SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6096 | Narrated AlBara bin Azib : When the Prophet ﷺ came to Medina; he stayed first with his grandfathers or maternal uncles from Ansar. He offered his prayers facing Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months; but he wished that he could pray facing the Kaba at Mecca. The first prayer which he offered facing the Kaba was the Asr prayer in the company of some people. Then one of those who had offered that prayer with him came out and passed by some people in a Masjid who were bowing during their prayers facing Jerusalem. He said addressing them; By Allah; I testify that I have prayed with Allah Messenger ﷺ facing Mecca Kaba. Hearing that; those people changed their direction towards the Kaba immediately. Jews and the people of the scriptures used to be pleased to see the Prophet ﷺ facing Jerusalem in prayers but when he changed his direction towards the Kaba; during the prayers; they disapproved of it. AlBara added; Before we changed our direction towards the Kaba Mecca in prayers; some Muslims had died or had been killed and we did not know what to say about them regarding their prayers. Allah then revealed: And Allah would never make your faith prayers to be lost i.e. the prayers of those Muslims were valid. 2:143. | The Chapter on Changing The Qiblah in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The offering of Salat prayers is a part of faith in Sahih AlBukhari

When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina; Saad went to perform Umra and stayed at Umaiya home in Mecca. He said to Umaiya; Tell me of a time when the Masjid is empty so that I may be able to perform Tawaf around the Kaba. So Umaiya went with him about midday. Abu Jahl met them and said; O Abu Safwan! Who is this man accompanying you? He said; He is Sad. Abu Jahl addressed Saad saying; I see you wandering about safely in Mecca inspite of the fact that you have given shelter to the people who have changed their religion i.e. became Muslims and have claimed that you will help them and support them. By Allah; if you were not in the company of Abu Safwan; you would not be able to go your family safely. Sad; raising his voice; said to him; By Allah; if you should stop me from doing this i.e. performing Tawaf I would certainly prevent you from something which is more valuable for you; that is; your passage through Medina. On this; Umaiya said to him; O Saad do not raise your voice before Abu AlHakam; the chief of the people of the Valley of Mecca. Saad said; O Umaiya; stop that! By Allah; I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ predicting that the Muslim will kill you. Umaiya asked; In Mecca? Saad said; I do not know. Umaiya was greatly scared by that news. When Umaiya returned to his family; he said to his wife; O Um Safwan! Dont you know what Saad told me? She said; What has he told you? He replied; He claims that Muhammad has informed them i.e. companions that they will kill me. I asked him; In Mecca? He replied; I do not know. Then Umaiya added; By Allah; I will never go out of Mecca. But when the day of the Ghazwa of Badr came; Abu Jahl called the people to war; saying; Go and protect your caravan. But Umaiya disliked to go out of Mecca. Abu Jahl came to him and said; O Abu Safwan! If the people see you staying behind though you are the chief of the people of the Valley; then they will remain behind with you. Abu Jahl kept on urging him to go until he i.e. Umaiya said; As you have forced me to change my mind; by Allah; I will buy the best camel in Mecca. Then Umaiya said to his wife. O Um Safwan; prepare what I need for the journey. She said to him; O Abu Safwan! Have you forgotten what your Yathribi brother told you? He said; No; but I do not want to go with them but for a short distance. So when Umaiya went out; he used to tie his camel wherever he camped. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6582 | Narrated Aisha: Fatima the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ sent someone to Abu Bakr when he was a caliph ; asking for her inheritance of what Allah Messenger ﷺ had left of the property bestowed on him by Allah from the Fai i.e. booty gained without fighting in Medina; and Fadak; and what remained of the Khumus of the Khaibar booty. On that; Abu Bakr said; Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Our property is not inherited. Whatever we leave; is Sadaqa; but the family of the Prophet Muhammad can eat of this property. By Allah; I will not make any change in the state of the Sadaqa of Allah Messenger ﷺ and will leave it as it was during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and will dispose of it as Allah Messenger ﷺ used to do. So Abu Bakr refused to give anything of that to Fatima. So she became angry with Abu Bakr and kept away from him; and did not task to him till she died. She remained alive for six months after the death of the Prophet. When she died; her husband Ali; buried her at night without informing Abu Bakr and he said the funeral prayer by himself. When Fatima was alive; the people used to respect Ali much; but after her death; Ali noticed a change in the people attitude towards him. So Ali sought reconciliation with Abu Bakr and gave him an oath of allegiance. Ali had not given the oath of allegiance during those months i.e. the period between the Prophet death and Fatima death. Ali sent someone to Abu Bakr saying; Come to us; but let nobody come with you; as he disliked that Umar should come; Umar said to Abu Bakr ; No; by Allah; you shall not enter upon them alone Abu Bakr said; What do you think they will do to me? By Allah; I will go to them So Abu Bakr entered upon them; and then Ali uttered Tashah-hud and said to Abu Bakr ; We know well your superiority and what Allah has given you; and we are not jealous of the good what Allah has bestowed upon you; but you did not consult us in the question of the rule and we thought that we have got a right in it because of our near relationship to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Thereupon Abu Bakr eyes flowed with tears. And when Abu Bakr spoke; he said; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is to keep good relations with the relatives of Allah Messenger ﷺ is dearer to me than to keep good relations with my own relatives. But as for the trouble which arose between me and you about his property; I will do my best to spend it according to what is good; and will not leave any rule or regulation which I saw Allah Messenger ﷺ following; in disposing of it; but I will follow. On that Ali said to Abu Bakr; I promise to give you the oath of allegiance in this after noon. So when Abu Bakr had offered the Zuhr prayer; he ascended the pulpit and uttered the Tashah-hud and then mentioned the story of Ali and his failure to give the oath of allegiance; and excused him; accepting what excuses he had offered; Then Ali got up and praying to Allah for forgiveness; he uttered Tashah-hud; praised Abu Bakr right; and said; that he had not done what he had done because of jealousy of Abu Bakr or as a protest of that Allah had favored him with. Ali added; But we used to consider that we too had some right in this affair of rulership and that he i.e. Abu Bakr did not consult us in this matter; and therefore caused us to feel sorry. On that all the Muslims became happy and said; You have done the right thing. The Muslims then became friendly with Ali as he returned to what the people had done i.e. giving the oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr. | The Chapter on Oaths And Pledges And Charity in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Ghazwa of Khaibar in Sahih AlBukhari

MuwataMalik-017-001-34885 | Malik related to me from Nafi from Abdullah Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It is the duty of a muslim man who has something to be given as a bequest not to spend two nights without writing a will about it. Malik said; The generally agreed-on way of doing things in our community is that when the testator writes something in health or illness as a bequest; and it has freeing slaves or things other than that in it; he can alter it in any way he chooses; until he is on his deathbed. If he prefers to abandon a bequest or change it; he can do so unless he has made a slave mudabbar to be freed after his death. If he has made him mudabbar; there is no way to change what he has made mudabbar. He is allowed to change his testament because the Messenger of Allah; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; It is the duty of a muslim man who has something to be given as a bequest not to spend two nights without writing a will about it. Malik explained; Had the testator not been able to change his will nor what was mentioned in it about freeing slaves; each testator might withhold making bequests from his property; whether in freeing slaves or other than it. A man gives a bequest in his health and in his travelling. i.e. he does not wait till his death bed. Malik summed up; The way of doing things in our community about which there is no dispute is that he can change whatever he likes of that except for the mudabbar. | The Chapter on Selling Of Slaves in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Hair in Muwata Malik |
