He the Prophet said: Not to speak of beverages; I would lay stress that you should not drink in the wine jars. They said: Apostle of Allah; may God enable us to lay down our lives for you; do you know what Alnaqir is? He the Holy Prophet replied: Yes; it is a stump which you hollow out in the middle; and added: Do not use gourd or receptacle for drink. He the reporter said: Allah instilled faith in their hearts and He revealed this verse: Allah burdens not a soul beyond its capacity. Then a desert Arab came there rushingly as if someone had been pursuing him. He the Holy Prophet caught his hand; and then Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Satan considers that food lawful on which Allah name is not mentioned. He had brought this girl so that the food might be made lawful for him and I caught her hand. And he had brought a desert Arab so that the food might be lawful for him. So I caught his hand. She Barira made a mention of that to her family; but they refused except on the condition that the right of inheritance would vest in them. She came to me and made mention of if She Aisha said: I scolded her. She Barira said: By Allah; it is not possible they will never agree to it. And as she was saying it; Allah messenger ﷺ heard; and he asked me; I informed him and he said: Buy her and emancipate her; and let the right of inherit- ance vest in them; for they cannot claim it rightfully since the right of inherritance vests with one who emancipates the slave; therefore; these people have no right to lay such false claims. And I did so. She Aisha said: Then Allah Messenger ﷺ delivered a sermon in the evening. He extolled Allah and praised Him with what He deserves; and then said afterwards;: What has happened to the people that they lay down conditions which are not found in the Book of Allah? And the condition which is not found in the Book of Allah is invalid; even if its number is one hundred. The Book of Allah is more true than any other deed and the condition laid down by Allah is more binding than any other condition. What has happened to the people among you that someone among you says: Emancipate so and so; but the right of inheritance vests in me? He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly; and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head; put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper; and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times; and then returned and I also returned. He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came to the house and I also came to the house. I; however; preceded him and I entered the house ; and as I lay down in the bed; he the Holy Prophet entered the house ; and said: Why is it; O Aisha; that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah; may my father and mother be ransom for you; and then I told him the whole story. He said: Was it the darkness of your shadow that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He gave me a nudge on the chest which I felt; and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal; Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call; but I too concealed it from you for he did not come to you ; as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep; and I did not like to awaken you; fearing that you may be frightened. He Gabriel said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi to those lying in the graves and beg pardon for them. Then he stood and prayed until I said: He has prayed for as long as he has slept. Then he lay down until I said: He has slept as long as he prayed. Then he woke up and did the same as he had done the first time and said the same as he had said. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did that three times before Fajr. | The Chapter on Prayers And Mercy And Sleeping in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on With what should prayer at night begin in Sunan AlNasai | |
SunanAlNasai-017-001-15600 | It was narrated that Saad Bin Hisham Bin Amir said: I came to AlMadinah and entered upon Aisha; may Allah SWT be pleased with her. She said: Who are you? I said: I am Saad Bin Hisham Bin Amir. She said: May Allah have mercy on your father. I said: Tell me about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did such and such. I said: Yes indeed. She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Isha at night; then he would go to his bed and sleep. In the middle of the night; he would get up to relieve himself and go to his water for purification and perform Ablution. Then he went into the Masjid and prayed eight rakahs. I think he made the recitation; bowing and prostration equal in length. Then he prayed one rakah of witr; then he prayed two rakahs sitting down. Then he lay down on his side. Sometimes Bilal would come and tell him that it was time to pray before he napped; and sometimes he napped. And sometimes I was not sure if he had napped or not before he told him that it was time to pray. This is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray until he grew older and gained weight- and she mentioned whatever Allah SWT willed about his gaining weight. She said: And the Prophet ﷺ used to lead the people in praying witr; then he would go to his bed. In the middle of the night; he would get up and go to water for purification; and to relieve himself; then he would perform Ablution. Then he would go into the masjid and pray six rakahs; and I think he made the recitation; bowing; and prostration equal in length. She said: And this is how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued to pray. | The Chapter on Bowing In Prayers Sleeping And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on What is done when one begins the prayer standing and mentioning the differences with those who reported from Aisha concerning it in Sunan AlNasai |

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26214 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: I spent a night with the Prophet sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam. When he woke up from his sleep in the latter part of the night for prayer he came to his ablution water. He took the tooth-stick and used it. He recited these verses up to the end of the chapter or he finished the whole chapter. He then performed ablution and came to the place of prayer. He then said two rakahs of prayer. He then lay down on the bed and slept as much as Allaah wished. He then got up and did the same. He then lay down and slept. He then got up and did the same. MuwataMalik-017-001-35678 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Makhrama Ibn Sulayman from Kurayb; the mawla of Ibn Abbas; that Abdullah Ibn Abbas told him that he had spent a night at the house of Maimuna; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; who was also Ibn Abbas mother sister. Ibn Abbas said; I lay down with my head on the breadth of the cushion; and the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; and his wife lay down with their heads on its length. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; slept; until; halfway through the night or a little before or after it; he awoke and sat up and wiped the sleep away from his face with his hand. Then he recited the last ten ayats of Surat Ali Imran Sura3. Then he got up and went over to a water-skin which was hanging up and did Ablution from it; doing his Ablution thoroughly; and then he stood in prayer. Ibn Abbas continued; I stood up and did the same and then went and stood by his side. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; put his right hand on my head and took my right ear and tweaked it. He prayed two rakas; then two rakas; then two rakas; then two rakas; then two rakas; then two rakas; and then prayed an odd raka. Then he lay down until the muadhdhin came to him; and then prayed two quick rakas; and went out and prayed subh. | The Chapter on Bowing In Prayers Sleeping And Ablution in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik |
