SahihMuslim-017-001-18104 | It has been narrated by Ibrahim AlTaimi on the authority of his father who said: We were sitting in the company of Hudhaifa. A man said: If I were in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I would have fought by his side and would have striven hard for his causes. Hudhaifa said: You might have done that; but you should not make a flourish of your enthusiasm. I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the Battle of Abzib and we were gripped by a violent wind and severe cold. The Messenger of Allah may peace be him said: Hark; the man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. We all kept quiet and none of us responed to him. Again he said: Hark; a man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. I saw Abu Sufyan warming his back against fire I put an arrow in the middle of the bow. intending to shoot at him; when I recalled the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Do not provoke them against me. Had I shot at him; I would have hit him. But I returned and felt warm as if I were walking in a heated bath hammam. Presenting myself before him; I gave him information about the enemy. When I had done so; I began to feel cold; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrapped me in a blanket that he had in excess to his own requirement and with which he used to cover himself while saying his prayers. So I continued to sleep until it was morning. SahihMuslim-017-001-18750 | Abdullah Bin Masud reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: I know the last of the inhabitants of Fire to be taken out therefrom; and the last of the inhabitants of Paradise to enter it. A man will come out of the Fire crawling. Then Allah; the Blessed and Exalted will say to him: Go and enter Paradise. So he would come to it and it would appear to him as if it were full. He would go back and say: O my Lord! I found it full. Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; would say to him: Go and enter Paradise. He would come and perceive as if it were full. He would return and say: O my Lord! I found it full. Allah would say to him: Go and enter Paradise; for there is for you the like of the world and ten times like it; or for you is ten times the like of this world. He the narrator said. He that man would say: Art Thou making a fun of me? or Art Thou laughing at me. though Thou art the King? He the narrator said: I saw the Messenger of Allah laugh till his front teeth were visible. SahihMuslim-017-001-19044 | Masruq reported: We were sitting in the company of Abdullah and he was lying on the bed that a person came and said: Abd Abd AlRabmin; a story-teller at the gates of Kinda says that the verse of the Quran which deals with the smoke implies that which is about to come and it would hold the breath of the infidels and would inflict the believers with cold. Thereupon Abdullah got up and said in anger. O people; fear Allah and say only that which one knows amongst you and do not say which he does not know and he should simply say: Allah has the best knowledge for He has the best knowledge amongst all of you. It does not behove him to say that which he does not know. Allah has the best knowledge of it. Verily Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; said to His Prophet ﷺ to state: I do not ask from you any remuneration and I am not the one to put you in trouble; and when Allah Mesqenger ﷺ saw people turning back from religion he said: O Allah; afflict thern with seven famines as was done in the case of Yousif; so they were afflicted with famine by which they were forced to eat everything until they were obliged to eat the hides and the dead bodies because of hunger; and every one of them looked towards the sky and he found a smoke. And Abu Sufyan came and he said: Muhammad; you have come to command us to obey Allah and cement the ties of blood- relation whereas your people are undone; supplicate Allah for tlicm. Thereupon Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; said: Wait for the day when there would be clear smoke from the sky which would envelop people and that would be grievous torivent up to the words: you are going to return to evil. if this verse implied the torment of the next life could the chastisement of the next life be averted as the Quran states : On the day when We seize them with the most violent seizing; surely We shall exact retribution xliv. 16 ? SahihMuslim-017-001-19224 | Abdullah Bin Umar reported: Umar Bin AlKhattab went along with Allah Messenger ﷺ in the company of some persons to Ibn Sayad that he found him playing with children near the battlement of Bani Maghala and Ibn Sayad was at that time just at the threshold of adolescence and he did not perceive the presence of Holy Prophet until Allah Messenger ﷺ struck his back with his hands. Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Ibn Sayad; dont you bear witness that I am the messenger of Allah? Ibn Sayad looked toward him and he said: I bear witness to the fact that you the messenger of the unlettered. Ibn Sayad said to the Allah Messenger ﷺ : Do you bear witness to the fact that I am the messenger of Allah? Allah Messenger ﷺ rejected this and said: I affirm my faith in Allah and in His messengers. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said to him: What do you see? Ibn Sayad said: It is a Dukh. