SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4533 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Horses are kept for one of three purposes; for some people they are a source of reward; for some others they are a means of shelter and for some others they are a source of sins. The one for whom they are a source of reward; is he who keeps a horse for Allah Cause i.e. Jihad tying it with a long tether on a meadow or in a garden with the result that whatever it eats from the area of the meadow or the garden where it is tied will be counted as good deeds for his benefit; and if it should break its rope and jump over one or two hillocks then all its dung and its foot marks will be written as good deeds for him; and if it passes by a river and drinks water from it even though he had no intention of watering it; even then he will get the reward for its drinking. As for the man for whom horses are a source of sins; he is the one who keeps a horse for the sake of pride and pretense and showing enmity for Muslims: such a horse will be a source of sins for him. When Allah Messenger ﷺ was asked about donkeys; he replied; Nothing has been revealed to me about them except this unique; comprehensive Verse: Then anyone who does an atom or a small ants weight of good shall see it; And anyone who does an atom or a small ants weight of evil; shall see it. 101.7-8 | The Chapter on Jihad Manners in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Horses are kept for three purposes in Sahih AlBukhari |

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29697 | Ali said The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ sent me AlZubair and AlMiqdad and said Go till you come to the meadow of Khakh for there Is a woman there travelling on a Camel who has a letter which you must take from her. We went off racing one another on our horses till we came to the meadow and when we found the woman; we aid Bring out the letter. She said I have no letter. I said You must bring out the letter else we strip off your clothes. She then brought it out from the tresses and we took it to the Prophet ﷺ. It was addressed from Hatib Bin Abi Baltaah to some of the polytheists in Makkah giving them some information about the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. He asked What is this; Hatib? He replied; Apostle of Allaah ﷺ do not be hasty with me. I have been a man attached as an ally to the Quraish and am not one of them while those of the Quraish i.e. the emigrants have relationship with them by which they guarded their family in Makkah. As I did not have that advantage I wanted to give them some help for which they might guard my relations. I swear by Allaah I am not guilty of unbelief or apostasy from my religion. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said he has told you the truth. Umar said Let me cut off this hypocrites head. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said He was present at Badr and what do you know; perhaps Allaah might look with pity on those who were present at Badr? And said Do what you wish; I have forgiven you. | The Chapter on Military Expedition And Makkah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Ragarding The Judgement For The Spy When He Is A Muslim in Sunan Abu Dawoud |

MuwataMalik-017-001-35410 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd Ibn Aslam from Abu Salih AlSamman from Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Horses are a reward for one man; a protection for another; a burden for another. The one who has them as a reward is the one who dedicates them for use in the way of Allah; and tethers them in a meadow or grassland. Whatever the horse enjoys of the grassland or meadow in the length of its tether are good deeds for him. If it breaks its tether and goes over a hillock or two; its tracks and droppings are good deeds for him. If it crosses a river and drinks from it while he did not mean to allow it to drink it; that counts as good deeds for him; and the horse is a reward for him. Another man uses his horse to gain self reliance and up- standingness and does not forget Allah right on their necks and backs i.e. he does not ill treat or over-work them. Horses are a protection for him. Another man uses them out of pride to show them off and in hostility to the people of Islam. They are a burden on that man. The Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; was asked about donkeys; and he said; Nothing has been revealed to me about them except this single Allinclusive ayat; Whoever does an atom of good will see it; and whoever does an atom of evil; will see it.
