Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

The Prophet said; If you asked me for this stick; I would not give it to you. I think you are the same person who was shown to me in a dream. And this is Thabit Bin AlQais who will answer you on my behalf. The Prophet ﷺ then went away. I asked Ibn Abbas about the dream Allah Messenger ﷺ had mentioned. Ibn Abbas said; Someone told me that the Prophet ﷺ said; When I was sleeping; I saw in a dream that two gold bangles were put in my hands; and that frightened me and made me dislike them. Then I was allowed to blow on them; and when I blew at them; both of them flew. Then I interpreted them as two liars who would appear. One of them was AlAnsi who was killed by Fairuz in Yemen and the other was Mousailima AlKadhdbab.

So the Prophet ﷺ said: By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! I will judge between you two by the Book of Allah. The one hundred female sheep and the female slave should be returned to you. For your son is one hundred lashes and banishment for a year. O Unais! Go to this Man wife; and if she confesses then stone her. He went to her and she confessed; so he stoned her.

But Umar said; The Prophet is seriously ill; and we have got Allah Book with us and that is sufficient for us. But the companions of the Prophet ﷺ differed about this and there was a hue and cry. On that the Prophet ﷺ said to them; Go away and leave me alone. It is not right that you should quarrel in front of me. Ibn Abbas came out saying; It was most unfortunate a great disaster that Allah Messenger ﷺ was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise. Note: It is apparent from this Hadith that Ibn Abbas had witnessed the event and came out saying this statement. She replied; I have no letter with me. We said; Either you take out the letter or else we will take off your clothes. So; she took it out of her braid. We brought the letter to Allah Messenger ﷺ and it contained a statement from Hatib Bin Abi Balta a to some of the Meccan pagans informing them of some of the intentions of Allah Messenger ﷺ. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Hatib! What is this? Hatib replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Dont hasten to give your judgment about me. I was a man closely connected with the Quraish; but I did not belong to this tribe; while the other emigrants with you; had their relatives in Mecca who would protect their dependents and property. So; I wanted to recompense for my lacking blood relation to them by doing them a favor so that they might protect my dependents. I did this neither because of disbelief not apostasy nor out of preferring Kufr disbelief to Islam. Allah Messenger ﷺ ; said; Hatib has told you the truth. Umar said; O Allah Apostle! Allow me to chop off the head of this hypocrite. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Hatib participated in the battle of Badr; and who knows; perhaps Allah has already looked at the Badr warriors and said; Do whatever you like; for I have forgiven you.

When I finished my prayer; I sat with AlMiswar and Ibn Abu Yaghutb and talked to both of them of what I had said to Uthman and what he had said to me. They said; You have done your duty. So while I was sitting with them. Uthman Messenger came to me. They said; Allah has put you to trial. I set out and when I reached Uthman; he said; What is your advice which you mentioned a while ago? I recited Tashahhud and added; Allah has sent Muhammad and has revealed the Holy Book i.e. Quran to him. You O Uthman! were amongst those who responded to the call of Allah and His Apostle and had faith in him. And you took part in the first two migrations to Ethiopia and to Medina ; and you enjoyed the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and learned his traditions and advice. Now the people are talking much about AlWalid Bin Uqba and so it is your duty to impose on him the legal punishment. Uthman then said to me; O my nephew! Did you ever meet Allah Messenger ﷺ ? I said; No; but his knowledge has reached me as it has reached the virgin in her seclusion. Uthman then recited Tashahhud and said; No doubt; Allah has sent Muhammad with the Truth and has revealed to him His Holy Book i.e. Quran and I was amongst those who responded to the call of Allah and His Apostle and I had faith in Muhammad Mission; and I had performed the first two migrations as you have said; and I enjoyed the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and gave the pledge of allegiance to him. By Allah; I never disobeyed him and never cheated him till Allah caused him to die. Then Allah made Abu Bakr Caliph; and by Allah; I was never disobedient to him; nor did I cheat him. Then Umar became Caliph; and by Allah; I was never disobedient to him; nor did I cheat him. Then I became Caliph. Have I not then the same rights over you as they had over me? I replied in the affirmative. Uthman further said; The what are these talks which are reaching me from you? As for what you ha mentioned about AlWalid Bin Uqb; Allah willing; I shall give him the leg; punishment justly. Then Uthman ordered that AlWalid be flogged fort lashes. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; You should not kill him. AlMiqdad said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! But he had cut off one of my two hands; and then he had uttered those words? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; You should not kill him; for if you kill him; he would be in your position where you had been before killing him; and you would be in his position where he had been before uttering those words.

