But neither of these taught anyone (Such things) without saying: "We are only for trial; so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls, if they but knew!

For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will, - it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew.

When one of them was pointed out he would put him first in the grave. He said; I am a witness on these. Then he ordered them to be buried with blood on their bodies. Neither did he offer their funeral prayer nor did he get them washed. Jabir Bin Abdullah added : Allah Messenger ﷺ used to ask about the martyrs of Uhud as to which of them knew more of the Quran. And when one of them was pointed out as having more of it he would put him first in the grave and then his companions. Jabir added : My father and my uncle were shrouded in one sheet. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3253		Narrated Zaid Bin Thabit: Abu Bakr AlSiddiq sent for me when the people! of Yamama had been killed i.e.; a number of the Prophet Companions who fought against Mousailama. I went to him and found Umar Bin AlKhattab sitting with him. Abu Bakr then said to me ; Umar has come to me and said: Casualties were heavy among the Qurra of the! Quran i.e. those who knew the Quran by heart on the day of the Battle of Yalmama; and I am afraid that more heavy casualties may take place among the Qurra on other battlefields; whereby a large part of the Quran may be lost. Therefore I suggest; you Abu Bakr order that the Quran be collected. I said to Umar; How can you do something which Allah Apostle did not do? Umar said; By Allah; that is a good project. Umar kept on urging me to accept his proposal till Allah opened my chest for it and I began to realize the good in the idea which Umar had realized. Then Abu Bakr said to me. You are a wise young man and we do not have any suspicion about you; and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah Messenger ﷺ. So you should search for the fragmentary scripts of the Quran and collect it in one book. By Allah If they had ordered me to shift one of the mountains; it would not have been heavier for me than this ordering me to collect the Quran. Then I said to Abu Bakr; How will you do something which Allah Messenger ﷺ did not do? Abu Bakr replied; By Allah; it is a good project. Abu Bakr kept on urging me to accept his idea until Allah opened my chest for what He had opened the chests of Abu Bakr and Umar. So I started looking for the Quran and collecting it from what was written on palmed stalks; thin white stones and also from the men who knew it by heart; till I found the last Verse of Surat AlTauba Repentance with Abi Khuzaima AlAnsari; and I did not find it with anybody other than him. The Verse is: Verily there has come unto you an Apostle Muhammad from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty.. till the end of Surat Baraa AlTauba 9.128-129 Then the complete manuscripts copy of the Quran remained with Abu Bakr till he died; then with Umar till the end of his life; and then with Hafsa; the daughter of Umar. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4457		Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; If the people knew what is the reward of making the call for the prayer and of being in the first row in the prayer ; and if they found no other way to get this privilege except by casting lots; they would certainly cast lots for it. If they knew the reward of the noon prayer; they would race for it; and if they knew the reward of the morning i.e. Fajr and Isha prayers; they would present themselves for the prayer even if they had to crawl to reach there. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-499		Narrated Shaqiq: that he had heard Hudhaifa saying; Once I was sitting with Umar and he said; Who amongst you remembers the statement of Allah Messenger ﷺ about the afflictions? I said; I know it as the Prophet ﷺ had said it. Umar said; No doubt you are bold. I said; The afflictions caused for a man by his wife; money; children and neighbor are expiated by his prayers; fasting; charity and by enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. Umar said; I did not mean that but I asked about that affliction which will spread like the waves of the sea. I Hudhaifa said; O leader of the faithful believers! You need not be afraid of it as there is a closed door between you and it. Umar asked; Will the door be broken or opened? I replied; It will be broken. Umar said; Then it will never be closed again. I was asked whether Umar knew that door. I replied that he knew it as one knows that there will be night before the tomorrow morning. I narrated a Hadith that was free from any misstatement The subnarrator added that they deputized Masruq to ask Hudhaifa about the door. Hudhaifa said; The door was Umar himself. Umar said; I do not ask about that; but I ask about those afflictions which will spread like the waves of the sea. Hudhaifa replied; There is a closed gate in front of those afflictions. Umar asked; Will that gate be opened or broken? He replied; It will be broken. Umar said; Then the gate will not be closed again till the Day of Resurrection. We said to Masruq; Would you ask Hudhaifa whether Umar knew what that gate symbolized? He asked him and he replied He Umar knew it as one knows that there will be night before tomorrow; morning. Umar said; I did not mean that; but I ask about that affliction which will spread like the waves of the sea. I said; O chief of the