Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. | |

Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind: That they may celebrate His praise. |

| SahihAlBukhari-017-001-024 | Narrated Kuraib: I was sent to Aisha by Ibn Abbas; AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Abdulrahman Bin Azhar. They told me to greet her on their behalf and to ask her about the offering of the two rakat after the Asr prayer and to say to her; We were informed that you offer those two rakat and we were told that the Prophet had forbidden offering them. Ibn Abbas said; I along with Umar Bin AlKhattab used to beat the people whenever they offered them. I went to Aisha and told her that message. Aisha said; Go and ask Umm Salamah about them. So I returned and informed them about her statement. They then told me to go to Umm Salamah with the same question with which t sent me to Aisha. Umm Salamah replied; I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbidding them. Later I saw him offering them immediately after he prayed the Asr prayer. He then entered my house at a time when some of the Ansari women from the tribe of Bani Haram were sitting with me; so I sent my slave girl to him having said to her; Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah says to you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have heard you forbidding the offering of these two rakat after the Asr prayer but I have seen you offering them. If he waves his hand then wait for him. The slave girl did that. The Prophet ﷺ beckoned her with his hand and she waited for him. When he had finished the prayer he said; O daughter of Bani Umaiya! You have asked me about the two rakat after the Asr prayer. The people of the tribe of Abd AlQais came to me and made me busy and I could not offer the two rakat after the Zuhr prayer. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1498 | Narrated Aisha: After the slanderers had given a forged statement against her; Allah Messenger ﷺ called Ali Bin Abi Talib and Usama Bin Zaid when the Divine Inspiration was delayed. He wanted to ask them and consult them about the question of divorcing me. Usama gave his evidence that was based on what he knew about my innocence; but Ali said; Allah has not put restrictions on you and there are many women other than her. | SahihMuslim-017-001-18036 | It has been narrated on the authority of Salama Bin AlAkwa who said: We fought against the Fazara; and Abu Bakr was the commander over us. He had been appointed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we were only at an hour distance from the water of the enemy; Abu Bakr ordered us to attack. We made a halt during the last part of the night to rest and then we attacked from all sides and reached their watering-place where a battle was fought. Some of the enemies were killed and some were taken prisoners. I saw a group of persons that consisted of women and children. I was afraid lest they should reach the mountain before me; so I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow; they stopped. So I brought them; driving them along. Among them was a woman from Banu Fazara. She was wearing a leather coat. With her was her daughter who was one of the prettiest girls in Arabia. I drove them along until I brought them to Abu Bakr who bestowed that girl upon me as a prize. So we arrived in Medina. I had not yet disrobed her when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me in the street and said: Give me that girl; O Salama. I said: Messenger of Allah; she has fascinated me. I had not yet disrobed her. When on the next day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ again met me in the street; he said: O Salama; give me that girl; may God bless your father. I said: She is for you; Messenger of Allah! By Allah. | SahihMuslim-017-001-21662 | Anas Allah be pleased with him reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ set out on an expedition to Khaibar and we observed our morning prayer in early hours of the dawn. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then mounted and so did Abu Talha ride; and I was seating myself behind Abu Talha. Allah Apostle ﷺ moved in the narrow street of Khaibar and we rode so close to each other in the street that my knee touched the leg of Allah Apostle ﷺ. A part of the lower garment of Allah Apostle ﷺ slipped from his leg and I could see the whiteness of the leg of Allah Apostle ﷺ. As he entered the habitation he called: Allahu Akbar Allah is the Greatest. Khaibar is ruined. And when we get down in the valley of a people evil is the morning of the warned ones. He repeated it thrice. In the meanwhile the people went out for their work; and said: By Allah; Muhammad has come. Abd AlAziz or some of our companions said: Muhammad and the army have come. He said: We took it the territory of Khaibar by force; and there were gathered the prisoners of war. There came Dihya and he said: Messenger of Allah; bestow upon me a girl from among the prisoners. He said: Go and get any girl. He made a choice for Safiya daughter of Huyay Bin Akhtab. There came a person to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Apostle of Allah; you have bestowed Safiya bint Huyay; the chief of Quraidha and AlNadir; upon Dihya and she is worthy of you only. There was a man among those who came