They said; Even you will not be saved by your deeds ; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; No; even I will not be saved unless and until Allah bestows His Mercy on me. Therefore; do good deeds properly; sincerely and moderately; and worship Allah in the forenoon and in the afternoon and during a part of the night; and always adopt a middle; moderate; regular course whereby you will reach your target Paradise. | The Chapter on Angeles And Good Deeds And Day Of Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The adoption of a middle course and the regularity of deeds in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2183 | Narrated Abu Mousa: Allah Messenger ﷺ said. My example and the example of the message with which Allah has sent me is like that of a man who came to some people and said; I have seen with my own eyes the enemy forces; and I am a naked warner to you so save yourself; save yourself! A group of them obeyed him and went out at night; slowly and stealthily and were safe; while another group did not believe him and thus the army took them in the morning and destroyed them. | The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To give up sinful deeds in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2231 | Narrated Abu Said: The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah will say; O Adam!. Adam will reply; Labbaik and Sadaik I respond to Your Calls; I am obedient to Your orders ; wal Khair fi Yadaik and all the good is in Your Hands ! Then Allah will say to Adam ; Bring out the people of the Fire. Adam will say; What how many are the people of the Fire? Allah will say; Out of every thousand take out nine hundred and ninety-nine persons. At that time children will become hoary-headed and every pregnant female will drop her load have an abortion and you will see the people as if they were drunk; yet not drunk; But Allah punishment will be very severe. That news distressed the companions of the Prophet ﷺ too much; and they said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Who amongst us will be that man the lucky one out of one-thousand who will be saved from the Fire ? He said; Have the good news that one-thousand will be from Gog and Magog; and the one to be saved will be from you. The Prophet ﷺ added; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is; I Hope that you Muslims will be one third of the people of Paradise. On that; we glorified and praised Allah and said; Allahu Akbar. The Prophet ﷺ then said; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is; I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise; as your Muslims example in comparison to the other people non-Muslims ; is like that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox; or a round hairless spot on the foreleg of a donkey. | The Chapter on Charity To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Who associate others in worship with Allah in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2273 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Some people said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? He said; Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the sun when it is not hidden by clouds? They replied; No; Allah Messenger ﷺ. He said; Do you crowd and squeeze each other on looking at the moon when it is full and not hidden by clouds? They replied; No; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; So you will see Him your Lord on the Day of Resurrection similarly Allah will gather all the people and say; Whoever used to worship anything should follow that thing. So; he who used to worship the sun; will follow it; and he who used to worship the moon will follow it; and he who used to worship false deities will follow them; and then only this nation i.e.; Muslims will remain; including their hypocrites. Allah will come to them in a shape other than they know and will say; I am your Lord. They will say; We seek refuge with Allah from you. This is our place; we will not follow you till our Lord comes to us; and when our Lord comes to us; we will recognize Him. Then Allah will come to then in a shape they know and will say; I am your Lord. They will say; No doubt You are our Lord; and they will follow Him. Then a bridge will be laid over the Hell Fire. Allah Messenger ﷺ added; I will be the first to cross it. And the invocation of the Apostles on that Day; will be Allahumma Sallim; Sallim O Allah; save us; save us! ; and over that bridge there will be hooks Similar to the thorns of As Sadan a thorny tree. Didnt you see the thorns of AlSadan? The companions said; Yes; O Allah Messenger ﷺ. He added; So the hooks over that bridge will be like the thorns of AlSa-dan except that their greatness in size is only known to Allah. These hooks will snatch the people according to their deeds. Some people will be ruined because of their evil deeds; and some will be cut into pieces and fall down in Hell; but will be saved afterwards; when Allah has finished the judgments among His slaves; and intends to take out of the Fire whoever He wishes to take out from among those who used to testify that none had the right to be worshipped but Allah. We will order the angels to take them out