SahihAlBukhari-017-001-022Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; When the call for prayer is made; Satan takes to his heels passing wind so that he may not hear the Adhan and when the call is finished he comes back; and when the Iqama is pronounced; Satan again takes to his heels; and when the Iqama is finished he comes back again and tries to interfere with the person and his thoughts and say; Remember this and that which he has not thought of before the prayer ; till the praying person forgets how much he has prayed. If anyone of you does not remember whether he has offered three or four rakat then he should perform two prostrations of Sahu while sitting. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama At Dawn in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on When a person forgets whether he has offered three or four Raka in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihMuslim-017-001-24353Abu Qatada reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When the Iqama is pronounced do not get up till you see me Ibn Hatim was in doubt whether it was said: When the Iqama is pronounced or When call is made. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama At Fajir in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 29 in Sahih Muslim

SahihMuslim-017-001-24378Sulaiman Bin Buraida narrated it on the authority of his father that a person asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the time of prayer. Upon this he said: Pray with us these two; meaning two days. When the sun passed the meridian; he gave command to Bilal who uttered the call to prayer. Then he commanded him and pronounced Iqama for noon prayer Then at the time of the afternoon prayer he again commanded and Iqama for the afternoon prayer was pronounced when the sun was high; white and clear. He then commanded and Iqama for the evening prayer was pronounced; when the sun had set. He then commanded him and the Iqama for the night prayer was pronounced when the twilight had disappeared. He then commanded him and the Iqama for the morning prayer was pronounced; when the dawn had appeared. When it was the next day; he commanded him to delay the noon prayer till the extreme heat had passed and he did so; and he allowed it to be delayed till the extreme heat had passed. He observed the afternoon prayer when the sun was high; delaying it beyond the time he had previously observed it. He observed the evening prayer before the twilight had vanished; he observed the night prayer when a third of the night had passed; and he observed the dawn prayer when there was clear daylight. He the Holy Prophet then said: Where is the man who inquired about the time of prayer? He the inquirer said: Messenger of Allah; here I am. He the Holy Prophet said: The time for your prayer is within the limits of what you have seen. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And The Sun in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 31 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-24380Abu Mousa narrated on the authority of his father that a person came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for inquiring about the times of prayers. He the Holy Prophet gave him no reply because he wanted to explain to him the times by practically observing these prayers. He then said the morning player when it was daybreak; but the people could hardly recognise one another. He then commanded and the Iqama for the noon prayer was pronounced when the tan had passed the meridian and one would say that it was midday but he the Holy Prophet knew batter than them. He then again commanded and the Iqama for the afternoon prayer was pronounced when the sun was high. He then commanded and Iqama for the evening prayer was pronounced when the sun had sunk. He then commanded and Iqama for the night prayer was pronounced when the twilight had disappeared. He then delayed the morning prayer on the next day so much so that after returning from it one would say that the sun had risen or it was about to rise. He then delayed the noon prayer till it was near the time of afternoon prayer as it was observed yesterday. He then delayed the afternoon prayer till one after returning from it would say that the sun had become red. He then delayed the evening prayer till the twilight was about to disappear. He then delayed the night prayer till it was one-third of the night. He then called the inquirer in the morning and said: The time for prayers is between these two extremes. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And The Sun in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 31 in Sahih Muslim

MuwataMalik-017-001-35940Yahya related to me from Malik from Mousa Ibn Uqba that Kurayb; the mawla of Ibn Abbas; heard Usama Ibn Zayd say; The Messenger ofAllah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; left Arafa and then; when he reached AlShib; he dismounted and urinated and then did Ablution; though not thoroughly. I said to him; It is time for the prayer; Messenger of Allah; and he said The prayer is ahead of you; and then mounted. When we arrived at Muzdalifa he dismounted and did Ablution thoroughly. Then the iqama was said for the prayer and he prayed maghrib. After that everyone settled his camel in its resting-place; and then the iqama for isha was said and he prayed it; without having prayed anything between the two.The Chapter on Prayers And Supplication in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36007Yahya related to me from Malik from Abuz-Zinad from AlAraj from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; When the call to prayer is made Shaytan retreats; passing wind; so that he will not hear the adhan. When the adhan is completed he comes back; until; when the iqama is said; he retreats again. When the iqama is completed; he comes back; until he comes between a man and his self and says; Think of such and such; think of such and such; which he was not thinking about before; until the man does not know how much he has prayed. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama At Dawn in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36008Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Hazim Ibn Dinar that Sahl Ibn Sad AlSaidi said; There are two times when the gates of heaven are opened; and few who make supplication have it returned to them unanswered. They are at the timeof the adhan; and in a rank of people fighting in the way of Allah. Malik was asked whether the adhan on the day of jumua was called before the time had come for the prayer and he said; It is not called until after the sun has passed the meridian. Malik was asked about doubling the adhan and the iqama; and at what point people had to stand when the iqama for the prayer was called. He said; I have heard nothing about the adhan and iqama except what I have seen people do. As for the iqama; it is not doubled. That is what the people of knowledge in our region continue to do. As for people standing up when the iqama for the prayer is called; I have not heard of any definite point at which it is begun; and I consider it rather to be according to people individual capacity; for some people are heavy and some are light; and they are not able to be as one man. Malik was asked about a gathering of people who wished to do the prescribed prayer calling the iqama and not the adhan; and he said; lt is enough for them. The adhan is only obligatory in Masjids where the prayer is said in congregation. Malik was asked about the muadhdhin saying Peace be upon you to the imam and calling him to the prayer; and he was asked who was the first person to whom such a greeting was made. He replied; I have not heard that this greeting occurred in the first community. Yahya said that Malik was asked whether a muadhdhin who called the people to prayer and then waited to see if anyone would come and no one did; so he said the iqama and did the prayer by himself and then people came after he had finished; should repeat the prayer with them. Malik said; He does not repeat the prayer; and whoever comes after he has finished should do the prayer by himself. Yahya said that Malik was asked about a muadhdhin who called the adhan for a group of people; did voluntary prayers; and then the group of people wanted to do the prayer with some one else saying the iqama. He said; There is no harm in that. His iqama or somebody else are the same. Yahya said that Malik said; The subh prayer is still called before dawn. As for the other prayers; we believe that they should only be called after the time has started. The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And Forgiveness in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36013Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that on a journey Abdullah Ibn Umar did no more than the iqama; except for subh; when he called both the adhan and the iqama. Abdullah Ibn Umar used to say; The adhan is for an imam whom people join. The Chapter on Almaghazi And Returning Property in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36014Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said to him; When you are on a journey you can; if you wish; call the adhan and the iqama; or; if you wish; the iqama and not the adhan. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; There is no harm in a man calling the adhan while riding. The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36015Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that Said Ibn AlMusayab used to say; Whoever prays on waterless; desolate land - an angel prays on his right and an angel prays on his left. When he calls both the adhan and the iqama for the prayer; or calls out the iqama; angels like mountains pray behind him.The Chapter on Adhan And Iqama And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
