I asked the Messenger ofAllah about it and hesaid Enjoin good upon one another andforbid one another to do evil but if you see overwhelmingstinginess desires being followed thisworld being preferred tothe Hereafter every person with an opinionfeeling proud of it andyou realize that you have no power to dealwith it then you have tomind your own business and leave the commonfolk to their owndevices
  62. After you will come days of patience during which patiencewill be like grasping a burning ember and onewho does good deedswill have a reward like that of fifty men doingthe same deed

It was narrated that Abdullah Bin Umar said The MessengerofAllah turned to us and said O Muhajirun there are fivethingswith which you will be tested and I seek refuge with Allahlest youlive to see them Immorality never appears among a people tosuch anextent that they commit it openly but plagues and diseasesthat werenever known among the predecessors will spread among them

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heardthat when the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant himpeace and his companions came out of ihram at al Hudaybiya theysacrificed their sacrificial animals and shaved their heads and werefreed from all the restrictions of ihram without having done tawaf ofthe House and without their sacrificial animals reaching the Kaba

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah ibnUmar set out for Makka during the troubles between al Hajjaj ibnYusuf and Zubair ibn al Awwam he said If I am blocked from going tothe House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger ofAllah may Allah bless him and grant him peace and he went intoihram for umra because that was what the Messenger of Allah mayAllah bless him and grant him peace did in the year of al Hudaybiya

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ayyub ibn Abi Tamima as Sakhtayani that a very old man from Basra once said to him I set outfor Makka but on the way there I broke my thigh so I sent a messageon to Makka Abdullah ibn Abbas and Abdullah ibn Umar and the peoplewere there but no one allowed me to leave ihram and I stayed therefor seven months until I left ihram by doing an umra

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibnAbdullah that Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakras Siddiq toldAbdullah ibn Umar from A isha that the Prophet may Allah bless himand grant him peace said Don t you see that when your people builtthe Kaba they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim A isha said Messenger of Allah won t you return it to the foundations ofIbrahim and the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and granthim peace said If it were not that your people have only recentlyleft kufr I would have done so

Salim ibn Abdullah saidthat Abdullah ibn Umar said If A isha heard this from the Messengerof Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace then I considerthat the Messenger of Allah may Allah bless him and grant him peace only refrained from greeting the two corners which are adjacent to theHijr because the House had not been completed on the foundations ofIbrahim

Maliksaid That is in our opinion but Allah knows best that forinstance a man buys a slave or slave girl or rents an animal and thensays to the person from whom he bought the slave or leased the animal I will give you a dinar or a dirham or whatever on the condition thatif I actually take the goods or ride what I have rented from you thenwhat I have given you already goes towards payment of the goods orhire of the animal

Malik said that in a transaction where a slave orslave girl was bought for one hundred dinars with a stated creditperiod that if the seller regretted the sale there was nothing wrongin him asking the buyer to revoke it for ten dinars which he would payhim immediately or after a period and he would forgo his right to thehundred dinars which he was owed
  74. It is disapproved of because it is as if forinstance the seller is buying the one hundred dinars which is not yetdue on a year s credit term before the year expires for a slave girland ten dinars to be paid immediately or on credit term longer thanthe year
  75. Malik said that it was notproper for a man to sell a slave girl to another man for one hundreddinars on credit and then to buy her back for more than the originalprice or on a credit term longer than the original term for which hesold her
  76. To understand why that was disapproved of in that case theexample of a man who sold a slave girl on credit and then bought herback on a credit term longer than the original term was looked at
  77. Theoutcome would only be that his goods would have returned to him justlike they were and the other party would have given him thirty dinarson a month s credit against sixty dinars on a year or half a year scredit
  78. A free loan which youlend by which you desire the pleasure of your companion so you havethe pleasure of your companion and a free loan which you lend bywhich you take what is impure by what is pure and that is usury
  79. He continued No zakat has tobe paid on animal fodder or herbs and vegetables of any kind andthere is no zakat to pay on the price realised on their sale until ayear has elapsed over it from the day of sale which counts as the timethe owner receives the sum