and the angels will know them by the mark of the traces of prostration on their foreheads for Allah banned the f ire to consume the traces of prostration on the body of Adam son. So they will take them out; and by then they would have burnt as coal ; and then water; called Maul Hayat water of life will be poured on them; and they will spring out like a seed springs out on the bank of a rainwater stream; and there will remain one man who will be facing the Hell Fire and will say; O Lord! It Hells vapor has Poisoned and smoked me and its flame has burnt me; please turn my face away from the Fire. He will keep on invoking Allah till Allah says; Perhaps; if I give you what you want ; you will ask for another thing? The man will say; No; by Your Power; I will not ask You for anything else. Then Allah will turn his face away from the Fire. The man will say after that; O Lord; bring me near the gate of Paradise. Allah will say to him ; Didnt you promise not to ask for anything else? Woe to you; O son of Adam ! How treacherous you are! The man will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will say; But if I give you that; you may ask me for something else. The man will say; No; by Your Power. I will not ask for anything else. He will give Allah his covenant and promise not to ask for anything else after that. So Allah will bring him near to the gate of Paradise; and when he sees what is in it; he will remain silent as long as Allah will; and then he will say; O Lord! Let me enter Paradise. Allah will say; Didnt you promise that you would not ask Me for anything other than that? Woe to you; O son of Adam ! How treacherous you are! On that; the man will say; O Lord! Do not make me the most wretched of Your creation; and will keep on invoking Allah till Allah will smile and when Allah will smile because of him; then He will allow him to enter Paradise; and when he will enter Paradise; he will be addressed; Wish from so-and-so. He will wish till all his wishes will be fulfilled; then Allah will say; All this i.e. what you have wished for and as much again therewith are for you. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4254 | Narrated Ibn Umar: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Once three persons from the previous nations were traveling; and suddenly it started raining and they took shelter in a cave. The entrance of the cave got closed while they were inside. They said to each other; O you! Nothing can save you except the truth; so each of you should ask Allah Help by referring to such a deed as he thinks he did sincerely i.e. just for gaining Allah Pleasure. So one of them said; O Allah! You know that I had a laborer who worked for me for one Faraq i.e. three Sas of rice; but he departed; leaving it i.e. his wages. I sowed that Faraq of rice and with its yield I bought cows for him. Later on when he came to me asking for his wages; I said to him ; Go to those cows and drive them away. He said to me; But you have to pay me only a Faraq of rice; I said to him; Go to those cows and take them; for they are the product of that Faraq of rice. So he drove them. O Allah! If you consider that I did that for fear of You; then please remove the rock. The rock shifted a bit from the mouth of the cave. The second one said; O Allah; You know that I had old parents whom I used to provide with the milk of my sheep every night. One night I was delayed and when I came; they had slept; while my wife and children were crying with hunger. I used not to let them i.e. my family drink unless my parents had drunk first. So I disliked to wake them up and also disliked that they should sleep without drinking it; I kept on waiting for them to wake till it dawned. O Allah! If You consider that I did that for fear of you; then please remove the rock. So the rock shifted and they could see the sky through it. The third one said; O Allah! You know that I had a cousin i.e. my paternal uncle daughter who was most beloved to me and I sought to seduce her; but she refused; unless I paid her one-hundred Dinars i.e. gold pieces. So I collected the amount and brought it to her; and she allowed me to sleep with her. But when I sat between her legs; she said; Be afraid of Allah; and do not deflower me but legally. I got up and left the hundred Dinars for her. O Allah! If You consider that I did that for fear of you than please remove the rock. SahihMuslim-017-001-17614 | Imran Bin Hosain reported that the tribe of Thaqif was the ally of Banu Uqail. Thaqif took two persons from amongst the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ as prisoners. The Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ took one person at Banu Uqail as prisoner; and captured AlAdbi the camel of the Holy Prophet along with him. Allah Messenger ﷺ came to him and he was tied with ropes. He said: Muhammad. He came near him and said: What is the matter with you? Thereupon he the prisoner said: Why have you taken me as prisoner and why have you caught hold of one proceeding the pilgrims the camel as she carried the Prophet on her back and walked ahead of the multitude ? He the Holy Prophet said: Yours is a great fault. I my men have caught hold of you for the crime of your allies; Banu