This because they rejected the Signs of Allah, and slew the prophets in defiance of right; this because they rebelled and transgressed beyond bounds. |

Hafsa asked the permission of Aisha to pitch a tent for her and she allowed her and she pitched her tent. When Zainab bint Jahsh saw it; she pitched another tent. In the morning the Prophet ﷺ noticed the tents. He said; What is this? He was told of the whole situation. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; Do you think that they intended to do righteousness by doing this? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5164 | Narrated Amra bint Abdulrahman from Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ used to practice Itikaf every year in the month of Ramadan. And after offering the morning prayer; he used to enter the place of his Itikaf. Aisha asked his permission to let her practice Itikaf and he allowed her; and so she pitched a tent in the Masjid. When Hafsa heard of that; she also pitched a tent for herself ; and when Zainab heard of that; she too pitched another tent. When; in the morning; Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished the morning prayer; he saw four tents and asked; What is this? He was informed about it. He then said; What made them do this? Is it righteousness? Remove the tents; for I do not want to see them. So; the tents were removed. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5168 | Narrated Amra bint Abdulrahman from Aisha: Allah Messenger ﷺ mentioned that he would practice Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. Aisha asked his permission to perform Itikaf and he permitted her. Hafsa asked Aisha to take his permission for her; and she did so. When Zainab bint Jahsh saw that; she ordered a tent to be pitched for her and it was pitched for her. Allah Messenger ﷺ used to proceed to his tent after the prayer. So; he saw the tents ans asked; What is this? He was told that those were the tents of Aisha; Hafsa; and Zainab. Allah Apostle said; Is it righteousness which they intended by doing so? I am not going to perform Itikaf. So he returned home. SahihMuslim-017-001-21387 | Aisha Allah be pleased with her reported that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decided to observe itikaf; he prayed in the morning and then went to the place of his itikaf; and he commanded that a tent should be pitched for him; and it was pitched. He once decided to observe itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. Zainab the wife of the Holy Prophet commanded that a tent should be pitched for her. It was pitched accordingly. And some other wives of Allah Apostle ﷺ commanded that tents should be pitched for them too. And they were pitched. When the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him offered the morning prayer; he looked and found so many tents. Thereupon he said: What is this virtue that these ladies have decided to acquire? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28230 | Ibn Abbas said: The deputation of Abd AlQais came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: This is the tribe of Rabiah; and the infidels of Mudar are between us and you. We are able to come to you only in the sacred month. So give a decisive command which we may follow ourselves and to which we call those at home behind us. He the Prophet said: I command you to observe four things; and forbade you four things: Belief in Allah. the testimony that there is no god but Allah; and he expresses one by folding his hand. Mousadad version has: Faith in Allah; and he explained to them: The testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; observance of prayer; payment of zakat; and your giving the filth of the booty. I forbid you the use of pumpkins; green jarrs; vessels smeared with pitch; and hollow stumps of palm-trees. Ibn Ubaid version has word muqayar vessels smeared with pitch instead of naqir hollow stumps. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29511 | Aisha said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to observe Itikaf; he prayed the fajr prayer and then entered his place of seclusion. Once he intended to observe Itikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan. She said: He ordered to pitch a tent for him; and it was pitched. She said: The other wives of the Prophet ﷺ also ordered to pitch tents for them and they were pitched. When he offered the fajr prayer; he saw the tents; and said: What is this ? Did you intend to do an act of virtue ? She said: He then ordered to demolish his tent; and it was demolished. Then his wives also ordered to demolish their tents and they were demolished.
