The Prophet ﷺ said; Try to find something; even if it is an iron ring. He went again and returned; saying; No; by Allah; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; not even an iron ring; but I have this waist sheet of mine. The man had no upper garment; so he intended to give her; half his waist sheet. So Allah Messenger ﷺ said; What would she do with your waist sheet? If you wear it; she will have nothing of it over her body; and if she wears it; you will have nothing over your body. So that man sat for a long period and then got up; and Allah Messenger ﷺ saw him going away; so he ordered somebody to call him. When he came; the Prophet ﷺ asked him; How much of the Quran do you know? He replied; I know such Surat and such Surat and such Surat; and went on counting it; The Prophet ﷺ asked him; Can you recite it by heart? he replied; Yes. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go; I have married this lady to you for the amount of the Quran you know by heart. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Go to your people family and see if you can find something. He returned and said: I have found nothing. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: See even if it is an iron ring. He went and returned and said: No; by Allah; not even an iron ring; but only this lower garment of mine Sahl said that he had no upper garment ; half of which I am prepared to part with for her. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: How can your lower garment serve your purpose; for it you wear it; she would not be able to make any use of it and if she wears it there would not be anything on you? The man sat down and as the sitting prolonged he stood up in disappointment and as he was going back Allah Messenger ﷺ commanded him to be called back; and as he came; he said to him: Do you know any part of the Quran? He said: I know such and such surahs and he counted them ; whereupon he ﷺ said: Can you recite them from heart from your memory ? He said: Yes; whereupon he Allah Messenger said: Go; I have given her to you in marriage for the part of the Quran which you know. And I am the first for whom the earth will split open; and I am not boasting. He said: The people will be frightened by three frights. So they will come to Adam saying: You are our father Adam; so intercede for us with your Lord. So he says: I committed a sin for which I was expelled to the earth; so go to Nuh. So they will come to Nuh and he will say: I supplicated against the people of the earth; so they were destroyed. So go to Ibrahim. So they will go to Ibrahim; and he says: I lied three times. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He did not lie except defending Allah religion. So go to Mousa. So they will come to Mousa; and he will say: I took a life. So go to Eisa. So they go to Eisa and he says: I was worshiped besides Allah. So go to Muhammad ﷺ. He said: So they will come to me; and I will go to them. One of the narrators Ibn Judan said: Anas said: It is as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and he is saying: So I will take hold of a ring of a gate of Paradise to rattle it; and it will be said: Who is there? It will be said: Muhammad. They will open it for me; and welcome me saying; Welcome. I will fall prostrate and Allah will inspire me with statements of gratitude and praise and it will be said to me: Raise your head; ask and you shall be given; intercede; and your intercession shall be accepted; speak; and your saying shall be heard. And that is AlMaqam AlMahmud about which Allah said: It may be that your Lord will raise you to Maqaman-Mahmud 17:79. Sufyan said: None of it is from Anas except this sentence: I will take hold of a ring of a gate of Paradise to rattle it. SunanAlNasai-017-001-13509		It was narrated from Abu Asma AlRahabi that Thawban; the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL; told him: Fatimah bint Hubairah came to the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL with a big ring on her hand. He the narrator said: This is what I found in the book of my father; a huge ring.- The Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL started hitting her hand; so she entered upon Fatimah; the daughter of the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL; and complained to her about what the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL had done. Fatimah took off a gold chain from her neck and said: This was given to me by AbuHassan The Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL came in and ﷺ the chain in her hand. He said: O Fatimah; would you like the people to say that the daughter of the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL has a chain of fire in her hand? Then he went out; without sitting down. Fatimah sent the chain to the market and sold it; and she bought a slave with the money; and set him free. He was told of that and he said: Praise be to Allah; Who has saved Fatimah from the Fire. He said: Why dont you get rid of this thing that is on your finger? The man took it and threw it away. The Prophet SAWSYMOBOL saw him after that and said: What happened to the ring? He said: I threw it away. He said: I did not tell you to do that; rather I told you to sell it and benefit from its price. This Hadith is Munkar. Then he threw it away and we did not realize what he had done. Then he ordered that a ring of silver be made; and that the words : Muhammad Rasul Allah be engraved on it. It remained on the hand of the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL until he died; then on the hand of Abu Bakr until he died; then on the hand of Umar until he died. Then it remained on the hand of Uthman for the first six years of his duties; but when he had to write many letters; he gave it to a man from among Ansar who used to seal letters with it. Then the Ansari went out to a well belonging to Uthman and the ring fell. They looked for it but could not find it. He ordered that a similar ring be made and engraved the words : Muhammad Rasul Allah on it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26175		Narrated Anas Ibn Malik: When the Prophet ﷺ entered the privy; he removed his ring.Abu Dawud said: This is a munkar tradition; i.e. it contradicts the well-known version reported by reliable narrators. On the authority of Anas the well-known version says: The Prophet ﷺ had a silver ring made for him. Then he cast it off. The misunderstanding is on the part of Hammam who is the narrator of the previous tradition mentioned in the text. This is transmitted only by Hammam. Then Abu Bakr wore it after him; then Umar wore it after Abu Bakr; and the Uthman wore it after Umar till it fell down in a well called Aris.Abu Dawud said: The people did not disagree on Uthman till the signet-rin fell down from his hand. When he was about to bow; he raised them his hands in a like manner. Then he sat; stretched out his left foot to sit on it ; placed his left hand on his left thigh; and kept away the tip of his right elbow from his right thigh; joined two fingers; formed a ring; to do so. And the narrator Bishr made a ring with the thumb and the middle finger.
