SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1513 | Narrated Zahdam AlJarmi: We were sitting with Abu Mousa AlAshsari; and as there were ties of friendship and mutual favors between us and his tribe. His meal was presented before him and there was chicken meat in it. Among those who were present there was a man from Bani Taimillah having a red complexion as a non-Arab freed slave; and that man did not approach the meal. Abu Mousa said to him; Come along! I have seen Allah Messenger ﷺ eating of that i.e.; chicken. The man said; I have seen it chickens eating something I regarded as dirty; and so I have taken an oath that I shall not eat its meat chicken. Abu Mousa said; Come along! I will inform you about it i.e.; your oath. Once we went to Allah Messenger ﷺ in company with a group of Ashairiyin; asking him for mounts while he was distributing some camels from the camels of Zakat. Ayoub said; I think he said that the Prophet was in an angry mood at the time. The Prophet ﷺ said; By Allah! I will not give you mounts; and I have nothing to mount you on. After we had left; some camels of booty were brought to Allah Apostle and he said; Where are those Ashariyin? Where are those Ashariyin? So we went to him and he gave us five very fat good-looking camels. We mounted them and went away; and then I said to my companions; We went to Allah Messenger ﷺ to give us mounts; but he took an oath that he would not give us mounts; and then later on he sent for us and gave us mounts; perhaps Allah Messenger ﷺ forgot his oath. By Allah; we will never be successful; for we have taken advantage of the fact that Allah Messenger ﷺ forgot to fulfill his oath. So let us return to Allah Messenger ﷺ to remind him of his oath. We returned and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We came to you and asked you for mounts; but you took an oath that you would not give us mounts but later on you gave us mounts; and we thought or considered that you have forgotten your oath. The Prophet ﷺ said; Depart; for Allah has given you Mounts. By Allah; Allah willing; if I take an oath and then later find another thing better than that; I do what is better; and make expiation for the oath. two other narrations through Zahdam as above | The Chapter on Journeys And Travel And Oaths in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To make expiation for ones oath in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6139 | Narrated Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAas: Allah Messenger ﷺ stopped for a while near the Jimar at Mina during his last Hajj for the people and they were asking him questions. A man came and said; I forgot and got my head shaved before slaughtering the Hadi sacrificing animal. The Prophet ﷺ said; There is no harm; go and do the slaughtering now. Then another person came and said; I forgot and slaughtered the camel before Rami throwing of the pebbles at the Jamra. The Prophet ﷺ said; Do the Rami now and there is no harm. The narrator added: So on that day; when the Prophet ﷺ was asked about anything as regards the ceremonies of Hajj performed before or after its due time; his reply was: Do it now and there is no harm. | The Chapter on Shaving The Head And Aljamarat in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To give a religious verdict while riding an animal or standing on anything else in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7039 | Narrated Saeed Bin Jubair: I said to Ibn Abbas; Nauf AlBikali claims that Moses; the companion of AlKhadir was not the Moses of the children of Israel Ibn Abbas said; The enemy of Allah Nauf told a lie. Narrated Ubai Bin Kaab that he heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; Moses got up to deliver a speech before the children of Israel and he was asked; Who is the most learned person among the people? Moses replied; I am the most learned. Allah admonished him for he did not ascribe knowledge to Allah alone. So Allah revealed to him: At the junction of the two seas there is a slave of Ours who is more learned than you. Moses asked; O my Lord; how can I meet him? Allah said; Take a fish and put it in a basket and set out ; and where you; will lose the fish; you will find him. So Moses took a fish and put it in a basket and set out; along with his boy-servant Yusha Bin Noon; till they reached a rock on which they both lay their heads and slept. The fish moved vigorously in the basket and got out of it and fell into the sea and there it took its way through the sea straight as in a tunnel. 18.61 Allah stopped the current of water on both sides of the way created by the fish; and so that way was like a tunnel. When Moses got up; his companion forgot to tell him about the fish; and so they carried on their journey during the rest of the day and the whole night. The next morning Moses asked his boy-servant Bring us our early meal; no doubt; we have suffered much fatigue in this journey of ours. 18.62 Moses did not get tired till he had passed the place which Allah had ordered him to seek after. His boy-servant then said to him; Do you remember when we be-took ourselves to the rock I indeed forgot the fish; none but Satan made me forget to remember it. It took its course into the sea in a marvelous way. 18.63 There was a tunnel for the fish and for Moses and his boy-servant there was astonishment. Moses said; That is what we have been seeking. So they went back retracing their footsteps. 