Thereupon he said: Then it would not be closed despite best efforts. We said to Hudhaifa: Did Umar know the door? Thereupon he said: Yes; he knew it for certain just as one knows that night precedes the next day. And I narrated to him something in which there was nothing fabricated. I was more unjust to him than he to me. Humayd Ibn Nafi said; I asked Zaynab to explain what throwing away the piece of dung at the end of a year meant. Zaynab said; In the Aljahiliya when a woman husband died; she went into a small tent and dressed in the worst of clothes. She did not touch perfume or anything until a year had passed. Then she was brought an animal - a donkey; a sheep; or a bird; and she would break her idda with it; by rubbing her body against it taftaddu. Rarely did she break her idda with anything by rubbing herself against it but that it died. Then she would come out and would be given a piece of dung. She would throw it away and then return to whatever she wished of perfumes or whatever. Malik explained; Taftaddu means to wipe her skin with it in the same way as with a healing charm.

When they met him at AlQudum; they murdered him. So I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : Should I return to my people; for he did not leave any dwelling house of his own and maintenance for me? She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied: Yes. She said: I came out; and when I was in the apartment or in the Masjid; he called for me; or he commanded someone to call me and; therefore; I was called. He said: what did you say? So I repeated my story which I had already mentioned about my husband. Thereupon he said: Stay in your house till the term lapses. She said: So I passed my waiting period in it her house for four months and ten days. When Uthman Ibn Affan became caliph; he sent for me and asked me about that; so I informed him; and he followed it and decided cases accordingly.

  Zirr Bin Habaish reported: I thu asked Ubay Bin Kaab Allah be pleased with him : Your brother in faith Ibn Masud says: He who stands for the night prayer throughout the year would find Lailat AlQadr; whereupon he said: May Allah have mercy upon him; he said these words with the intention that people might not rely only on one night ; whereas he knew that it Lailat AlQadr is in the month of Ramadan and it is the twenty-seventh night.