Thaqif. He the Holy Prophet then turned away. He again called him and said: Muhammad; Muhammad; and since Allah Messenger ﷺ was very compassionate; and tenderhearted; he returned to him; and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am a Muslim; whereupon he the Holy Prophet said: Had you said this when you had been the master of yourself; you would have gained every success. He then turned away. He the prisoner called him again saying: Muhammad; Muhammad. He came to him and said: What is the matter with you? He said: I am hungry; feed me; and I am thirsty; so provide me with drink. He the Holy Prophet said: That is to satisfy your want. He was then ransomed for two persons who had been taken prisoner by Thaqif. He the narrator said: A woman of the Ansar had been taken prisoner and also AlAdbi was caught. The woman had been tied with ropes. The people were giving rest to their animals before their houses. She escaped one night from the bondage and came to the camels. As she drew near the camels; they fretted and fumed and so she left them until she came to Al; Adbi. It did not fret and fume; it was docile She rode upon its back and drove it away and she went off. When they the enemies of Islam were warned of this; they went in search of it; but it the camel exhausted them. She the woman took vow for Allah; that in case He would save her through it; she would offer that as a sacrifice. As she reached Medina; the people saw her and they said: Here is AlAdbi; the camel of Allah Messenger ﷺ. She the woman said that she had taken a vow that if Allah would save her on its back; she would sacrifice it. They the Prophet Companions came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and made a mention of that to him; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; how ill she rewarded it that she took vow to Allah that if He saves her on its back; she would sacrifice it! There is no fulfillment of the vow in an act of disobedience; nor in an act over which a person has no control. In the version of Ibn Hujr the words are : There is no vow in disobedience to Allah. | The Chapter on Camels And Herdsmen And Holiness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 3 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-18772 | It is narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira and Hudhaifa that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; would gather people. The believers would stand till the Paradise would be brought near them. They would come to Adam and say: O our father; open for us the Paradise. He would say: What turned ye out from the Paradise was the sin of your father Adam. I am not in a position to do that; better go to my son Ibrahim; the Friend of Allah. He the Holy Prophet said: He Ibrahim would say: I am not in a position to do that. Verily I had been the Friend of Allah from beyond; beyond; you better approach Moses ﷺ with whom Allah conversed. They would come to Moses ﷺ ; but he would say: I am not in a position to do that; you better go to Jesus; the Word of Allah and His Spirit. Jesus ﷺ would say: I am not in a position to do that. So they would come to Muhammad ﷺ. He would then be permitted to open the door of Paradise. Trustworthiness and kinship would be despatched; and these would stand on the right and left of the Path and the first of you would pass with the swiftness of lightning. He the narrator said: I said; O thou who art far dearer to me than my father and my mother I which thing is like the passing of lightning? He said: Have you not seen lightning; how it passes and then comes back within the twinkling of an eye? Then they would pass like the passing of the wind; then like the passing of a bird; and the hastening of persons would be according to their deeds; and your Apostle would be standing on the Path saying: Save; O my Lord; save. The people would go on passing till the deeds of the servants would be failing in strength; till a man would come who would find it hard to go along that Path but crawlingly. He the narrator said: And on the sides of the Path hooks would be suspended ready to catch anyone whom these would be required to catch. There would be those who would somehow or other succeed in trasversing that Path and some would be piled up in Hell. By Him in Whose Hand is the life of Abu Huraira it would take one seventy years to fathom the depth of Hell. | The Chapter on Friday And Supplications in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 84 in Sahih Muslim

