SahihAlBukhari-017-001-089 | Narrated Mahmud Bin AlRabi AlAnsari: that he remembered Allah Messenger ﷺ and he also remembered a mouthful of water which he had thrown on his face; after taking it from a well that was in their house. Mahmud said that he had heard Itban Bin Malik; who was present with Allah Messenger ﷺ in the battle of Badr saying; I used to lead my people at Bani Salim in the prayer and there was a valley between me and those people. Whenever it rained it used to be difficult for me to cross it to go to their Masjid. So I went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said; I have weak eyesight and the valley between me and my people flows during the rainy season and it becomes difficult for me to cross it; I wish you would come to my house and pray at a place so that I could take that place as a praying place. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; I will do so. So Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr came to my house in the next morning after the sun had risen high. Allah Messenger ﷺ asked my permission to let him in and I admitted him. He did not sit before saying; Where do you want us to offer the prayer in your house? I pointed to the place where I wanted him to pray. So Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up for the prayer and started the prayer with Takbir and we aligned in rows behind him; and he offered two rakat; and finished them with Taslim; and we also performed Taslim with him. I detained him for a meal called KhaZirr which I had prepared for him.- KhaZirr is a special type of dish prepared from barley flour and meat soup - When the neighbors got the news that Allah Messenger ﷺ was in my house; they poured it till there were a great number of men in the house. One of them said; What is wrong with Malik; for I do not see him? One of them replied; He is a hypocrite and does not love Allah and His Apostle. On that Allah Apostle said; Dont say this. Havent you seen that he said; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah for Allah sake only. The man replied; Allah and His Apostle know better; but by Allah; we never saw him but helping and talking with the hypocrites. Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; No doubt; whoever says. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and by that he wants the pleasures of Allah; then Allah will save him from Hell. Mahmud added; I told the above narration to some people; one of whom was Abu Ayoub ; the companion of Allah Messenger ﷺ in the battle in which he Abu Ayoub died and Yazid Bin Muawiya was their leader in Roman Territory. Abu Ayoub denounced the narration and said; I doubt that Allah Messenger ﷺ ever said what you have said. I felt that too much; and I vowed to Allah that if I remained alive in that holy battle; I would go to Medina and ask Itban Bin Malik if he was still living in the Masjid of his people. So when he returned; I assumed Ihram for Hajj or Umra and then I proceeded on till I reached Medina. I went to Bani Salim and Itban Bin Malik; who was by then an old blind man; was leading his people in the prayer. When he finished the prayer; I greeted him and introduced myself to him and then asked him about that narration. Umar said to them; Leave me now. Then he said; Call the Ansar for me. I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them; Leave me now; and added; Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca. At that time Abdulrahman Bin Auf; who had been absent because of some job; came and said; I have some knowledge about this. He overtook me and I was on a water-carrying camel who had grown tired and did not walk trot. He the Holy Prophet said to me: What is the matter with your camel? I said: It is sick. He the Holy Prophet stepped behind and drove it and prayed for it; and then it always moved ahead of other camels. He then said: How do you find your camel? I said: It is; by the grace of your prayer; all right. He said: Would you sell this camel to me? I felt shy to say him; No as we had no other camel for carrying water; but later on I said: Yes; and to I sold it to him on the condition that I would be permitted to ride it until I reached Madina. I said to him: Allah Messenger; I am newly married; so I asked his permission to go ahead of the caravan. He permitted me; and I reached Medina well in advance of other people; until I reached my destination. There my maternal uncle met me and asked me about the camel; and I told him what I had done with regard to it. He reproved me in this connection. He Jabir said: When I asked his permission to go ahead of the caravan Allah Messenger ﷺ inquired of me whether I had married a virgin or a non-virgin. I said to him: I have married a non-virgin. He said: Why did you not marry a virgin who would have played with you and you would have played with her? I said to him: Allah Messenger; my father died or he fell as a martyr ; and I have small sisters to look after ; so I did not like the idea that I should marry a woman who is like them and thus be not able to teach them manners and look after them properly. So I have married a non-virgin so that she should be able to look after them and teach them manners; When Allah Messenger ﷺ came to Medina; I went to him in the morning with the camel. SahihMuslim-017-001-18600 | It is narrated on the authority of Jabir that Tufail son of Amr AlDausi came to the