SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1423Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: The Prophet ﷺ took a room made of date palm leaves mats in the Masjid. Allah Messenger ﷺ prayed in it for a few nights till the people gathered to pray the night prayer Tarawih behind him. Then on the 4th night the people did not hear his voice and they thought he had slept; so some of them started humming in order that he might come out. The Prophet ﷺ then said; You continued doing what I saw you doing till I was afraid that this Tarawih prayer might be enjoined on you; and if it were enjoined on you; you would not continue performing it. Therefore; O people! Perform your prayers at your homes; for the best prayer of a person is what is performed at his home except the compulsory congregational prayer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3915Narrated Anas: Allah Messenger ﷺ did not use to raise his hands in his invocations except in the Istisqa i.e. invoking Allah for the rain in which he used to raise his hands so high that one could see the whiteness of his armpits. Note: It may be that Anas did not see the prophet as raising his hands but it has been narrated that the Prophet as used to raise his hands for invocations other than Istisqa. See Hadith No. 612 Vol. 5. and Hadith No. 807 & 808 Vol 2.The Chapter on Hand Gestures Raising The Hands in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The description of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6170Narrated Ubaidullah Bin Abdullah: Ibn Abbas said; When the ailment of the Prophet ﷺ became worse; he said; Bring for me writing paper and I will write for you a statement after which you will not go astray. But Umar said; The Prophet is seriously ill; and we have got Allah Book with us and that is sufficient for us. But the companions of the Prophet ﷺ differed about this and there was a hue and cry. On that the Prophet ﷺ said to them; Go away and leave me alone. It is not right that you should quarrel in front of me. Ibn Abbas came out saying; It was most unfortunate a great disaster that Allah Messenger ﷺ was prevented from writing that statement for them because of their disagreement and noise. Note: It is apparent from this Hadith that Ibn Abbas had witnessed the event and came out saying this statement. The truth is not so; for Ibn Abbas used to say this statement on narrating the Hadith and he had not witnessed the event personally. See Fath AlBari Vol. 1; p.220 footnote. See Hadith No. 228; Vol. 4.The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Liars in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The writing of knowledge in Sahih AlBukhari