18.64 They both returned; retracing their steps till they reached the rock. Behold ! There they found a man covered with a garment. Moses greeted him. AlKhadir said astonishingly. Is there such a greeting in your land? Moses said; I am Moses. He said; Are you the Moses of the children of Israel? Moses said; I have come to you so that you may teach me of what you have been taught. AlKhadir said; You will not be able to have patience with me. 18.66 O Moses! I have some of Allah knowledge which He has bestowed upon me but you do not know it; and you too; have some of Allah knowledge which He has bestowed upon you; but I do not know it. Moses said; Allah willing; you will find me patient; and I will not disobey you in anything. 18.6 AlKhadir said to him. If you then follow me; do not ask me about anything until I myself speak to you concerning it. 18.70 ; After that both of them proceeded along the sea coast; till a boat passed by and they requested the crew to let them go on board. The crew recognized AlKhadir and allowed them to get on board free of charge. When they got on board suddenly Moses saw that AlKhadir had pulled out one of the planks of the boat with an adze. Moses said to him. These people gave us a free lift; yet you have scuttled their boat so as to drown its people! Truly; you have done a dreadful thing. 18.71 AlKhadir said; Didnt I say that you can have no patience with me ? 18.72 Moses said; Call me not to account for what I forgot and be not hard upon me for my affair with you. 18.73 Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The first excuse given by Moses; was that he had forgotten. Then a sparrow came and sat over the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once in the sea. AlKhadir said to Moses; My knowledge and your knowledge; compared to Allah knowledge is like what this sparrow has taken out of the sea. Then they both got out of the boat; and while they were walking on the sea shore; AlKhadir saw a boy playing with other boys. AlKhadir got hold of the head of that boy and pulled it out with his hands and killed him. Moses said; Have you killed an innocent soul who has killed nobody! Truly; you have done an illegal thing. 18.74 He said; Didnt I tell you that you can have no patience with me? 18.75 The sub narrator said; the second blame was stronger than the first one. Moses said; If I ask you about anything after this; keep me not in your company; you have received an excuse from me. 18.76 Then they both proceeded until they came to the inhabitants of a town. They asked them food but they refused to entertain them. In that town they found there a wall on the point of falling down. 18.77 AlKhadir set it up straight with his own hands. Moses said; These are people to whom we came; but they neither fed us nor received us as guests. If you had wished; you could surely have exacted some recompense for it. AlKhadir said; This is the parting between me and you..that is the interpretation of those things over which you were unable to hold patience. 18.78-82 Allah Messenger ﷺ said; We wished that Moses could have been more patient so that Allah might have described to us more about their story. | The Chapter on Moses And Prophets Moses And Alkhadir in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Prophetic Commentary on the Quran Tafseer of the Prophet in Sahih AlBukhari |

SahihMuslim-017-001-20169 | Saeed Bin jubair reported: I said to Ibn Abbas that Nauf AlBikali was of the opinion that Moses ﷺ ; the Apostle of Bani Israil; was not the same who accompanied Khadir; whereupon he said: The enemy of Allah tells a lie. I heard Ubay Bin Kaab say: Moses ﷺ stood up to give sermon to the people of Israil. He was asked as to who amongst the people has the best knowledge; whereupon he said: I have the best knowledge. Thereupon Allah was annoyed with him that he did not attribute the best knowledge to Him. He revealed to him: A servant amongst My servants is at the junction of two rivers who has more knowledge than yours. Moses said: How can I meet him? It was said to him: Carry a fish in the large basket and the place where you find it missing there you will find him. Thereupon Moses proceeded forth along with a young man Yusha. Joshua Bin Nan and Moses ﷺ put the fish in the basket and there went along with him the young man Yusha until they came to a certain rock and Moses and his companion went to sleep and the fish stirred in that basket and fell into the ocean and Allah stopped the current of water like a vault until the way was made for the fish. Moses and his youn. companion were astonished and they walked for the rest of the day and the night and the friend of Moses forgot to inform him of this incident. When it was morning; Moses ﷺ said to the young man: Bring for us the breakfast for we are dead tired because of this journey; and they did not feel exhausted until they had passed that place where they had been commanded to stay. He said: Dont you know that when we reached