Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I enjoin upon you four things and forbid you to do four things : worship Allah and associate none with Him; establish prayer; pay Zakat; and observe the fast of Ramadan; and pay the fifth part out of the booty. And I prohibit you from four things : dry gourds; green-coloured jars; hollowed stumps of palm-trees; and receptacles. They the members of the delegation said: Do you know what Alnaqir is? He replied: Yes; it is a stump which you hollow out and in which you throw small dates. Saeed said: He the Holy Prophet used the word tamar dates. The Prophet then added : Then you sprinkle water over it and when its ebullition subsides; you drink it and you are so intoxicated that one amongst you; or one amongst them the other members of your tribe; who were not present there strikes his cousin with the sword. He the narrator said: There was a man amongst us who had sustained injury on this very account due to intoxication ; and he told that he tried to conceal it out of shame from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I; however; inquired from the Messenger of Allah it we discard those utensils which you have forbidden us to use ; then what type of vessels should be used for drink? He the Holy Prophet replied: In the waterskin the mouths of which are tied with a string. They again said: Prophet of Allah; our land abounds in rats and water-skins cannot remain preserved. The holy Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: Drink in water-skins even if these arenibbled by rats. And then addressing AlAshajj of Abd AlQais he said: Verily; you possess two such qualities which Allah loves: insight and deliberateness.

One of the people Muslims said: I will constantly shadow him. Then this man went out along with him. He halted whenever he halted; and ran along with him whenever he ran. He the narrator said: The man was seriously injured. He could not stand the pain and hastened his own death. He placed the blade of the sword on the ground with the tip between his chest and then pressed himself against the sword and killed himself. Then the man following him went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I bear testimony that verily thou art the Messenger of Allah; He the Holy Prophet said: What is the matter? He replied: The person about whom you just mentioned that he was one among the denizens of Fire and the people were surprised at this and I said to them that I would bring the news about him and consequently I went out in search of him till I found him to be very seriously injured. He hastened his death. He placed the blade of the sword upon the ground and its tip between his chest and then pressed himself against that and killed himself. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: A person performs the deeds which to the people appear to be the deeds befitting the dweller of Paradise; but he is in fact one of the denizens of Hell. And verily a person does an act which in the eyes of public is one which is done by the denizens of Hell; but the person is one among the dwellers of Paradise.

    It is reported on the authority of Talha Bin Ubaidullah that a person with dishevelled hair; one of the people of Nejd; came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We heard the humming of his voice but could not fully discern what he had been saying; till he came nigh to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. It was then disclosed to us that he was asking questions pertaining to Islam. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Five prayers during the day and the night. Upon this he said: Am I obliged to say any other prayer besides these? He the Holy Prophet; said: No; but whatever you observe voluntarily; out of your own free will; and the fasts of Ramadan. The inquirer said: Am I obliged to do anything else besides this? He the Holy Prophet said: No; but whatever you do out of your own free will. And the Messenger of Allah told him about the Zakat poor-rate. The inquirer said: Am I obliged to pay anything else besides this? He the Holy Prophet said: No; but whatever you pay voluntarily out of your own free will. The man turned back and was saying: I would neither make any addition to this; nor will decrease anything out of it. The Prophet remarked: He is successful; if he is true to what he affirms.

In it; he added: Allah will remind him: Ask such and such; and when his expectations would be realised; Allah would say: That is for you; and ten times as much. He said that he would then enter his house and his two wives with large and dark eyes would enter after him. They will say: Praise be to Allah; Who has created you for us and us for you. He will say: No one has been given the like of what I have been given.

Abu Bakr greeted the Prophet ﷺ and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! There was something i.e. quarrel between me and the Son of AlKhattab. I talked to him harshly and then regretted that; and requested him to forgive me; but he refused. This is why I have come to you. The Prophet ﷺ said thrice; O Abu Bakr! May Allah forgive you. In the meanwhile; Umar regretted his refusal of Abu Bakr excuse and went to Abu Bakr house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

    Narrated Rabia: Umar Bin AlKhattab recited Surat AlNahl on a Friday on the pulpit and when he reached the verse of AlSajda he got down from the pulpit and prostrated and the people also prostrated. The next Friday Umar Bin AlKhattab recited the same Surat and when he reached the verse of AlSajda he said; O people! When we recite the verses of AlSajda during the sermon whoever prostrates does the right thing; yet it is no sin for the one who does not prostrate. And Umar did not prostrate that day. Added Ibn Umar Allah has not made the prostration of recitation compulsory but if we wish we can do it.

    Shubah narrated from Mansur who said: I heard Mujahid narrating from Abu Ayash AlZuraqi- Shubah said: He had written it for me; and I read it before him; and I heard him narrating it; rather; I even memorized it. Ibn Bashshar said: I memorized it from the book- The Prophet ﷺ was drawing up ranks facing the enemy in Usfan when the idolaters were led by Khalid Bin AlWalid. The Prophet ﷺ led them in praying Zuhr. The idolaters said: They have a prayer after this that is dearer to them than their wealth and sons. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in praying Asr. He divided them into two rows; behind him. He led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads he led the row that was closest to him in prostrating; while the others remained standing. When they raised their heads from prostration; the second row prostrated; as they had already bowed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then the front row moved forward; so each of them took the place of his companion. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them all in bowing; then when they raised their heads from bowing; the row that was closest to him prostrated while the others remained standing; then when they had finished prostrating; the others prostrated; then the Prophet ﷺ said the taslim for all of them together.