Apostle ﷺ and said: Do you need strong; fortified protection? The tribe of Daus had a fort in the pre-Islamic days. The Apostle ﷺ declined this offer; since it the privilege of protecting the Holy Prophet had already been reserved for the Ansar. When the Apostle ﷺ migrated to Medina; Tufail son of Amr also migrated to that place; and there also migrated along with him a man of his tribe. But the climate of Medina did not suit him; and he fell sick. He felt very uneasy. So he took hold of an iron head of an arrow and cut his finger-joints. The blood streamed forth from his hands; till he died. Tufail son of Amr saw him in a dream. His state was good and he saw him with his hands wrapped. He Tufail said to him: What treatment did your Allah accord to you? He replied. Allah granted me pardon for my migration to the Apostle ﷺ : He Tufail again said: What is this that I see you wrapping up your hands? Have you not heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying: He would not enter Mecca and Medina? I said: Yes; of course. Thereupon he said I have been once in Medina and now I intend to go to Mecca. And we encamped at a place and the people dispersed and I and he were left behind. I felt terribly frightend from him as it was said about him that he was the Dajjal. He brought his goods and placed them by my luggage and I said: It is intense heat. Would you not place that under that tree? And he did that. Then there appeared before us a flock of sheep. He went and brought a cup of milk and said: Abu Said; drink that. I said it is intense heat and the milk is also hot whereas the fact was that I did not like to drink from his hands or to take it from his hand and he said: Abu Said; I think that I should take a rope and suspend it by the tree and then commit suicide because of the talks of the people; and he further said. Abu Saeed he who is ignorant of the saying of Allah Messenger ﷺ he is to be pardoned ; but O people of Ansar; is this hadith of Allah Messenger ﷺ concealed from you whereas you have the best knowledge of the hadith of Allah Messenger ﷺ amongst people? Did Allah Messenger ﷺ not say that he Dajjal would be a non believer whereas I am a believer? Did Allah Messenger ﷺ not say he would be barren and no child would be born to him; whereas I have left my children in Medina? Did Allah Messenger may peace upon him not say: He would not get into Medina and Mecca whereas I have been coming from Medina and now I intend to go to Mecca? The Dajjal would say: What is your opinion if I kill this person ; then I bring him back to life; even then will you harbour doubt in this matter? They would say: No. He would then kill the man and then bring him back to life. When he would bring that person to life; he would say: By Allah; I had no better proof of the fact that you are a Dajjal than at the present time that you are actually so. SahihMuslim-017-001-19253 | Amir Bin Sharahil Shabi Shab Hamdan reported that he asked Fatima; daughter of Qais and sister of AlDahhak Bin Qais and she was the first amongst the emigrant women: Narrate to me a hadith which you had heard directly from Allah Messenger ﷺ and there is no extra link in between them. She said: Very well; if you like; I am prepared to do that; and he said to her: Well; do It and narrate that to me. She said: I married the son of Mughira and he was a chosen young man of Quraish at that time; but he fell as a martyr in the first Jihad fighting on the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I became a widow; Abdulrahman Bin Auf; one amongst the group of the Companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; sent me the proposal of marriage. Allah Messenger ﷺ also sent me such a message for his freed slave Usama Bin Zaid. And it had been conveyed to me that Allah Messenger ﷺ had said about Usama : He who loves me should also love Usama. When Allah Messenger ﷺ talked to me about this matter ; I said: My affairs are in your hand. You may marry me to anyone whom you like. He said: You better shift now to the house of Umm Sharik; and Umm Sharik was a rich lady from amongst the Ansar. She spent generously for the cause of Allah and entertained guests very hospitably. I said: Well; I will do as you like. He said: Do not do that for Umm Sharik is a woman who is very frequently visited by guests and I do not like that your head may be uncovered or the cloth may be removed from your shank and the strangers may catch sight of them which you abhor. You better shift to the house of your cousin Abdullah Bin Amr Bin Umm Maktum and he is a person of the Bani Fihr branch of the Quraish; and he belonged to that tribe to which Fatima belonged. So I shifted to that house; and when my period of waiting was over; I heard the voice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayer would be observed in the Masjid where congregational prayer is observed. So I set out towards that Masjid and observed prayer along with Allah Messenger ﷺ and I was in the row of the women which was near the row of men. When Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his prayer; he sat on the pulpit smiling and said: Every worshipper should keep sitting at his place. He then said: Do you know why I had asked you to assemble? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: By Allah. I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for a warning; but I have detained you here; for Tamim Dari; a Christian; who came and accepted Islam; told me something; which agrees with what I was telling; you about the Dajjal. He narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these waves took them near the land within the ocean island at the time of sunset. They sat in a small side-boat and entered that island. There was a beast with long thick hair and because of these they could not distinguish his face from his back. They said: Woe to you; who can you be? Thereupon it said: I am AlJassasa. They said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: O people; go to this person in the monastery as he is very much eager to know about you. He the narrator said: When it named a person for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a devil. Then we hurriedly went on till we came to that monastery and found a well-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. We said: Woe be upon thee; who are you? And he said: You would soon come to know about me. but tell me who are you. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarked upon a boat but the sea-waves had been driving us for one month and they brought as near this island. We got Into the side-boats and entered this island and here a beast met us with profusely thick hair and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not be distinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee; who are you? It said: I am AlJassasa. We said: What is AlJassasa? And it said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he is eagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you in hot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He that chained person said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baisan. We said: About what aspect of theirs do you seek information? He said: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not. We said: yes. Thereupon he said: I think these would not bear fruits. He said: Inform me about the lake of Tabariya? We said: Which aspect of it do you want to know? He said: Is there water in it? They said: There is abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: I think it would soon become dry. He again said: Inform me about the spring of Zughar. They said: Which aspect of it you want to know? He the chained person said: Is there water in it and does it irrigate the land ? We said to him: Yes; there is abundance of water in it and the inhabitants of Medina irrigate land with the help of it; He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done? We said: He has come out from Mecca and has settled In Yathrib Medina. He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? We said: Yes. He said: How did he deal with them? We informed him that he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they had submitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Has it actually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is so that is better for them that they should show obedience to him. I am going to tell you about myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land; and will not spare any town where I would not stay for forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two places are prohibited areas for me and I would not make an attempt to enter any one of these two. An angel with a sword in his hand would confront me and would bar my way and there would be angels to guard every passage leading to it; then Allah Messenger ﷺ striking the pulpit with the help of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba meaning Medina. Have I not; told you an account of the Dajjal like this? The people said: Yes; and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him Dajjal at Medina and Mecca. Behold he Dajjal is in the Syrian sea Mediterranean or the Yemen sea Arabian sea. Nay; on the contrary; he is in the east; he is in the east; he is in the east; and he pointed with his hand towards the east. He placed him the child in his lap and then commanded for the dates to be brought. He chewed them and then put the saliva in his mouth. He took it and drank water. She then embellished herself which she did not do before. He Abu Talha had a sexual intercourse with her and when she saw that he was satisfied after sexual intercourse with her; she said: Abu Talha ; if some people borrow something from another family and then the members of the family ask for its return; would they resist its return? He said: No. She said: I inform you about the death of your son. He was annoyed; and said: You did not inform me until I had a sexual intercourse with you and you later on gave me information about my son. He went to Allah Messenger ﷺ and informed him what had happened. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: May Allah bless both of you in the night spent by you! He the narrator said: She became pregnant. Allah Messenger may peace he upon him was in the course of a journey and she was along with him and when Allah Messenger ﷺ came back to Medina from the journey he did not enter his house during the night. When the people came near Medina; she felt the pangs of delivery. He Abu Talha remained with her and Allah Messenger ﷺ proceeded on. Abu Talha said: O Lord; you know that I love to go along with Allah Messenger when he goes out and enter along with him when he enters and I have been detained as Thou seest. Umm Sulaim said: Abu Talha ; I do not feel so much pain as I was feeling formerly; so better proceed on. So we proceeded on and she felt the pangs of delivery as they reached Medina and a child was born and my mother said to me: Anas; none should suckle him until you go to Allah Messenger ﷺ tomorrow morning. And when it was morning I carried him the child and went along with him to Allah Messenger may peace beupon him. He said: I saw that he had in his hand the instrument for the cauterisation of the camels. When he saw me. he said: This is; perhaps; what Umm Sulaim has given birth to. I said: Yes. He laid down that instrument on the ground. I brought that child to him and placed it in his lap and Allah Messenger ﷺ asked Ajwa dates of Medina to be brought and softened them in his month. When these had become palatable he placed them in the mouth of that child. The child began to taste them. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ said: See what love the Ansar have for dates. While he was preaching on a Friday; a man stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the horses have perished; the goats have perished; pray to Allah to give us water. He spread his hands and prayed. Anas said: The sky was like a mirror there was no cloud. Then the wind rose; a cloud appeared in the sky and it spread : the sky poured down the water. We came out from the Masjid after the prayer passing through the water till we reached our homes. The rain continued till the following Friday. The same or some other person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the houses have been demolished; pray to Allah to stop it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26847 | Narrated Anas Ibn Malik: Sahl Ibn Abu Umamah said that he and his father Abu Umamah visited Anas Ibn Malik at Medina during the time rule of Umar Ibn Abd AlAziz when he Anas Ibn Malik was the governor of Medina. He was praying a very short prayer as if it were the prayer of a traveller or near it. When he gave a greeting; my father said: May Allah have mercy on you! Tell me about this prayer: Is it obligatory or supererogatory? He said: It is obligatory; it is the prayer performed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I did not make a mistake except in one thing that I forgot. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: Do not impose austerities on yourselves so that austerities will be imposed on you; for people have imposed austerities on themselves and Allah imposed austerities on them. Their survivors are to be found in cells and monasteries. Then he quoted: Monasticism; they invented it; we did not prescribe it for them. Next day he went out in the morning and said: will you not go out for a ride; so that you may see something and take a lesson from it? He said: Yes. Then all of them rode away and reached a land whose inhabitants had perished; passed away and died. The roofs of the town had fallen in. He asked: Do you know this land? I said: Who acquainted me with it and its inhabitants? Anas said: This is the land of the people whom oppression and envy destroyed. Envy extinguishes the light of good deeds; and oppression confirms or falsifies it. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-28581 | Imran Bin Hosain said: Adba belonged to a man of Banu Aqil. It used to go ahead of pligrims. The man was then captivated. He was brought in chains to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was riding on a donkey with a blanket on him. He said: Muhammad; why do you arrest me and capture the one i.e. the camel which goes ahead of the pilgrims. He replied: We are arresting you on account of the crime committed by your allies Thaqid. Thaqif captivated two persons from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said whatever he said I am a Muslim; or he said: I have embraced Islam. When the Prophet ﷺ went ahead; he called him: O Muhammed; O Muhammed. Abu Dawud said: I learnt it from the version of the narrator Muhammad Bin Isa. The Prophet ﷺ was compassionate and kind hearted. So he returned to him; and asked: What is the matter with you ? He replied: I am a Muslim. He said: Had you said it when the matter was in your hand; you would have succeeded completely. Abu Dawud said: I then returned to the version of the narrator Sulaiman Bin Harb. He said: Muhammad; I am hungry; so feed me. I am thirsty; so give me water. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is your need; or he said: This is his need the narrator is doubtful. Later on the man was taken back by Thaqif as a ransom for the two men of the Companions of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ retained Adba for his journey. The narrator said: The polytheists raided the pasturing animals of Medina and they took away Adba. When they took away Adba; they also captivated a Muslim woman. They used to leave their camels in the fields for rest at night. One night they slept and the Muslim woman stood up. Any camel on which she put her hand brayed until she came to Adba. She came to a camel which was docile and experienced. She then rode on her and vowed to Allah that if He saved her; she would sacrifice it. When she came to Medina; the people recognized the camel of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ was then informed about it and he sent for her. She was brought to him and she informed him about her vow. He said: It is a bad return that you have given it. Allah has not saved you; on its back that you now sacrifice it. A vow to do an act of disobedience must not be fulfilled; or to do something over which one has no control.Abu Dawud said: This woman was the wife of Abu Dharr. | The Chapter on Camels And Herdsmen And Holiness in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on A Vow Concerning What One Does Not Possess in Sunan Abu Dawoud

SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29694 | Narrated Abdullah Ibn Umar: Ibn Umar was sent with a detachment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The people wheeled round in flight. He said: I was one of those who wheeled round in flight. When we stopped; we said i.e. thought : How should we do? We have run away from the battlefield and deserve Allah wrath. Then we said thought : Let us enter Medina; stay there; and go there while no one sees us. So we entered Medina and thought: If we present ourselves before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; and if there is a change of repentance for us; we shall stay; if there is something else; we shall go away. So we sat down waiting for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the dawn prayer. When he came out; we stood up to him and said: We are the ones who have fled. He turned to us and said: No; you are the ones who return to fight after wheeling away. We then approached and kissed his hand; and he said; I am the main body of the Muslims. | The Chapter on Live Stock And Gifts in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Fleeing On The Day Of The March in Sunan Abu Dawoud
SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-29812 | AlMiswar Bin Makhramah said : The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out in the year of AlHudaibbiyah with over ten hundreds of Companions and when he came to Dhu AlHulaifa. He garlanded and marked the sacrificial animals; and entered the sacred state of Umrah. He then went on with the tradition. The Prophet moved on and when he came to the mountain; pass by which one descends to Mecca to them; his riding-beast knelt down; and the people said twice: Go on; go on; AlQaswa has become jaded. The Prophet ﷺ said: She has not become jaded and that is not a characteristic of hers; but He Who restrained the elephant has restrained her. He then said: By Him in Whose hand my soul is; they will not ask any me good thing by which they honor which God has made sacred without my giving them it. He then urged her and she leaped up and he turned Aasi de from them; and stopped at the farthest side of AlHudaibiyah at a pool with little water. Meanwhile Budail Bin Warqa AlKhuzaI came; and Urwah Bin Masud joined him. He began to speak to the Prophet ﷺ. Whenever he spoke to the Prophet ﷺ ; he caught his beard. AlMughriah Bin Shubah was standing beside the Prophet ﷺ.He had a sword with him; wearing a helmet. He AlMughriah struck his Urwahs hand with the lower end of his sheath; and said: Keep away your hand from his beard. Urwah then raised his hand and asked: Who is this? They replied: AlMughirah Bin Shubah. He said: O treacherous one! Did I not use my offices in your treachery? In pre-Islamic days AlMughirah Bin Shubah accompanied some people and murdered them; and took their property. He then came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The Prophet ﷺ said: As for Islam we accepted it; but as to the property; as it has been taken by treachery; we have no need of it. He went on with the tradition the Prophet ﷺ said: Write down: This is what Muhammad; the Messenger of Allah; has decided. He then narrated the tradition. Suhail then said: And that a man will not come to you from us; even if he follows your religion; without you sending him back to us. When he finished drawing up the document; the Prophet ﷺ said to his Companions: Get up and sacrifice and then shave. Thereafter some believing women who were immigrants came. Allah sent down: O yea who believe; when believing women come to you as emigrants. Allah most high forbade them to send them back; but ordered them to restore the dower. He then returned to Medina. Abu Basir a man from the Quraish who was a Muslim ; came to him. And they sent two men to look for him; so he handed him over to the two men. They took him away; and when they reached Dhu AlHulaifa and alighted to eat some dates which they had; Abu Basir said to one of the men : I swear by Allah so-and-so; that I think this sword of yours is a fine one; the other drew the sword and said : Yes I have tried it. Abu Basir said: Let me look at it. He let him have it and he struck him till he died; whereupon the other fled and came to Medina; and running entered the Masjid. The Prophet ﷺ said: This man has seen something frightful. He said: I swear by Allah that my Companion has been killed; and im as good as dead. Abu Basir then arrived and said: Allah has fulfilled your covenant. You returned me to them; but Allah saved me from them. The Prophet ﷺ said: Woe to his mother; stirrer up of war! Would that he had someone i.e. some kinsfolk. When he heard that he knew that he would send him back to them; so he went out and came to the seashore. Abu Jandal escaped and joined Abu Basir till a band of them collected. | The Chapter on Truth And Hypocrisy And Companions In Almadinah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Regarding Treaties With The Enemy in Sunan Abu Dawoud |