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May you be disgraced and dishonoured; you would not not be able to go beyond your rank. Umar Bin AlKhattab said: Allah Messenger; permit me that I should strike his neck. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: If he is the same Dajjal who would appear near the Last Hour; you would not be able to overpower him; and if he is not that there is no good for you to kill him. Abdullah Bin Umar further narrated that after some time Allah Messenger ﷺ and Ubay Bin Kaab went towards the palm trees where Ibn Sayad was. When Allah Messenger ﷺ went near the tree he hid himself behind a tree with the intention of hearing something from Ibn sayad before Ibn Sayad could see him; but Allah Messenger ﷺ saw him on a bed with a blanket around him from which a murmuring sound was being heard and Ibn Sayad mother saw Allah Messenger ﷺ behind the trunk of the palm tree. She said to Ibn Sayad: Saf that being his name ; here is Muhammad. Thereupon Ibn Sayad jumped up murmuring and Allah Messenger ﷺ said: If she had left him alone he would have made things clear. Abdullah Bin Umar told that Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up amongst the people and lauded Allah as He deserved; then he made a mention of the Dajjal and said: I warn you of him and there is no Prophet who has not warned his people against the Dajjal. Even Noah warned against him but I am going to tell you a thing which no Prophet told his people. You must know that he the Dajjal is one-eyed and Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; is not one-eyed. SahihMuslim-017-001-20647 | mousab Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father that many verses of the Quran had been revealed in connection with him. His mother Umm Saad had taken oath that she would never talk with him until he abandoned his faith and she neither ate nor drank and said: Allah has commanded you to treat well your parents and I am your mother and I command you to do this. She passed three days in this state until she fainted because of extreme hunger and at that time her son whose name was Umara stood up and served her drink and she began to curse Saad that Allah; the Exalted and Glorions; revealed these verses of the Holy Quran: And We have enjoined upon a person goodness to his parents but if they contend with thee to associate others with Me of which you have no knowledge; then obey them not xxix. 8 ; Treat thein with customary good in this world xxxi. 15. He also reported that there fell to the lot of Allah Messenger ﷺ huge spoils of war and there was one sword in them. I picked that up and came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Bestow this sword upon me as my share in the spoils of war and you know my state. Thereupon he said: Return it to the place from where you picked it up. I went back until I decided to throw it in a store but my soul repulsed me so I came back and asked him to give that sword to me. He said in a loud voice to return it to the place from where I had picked it up. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: They asked about the spoils of war viii. 1. He further said: I once fell ill and sent a message to Allah Apostle ﷺ. He visited me and I said to him: Permit me to distribute in charity my property as much as I like. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute half of it. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute the third part; whereupon he kept quiet and it was after this that the distribution of one property in charity to the extent of one-third was held valid. He further said: I came to a group of persons of the Ansir and Muhajirin and they said: Come; so that we may serve you wine; and it was before the use of wine had been prohibited. I went to them in a garden and there had been with them the roasted head of a camel and a small water-skin containing wine. I ate and drank along with them and there came under discussion the Ansr Helpers and Muhajirin immigrants. I said: The immigrants are better than the Ansar; that a person picked up a portion of the head of the camel and struck me with it that my nose was injured. SahihMuslim-017-001-22995 | Urwa Bin Zabair reported: I said to Aisha; the wife of Allah Apostle ﷺ : I do not see any fault in one who does not circumambl te between AlSafa and AlMarwa; and I do not mind if I do not circumambulate between them; whereupon she said: O; the son of my sister; what you say is wrong. Allah Messenger ﷺ observed Sai and so did the Muslims. So it is a Sunnah of the Prophet. And it was a common practice with the pagan Arabs that those who pronounced Talbiya for the wretched AlManat; situated at Mushalla; did not observe Sai between AlSafa and AlMarwa. With the advent of Islam; we asked Allah Apostle ﷺ about this practice; and it was on this occasion that Allah; the Exalted and Majestic; revealed this verse: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the Signs of Allah ; so he who performed Hajj or Umra it is no sin on him if he circumambulates them. And if it were as you state; then the wording would have been : There is no harm for him; that he should not circumambulate round them. Zuhri said: I made a mention of that to Abu Bakr Bin Abdulrahman Bin AlHarith Bin Hisham; he was impressed by that and said: This is what is called knowledge. And I have heard many a scholar saying: Many of the Arabs who did not circumambulate between AlSafa and AlMarwa caid: Our circumambulation between these two hills is an act of ignorance; whereas others among the Ansar said: We have been commanded to circumambulate the House; and not Commanded to run between AlSafa and AlMarwa. