  Hattan Bin Abdullah AlRaqashi reported: I observed prayer with Abu Mousa AlAshari and when he was in the qadah; one among the people said: The prayer has been made obligatory along with piety and Zakat. He the narrator said: When Abu Mousa had finished the prayer after salutation he turned towards the people and said: Who amongst you said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He again said: Who amongst you has said such and such a thing? A hush fell on the people. He Abu Mousa said: Hattan; it is perhaps you that have uttered it. He Hattan said No. I have not uttered it. I was afraid that you might be annoyed with me on account of this. A person amongst the people said: It was I who said it; and in this I intended nothing but good. Abu Mousa said: Dont you know what you have to recite in your prayers? Verily the Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and explained to us all its aspects and taught us how to observe prayer properly. He the Holy Prophet said: When you pray make your rows straight and let anyone amongst you act as your Imam. Recite the takbir when he recites it and when he recites: Not of those with whom Thou art angry; nor of those who go astray; say: Amin. Allah would respond you. And when he the Imam recites the takbir; you may also recite the takbir; for the Imam bows before you and raises himself before you. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The one is equivalent to the other. And when he says: Allah listens to him who praises Him; you should say: O Allah; our Lord; to Thee be the praise; for Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; has vouchsafed us through the tongue of His Apostle ﷺ that Allah listens to him who praises Him. And when he the Imam recites the takbir and prostrates; you should also recite the takbir and prostrate; for the Imam prostrates before you and raises himself before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The one is equivalent to the other. And when he the Imam sits for Qada for tashahhud the first words of every one amongst you should be: All services rendered by words; acts of worship and all good things are due to Allah. Abu Huraira said: O Allah; I do not say this; except that I heard a woman who came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was sitting with him; and she said: My husband wishes to take away my son; Messenger of Allah; and he draws water for me from the well of Abu Inabah; and he has been good to me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Cast lots for him. Her husband said: Who is disputing with me about my son? The Prophet ﷺ said: This is your father and this your mother; so take whichever of them you wish by the hand. So he took his mother hand and she went away with him.

In the meanwhile; Umar regretted his refusal of Abu Bakr excuse and went to Abu Bakr house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

When we recite the verses of AlSajda during the sermon whoever prostrates does the right thing; yet it is no sin for the one who does not prostrate. And Umar did not prostrate that day. Added Ibn Umar Allah has not made the prostration of recitation compulsory but if we wish we can do it.

Thereupon Umar said: I do not mean that turmoil on a small scale but that one which would emerge like the mounting waves of the ocean. I said: Commander of the Faithful; you have nothing to do with it; for the door is closed between you and that. He said: Would that door be broken or opened? I said: No; it would be broken. Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? Thereupon he said: Yes; he knew it for certain just as one knows that night precedes the next day. And I narrated to him something in which there was nothing fabricated.   Shubah narrated from Mansur who said: I heard Mujahid narrating from Abu Ayash AlZuraqi- Shubah said: He had written it for me; and I read it before him; and I heard him narrating it; rather; I even memorized it. Ibn Bashshar said: I memorized it from the book- The Prophet ﷺ was drawing up ranks facing the enemy in Usfan when the idolaters were led by Khalid Bin AlWalid. The Prophet ﷺ led them in praying Zuhr. The idolaters said: They have a prayer after this that is dearer to them than their wealth and sons. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in praying Asr. He divided them into two rows; behind him. He led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads he led the row that was closest to him in prostrating; while the others remained standing. When they raised their heads from prostration; the second row prostrated; as they had already bowed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then the front row moved forward; so each of them took the place of his companion. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads from bowing; the row that was closest to him prostrated while the others remained standing; then when they had finished prostrating; the others prostrated; then the Prophet ﷺ said the taslim for all of them together.
