The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to so-and-so - a woman whose name Sahl mentioned - telling her: Tell your carpenter slave to make me something of wood that I can sit on when I speak to the people. So she told him; and he made it from tamarisk wood from AlGhabah a place near AlMadinah. Then he brought it and it was sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who commanded that it be set up here. Then I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascend it and praying on it; and saying the Takbir while he was on top of it; then he bowed when he was on top of it; then he came down backward and prostrated at the base of the Minbar; then he went back. When he had finished he turned to face the people and said: O people; I only did this so that you can follow me in prayer and learn how I pray.

So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

So I took it and it was too stiff for him to use; so I said; Shall I soften it for you ? He nodded his approval. So I softened it and he cleaned his teeth with it. In front of him there was a jug or a tin; The sub-narrator; Umar is in doubt as to which was right containing water. He started dipping his hand in the water and rubbing his face with it; he said; None has the right to be worshipped except Allah. Death has its agonies. He then lifted his hands towards the sky and started saying; With the highest companion; till he expired and his hand dropped down.

Then the Prophet ﷺ went along with some of his companions to that well and looked at that and there were date palms near to it. Then he returned to me and said; By Allah the water of that well was red like the infusion of Henna leaves and its date-palms were like the heads of devils I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! As for me Allah has healed me and cured me and I was afraid that by Showing that to the people I would spread evil among them when he ordered that the well be filled up with earth; and it was filled up with earth

The other replied; It is in the well of Dharwan. So; the Prophet ﷺ went out towards the well and then returned and said to me on his return; Its date-palms the date-palms near the well are like the heads of the devils. I asked; Did you take out those things with which the magic was worked? He said; No; for I have been cured by Allah and I am afraid that this action may spread evil amongst the people. He added; But this year he reviewed it with me twice; and therefore I think that my time of death has approached. So; be afraid of Allah; and be patient; for I am the best predecessor for you in the Hereafter. Fatima added; So I wept as you Aisha witnessed. On the night of Hasba; he sent my brother Abdulrahman Bin Abi Bakr with me to AlTanim; where I assumed the Ihram for Umra in lieu of the previous one.