Umar said: I see that he said; I seek Refuge with Allah from you. So I left him and went to them. Then the messenger of Uthman came and I went to him i.e. Uthman ; Uthman asked; What is your advice? I replied; Allah sent Muhammad with the Truth; and revealed the Divine Book i.e. Quran to him; and you were amongst those who followed Allah and His Apostle; and you participated in the two migrations to Ethiopia and to Medina and enjoyed the company of Allah Messenger ﷺ and saw his way. No doubt; the people are talking much about AlWalid. Uthman said; Did you receive your knowledge directly from Allah Messenger ﷺ ? I said; No; but his knowledge did reach me and it reached even to a virgin in her seclusion. By Allah! I never disobeyed him; nor did I cheat him till Allah took him unto Him. Then I treated Abu Bakr and then Umar similarly and then I was made Caliph. So; dont I have rights similar to theirs? I said; Yes. He said; Then what are these talks reaching me from you people?   Narrated Ubaidullah Bin AlWazi: A Shaikh from Banu Murrah narrated to me; he said: I arrived in AlKufah and was informed about Bilal Bin Abi Burdah so I said: Indeed there is a lesson in him so I went to him while he was imprisoned in his home; which he had built. He said: After everything that had happened to him he had changed due to the punishment and the beatings; and now he was living in isolation. So I said: All praise is due to Allah O Bilal! I have seen you passing you by us holding your nose; and it was not from the dust! And today you are in this state. So he said: Where are you from? I said: From Banu Murrah Bin Abbad. So he said: Shall I not narrate a Hadith to you; perhaps Allah will benefit you by it? I said: Go ahead. He said: My father; Abu Burdah narrated from his father Abu Mousa; that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No worshiper suffers a calamity nor what is worse than that or less; except due to a sin; and what Allah pardons as a result of it is more. Ubaidullah added; I asked Nafi again; and he said; As for leaving hair on the temples and the back part of the boy head; there is no harm; but AlQaza is to leave a tuft of hair on his forehead unshaved while there is no hair on the rest of his head; and also to leave hair on either side of his head.

The Prophet became seriously ill and asked whether the people had prayed. We replied; No. O Allah Apostle! They are waiting for you. He added; Put water for me in a trough. Aisha added; We did so. He took a bath and tried to get up but fainted. When he recovered; he again asked whether the people had prayed. We said; No; they are waiting for you. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; He again said; Put water in a trough for me. He sat down and took a bath and tried to get up but fainted again. Then he recovered and said; Have the people prayed? We replied; No; they are waiting for you. O Allah Apostle. He said; Put water for me in the trough. Then he sat down and washed himself and tried to get up but he fainted. When he recovered; he asked; Have the people prayed? We said; No; they are waiting for you. O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The people were in the Masjid waiting for the Prophet ﷺ for the Isha prayer. The Prophet ﷺ sent for Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer. The messenger went to Abu Bakr and said; Allah Messenger ﷺ orders you to lead the people in the prayer. Abu Bakr was a softhearted man; so he asked Umar to lead the prayer but Umar replied; You are more rightful. So Abu Bakr led the prayer in those days. When the Prophet ﷺ felt a bit better; he came out for the Zuhr prayer with the help of two persons one of whom was AlAbbas. while Abu Bakr was leading the people in the prayer. When Abu Bakr saw him he wanted to retreat but the Prophet ﷺ beckoned him not to do so and asked them to make him sit beside Abu Bakr and they did so. Abu Bakr was following the Prophet in the prayer and the people were following Abu Bakr. The Prophet prayed sitting. Ubaidullah added I went to Abdullah Bin Abbas and asked him; Shall I tell you what Aisha has told me about the fatal illness of the Prophet? Ibn Abbas said; Go ahead. I told him her narration and he did not deny anything of it but asked whether Aisha told me the name of the second person who helped the Prophet ﷺ along with AlAbbas. I said. No. He said; He was Ali Ibn Abi Talib.
