SahihAlBukhari-017-001-020Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ offered one of the evening prayers the sub-narrator Muhammad said; I think that it was most probably the Asr prayer and he finished it after offering two rakat only. He then stood near a price of wood in front of the Masjid and put his hand over it. Abu Bakr and Umar were amongst those who were present; but they dared not talk to him about that because of excessive respect for him ; and those who were in a hurry went out. They said; Has the prayer been reduced? A man who was called Dhu AlYadain by the Prophet ﷺ said to the Prophet ; Has the prayer been reduced or have you forgotten? He said; Neither have I forgotten; nor has the prayer been reduced. He said; Certainly you have forgotten. So the Prophet ﷺ offered two more rakat and performed Taslim and then said Takbir and performed a prostration of Sahu like his ordinary prostration or a bit longer and then raised his head and said Takbir and then put his head down and performed a prostration like his ordinary prostration or a bit longer; and then raised his head and said Takbir. The Chapter on The Format Of Prostration in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To say Takbir in the prostrations of Sahw in Sahih AlBukhari

She said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ uttered the takbir and the section that was in the same row with him also uttered the takbir. He then bowed and they also bowed; and he prostrated and they also prostrated. Then he raised his head and they also raised their heads. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then remained seated. They prostrated alone and stood up and retraced their footsteps and stood behind them. Then the other section came; they stood up and uttered the takbir and bowed by themselves. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated himself and they also prostrated with him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and they performed the second prostration by themselves. Then both the sections stood up and prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He bowed and they also bowed; and then he prostrated himself and they also prostrated themselves. Then he returned and performed the second prostration and they also prostrated with him as quickly as possible; showing no slackness in quick prostration. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27950Narrated Abu Mousa AlAshari: Hittan Ibn Abdullah AlRuqashi said: Abu Mousa AlAshari led us in prayer. When he sat at the end of his prayer; one of the people said: Prayer has been established by virtue and purity. When Abu Mousa returned from his prayer or finished his prayer ; he gave his attention to the people; and said: Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. Which of you is the speaker of such and such words? The people remained silent. He said: You might have said them; Hittan. He replied: I did not say them. I was afraid you might punish me. One of the people said: I said them and I did not intend by them anything except good. Abu Mousa said: Do you not know how you utter them in your prayer? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us; and taught us and explained to us our way of doing and taught us our prayer. He said: When you pray a congregational prayer; straighten your rows; then one of you should lead you in prayer. When he says the takbir Allah is Most Great ; say the takbir; and when he recites verses Not of those upon whom is Thy anger; nor of those who err i.e. the end of Surah i. ; say Amin; Allah will favour you. When he says Allah is most great; and bows; say Allah is most great and bow; for the imam will bow before you; and will raise his head before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is for that. When he says Allah listens to the one who praises Him; say: O Allah; our Lord; to Thee be praise; Allah be praised; Allah will listen to you; for Allah; the Exalted; said by the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ : Allah listens to the one who praises Him. When he says Allah is most great and prostrates; say: Allah is most great and prostrate; for the imam prostrates before you and raises his head before you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: This is for that. When he sits; each one of you should say The adorations of the tongue; all good things; and acts of worship are due to Allah. Peace be upon you; O Prophet; and Allah mercy and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon Allah upright servants. I testify that there is no god but Allah; and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Apostle. This version of Ahmad does not mention the words and His blessings nor the phrase and I testify; instead; it has the words that Muhammad. The Chapter on Tashahhud While Sitting in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Tashahhud in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27985Narrated AlAzraq Ibn Qays: An imam of ours; whose kunyah surname was Abu Rimthah; led us in prayer and said: I prayed this prayer; or one like it; with the Prophet ﷺ. Abu Bakr and Umar were standing in the front row on his right and there was a man who had been present at the first takbir in the prayer. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ offered the prayer; then gave the salutation to his right and his left so that we saw the whiteness of his cheeks; then turned away as Abu Rimthah meaning himself had done. The man who has been present with him at the first takbir in the prayer then got up to pray another prayer; whereupon Umar leaped up and; seizing him by the shoulders; shook him and said: Sit down; for the People of the Book perished for no other reason than that there was no interval between their prayers. The Prophet ﷺ raised his eyes and said: Allah has made you say what is right; son of AlKhattab.Abu Dawud said: Sometimes the name of Abu Umayah is narrated instead of Abu Rimthah. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Enemies in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on A Person Praying Voluntary Prayers In The Same Place That He Prayed The Obligatory Prayer in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27986Abu Huraira said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in one of the evening Asha prayers; noon or afternoon. He led us in two Rakahs and gave the salutation. He then got up going towards a piece of wood which was placed in the front part of the Masjid. He placed his hands upon it; one on the other; looking from his face as if he were angry. The people came out hastily saying: the prayer has been shortened. Abu Bakr and Umar were among the people; but they were too afraid to speak to him. A man whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would call the possessor of arms Dhu AlYadain stood up asking him : Have you forgotten. The Messenger of Allah; or has the prayer been shortened? He said: I have neither forgotten nor has it been shortened. He said : Messenger of Allah ; you have forgotten. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned towards the people and asked : did the possessor of arms speak the truth? They made a sign ; that is; yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned to his place and prayed the remaining two Rakahs; then gave the salutation; he then uttered the takbir and prostrated himself as usual or prolonged. He then raised his head and uttered the takbir; then he uttered the takbir and made prostration as usual or made longer prostration. Then he raised his head his and uttered the takbir Allah is most great. The narrator Muhammad was asked : Did he give the salutation while prostrating dueto forgetfulness? He said : I do not remember it from Abu Huraira. But we Are sure that Imran Bin Hosain in his version said; he then gave the salutation. The Chapter on Tashahhud Raising From Prostration in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Prostrating For Forgetfulness After The Two Prostrations Rakah in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27987This tradition has been narrated through a different chain of transmitters; but the version of Hammad is more perfect. This version goes; then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed; it does not have the words; led us in prayer ; nor the words they made a sign. Thereupon the people said : Yes. He then raised his head. The version does not mention the words he uttered the takbir. He then uttered the takbir and made the prostration as usual or prolonged it. He then raised his head. The narrator then prostration as usual or prolonged it. He then raised his head. The narrator then finished the tradition and did not mention the words that follow it. He did not mention the words they made a sign; but Hammad Bin Zaid mentioned them in his version.Abu dawud said: Anyone who narrated this tradition did not mention the words then he uttered the takbir; nor the words he returnedThe Chapter on Tashahhud Raising From Prostration in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Prostrating For Forgetfulness After The Two Prostrations Rakah in Sunan Abu Dawoud

MuwataMalik-017-001-35433Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from Abdullah Ibn AlMughira Ibn Abi Burda AlKinani that he had heard that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; came to the people in their tribes and made dua for them; but left out one of the tribes. Abdullah related; The tribe found an onyx necklace in the saddle-bags of one of their men. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; came to them; and then did the takbir over them as one does the takbir over the dead. The Chapter on Arab Tribes Treaty In Makkah in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Divorce in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35716Yahya related to me from Malik from Abun Nadr; the mawla of Umar Ibn Ubaydullah; from Malik Ibn Abi Amir that Uthman Ibn Affan used to say in khutbas; and he would seldom omit it if he was giving the khutba; When the imam stands delivering the khutba on the day of jumua; listen and pay attention; for there is the same portion for someone who pays attention but cannot hear as for someone who pays attention and hears. And when the iqama of the prayer is called; straighten your rows and make your shoulders adjacent to each other; because the straightening of the rows is part of the completion of the prayer. Then he would not say the takbir until some men who had been entrusted with straightening the rows came and told him that they were straight. Then he would say the takbir. The Chapter on Prayers Rows And Front Facing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hajj in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-35948Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said that he had heard that on the day after the day of sacrifice Umar Ibn AlKhattab went out a little after the sun had risen and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a second time the same day when the sun was well up and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him. Then he went out a third time after mid-day and said the takbir; and everyone repeated it after him until it resounded from group to group until it reached the House and people knew that Umar had left to throw the stones. Malik said; What we do here in Madina is to say the takbir during the days of tashriq after each prayer. The first time is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after the dhuhr prayer on the day of sacrifice; and the last is when the imam and everyone with him says the takbir after subh on the last of the days of tashriq; after which he stops saying the takbir. Malik said; The takbirs during the days of tashriq should be done by both men and women; whether they are in a group or by themselves; at Mina or elsewhere; and all of the takbirs should be done. In this everyone follows the imam of the hajj and the people at Mina; because when everyone returns to Makka and comes out of ihram they keep the same people as imams while out of ihram as they did when they were in ihram. Some one who is not doing hajj does not follow them except for the takbirs during the days of tashriq. Malik said; The limited number of days are the days of tashriq. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Supplication in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Business Transactions in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36024Yahya related to me from Malik that Ibn Shihab used to say; When a man catches the raka he says; Allah is greater once; and that takbir is enough for him. Malik added; That is if he intended to begin the prayer by that takbir Malik was asked about a man who began with the imam but forgot the opening takbir and the takbir of the ruku until he had done one raka. Then he remembered that he had not said the takbir at the opening nor in the ruku;so he said the takbir in the second raka. He said; I prefer that he start his prayer again; but if he forgets the opening takbir with the imam and says the takbir in the first ruku; I consider that enough for him if he intends by it the opening takbir. Malik said; about some one who prayed by himself and forgot the opening takbir; He begins his prayer afresh. Malik said; about an imam who forgot the opening takbir until he had finished his prayer; I think that he should do the prayer again; and those behind him; even if they have said the takbir. The Chapter on Tashahhud And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
