AlBara said to the Prophet ﷺ ; I have a young milch goat which is better than two sheep for slaughtering. The sub-narrator; Ibn aown used to say; I dont know whether the permission to slaughter a goat as a sacrifice was especially given to AlBara or if it was in general for all the Muslims. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2177 | Narrated Abu Shuraih AlKhuzai: My ears heard and my heart grasped the statement which the Prophet ﷺ said; The period for keeping one guest is three days and dont forget his reward. It was asked; What is his reward? He said; In the first night and the day he should be given a high class quality of meals; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day; should entertain his guest generously; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good sense or keep quiet. | The Chapter on Siwak In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To protect one tongue in Sahih AlBukhari

Then the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and he was given all sorts of treatment; but all in vain. Some of them said; Will you go to the group those travelers who have dismounted near you and see if one of them has something useful? They came to them and said; O the group! Our leader has been bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and we have treated him with everything but nothing benefited him Has anyone of you anything useful? One of them replied; Yes; by Allah; I know how to treat with a Ruqya. But. by Allah; we wanted you to receive us as your guests but you refused. I will not treat your patient with a Ruqya till you fix for us something as wages. Consequently they agreed to give those travellers a flock of sheep. The man went with them the people of the tribe and started spitting on the bite and reciting Surat AlFatiha till the patient was healed and started walking as if he had not been sick. When the tribe people paid them their wages they had agreed upon; some of them the Prophet companions said; Distribute the sheep. But the one who treated with the Ruqya said; Do not do that till we go to Allah Apostle and mention to him what has happened; and see what he will order us. So they came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and mentioned the story to him and he said; How do you know that Surat AlFatiha is a Ruqya? You have done the right thing. It was asked. What is his reward; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said; To be entertained generously for a day and a night with high quality of food and the guest has the right to be entertained for three days with ordinary food and if he stays longer; what he will be provided with will be regarded as Sadaqa a charitable gift. And anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet i.e. abstain from all kinds of dirty and evil talks. | The Chapter on Days And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whosoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2656 | Narrated Abdulrahman Bin Abu Bakr: Abu Bakr invited a group of people and told me; Look after your guests. Abu Bakr added; I am going to visit the Prophet ﷺ and you should finish serving them before I return. Abdulrahman said; So I went at once and served them with what was available at that time in the house and requested them to eat. They said; Where is the owner of the house i.e.; Abu Bakr ? Abdulrahman said; Take your meal. They said; We will not eat till the owner of the house comes. Abdulrahman said; Accept your meal from us; for if my father comes and finds you not having taken your meal yet; we will be blamed severely by him; but they refused to take their meals. So I was sure that my father would be angry with me. When he came; I went away to hide myself from him. He asked; What have you done about the guests ? They informed him the whole story. Abu Bakr called; O Abdulrahman I kept quiet. He then called again. O Abdulrahman I kept quiet and he called again; O ignorant boy ! I beseech you by Allah; if you hear my voice; then come out! I came out and said; Please ask your guests and do not be angry with me. They said; He has told the truth; he brought the meal to us. He said; As you have been waiting for me; by Allah; I will not eat of it tonight. They said; By Allah; we will not eat of it till you eat of it. He said; I have never seen a night like this night in evil. What is wrong with you? Why dont you accept your meals of hospitality from us? He said to me ; Bring your meal. I brought it to him; and he put his hand in it; saying; In the name of Allah. The first state of fury was because of Satan. He said; Havent you served the supper to them? She replied; We presented the meal to him or to them ; but he or they refused to eat. Abu Bakr became angry; rebuked me and invoked Allah to cause my ears to be cut and swore not to eat of it! I hid myself; and he called me; O ignorant boy ! Abu Bakr wife swore that she would not eat of it and so the guests or the guest swore that they would not eat of it till he ate of it. Abu Bakr said; All that happened was from Satan. So he asked for the meals and ate of it; and so did they. Whenever they took a handful of the meal; the meal grew increased from underneath more than that mouthful. He said to his wife ; O; sister of Bani Firas! What is this? She said; O; pleasure of my eyes! The meal is now more than it had been before we started eating So they ate of it and sent the rest of that meal to the Prophet. