If Allah had so willed, succeeding generations would not have fought among each other, after clear (Signs) had come to them, but they (chose) to wrangle, some believing and others rejecting. If Allah had so willed, they would not have fought each other; but Allah Fulfilleth His plan.

So what do you advise me regarding it? The Prophet ﷺ said; If you wish you can keep it as an endowment to be used for charitable purposes. So; Umar gave the land in charity i.e. as an endowments on the condition that the land would neither be sold nor given as a present; nor bequeathed; and its yield would be used for the poor; the kinsmen; the emancipation of slaves; Jihad; and for guests and travelers; and its administrator could eat in a reasonable just manner; and he also could feed his friends without intending to be wealthy by its means. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4122		Narrated Ibn Umar: Umar Bin AlKhattab got some land in Khaibar and he went to the Prophet ﷺ to consult him about it saying; O Allah Messenger ﷺ I got some land in Khaibar better than which I have never had; what do you suggest that I do with it? The Prophet ﷺ said; If you like you can give the land as endowment and give its fruits in charity. So Umar gave it in charity as an endowment on the condition that would not be sold nor given to anybody as a present and not to be inherited; but its yield would be given in charity to the poor people; to the Kith and kin; for freeing slaves; for Allah Cause; to the travelers and guests; and that there would be no harm if the guardian of the endowment ate from it according to his need with good intention; and fed others without storing it for the future. SahihMuslim-017-001-18045		It has been narrated by Urwa b AlZubair on the authority of Aisha; wife of the Prophet ﷺ ; that Fatima; daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; requested Abu Bakr; after the death of the Messenger of Allah may peace he upon him ; that he should set apart her share from what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had left from the properties that God had bestowed upon him. Abu Bakr said to her: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: We do not have any heirs; what we leave behind is Sadaqa charity. The narrator said: She Fatima lived six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and she used to demand from Abu Bakr her share from the legacy of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Khaibar; Fadak and his charitable endowments at Medina. Abu Bakr refused to give her this; and said: I am not going to give up doing anything which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do. I am afraid that it I go against his instructions in any matter I shall deviate from the right course. So far as the charitable endowments at Medina were concerned; Umar handed them over to Ali and Abbas; but Ali got the better of him and kept the property under his exclusive possession. And as far as Khaibar and Fadak were concerned Umar kept them with him; and said: These are the endowments of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the Umma. Their income was spent on the discharge of the responsibilities that devolved upon him on the emergencies he had to meet. And their management was to be in the hands of one who managed the affairs of the Islamic State. The narrator said: They have been managed as such up to this day. SahihMuslim-017-001-18239		Hudhaifa Allah be pleased with him reported: A servant from amongst the servants of Allah was brought to Him whom Allah had endowed with riches. He Allah said to him: What did you do in the world? They cannot conceal anything from Allah He the person said: O my Lord; You endowed me with Your riches. I used to enter into transactions with people. It was my nature to be lenient to my debtors. I showed leniency to the solvent and gave respite to the insolvent; whereupon Allah said: I have more right than you to do this to connive at My servant. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28966		Narrated Yahya Bin Said: Abd AlHamid Bin Abdullah Bin Abdullah Bin Umar Bin AlKhattab copied to me a document about the religious endowment waqf made by Umar Bin AlKhattab : In the name of Allah; the Compassionate; the Merciful. This is what Allah servant Umar has written about Thamgh. He narrated the tradition like the one transmitted by Nafi. He added: provided he is not storing up goods for himself. The surplus fruit will be devoted to the beggar and the deprived. He then went on with the tradition; saying: If the man in charge of Thamgh wishes to buy a slave for his work for its fruits by selling them ; he may do so. Muiqib penned it and Abdullah Bin AlArqam witnessed it : In the name of Allah; the Compassionate; the Merciful. This is what Allah servant Umar ; Commander of Faithful; directed; in case of some incident happens to him i.e. he dies ; that Thamg; Sirmah Bin AlAkwa; the servant who is there; the hundred shares in the land of Khaibr; the servant who is there and the hundred sahres which Muhammad ﷺ had donated to me in the valley nearly will remain in the custody of Hafsah during her life; then the men of opinion from her family will be in charge of these endowments ; that these will neither be sold not purchased; spending its produce where they think necessary on the beggar; deprived and relatives. There is no harm to the one in charge of this endowment if he eats himself; or feeds; or buys slaves with it.
