again said: O Allah; grant him distinction amongst the majority of Thine created beings or from amongst the people. I said: Allah Messenger; ask forgiveness for me too. He continued finding him out until he met Uwais. He said: Are you Uwais b.; Amir? He said: Yes. He said: Are you from the tribe of Qaran? He said: Yes. He Hadrat Umar again said: Did you suffer from leprosy and then you were cured from it but for the space of a dirham? He said: Yes. He Umar said: Is your mother living ? He said: Yes. He Umar said: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ say: There would come to you Uwais Bin Amir with the reinforcement from the people of Yemen. He would be from Qaran; the branch of Murid. He had been suffering from leprosy from which he was cured but for a spot of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been excellent. If he were to take an oath in the name of Allah; He would honour that. And if it is possible for you; then do ask him to beg forgiveness for you from your Lord. Verily my prayer; my sacrifice; my living and my dying are for Allah; the Lord of the worlds; There is no partner with Him and this is what I have been commanded to profess and believe and I am of the believers. O Allah; Thou art the King; there is no god but Thee; Thou art my Lord; and I am Thy bondman. I wronged myself and make a confession of my Sin. Forgive all my sins; for no one forgives the sins but Thee; and guide me in the best of conduct for none but Thee guideth anyone in good conduct. Remove sins from me; for none else but Thou can remove sins from me. Here I am at Thy service; and Grace is to Thee and the whole of good is in Thine hand; and one cannot get nearneststo Thee through evil. My power as well as existence is due to Thee Thine grace and I turn to Thee for supplication. Thou art blessed and Thou art exalted. I seek forgiveness from Thee and turn to Thee in repentance: and when he would bow; he would say: O Allah; it is for Thee that I bowed. I affirm my faith in Thee and I submit to Thee; and submit humbly before Thee my hearing; my eyesight; my marrow; my bone; my sinew; and when he would raise his head; he would say: O Allah; our Lord; praise is due to Thee; the praise with which is filled the heavens and the earth; and with which is filled that space which exists between them; and filled with anything that Thou desireth afterward. And when he prostrated himself; he the Holy Prophet would say: O Allah; it is to Thee that I prostrate myself and it is in Thee that I affirm my faith; and I submit to Thee. My face is submitted before One Who created it; and shaped it; and opened his faculties of hearing and seeing. Blessed is Allah; the best of Creators; and he would then say between Tashahhud and the pronouncing of salutation: Forgive me of the earlier and later open and secret sins and that where I made transgression and that Thou knowest better than I. When we had finished the prayer; we all went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said to him: This man recited in a style to which I objected; and the other entered and recited in a style different from that of his companion. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked them to recite and so they recited; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ expressed approval of their affairs their modes of recitation. and there occurred In my mind a sort of denial which did not occur even during the Days of Ignorance. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw how I was affected by a wrong idea ; he struck my chest; whereupon I broke into sweating and felt as though I were looking at Allah with fear. He the Holy Prophet said to me: Ubay. a message was sent to me to recite the Quran in one dialect; and I replied: Make things easy for my people. It was conveyed to me for the second time that it should be recited in two dialects. I again replied to him: Make affairs easy for my people. It was again conveyed to me for the third time to recite in seven dialects And I was further told : You have got a seeking for every reply that I sent you; which you should seek from Me. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25720Narrated Ziyad Ibn Saad Ibn Dumayrah AlSulami: On the authority of his father Sad and his grandfather Dumayrah according to Mousa version who were present in the battle of Hunayn with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : After the advent of Islam; Muhallam Ibn Jaththamah AlLaythi killed a man of Ashja. That was the first blood-money decided by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for payment. Uyaynah spoke about the killing of AlAshjai; for he belonged to Ghatafan; and AlAqra Ibn Habis spoke on behalf of Muhallam; for he belonged to Khunduf. The voices rose high; and the dispute and noise grew. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you not accept blood-money; Uyaynah? Uyaynah then said: No; I swear by Allah; until I cause his women to suffer the same fighting and grief as he caused my women to suffer. Again the voices rose high; and the dispute and noise grew. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do you not accept the blood-money Uyaynah? Uyaynah gave the same reply as before; and a man of Banu Layth called Mukaytil stood up. He had a weapon and a skin shield in his hand. He said: I do not find in the beginning of Islam any illustration for what he has done except the one that some sheep came on; and those in the front were shot; hence those in the rear ran away. The other example is that make a law today and change it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Fifty camels here immediately and fifty when we return to Medina. This happened during some of his journeys. Muhallam was a tall man of dark complexion. He was with the people. They continued to make effort for him until he was released. He sat before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; with his eyes flowing. He said: Messenger of Allah! I have done the act of which you have been informed. I repent to Allah; the Exalted; so ask Allah forgiveness for me. Messenger of Allah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Did you kill him with your weapon at the beginning of Islam. O Allah! do not forgive Muhallam. He said these words loudly. Abu Salamah added: He Muhallam then got up while he was wiping his tears with the end of his garment. Ibn Ishaq said: His people alleged that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked forgiveness for him after that.Abu Dawud said: AlNadr Bin Shumail said: Alghiyar means blood-wit.The Chapter on Whipping Punshiment In Crimes And Felonies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Imam Enjoining A Pardon In The Case Of Bloodshed in Sunan Abu Dawoud

The Prophet ﷺ said to him: No; I ask Allah forgiveness; no; I ask Allah forgiveness; no; I ask Allah forgiveness. My prayer and my devotion; my life and my death belong to Allah; the Lord of the Universe; Who has no partner. That is what I have been commanded; and I am first of Muslims those who surrender themselves. O Allah; Thou art the King. There is no God but Thee. Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant. I have wronged myself; but I acknowledge my sin; so forgive me all my sins; Thou Who alone canst forgive sins; and guide me to the best qualities. Thou Who alone canst guide to the best of them; and turn me from evil ones. Thou who alone canst turn from evil qualities. I come to serve and please Thee. All good is in Thy Hands; and evil does not pertain to Thee. I seek refuge in Thee and turn to Thee; Who art blessed and exalted. I ask Thy forgiveness and turn to thee in repentance. When he bowed; he said: O Allah; to Thee I bow; in Thee I trust; and to Thee I submit myself. My hearing; my sight; my brain; my bone and my sinews humble themselves before Thee. When he raised his head; he said: Allah listens to him who praises Him. O our lord; and all praises be to Thee in the whole of the heavens and the earth; and what is between them; and in whatever Thou creates afterwards. When he prostrated himself; he said: O Allah; to Thee I prostrate myself; to Thee I trust; and to Thee I submit myself. My face prostrated itself before Him Who created it; fashioned it; and fashioned it in the best shape; and brought forth its hearing and seeing. Blessed is Allah; the best of creators. When he saluted at the end of the prayer; he said: O Allah; forgive me my former and my latter sins; my open and secret sins; my sins in exceeding the limits; and what Thou knowest better than I. Thou art He Who puts forward and puts back. There is deity but Thee. The Chapter on Allah Characteristics And Affirming Faith in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Supplication With Which The Prayer Should Be Started in Sunan Abu Dawoud