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3577 | Narrated Aisha: Eleven women sat at a place and promised and contracted that they would not conceal anything of the news of their husbands. The first one said; My husband is like the meat of a slim weak camel which is kept on the top of a mountain which is neither easy to climb; nor is the meat fat; so that one might put up with the trouble of fetching it. The second one said; I shall not relate my husband news; for I fear that I may not be able to finish his story; for if I describe him; I will mention all his defects and bad traits. The third one said; My husband; the too-tall! if I describe him and he hears of that he will divorce me; and if I keep quiet; he will keep me hanging neither divorcing me nor treating me as a wife. The fourth one said; My husband is moderate in temper like the night of Tihama: neither hot nor cold; I am neither afraid of him; nor am I discontented with him. The fifth one said; My husband; when entering the house is a leopard sleeps a lot ; and when going out; is a lion boasts a lot. He does not ask about whatever is in the house. The sixth one said; If my husband eats; he eats too much leaving the dishes empty ; and if he drinks he leaves nothing; if he sleeps he sleeps he rolls himself alone in our blankets ; and he does not insert his palm to inquire about my feelings. The seventh one said; My husband is a wrong-doer or weak and foolish. All the defects are present in him. He may injure your head or your body or may do both. The eighth one said; My husband is soft to touch like a rabbit and smells like a Zarnab a kind of good smelling grass. The ninth one said; My husband is a tall generous man wearing a long strap for carrying his sword. His ashes are abundant i.e. generous to his guests and his house is near to the people who would easily consult him. The tenth one said; My husband is Malik possessor ; and what is Malik? Malik is greater than whatever I say about him. He is beyond and above all praises which can come to my mind. Most of his camels are kept at home ready to be slaughtered for the guests and only a few are taken to the pastures. When the camels hear the sound of the lute or the tambourine they realize that they are going to be slaughtered for the guests. The eleventh one said; My husband is Abu Zar and what is Abu Zar i.e.; what should I say about him ? He has given me many ornaments and my ears are heavily loaded with them and my arms have become fat i.e.; I have become fat. And he has pleased me; and I have become so happy that I feel proud of myself. He found me with my family who were mere owners of sheep and living in poverty; and brought me to a respected family having horses and camels and threshing and purifying grain. Whatever I say; he does not rebuke or insult me. When I sleep; I sleep till late in the morning; and when I drink water or milk ; I drink my fill. The mother of Abu Zar and what may one say in praise of the mother of Abu Zar? Her saddle bags were always full of provision and her house was spacious. As for the son of Abu Zar; what may one say of the son of Abu Zar? His bed is as narrow as an unsheathed sword and an arm of a kid of four months satisfies his hunger. As for the daughter of Abu Zar; she is obedient to her father and to her mother. She has a fat well-built body and that arouses the jealousy of her husband other wife. As for the maid slave girl of Abu Zar; what may one say of the maid slavegirl of Abu Zar? She does not uncover our secrets but keeps them; and does not waste our provisions and does not leave the rubbish scattered everywhere in our house. The eleventh lady added; One day it so happened that Abu Zar went out at the time when the milk was being milked from the animals; and he saw a woman who had two sons like two leopards playing with her two breasts. On seeing her he divorced me and married her. Thereafter I married a noble man who used to ride a fast tireless horse and keep a spear in his hand. He gave me many things; and also a pair of every kind of livestock and said; Eat of this ; O Umm Dharr; and give provision to your relatives. She added; Yet; all those things which my second husband gave me could not fill the smallest utensil of Abu Zars. Aisha then said: Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me; I am to you as Abu Zar was to his wife Umm Dharr. | The Chapter on Marriage And The House in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To treat the family in a polite and kind manner in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3661 | Narrated Abu Huraira: A man came to the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ sent a messenger to his wives to bring something for that man to eat but they said that they had nothing except water. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Who will take this person or entertain him as a guest? An Ansar man said; I. So he took him to his wife and said to her; Entertain generously the guest of Allah Messenger ﷺ She said; We have got nothing except the meals of my children. He said; Prepare your meal; light your lamp and let your children sleep if they ask for supper. So she prepared her meal; lighted her lamp and made her children sleep; and then stood up pretending to mend her lamp; but she put it off. Then both of them pretended to be eating; but they really went to bed hungry. In the morning the Ansari went to Allah Messenger ﷺ who said; Tonight Allah laughed or wondered at your action. Then Allah revealed: But give them emigrants preference over themselves even though they were in need of that And whosoever is saved from the covetousness Such are they who will be successful. 