the Sakhra rock I forgot the fisii and noth ng made me forget it but the satan that I. could nit remember it? How strange is it that the fish found a way in the river? Moses said: That was what we had been aiming at. Then both of them retraced their steps until they reached Sakhra; there they saw a man covered with a cloth. Moses greeted him. Khadir said to him: Where is AlSalam in our country.? He said: I am Moses; whereupon he Khadir said: You mean the Moses of Bani Israil? He said: Yes. He Khadir said: You have a knowledge out of the knowledge of Allah which in fact Allah imparted to you and about that I know nothing and I have knowledge out of Allah knowledge which He imparted to me and about that you do not know. Moses ﷺ said to him: May I follow you so that you may teach me that with which you have been taught righteousness. He said: You will not be able to bear with me; how you will be able to bear that about which you do not know? Moses said: Thou wilt find me patient; nor shalt I disobey you in aught. Khadir said to him: If you were to follow me; then do not ask me about anything until I myself speak to you about it. He said: Yes. So Khadir and Moses set forth on the bank of the river that there came before them a boat. Both of theni talked to them the owners of the boat so that they might carry both of them. They had recognised Khadir and they carried them free. Khadir thereupon took hold of a plank in the boat and broke it away. Moses said: These people have carried us without any charge and you attempt to break their boat so that the people sailing in the boat may drown. This is something grievous that you have done. He said: Did I not say that you would not bear with me? He said: Blame me not for what I forgot and be not hard upon what I did. Then both of them got down from the boat and began to walk along the coastline that they saw a boy who had been playing with other boys. Khadir pulled up his head and killed him. Moses said: Have you killed an innocent person who is in no way guilty of slaying another? You have done something horrible. Thereupon he said: Did I not say to you that you will not be able to bear with me? He Moses said: This act is more grievous than the first one. He Moses further said. If I ask you about anything after this; keep not company with me; then you would no doubt find a plausible excuse for this. Then they both walked on until they reached the inhabitants of a village. They asked its inhabitants for food but they refused to entertain them as their guests. They found in it a wall which had been bent on one side and was about to fall. Khadir set it right with his own hand. Moses; said to him: It is the people to whom we came but they showed us no hospitality and they did not serve us food. If you wish you can get wages for it. He Khadir said: This is the parting of ways between mt and you. Now I wish to reveal to you the significance of that for which you could not bear with me. Allah Messenger ﷺ said. May Allah have mercy upon Moses! I wish if Moses could show patience and a fuller story of both of them could have been told. Allah Messenger ﷺ said that the first thing which Moses said was out of forgetfulness. Then there came a sparrow until it perched on the wall of the boat and took water from the ocean. Thereupon; Khadir said: My knowledge and your knowledge in comparison with the knowledge of Allah is even less than the water taken by the sparrow in its beak in comparison to the water of the ocean; and Saeed Bin jubair used to recite verses 79 and 80 of Surat Kahf in this way: There was before them a king who used to seize every boat by force which was in order; the boy was an unbeliever. | The Chapter on Moses And Prophets Moses And Alkhadir in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 46 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20809 | Ibn Shihab transmitted on the authority of Ibn Mousayib that Abu Huraira said: People say that Abu Huraira transmits so many ahadith; whereas Allah is the Reckoner; and they say: How is it with Muhajirs and the Ansar that they do not narrate ahadith like him like Abu Huraira ? Abu Huraira said: I tell you that my brothers from Ansar remained busy with their lands and my brothers Muhajirs were busy in transactions in the bazars; but I always kept myself attached to Allah Messenger ﷺ with bare subsistence. I remained present in the company of the Holy Prophet ; whereas they had been absent. I retained in my mind what the Prophet said ; whereas they forgot it. One day Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who amongst you spreads the cloth and listens to my talk and would then press it against his chest would never forget anything heard from me. So I spread my mantle and when he had concluded his talk I then pressed it against my chest and so I never forgot after that day anything that he the Holy Prophet said. And if these two verses would not have been revealed in the Book I would have never transmitted anything to anybody : Those who conceal the clear evidence and the guidance that We revealed ii. 159 tip to the last verse. | The Chapter on Alansar And Day Of Perishing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 35 in Sahih Muslim |

SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10246 | Abu Huraira narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: When Allah created Adam; He breathed the soul into him; then he sneezed and said: All praise is due to Allah. So he praised Allah by His permission. Then His Lord said to him: May Allah have mercy upon you O Adam. Go to those angels to that gathering of them sitting so say: AlSalamu Alaikas-Salamu; Wa Rahmatullah Then he returned to his Lord; He said: This is your greeting and the greeting of your children among each other. Then Allah said to him while His Two Hands were closed Choose which of them you wish. He said: I chose the right My Lord and both of the Hands of my Lord are right; blessed. Then He extended it; and there was Adam and his offspring in it. So he said: What are these O my Lord? He said: These are your offspring? Each one of them had his age written between his eyes. But among them there was a man who was the most illuminating of them or among the most illuminated of them. He said: O Lord! Who is this? He said: This is your son Dawud; I wrote forty years for him. He said: O Lord! Add to his age. He said: That is what I have written for him. He said: O Lord! Give him sixty of my years. He said: So you shall have it. He said: Then; he resided in Paradise as long as Allah willed; then he was cast from it; so Adam was counting for himself. He said: So the Angel of death came to him; and Adam said to him: You are hasty; one-thousand years were written for me. He said: Of course! But you gave sixty years to your son Dawud. So he rejected; and his offspring rejected; and he forgot; and his offspring forgot. He said: So ever since that day; what is written and witnessed has been decreed. | The Chapter on Allah Characteristics Ask in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Tafsir in Sunan AlTermithi
SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9953 | Narrated Abu Huraira: that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When Allah created Adam He wiped his back and every person that He created among his offspring until the Day of Resurrection fell out of his back. He placed a ray of light between the eyes of every person. Then He showed them to Adam and he said: O Lord! Who are these people? He said: These are your offspring. He saw one of them whose ray between his eyes amazed him; so he said: O Lord! Who is this? He said: This is a man from the latter nations of your offspring called Dawud. He said: Lord! How long did You make his lifespan? He said: Sixty years. He said: O Lord! Add forty years from my life to his. So at the end of Adam life; the Angel of death of came to him; and he said: Do I not have forty years remaining? He said: Did you not give them to your son Dawud? He said: Adam denied; so his offspring denied; and Adam forgot and his offspring forgot; and Adam sinned; so his offspring sinned. | The Chapter on Life And Death And Martyrs in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Chapters on Tafsir in Sunan AlTermithi |

MuwataMalik-017-001-35963 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Bakr Ibn Nafi from his father that the daughter of one of Safiya bint Abi Ubayd brothers was bleeding after she had given birth to a child at Muzdalifa. She and Safiya were delayed and did not arrive at Mina until after the sun had set on the day of sacrifice. Abdullah Ibn Umar told them both to stone the jamra at the time they arrived and he did not think that they owed anything. Yahya said that Malik was asked about some one who forgot to stone one of the jamras on one of the days of Mina until it was evening and he said; He should throw the stones at whatever time of day or night he remembers; just as he would pray the prayer if he forgot it and then remembered it at any time of day or night. If he remembers that he has not done the stoning after he has returned to Makka; or after he has left; he must sacrifice an animal. | The Chapter on Special Days Of Fasting in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
MuwataMalik-017-001-36024 | Yahya related to me from Malik that Ibn Shihab used to say; When a man catches the raka he says; Allah is greater once; and that takbir is enough for him. Malik added; That is if he intended to begin the prayer by that takbir Malik was asked about a man who began with the imam but forgot the opening takbir and the takbir of the ruku until he had done one raka. Then he remembered that he had not said the takbir at the opening nor in the ruku;so he said the takbir in the second raka. He said; I prefer that he start his prayer again; but if he forgets the opening takbir with the imam and says the takbir in the first ruku; I consider that enough for him if he intends by it the opening takbir. Malik said; about some one who prayed by himself and forgot the opening takbir; He begins his prayer afresh. Malik said; about an imam who forgot the opening takbir until he had finished his prayer; I think that he should do the prayer again; and those behind him; even if they have said the takbir. | The Chapter on Tashahhud And Bowing in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Fasting in Muwata Malik
