I said: Commander of the Faithful; you have nothing to do with it; for the door is closed between you and that. He said: Would that door be broken or opened? I said: No; it would be broken. Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? Thereupon he said: Yes; he knew it for certain just as one knows that night precedes the next day. And I narrated to him something in which there was nothing fabricated. Shaqiq one of the narrators said: We dared not ask Hudhaifa about that door. So we requested Masruq to ask him. So he asked him and he said: By that door; he meant Umar.

In the meanwhile; Umar regretted his refusal of Abu Bakr excuse and went to Abu Bakr house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him; but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet ﷺ till Abu Bakr pitied Umar ; so he knelt and said twice; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! By Allah! I was more unjust to him than he to me. The Prophet ﷺ said; Allah sent me as a Prophet to you people but you said to me ; You are telling a lie; while Abu Bakr said; He has said the truth; and consoled me with himself and his money. He then said twice; Wont you then give up harming my companion? After that nobody harmed Abu Bakr.

Aisha may Allah be pleased with her said Nay; had it been so as you said; it would have been thus. It is no sin on him not to go around them. This verse was revealed about the Ansaar; they used to perform hajj for Manat. Manat was erected in front of Qudaid. Hence they used to avoid going around AlSafa and AlMarwah. When Islam came; they asked the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ about it. Allaah; the Exalted therefore revealed the verse Lo! The Mountains AlSafa and AlMarwah are among the indications of Allaah.

Ibn Abbas called him and said: You are an uncouth person; devoid of sense. By my life; Muta was practised during the lifetime of the leader of the pious he meant Allah Messenger; ﷺ ; and Ibn AlZubair said to him: just do it yourselves; and by Allah; if you do that I will stone you with your stones. Ibn Shihab said. Khalid Bin Muhajir Bin Saifullah informed me: While I was sitting in the company of a person; a person came to him and he asked for a religious verdict about Muta and he permitted him to do it. Ibn Abu Amrah AlAnsari Allah be pleased with him said to him: Be gentle. It was permitted in- the early days of Islam; for one who was driven to it under the stress of necessity just as the eating of carrion and the blood and flesh of swine and then Allah intensified the commands of His religion and prohibited it altogether. Ibn Shihab reported: Rabi Bin Sabra told me that his father Sabra said: I contracted temporary marriage with a woman of Banu Amir for two cloaks during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; then he forbade us to do Muta. Ibn Shihab said: I heard Rabi Bin Sabra narrating it to Umar Bin Abd AlAziz and I was sitting there.

And it was a common practice with the pagan Arabs that those who pronounced Talbiya for the wretched AlManat; situated at Mushalla; did not observe Sai between AlSafa and AlMarwa. With the advent of Islam; we asked Allah Apostle ﷺ about this practice; and it was on this occasion that Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; revealed this verse: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the Signs of Allah ; so he who performed Hajj or Umra it is no sin on him if he circumambulates them. And if it were as you state; then the wording would have been : There is no harm for him; that he should not circumambulate round them. Zuhri said: I made a mention of that to Abu Bakr Bin Abdulrahman Bin AlHarith Bin Hisham; he was impressed by that and said: This is what is called knowledge. And I have heard many a scholar saying: Many of the Arabs who did not circumambulate between AlSafa and AlMarwa caid: Our circumambulation between these two hills is an act of ignorance; whereas others among the Ansar said: We have been commanded to circumambulate the House; and not Commanded to run between AlSafa and AlMarwa. So Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; revealed thia verse: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the Signs of Allah. Abu Bakr Bin Abdulrahman said: I think that this verse has been revealed for such and such persons.

    Urwah Bin AlZbair narrated that: Aisha told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say the following supplication in his prayer: Allahumma inni audhu bika min adhab ilqabri wa audhu bika min fitnatil-masihid-dajjal; wa audhu bika min fitnatil-mahya walmamati; Allahumma inni audhu bika min Almathami Almaghram O Allah; I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave; and I seek refuge in You from the tribulation of the AlMasihid-Dajjal; and I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death. O Allah; I seek refuge in You from sin and debt. Someone said to him: How often you seek refuge from debt! He said: If a man gets into debt; when he speaks lies; and when he makes a promise; he betrays it.

    Urwah Bin AlZubair and Ibn Mousayab narrated that Hakim Bin Hizam said: I once asked the Messenger of Allah s.a.w for something and he gave it to me. Then I asked him again and he gave it to me. Then I asked him again and he gave it to me. Then I asked him again ; so he gave it to me. Then he said: O Hakim! Indeed this wealth is green and sweet; so whoever takes it without asking for it; he will be blessed in it. And whoever takes it; insisting upon it; he will not be blessed in it. He is like the one who eats but does not get satisfied and contended. And the upper hand giving is better than the lower hand receiving. So Hakim said: I said: O Messenger of Allah! By the One who sent you with the Truth! I shall not ask anyone for anything after you until I depart the world.So Abu Bakr used to call Hakim to give him something; but he refused to accept it. Then Umar called him to give to him; but he refused to accept it. So Umar said: O you Muslims! I would like you to bear witness that I presented Hakim with his due of these spoils of war but he refused to accept it. So Hakim never asked anyone of the people for anything after the Messenger of Allah; until he died.

    Urwah Bin AlZubair narrated that Aisha said: I did not know until Zainab burst in on me without permission and she was angry. Then she said: O Messenger of Allah; is it enough for you that the young daughter of Abu Bakr waves her hands in front of you? Then she turned to me; but I ignored her until the Prophet said: You should say something to defend yourself. So I turned on her; and replied to her until I saw that her mouth had become dry; and she did not say anything back to me. And I saw the Prophet with his face shining. Hassan.

    Urwah Bin AlZubair narrated that Aisha told him: The Messenger of Allah went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the Masjid; and he quoted the same Hadith; in which he said: nd he encouraged them to pray Qiyam in Ramadan; without insisting on that; and he said: Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer Qiyam out of faith and in the hope of reward; he will be forgiven his previous sins.