59.9 | The Chapter on Entertainment In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on they give them emigrants preference over themselves in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5018 | Narrated Abu Said: Some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ went on a journey till they reached some of the Arab tribes at night. They asked the latter to treat them as their guests but they refused. The chief of that tribe was then bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and they tried their best to cure him but in vain. Some of them said to the others ; Nothing has benefited him; will you go to the people who resided here at night; it may be that some of them might possess something as treatment ; They went to the group of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ and said; Our chief has been bitten by a snake or stung by a scorpion and we have tried everything but he has not benefited. Have you got anything useful ? One of them replied; Yes; by Allah! I can recite a Ruqya; but as you have refused to accept us as your guests; I will not recite the Ruqya for you unless you fix for us some wages for it. They agrees to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them then went and recited Surat AlFatiha : All the praises are for the Lord of the Worlds and puffed over the chief who became all right as if he was released from a chain; and got up and started walking; showing no signs of sickness. They paid them what they agreed to pay. Some of them i.e. the companions then suggested to divide their earnings among themselves; but the one who performed the recitation said; Do not divide them till we go to the Prophet ﷺ and narrate the whole story to him; and wait for his order. So; they went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and narrated the story. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked; How did you come to know that Surat AlFatiha was recited as Ruqya? Then he added; You have done the right thing. Divide what you have earned and assign a share for me as well. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-573 | Narrated Abu Uthman: Abdulrahman Bin Abi Bakr said; The Suffa Companions were poor people and the Prophet ﷺ said; Whoever has food for two persons should take a third one from them Suffa companions. And whosoever has food for four persons he should take one or two from them Abu Bakr took three men and the Prophet ﷺ took ten of them. Abdulrahman added; my father my mother and I were there in the house. The sub-narrator is in doubt whether Abdulrahman also said; My wife and our servant who was common for both my house and Abu Bakr house. Abu Bakr took his supper with the Prophet ﷺ and remained there till the Isha prayer was offered. Abu Bakr went back and stayed with the Prophet ﷺ till the Prophet ﷺ took his meal and then Abu Bakr returned to his house after a long portion of the night had passed. Abu Bakr wife said; What detained you from your guests or guest ? He said; Have you not served them yet? She said; They refused to eat until you come. The food was served for them but they refused. Abdulrahman added; I went away and hid myself being afraid of Abu Bakr and in the meantime he Abu Bakr called me; O Ghunthar a harsh word ! and also called me bad names and abused me and then said to his family ; Eat. No welcome for you. Then the supper was served. Abu Bakr took an oath that he would not eat that food. The narrator added: By Allah; whenever any one of us myself and the guests of Suffa companions took anything from the food; it increased from underneath. We all ate to our fill and the food was more than it was before its serving. Abu Bakr looked at it the food and found it as it was before serving or even more than that. He addressed his wife saying O the sister of Bani Firas! What is this? She said; O the pleasure of my eyes! The food is now three times more than it was before. Abu Bakr ate from it; and said; That oath was from Satan meaning his oath not to eat. Then he again took a morsel mouthful from it and then took the rest of it to the Prophet. So that meal was with the Prophet. There was a treaty between us and some people; and when the period of that treaty had elapsed the Prophet ﷺ divided us into twelve groups the Prophet companions each being headed by a man. Allah knows how many men were under the command of each leader. So all of them 12 groups of men ate of that meal. | The Chapter on Food In Basic Instinct in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on To talk with the family and the guests after the sha prayer in Sahih AlBukhari |

Once the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to his Companions : He who amongst you has food for two persons should take three guests with him. and he who has with him food for four persons should take five or six guests with him for entertaining them. He the narrator said: I do not know whether he also said: My wife and one servant who was common between our house and that of Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr had had his evening meal with Allah Apostle ﷺ. He stayed here until night prayer had been offered. He then came back to the house of Allah Apostle and stayed there until Allah Messenger ﷺ felt drowsy and Abu Bakr then came back to his own house when a considerable part of the night had been over; as Allah had desired. His wife said to him: What held you back from your guests? He said: Oh! have you not served them the evening meal by this time ? She said: It was in fact served to them. but they refused to eat until you came. He Abdulrahman said: I slunk away and bid myself. He Abu Bakr said: O; you stupid fellow; and he reprimanded me; and said to the guests: Eat; though it may not be pleasant now. He said: By Allah. I will never eat it He Abdulrahman said: By Allah. we did not take a morsel when from beneath that there appeared more until they had eaten to their fill; and lo! it was more than what it was before. Abu Bakr saw that and found that it was so or more than that. He said to his wife: Sister of Band Firis; what is th-is? She said: By the coolness of my eyes. it is in excess by three times over the previous one. Then Abu Bakr ate saying: That was from the Satan viz. his vow for not eating the food. He then took a morsel out of that and then took it the rest to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and it was kept there until morning; and during those days there was a covenant between us and some other people; and the period of covenant was over; and we had appointed twelve officials with every person amongst them. While going he said: Abdulrahman entertain the guests. When it was evening we served the food to them; but they refused