The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to so-and-so - a woman whose name Sahl mentioned - telling her: Tell your carpenter slave to make me something of wood that I can sit on when I speak to the people. So she told him; and he made it from tamarisk wood from AlGhabah a place near AlMadinah. Then he brought it and it was sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; who commanded that it be set up here. Then I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascend it and praying on it; and saying the Takbir while he was on top of it; then he bowed when he was on top of it; then he came down backward and prostrated at the base of the Minbar; then he went back. When he had finished he turned to face the people and said: O people; I only did this so that you can follow me in prayer and learn how I pray.

I was more unjust to him than he to me. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

He said: When you come down to the territory of his people; be careful of him; for a maxim says: If one is your real brother; do not feel safe with him. So we proceeded; and when I reached AlAbwa; he said to me: I have some work with my people at Waddan; so stay here till I come back. I said: Do not lose your way. When he turned his back; I recalled the words of the Prophet ﷺ. So I rode my camel and galloped without stopping. When I reached AlAsafir; he was pursuing me with a group of men. So I galloped and forged ahead of him. When he saw me that I had outstripped him; they returned and he came to me. He said to me: I had some work with my people. I said: Yes. We then went on until we reached Mecca; and I gave the goods to Abu Sufyan.

Then cease prayer; for at that time the Hell-fire is heated up and doors of Hell are opened. When the sun declines; pray as much as you like; for the prayer is witnessed till you pray the afternoon prayer; then cease prayer till the sun sets; for it sets between the horns of the Devil; and at that time the infidels offer prayer for it. He narrated a lengthy tradition. Abbas said: Abu Salam narrated this tradition in a similar manner from Abu Umamah. If I have made a mistake unintentionally; I beg pardon of Allah and repent to Him.

Again he put his hand in the water and washed his face thrice and washed his forearms up to the elbows twice; and then put his hands in the water and then passed them over his head by bringing them to the front and then to the rear of the head once; and then he washed his feet up to the ankles.

Then one day Allah Messenger ﷺ rode to leave for some place but the sun eclipsed. He returned on the forenoon and passed through the rear of the dwellings of his wives and stood up and started offering the eclipse prayer and the people stood behind him. He stood for a long period and then performed a long bowing and then stood straight for a long period which was shorter than that of the first standing; then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than the first bowing; then he raised his head and prostrated for a long time and then stood up for the second raka for a long while; but the standing was shorter than the standing of the first raka. Then he performed a prolonged bowing which was shorter than that of the first one. He then stood up for a long time but shorter than the first; then again performed a long bowing which was shorter than the first and then prostrated for a shorter while than that of the first prostration. Then he finished the prayer and delivered the sermon and said what Allah wished; and ordered the people to seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