before you who was a devoted worshipper. An immoral woman fell in love with him. She sent her slave girl to him; saying: We are calling you to bear witness. So he set out with her slave girl; and every time he entered a door; she locked it behind him; until he reached a beautiful woman who has with her a boy and a vessel of wine. She said: By Allah; I did not call you to bear witness; rather I called you to have intercourse with me; or to drink a cup of this wine; or to kill this boy. He said: Pour me a cup of this wine. So she poured him a cup. He said: Give me more. And soon he had intercourse with her and killed the boy. | SunanAlNasai-017-001-14551 | Urwah Bin AlZubair narrated that he asked Aisha about the saying of Allah; the Mighty and Sublime: And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls then marry other women of your choice. She said: O son of my sister; this refers to a female orphan who is in the care of her guardian; and her wealth is joined to his; and he is attracted to her wealth and her beauty. So her guardian wants to marry her without being fair with regard to her dowry; and without giving her what someone else would give her. So they were forbidden to marry them unless they were fair to them and gave them the highest possible dowry that is customarily given; and they were commanded to marry other women of their choice. Urwah said: Aisha said: Then later on; Allah; the Mighty and Sublime; revealed concerning them: They ask your legal instruction concerning women; say: Allah instructs you about them; and about what is recited unto you in the Book concerning the orphan girls whom you give not the prescribed portions and yet whom you desire to marry. | SunanAlNasai-017-001-14585 | It was narrated from Anas: The Messenger of Allah invaded Khaibar and we prayed AlGhadah Fajr there early in the morning when it was still dark. Then the Prophet rode and Abu Talha rode; and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet of Allah passed through the lane of Khaibar quickly; and my knee was touching the thigh of the Messenger of Allah; and I could see the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet. When he entered the town he said: Allahu Akbar; Khaibar is destroyed! Whenever we approach a hostile nation to fight; evil will be the morning for those who have been warned. He said this three times. The people came out for their work. One of the narrators Abd AlAziz said: They said: Muhammad has come ! Abd AlAziz said: Some of our companions said: With his army. We conquered Khaibar and gathered the captives. Dihyah came and said: O Prophet of Allah; give me a slave girl from among the captives. He said: Go and take a slave girl. He took Safiyah bint Huyay. He said: Call him to bring her. When the Prophet saw her; he said: Take any other slave girl from among the captives. He said: The Prophet of Allah set her free and married her. He said: While on the road; Umm Sulaim fitted her out and presented her to him in the night; and the following morning he was a bridegroom. He said: Whoever has anything; let him bring it. They said: Convey our regards to her from all of us and ask her about the two rakahs after the Asr prayer; and tell her that we have been informed that she prays them; and we are told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited them. I entered upon her and told her that for which they had sent me to her. She said: Ask Umm Salamah. I returned to them Ibn Abbas and others and informed them about her opinion. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with the same mission for which they had sent me to Aishah. Umm Salamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting them; but later on I saw him praying them. When he prayed them; he had offered the Asr prayer. He then came to me while a number of women from Banu Haram from the Ansar were sitting with me. He prayed these two rakahs. I sent a slave girl to him and I told her: Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah has asked: Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I heard you prohibiting these two rakahs after the afternoon prayer but I see you praying them yourself. If he makes a sign with his hand; step backward from him. The slave girl did so. When he finished prayer; he said: O daughter of Abu Umayah; you asked about the praying of two rakahs after the Asr prayer; in fact; some people of Abd AlQais has come to me with the news that their people had embraced Islam. | MuwataMalik-017-001-35365 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Rafi Ibn Khadij married the daughter of Muhammad Ibn Maslama AlAnsari. She was with him until she grew older; and then he married a young girl and preferred the young girl to her. She begged him to divorce her; so he divorced her and then he gave her time until she had almost finished her idda period and then he returned and still preferred the young girl. She therefore asked him to divorce her. He divorced her once; and then returned to her; and still preferred the young girl; and she asked him to divorce her. He said; What do you want? There is only one divorce left. If you like; continue and put up with what you see of preference; and if you like; I will separate from you. She said; I will continue in spite of the preference. He kept her in spite of that.