saying: So long as the owner of the house does not come and join us; we would not take the meal. I said to them: He Abd Bakr is a stern person; and if you would not do that if you do not take the food. I fear; I may be harmed by him; but they refused. I provided them with food but they refused to eat until you came. He said to them: Why is it that you did not accept our food? By Allah; I shall not even take food tonight as you have not taken. They said: By Allah; we would not take until you join us. Thereupon he Abu Bakr said: I have never seen a more unfortunate night than this. Woe be to thee! that you do not accept from us food prepared for you. He again said: What I did first that is the taking of vow for not eating the food was prompted by the Satan. Bring the food. The food was brought; and he ate by reciting the name of Allah and they also ate; and when it was morning he came to Allah Apostle ﷺ and said: Allah Messenger; their oath that of the guests came to be true; but mine was not true; and after that he informed him of the whole incident. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10181 | Abu Huraira narrated: That a man from the Ansar had a guest spend the night with him; but he did not have anything to eat but his meal and the meal for his children; so he said to his wife: Put the children to sleep; extinguish the torches; and give me whatever you have with you for the guest. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-9719 | Abu Huraira narrated: The people of AlSuffah were the guests of the people of Islam;they had nothing of people nor wealth to rely upon. And By Allah; the One Whom there is none worthy of worship besides Him I would lay on the ground on my liver side due to hunger; And I would fasten a stone to my stomach out of hunger. One day I sat by the way that they the Companions use to come out through. Abu Bakr passed and so I asked him about an Ayah from Allah Book; not asking him except that he might tell me to follow him for something to eat. But he passed on without doing so. Then Umar passed; so I asked him about an Ayah from Allah Book; not asking him except that he might tell me to follow him. But he passed on without doing so. Then Ab AlQasim s.a.w passed; and he smiled when he saw me; and said: Abu Huraira? I said: I am here O Messenger of Allah! He said: Come along. He continued and I followed him; he entered his house; so I sought permission to enter; and he permitted me. He found a bowl of milk and said: Where did this milk come from? It was said: It was a gift to us from so and so. So the Messenger of Allah s.a.w said: O Abu Huraira I said: I am here O Messenger of Allah! He said: Go to the people of AlSuffah to invite them. - Now; they were the guests of the people of Islam; they had nothing of people nor wealth to rely upon. Whenever some charity was brought to him; he would send it to them without using any of it. And when a gift was given to him s.a.w ; he would send for them to participate and share with him in it. I became upset about that; and I said to myself : What good will this bowl be among the people of AlSuffah and I am the one bringing it to them? Then he ordered me to circulate it among them So I wondered what of it would reach me from it; and I hoped that I would get from it what would satisfy me. But I would certainly not neglect to obey Allah and obey His Messenger; so I went to them and invited them. When they entered upon him they sat down. He said: Abu Huraira; take the bowl and give it to them. So I gave it to a man who drank his fill; then he gave it to another one; until it ended up with the Messenger of Allah s.a.w ; and all of the people had drank their fill. The Messenger of Allah s.a.w took the bowl; put it on his hand;then raised his head. He smiled and said: Abu Huraira; drink. So I drank; then he said: Drink. I kept drinking and he kept on saying; Drink. Then I said: By the One Who sent you with the truth! I have no more space for it. So he took the bowl and praised Allah; mentioned His Name and drank. SunanAlNasai-017-001-14442 | Narrated Amir Bin Shurahbil AlShabi: Amir Bin Shurahbil AlShabi narrated that he heard Fatimah bint Qais-who was one of the first Muhajir women- say: Abdulrahman Bin Awuf proposed marriage to me; along with others of the Companions of Muhammad. And the Messenger of Allah proposed that I marry his freed slave; Usamah Bin Zaid. I was told that the Messenger of Allah had said: Whoever loves me; let him love Usamah. When the Messenger of Allah spoke to me I said: My affairs are in your hands; marry me to whomever you wish. He said: Go to Umm Sharik. Umm Sharik was a rich Ansari woman who used to spend a great deal in the cause of Allah; and she always had a lot of guests. I said: I will do that. He said: Do not do that; for Umm Sharik has a lot of guests; and I would not like your Khimar to fall off; or your shins to become uncovered; and the people to see something of you that you do not want them to see. Rather go to your cousin son of your paternal uncle Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Umm Maktum; who is a man of Banu Fihr. So I went to him. | The Chapter on Marriage And The House in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Proposal of Marriage in Sunan AlNasai |

MuwataMalik-017-001-34720 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Said Ibn Abi Said AlMaqburi from Abu Shurayh AlKaabi that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or be silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should be generous to his neighbour. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day; should be generous to his guest. His welcome is for a day and a night; and his hospitality is for three days. Whatever is more than that is sadaqa. It is not halal for a guest to stay with a man until he becomes a burden. | The Chapter on Days And Charity in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Purity in Muwata Malik |