But it so happened that at times this was destroyed and that was saved. whereas on other occasions this portion was saved and the other was destroyed and thus no rent was payable to the people who let out lands but for this one which was saved. He said: Listen I by Allah; I do not like my house to be situated by the side of Muhammad ﷺ. I took these words of his ill and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him about these words. SunanAlNasai-017-001-12045 | Alqamah Bin Wail narrated from his father that he was sitting with the Messenger of Allah when a man came leading another man by a string. He said: O Messenger of Allah; this man killed my brother. The Messenger of Allah said to him: Did you kill him? He said: O Messenger of Allah even if he did not confess I would have brought proof against him. He said: Yes; I killed him. He said: How did you kill him? He said: He and I were chopping firewood from a tree and he insulted me; so I got angry and struck him with the ax on the forehead. The Messenger of Allah said: Do you have any wealth with which you can pay the Diyah to save yourself? He said: O Messenger of Allah; I do not have anything but my ax and my clothes. The Messenger of Allah said to him: Do you think your people will pay to save you? He said: I am too insignificant to them for that. He threw the string to the man and said: Here; thank him. When he turned to go; the Messenger of Allah said: If he kills him; he will be like him. They caught up with the man; and said: Woe to you! The Messenger of Allah said: If he kills him; he will be like him. So he went back to the Messenger of Allah and said: O Messenger of Allah; I have been told that you said: if he kills him; he will be like him. But I only took him because you told me to. SunanAlNasai-017-001-14190 | It was narrated from mousab Bin Saad that his father said: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah; the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL granted amnesty to the people; except four men and two women. He said: Kill them; even if you find them clinging to the covers of Kabah. They were Ikrimah Bin Abi Jahl; Abdullah Bin Khatal; Miqyas Bin Subabah and Abdullah Bin Saad Bin Abi AlSarh. Abdullah Bin Khatl was caught while he was clinging to the covers of Kabah. Saeed Bin Huraith and Ammar Bin Yasir both rushed toward him; but Saeed; who was the younger of the two; got there before Ammar; and he killed him. Miqyas Bin Subabah was caught by the people in the marketplace; and they killed him. Ikrimah traveled by sea; and he was caught in a storm. The crew of the ship said: Turn sincerely toward Allah; for your false gods cannot help you at all in this situation. Ikrimah said: By Allah; if nothing came to save me at sea except sincerity toward Allah then nothing else will save me on land. O Allah; I promise You that if You save me from this predicament I will go to Muhammad SAWSYMOBOL and put my hand in his; and I am sure that I will find him generous and forgiving. So he came; and accepted Islam. Abdullah bin Sad Bin Abi Sarh hid in the house of Uthman Bin Affan; and when the Messenger of Allah SAWSYMOBOL called the people to give their Oath of Allegiance; he brought him; and made him stand before the Prophet SAWSYMOBOL. He Uthman said: O Messenger of Allah! Accept the allegiance of Abdullah. He raised his head and looked at him three times; refusing his allegiance each time; then he accepted his allegiance after three times. Then he turned to his Companions and said: Was there not any sensible man among you who would get up when he saw me refusing to give him my hand and kill him? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28581 | Imran Bin Hosain said: Adba belonged to a man of Banu Aqil. It used to go ahead of pligrims. The man was then captivated. He was brought in chains to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was riding on a donkey with a blanket on him. He said: Muhammad; why do you arrest me and capture the one i.e. the camel which goes ahead of the pilgrims. He replied: We are arresting you on account of the crime committed by your allies Thaqid. Thaqif captivated two persons from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said whatever he said I am a Muslim; or he said: I have embraced Islam. When the Prophet ﷺ went ahead; he called him: O Muhammed; O Muhammed. Abu Dawud said: I learnt it from the version of the narrator Muhammad Bin Isa. The Prophet ﷺ was compassionate and kind hearted. So he returned to him; and asked: What is the matter with you ? He replied: I am a Muslim. He said: Had you said it when the matter was in your hand; you would have succeeded completely. Abu Dawud said: I then returned to the version of the narrator Sulaiman Bin Harb. He said: Muhammad; I am hungry; so feed me. I am thirsty; so give me water. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is your need; or he said: This is his need the narrator is doubtful. Later on the man was taken back by Thaqif as a ransom for the two men of the Companions of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ retained Adba for his journey. The narrator said: The polytheists raided the pasturing animals of Medina and they took away Adba. When they took away Adba; they also captivated a Muslim woman. They used to leave their camels in the fields for rest at night. One night they slept and the Muslim woman stood up. Any camel on which she put her hand brayed until she came to Adba. She came to a camel which was docile and experienced. She then rode on her and vowed to Allah that if He saved her; she would sacrifice it. When she came to Medina; the people recognized the camel of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was then informed about it and he sent for her. She was brought to him and she informed him about her vow. He said: It is a bad return that you have given it. Allah has not saved you; on its back that you now sacrifice it.