believers! You need not be afraid of it as there is a closed door between you and it. He asked; Will the door be broken or opened? I replied; No; it will be broken. He said; Then; if it is broken; it will never be closed again? I replied; Yes. Then we were afraid to ask what that door was; so we asked Masruq to inquire; and he asked Hudhaifa regarding it. Hudhaifa said; The door was Umar. We further asked Hudhaifa whether Umar knew what that door meant. Hudhaifa replied in the affirmative and added; He knew it as one knows that there will be a night before the tomorrow morning. SahihMuslim-017-001-17759		It has been narrated on the authority of Abdulrahman Bin Abd Rabb AlKaba who said: I entered the Masjid when Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs was sitting in the shade of the Kaba and the people had gathered around him. I betook myself to them and sat near him. Now Abdullah said: I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. We halted at a place. Some of us began to set right their tents; others began to compete with one another in shooting; and others began to graze their beasts; when an announcer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced that the people should gather together for prayer; so we gathered around the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: It was the duty of every Prophet that has gone before me to guide his followers to what he knew was good for them and warn them against what he knew was bad for them; but this Umma of yours has its days of peace and security in the beginning of its career; and in the last phase of its existence it will be afflicted with trials and with things disagreeable to you. In this phase of the Umma ; there will be tremendous trials one after the other; each making the previous one dwindle into insignificance. When they would be afflicted with a trial; the believer would say: This is going to bring about my destruction. When at the trial is over; they would be afflicted with another trial; and the believer would say: This surely is going to be my end. Whoever wishes to be delivered from the fire and enter the garden should die with faith in Allah and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them. He who swears allegiance to a Caliph should give him the piedge of his hand and the sincerity of his heart i. e. submit to him both outwardly as well as inwardly. He should obey him to the best of his capacity. It another man comes forward as a claimant to Caliphate ; disputing his authority; they the Muslims should behead the latter. The narrator says: I came close to him Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs and said to him: Can you say on oath that you heard it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? He pointed with his hands to his ears and his heart and said: My ears heard it and my mind retained it. I said to him: This cousin of yours; Muawiya; orders us to unjustly consume our wealth among ourselves and to kill one another; while Allah says: O ye who believe; do not consume your wealth among yourselves unjustly; unless it be trade based on mutual agreement; and do not kill yourselves. Verily; God is Merciful to you iv. 29. The narrator says that hearing this Abdullah Bin Amr Bin AlAs kept quiet for a while and then said: Obey him in so far as he is obedient to God; and diqobey him in matters involving disobedience to God. SahihMuslim-017-001-18150		It has been narrated on the authority of Yazid Bin Hurmuz who said: Najda Bin Amir AlHaruri wrote to Ibn Abbas asking him about the slave and the woman as to whether they would get a share from the booty it they participated in Jihad ; about the killing of enemy children in war ; about the orphan as to when his orphanhood comes to an end; about kinsmen of the Holy Prophet as to who they are. He said to Yazid: Write to him. If he were not likely to fall into folly; I would not have written to him. Write: You have written asking about the woman and the slave whether they would get a share of the booty if they participated in Jihad. You should know that there is nothing of the sort for them except that they will be given a prize. And you have written asking me about the killing of the enemy children in war. You should understand that the Messenger of Allah may peare be upon him did not kill them. and thou shouldst not kill them unless thou knew what the companion of Moses i. e. Khadir knew about the boy he had killed. And you have written asking me about the orphan as to when the period of his orphanhood comes to an end; so that the sobriquet of orphan is dropped from him. In this regard; you should know that the sobriquet orphan will not be dropped from him until he attains maturity of body and mind. And you have written asking me about the close relatives of the Holy Prophet as to who they are. We think that it is we; but our people have denied us this position and its concomitant privileges. SahihMuslim-017-001-18668		It is narrated on the authority of Saad that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bestowed upon a group of persons things ; and Saad was sitting amongst them. Saad said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ignored some of them. And he who was ignored seemed to be more deserving in my eyes as compared with others. I Sad said: Messenger of Allah I why is it that you did not give to such and such man ? Verily I see him a believer. