Enter not the Prophet's houses, - until leave is given you, - for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but Allah is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs. Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy Allah's Messenger, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in Allah's sight an enormity. | |

I said; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He said; I would not like to have gold equal to this mountain of Uhud; unless nothing of it; not even a single Dinar of it remains with me for more than three days; except something which I will keep for repaying debts. I would have spent all of it distributed it amongst Allah Slaves like this; and like this; and like this. The Prophet ﷺ pointed out with his hand towards his right; his left and his back while illustrating it. He proceeded with his walk and said; The rich are in fact the poor little rewarded on the Day of Resurrection except those who spend their wealth like this; and like this; and like this; to their right; left and back; but such people are few in number. Then he said to me; Stay at your place and do not leave it till I come back. Then he proceeded in the darkness of the night till he went out of sight; and then I heard a loud voice; and was afraid that something might have happened to the Prophet ﷺ.1 intended to go to him; but I remembered what he had said to me; i.e. Dont leave your place till I come back to you; so I remained at my place till he came back to me. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I heard a voice and I was afraid. So I mentioned the whole story to him. He said; Did you hear it? I replied; Yes. He said; It was Gabriel who came to me and said; Whoever died without joining others in worship with Allah; will enter Paradise. I asked Gabriel ; Even if he had committed theft or committed illegal sexual intercourse? SunanAlNasai-017-001-15084 | Kuraib narrated that Umm AlFadl sent him to Muawiyah in AlSham. He said: I came to AlSham. He said: I came to AlSham and complete her errand. Then the new crescent of Ramadan was sighted while I was in AlSham. I saw the new crescent on the night of Friday; then I came to AlMadinah at the end of the month. Abdullah Bin Abbas asked me about the sighting of the moon and said: When did you see it? I said: We saw it on the night of Friday. He said; You saw it on the ninth of Friday? I said: Yes; and the people saw it and started fasting; and so did Muawiyah. He said: But we saw it on the night of Saturday; so we will continue fasting until we have completed thirty days or we see it. I said: Will you not be content with the sighting of Muawiyah and his companions? He said: Messenger of Allah; I have trained dogs; so tell me your opinion about eating the animal they hunt. The Prophet ﷺ said: If you have trained dogs; then eat what they catch for you. He asked: Whether it is slaughtered or not? He replied: Yes. He asked: Does it apply even if it eats any of it? He replied: Even if it eats any of it. He again asked: Messenger of Allah; tell me your opinion about my bow i.e. the game hunted by arrow. He said: Eat what your bow returns to you; whether it is slaughtered or not. He asked: If it goes out of my sight? He replied: Even if it goes out of your sight; provided it has no stench; or you find a mark on it other than the mark of your arrow. He asked: Tell me about the use of the vessels of the Magians when we are forced to use them. If the weather is cloudy; calculate it thirty days. When the twenty-ninth of Shaban came; Ibn Umar would send someone who tried to sight the moon for him. If it was sighted; then well and good; in case it was not sighted; and there was no cloud and dust before him on the horizon ; he would not keep fast the next day. If there appeared on the horizon before him cloud or dust; he would fast the following day. The moon of Ramadan appeared while I was in Syria. We sighted the moon on the night of Friday. When I came to Median towards the end of the month of Ramadan ; Ibn Abbas asked me about the moon. He said: When did you sight the moon ? I said: I sighted it on the night of Friday. He asked: Did you sight it yourself ? I said: Yes; and the people sighted it. They fasted and Muawiyah also fasted. He said: But we sighted it on the night of saturday. Since then we have been fasting until we complete thirty days or we sight it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29385 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: Husayn Ibn AlHarith AlJadli from the tribe of Jadilah Qays said: The governor of Mecca delivered a speech and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a pledge from us that we should perform the rites of hajj after sighting the moon. If we do not sight it and two reliable persons bear witness; we should perform the rites of hajj on the basis of their witness. I then asked AlHusayn Ibn AlHarith: Who was the governor of Mecca? He replied: I do not know. He then met me later on and told me: He was AlHarith Ibn Hatib; brother of Muhammad Ibn Hatib. The governor then said: There is among you a man who is more acquainted with Allah and His Apostle than I. He witnessed this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He then pointed with his hand to a man. AlHusayn said: I asked an old man beside me: Who is that man to whom the governor has alluded? He said: This is Abdullah Ibn Umar; and he spoke the truth. He was more acquainted with Allah than he.