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24900 | Aisha wife of the Prophet ﷺ and Umm Salamah said Abu Hudaifah Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah Bin Abd Shams adopted Salim as his son and married him to his niece Hind; daughter of AlWalid Bin Utbah Bin Rabiah. He Salim was the freed slave of a woman from the Ansar the Helpers as the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ adopted Zaid as his son. In pre Islamic days when anyone adopted a man as his son; the people called him by his name and he was given a share from his inheritance. Allaah; the Exalted; revealed about this matter Call them by the name of their fathers; that is juster in the sight of Allaah. And if ye know not their fathers; then they are your brethren in the faith and your clients. They were then called by their names of their fathers. A man; whose father was not known; remained under the protection of someone and considered brother in faith. Sahlah daughter of Suhail Bin Amr AlQuraishi then came and said Apostle of Allaah ﷺ ; we used to consider Salim our son. He dwelled with me and Abu Hudhaifah in the same house; and he saw me in the short clothes; but Allaah the Exalted; has revealed about them what you know; then what is your opinion about him? The Prophet ﷺ said give him your breast feed. She gave him five breast feeds. He then became like her foster son. Hence; Aisha may Allaah be pleased with her used to ask the daughters of her sisters and the daughters of her brethren to give him breast feed five times; whom Aisha wanted to see and who wanted to visit her. Though he might be of age; he then visited her. But Umm Salamah and all other wives of the Prophet ﷺ refused to allow anyone to visit them on the basis of such breast feeding unless one was given breast feed during infancy. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25655 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to perform hajj. A woman said to her husband: Let me perform hajj along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: I have nothing on which I can let you perform hajj. She said: You may perform hajj on your such-and-such camel. He said: That is dedicated to the cause of Allah; the Exalted. He then came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: My wife has conveyed her greetings and the blessings of Allah to you. She has asked about performing hajj along with you. She said to me : Let me perform hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I said to her : I have nothing upon which I can let you perform hajj. She said: Let me perform hajj on your such-and-such camel. I said: That is dedicated to the cause of Allah; The Exalted. He replied: If you let her perform hajj on it; that would be in the cause of Allah. He said: She has also requested me to ask you: What is that action which is equivalent to performing hajj with you? SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27484 | Narrated Muadh Ibn Jabal: Prayer passed through three stages and fasting also passed through three stages. The narrator Nasr reported the rest of the tradition completely. The narrator; Ibn AlMuthanna; narrated the story of saying prayer facing in the direction of Jerusalem. He said: The third stage is that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina and prayed; i.e. facing Jerusalem; for thirteen months. Then Allah; the Exalted; revealed the verse: We have seen thee turning thy face to Heaven for guidance; O Muhammad. And now verily We shall make thee turn in prayer toward a qiblah which is dear to thee. So turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship; and ye O Muslims ; wherever ye may be; turn your face when ye pray toward it ii.144. And Allah; the Reverend and the Majestic; turned them towards the Kabah. He the narrator completed his tradition. The narrator; Nasr; mentioned the name of the person who had the dream; saying: And Abdullah Ibn Zayd; a man from the Ansar; came. The same version reads: And he turned his face towards the qiblah and said: Allah is most great; Allah is most great; I testify that there is no god but Allah; I testify that there is no god but Allah; I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; come to prayer he pronounced it twice ; come to salvation he pronounced it twice ; Allah is Most Great; Allah is most great. He then paused for a while; and then got up and pronounced in a similar way; except that after the phrase Come to salvation he added. The time for prayer has come; the time for prayer has come. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Teach it to Bilal; then pronounce the adhan call to prayer with the same words. As regards fasting; he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast for three days every month; and would fast on the tenth of Muharram. Then Allah; the Exalted; revealed the verse:.......Fasting was prescribed for those before you; that ye may ward off evil......and for those who can afford it there is a ransom: the feeding of a man in need ii.183-84. If someone wished to keep the fast; he would keep the fast; if someone wished to abandon the fast; he would feed an indigent every day; it would do for him. But this was changed. Allah; the Exalted; revealed: The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran.......... let him fast the same number of other days ii.185. Hence the fast was prescribed for the one who was present in the month of Ramadan and the traveller was required to atone for them ; feeding the indigent was prescribed for the old man and woman who were unable to fast. He should wash his face and hands up to the elbows; and wipe his head and wash his feet up to the ankles. Then he should exalt Allah and praise Him. MuwataMalik-017-001-35209 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said that a man who pronounced a dhihar from his four wives in one statement; had only to do one kaffara. Yahya related the same as that to me from Malik from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman Malik said; That is what is done among us. Allah; the Exalted said about the kaffara for pronouncing dhihar; It is to free a slave before they touch one another. If he does not find the means to do that; then fasting for two consecutive months before they touch one another. If he cannot do that; it is to feed sixty poor people. Surat 58 ayats 4;5. Malik said that a man who pronounced dhihar from his wife on various occasions had only to do one kaffara. If he pronounced dhihar; and then did kaffara; and then pronounced dhihar after he had done the kaffara; he had to do kaffara again. Malik said; Some one who pronounces dhihar from his wife and then has intercourse with her before he has done kaffara; only has to do one kaffara. He must abstain from her until he does kaffara and ask forgiveness of Allah. That is the best of what I have heard. Malik said; It is the same with dhihar using any prohibited relations of fosterage and ancestry. Malik said; Women have no dhihar. Malik said that he had heard that the commentary on the word of Allah; the Blessed; the Exalted; Those of you who pronounce the dhihar about their wives; and then retract what they have said; Surat 56 ayat 3 ; was that a man pronounced dhihar on his wife and then decided to keep her and have intercourse with her. If he decided on that; he must do kaffara. If he divorced her and did not decide to retract his dhihar of her and to keep her and have intercourse with her; there would be no kaffara incumbent on him. Maliksaid; If he marries her after that; he does not touch her until he has completed the kaffara of pronouncing dhihar. Malik said that if a man who pronounced dhihar from his slave-girl wanted to have intercourse with her; he had to do the kaffara of the dhihar before he could sleep with her. MuwataMalik-017-001-35722 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had asked Ibn Shihab about the word of Allah; the Majestic; the Mighty; O you who accept; when the call is made for the prayer on the day of jumua; make haste to the remembrance of Allah. Surat 62 ayat 9. Ibn Shihab said; Umar Ibn AlKhattab used to recite; When the call is made for the prayer on the day of jumua; go to the remembrance of Allah. Malik said; Making haste in the Book of Allah is only deed and action. Allah the Blessed; the Exalted; says and when he turns away; he acts in the land Surat 2 ayat 205 ; and He; the Exalted; said; and as for the one who comes to you acting with fear Surat 80 ayat 8 ; and He said; then he turned his back; and acted Surat 79 ayat 22 ;and He said; Your deeds are diverse Surat 92 ayat 4. MuwataMalik-017-001-35864 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that his father said; Once when I was young I said to Aisha; umm Almuminin; Have you seen the saying of Allah; the Blessed and Exalted; Safa and Marwa are among the waymarks of Allah; so whoever does hajj or umra to the House; there is no harm in his going between them; so it follows that there should be no harm for some one who does not go between them. Aisha said; No. If it were as you say; there would be no harm in his not going between them. This ayat was only revealed about the Ansar. MuwataMalik-017-001-35910 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham Ibn Urwa that Abdullah Ibn AlZubair used to say; Know that the whole of Arafa is a standing-place except for the middle of Urana; and that the wholeof Muzdalifa is a standing-place except for the middle of Muhassir. Malik said; Allah; the Blessed and Exalted says; There is to be no rafath; no fusuq and no jidal during the hajj. Surat 2 ayat 197. He added; Rafath is sexual relations with women; and Allah knows best. Allah; the Blessed and Exalted says; Rafath with your women is permitted to you on the night of the fast. Surat 2 ayat 197. MuwataMalik-017-001-36042 | Yahya related to me from Malik from AlAla Ibn Abdulrahman Ibn Yaqub that he heard Abus-Saib; the mawla of Hisham Ibn Zuhra; say he had heard Abu Huraira say; I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say; Whoever prays a prayer without reciting the umm AlQuran in it; his prayer is aborted; it is aborted; it is aborted; incomplete. So I said; Abu Huraira; sometimes I am behind the imam.Hepulled my forearm and said; Recite it to yourself; O Persian; for I heard the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; say that Allah the Blessed; the Exalted; said; I have divided the prayer into two halves between me and my slave. One half of it is for Me and one half of it is for IVly slave; and My slave has what he asks. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Recite.