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ observed: Or a Muslim? I kept quiet for some time but I was again impelled to express what I knew about him. I said: Messenger of Allah why is it that you did not give it to such and such? Verily; by Allah; see him a believer. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: Nay; not a believer but a Muslim. He Sad said: I again kept quite for some time but what I knew about him again impelled me to express my opinion and I said: Why is it that you did not give the share to so and so: By Allah; verily I see him a believer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked; Nay; not so but a Muslim. Verily at times I give a share to a certain man apprehending that he may not be thrown prostrate in the Fire; whereas the other man who is not given is dearer to me as compared with him. SahihMuslim-017-001-22069		Saad reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bestowed some gifts upon a group of people and I was sitting amongst them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; however; left a person and he did not give him anything. and he seemed to me the most excellent among them and thus deserved the gifts more than anyone else. So I stood up before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him in undertone: Messenger of Allah; what about so and so? By Allah; I find him a believer. He the Messenger of Allah said: He may be a Muslim. I kept quiet for a short while; and then what I knew of him urged me to plead his case again and I said: Messenger of Allah; what about so and so? By Allah; I find him a believer. Upon this he the Holy Prophet said: He may be a Muslim. I again remained quiet for a short while; and what I knew of him again urged me to plead his case so I said: Messenger of Allah; what about so and so? By Allah; I find him a believer. Upon this he the Holy Prophet said: He may be a Muslim. I often bestow something upon a person; whereas someone else is dearer to me than he; because of the fear that he may fall headlong into the fire. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. So they say: We knew that you would say this. Then his grave is expanded to seventy by seventy cubits; then it is illuminated for him. Then it is said to him: Sleep. So he said: Can I return to my family to inform them? They say: Sleep as a newlywed; whom none awakens but the dearest of his family. Until Allah resurrects him from his resting place.If he was a hypocrite he would say: I heard people saying something; so I said the same; I do not know. So they said: We knew you would say that. So the earth is told: Constrict him. So it constricts around him; squeezing his ribs together. He continues being punished like that until Allah resurrects him from his resting place. Then the caller of the Prophet called out: AlPrayeru Jamiah prayer is about to begin. So we gathered; and the Messenger of Allah stood up and addressed us. He said: There has a never been a prophet before me who was not obliged to tell his nation of what he knew was good for them; and to warn against that he knew was bad for them. With regard to Ummah of yours; soundness of religious commitment has been placed in its earlier generations; and the last of them will be afflicted with calamities and things that you dislike. Then there will come tribulations which will make the earlier ones pale into significances; and the believer will say: This will be then end of me; then relief will come. Then more tribulations will come and the believer will say: this will be the end of me; then relief will come. Whoever would like to be taken far away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise; let him die believing in Allah and the Last Day; and let him treat people as he would like to be treated. Whoever pledges to a ruler and gives him the grasp of his hand and the sincerity of his heart; the let him obey him as much as he can; and if another comes and challenges him; let them strike the neck of i.e.; kill the second one.He said: I drew near to him and said: Did you hear the Messenger of Allah say that? I used to discuss it with Ibrahim and others. I did not find anyone who narrated it from Hisham and knew it. I did not know anyone who reported it from Hisham and knew it. I did not know anyone who related it from Hisham. I think the confusion is on the part of Ibn Abi Saminah that is; Muhammad Bin Ismail AlBasri; the freed slave of Banu Hisham. In this tradition the mention of words a Magian is rejected; the mention of the words at a stone throw and a pig is rejected.Abu Dawud said: I did not hear this tradition except from Muhammad Bin Ismail Bin Samurrah and I think he was mistaken because he used to narrate to us from his memory. He stood; and did so for a long time. Then he went into ruku; and made the ruku long. Then he stood again; and did so for a long time; though not as long as the first time. Then he went into ruku; and made the ruku long; though not as long as thefirst time. Then he rose; and went down into sajda. He then did the same in the second raka; and by the time he had finished the sun had appeared. He then gave a khutba to the people; in which he praised Allah and then said; The sun and the moon are two of Allah signs. They do not eclipse for anyone death nor for anyone life. When you see an eclipse; call on Allah and say; Allah is greater and give sadaqa. Then he said; O community of Muhammad! ByAllah; there is no-one more jealous than Allah of a male or female slave of his who commits adultery. O community of Muhammad!
