SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1939		Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: Ali Bin Abu Talib came out of the house of the Prophet ﷺ during his fatal ailment. The people asked Ali ; O AbuHassan How is the health of Allah Messenger ﷺ this morning? Ali said; This morning he is better; with the grace of Allah. AlAbbas held Ali by the hand and said; Dont you see him about to die ? By Allah; within three days you will be the slave of the stick i.e.; under the command of another ruler. By Allah; I think that Allah Messenger ﷺ will die from his present ailment; for I know the signs of death on the faces of the offspring of Abdul Muttalib. So let us go to Allah Messenger ﷺ to ask him who will take over the Caliphate. If the authority is given to us; we will know it; and if it is given to somebody else we will request him to recommend us to him. Ali said; By Allah! If we ask Allah Messenger ﷺ for the rulership and he refuses; then the people will never give it to us. Besides; I will never ask Allah Messenger ﷺ for it. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-2015		Narrated Sahl Bin Sad: There was a man who fought most bravely of all the Muslims on behalf of the Muslims in a battle Ghazwa in the company of the Prophet. The Prophet ﷺ looked at him and said. If anyone would like to see a man from the people of the Fire; let him look at this brave man. On that; a man from the People Muslims followed him; and he was in that state i.e.; fighting fiercely against the pagans till he was wounded; and then he hastened to end his life by placing his sword between his breasts and pressed it with great force till it came out between his shoulders. Then the man who was watching that person went quickly to the Prophet ﷺ and said; I testify that you are Allah Messenger ﷺ ! The Prophet ﷺ asked him; Why do you say that? He said; You said about so-and-so; If anyone would like to see a man from the people of the Fire; he should look at him. He fought most bravely of all of us on behalf of the Muslims and I knew that he would not die as a Muslim Martyr. So when he got wounded; he hastened to die and committed suicide. There-upon the Prophet ﷺ said; A man may do the deeds of the people of the Fire while in fact he is one of the people of Paradise; and he may do the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact he belongs to the people of Fire; and verily; the rewards of the deeds are decided by the last actions deeds. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-320		Narrated Hisham father: Aisha said; I went to Abu Bakr during his fatal illness and he asked me; In how many garments was the Prophet ﷺ shrouded? She replied; In three Suhuliya pieces of white cloth of cotton; and there was neither a shirt nor a turban among them. Abu Bakr further asked her; On which day did the Prophet die? She replied; He died on Monday. He asked; What is today? She replied; Today is Monday. He added; I hope I shall die sometime between this morning and tonight. Then he looked at a garment that he was wearing during his illness and it had some stains of saffron. Then he said; Wash this garment of mine and add two more garments and shroud me in them. I said; This is worn out. He said; A living person has more right to wear new clothes than a dead one; the shroud is only for the body pus. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3351		Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet Allah Messenger ﷺ died while Abu Bakr was at a place called AlSunah AlAliya Umar stood up and said; By Allah! Allah Messenger ﷺ is not dead! Umar later on said; By Allah! Nothing occurred to my mind except that. He said; Verily! Allah will resurrect him and he will cut the hands and legs of some men. Then Abu Bakr came and uncovered the face of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; kissed him and said; Let my mother and father be sacrificed for you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ; you are good in life and in death. By Allah in Whose Hands my life is; Allah will never make you taste death twice. Then he went out and said; O oath-taker! Dont be hasty. When Abu Bakr spoke; Umar sat down. Abu Bakr praised and glorified Allah and said; No doubt! Whoever worshipped Muhammad; then Muhammad is dead; but whoever worshipped Allah; then Allah is Alive and shall never die. Then he recited Allah Statement.:- O Muhammad Verily you will die; and they also will die. 39.30 He also recited:- Muhammad is no more than an Apostle; and indeed many Apostles have passed away; before him; If he dies Or is killed; will you then Turn back on your heels? And he who turns back On his heels; not the least Harm will he do to Allah And Allah will give reward to those Who are grateful. 3.144 The people wept loudly; and the Ansar were assembled with Sad Bin Ubada in the shed of Bani Saida. They said to the emigrants. There should be one Amir from us and one from you. Then Abu Bakr; Umar Bin AlKhattab and Abu baida Bin AlJarrah went to them. Umar wanted to speak but Abu Bakr stopped him. Umar later on used to say; By Allah; I intended only to say something that appealed to me and I was afraid that Abu Bakr would not speak so well. Then Abu Bakr spoke and his speech was very eloquent. He said in his statement; We are the rulers and you Ansars are the ministers i.e. advisers ; Hubab Bin AlMundhir said; No; by Allah we wont accept this. But there must be a ruler from us and a ruler from you. Abu Bakr said; No; we will be the rulers and you will be the ministers; for they i.e. Quarish are the best family amongst the Arabs and of best origin. So you should elect either Umar or Abu Ubaida Bin AlJarrah as your ruler. Umar said to Abu Bakr ; No but we elect you; for you are our chief and the best amongst us and the most beloved of all of us to Allah Messenger ﷺ. So Umar took Abu Bakr hand and gave the pledge of allegiance and the people too gave the pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr. Someone said; You have killed Sad Bin Ubada. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4202		Narrated Abu Huraira: The Angel of Death was sent to Moses when he came to Moses; Moses slapped him on the eye. The angel returned to his Lord and said; You have sent me to a Slave who does not want to die. Allah said; Return to him and tell him to put his hand on the back of an ox and for every hair that will come under it; he will be granted one year of life. Moses said; O Lord! What will happen after that? Allah replied; Then death. Moses said; Let it come now. Moses then requested Allah to let him die close to the Sacred Land so much so that he would be at a distance of a stone throw from it. I went to him to demand it; but he said to me; I will not pay you unless you reject faith in Muhammad. I replied; By Allah; I will never disbelieve Muhammad till Allah let you die and then resurrect you. He said; Then wait till I die and come to life again; for then I will be given property and offspring and will pay your right. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5486		Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said; The Prophet ﷺ Abraham emigrated with Sarah and entered a village where there was a king or a tyrant. The king was told that Abraham had entered the village accompanied by a woman who was one of the most charming women. So; the king sent for Abraham and asked; O Abraham! Who is this lady accompanying you? Abraham replied; She is my sister i.e. in religion. Then Abraham returned to her and said; Do not contradict my statement; for I have informed them that you are my sister. By Allah; there are no true believers on this land except you and 1. Then Abraham sent her to the king. When the king got to her; she got up and performed ablution; prayed and said; O Allah! If I have believed in You and Your Apostle; and have saved my private parts from everybody except my husband; then please do not let this pagan overpower me. On that the king fell in a mood of agitation and started moving his legs. Seeing the condition of the king; Sarah said; O Allah! If he should die; the people will say that I have killed him. The king regained his power; and proceeded towards her but she got up again and performed ablution; prayed and said; O Allah! If I have believed in You and Your Apostle and have kept my private parts safe from all except my husband; then please do not let this pagan overpower me. The king again fell in a mood of agitation and started moving his legs. On seeing that state of the king; Sarah said; O Allah! If he should die; the people will say that I have killed him. The king got either two or three attacks; and after recovering from the last attack he said; By Allah! You have sent a satan to me. Take her to Abraham and give her Ajar. So she came back to Abraham and said; Allah humiliated the pagan and gave us a slave-girl for service. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6157		Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Some women requested the Prophet ﷺ to fix a day for them as the men were taking all his time. La Maljaa wa la manja minka illa ilaika. Allahumma amantu bikitabika Alladhi anzalta wa bina-biyika-l ladhi arsalta O Allah! I surrender to You and entrust all my affairs to You and depend upon You for Your Blessings both with hope and fear of You. There is no fleeing from You; and there is no place of protection and safety except with You O Allah! I believe in Your Book the Quran which You have revealed and in Your Prophet Muhammad whom You have sent. Then if you die on that very night; you will die with faith i.e. or the religion of Islam. Let the aforesaid words be your last utterance before sleep. I repeated it before the Prophet ﷺ and when I reached Allahumma amantu bikitabika Alladhi anzalta O Allah I believe in Your Book which You have revealed. I said; Wa-rasulika and your Apostle. The Prophet ﷺ said; No; but say : Wanabiyika Alladhi arsalta Your Prophet whom You have sent ; instead. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6991		Narrated Abdullah Bin Kaab I heard Kaab Bin Malik who was one of the three who were forgiven; saying that he had never remained behind Allah Messenger ﷺ in any Ghazwa which he had fought except two Ghazwat Ghazwat- AlUsra Tabuk and Ghazwat-Badr. He added. I decided to tell the truth to Allah Messenger ﷺ in the forenoon; and scarcely did he return from a journey he made; except in the forenoon; he would go first to the Masjid and offer a two-rakat prayer. The Prophet ﷺ forbade others to speak to me or to my two companions; but he did not prohibit speaking to any of those who had remained behind excepting us. So the people avoided speaking to us; and I stayed in that state till I could no longer bear it; and the only thing that worried me was that I might die and the Prophet ﷺ would not offer the funeral prayer for me; or Allah Messenger ﷺ might die and I would be left in that social status among the people that nobody would speak to me or offer the funeral prayer for me. But Allah revealed His Forgiveness for us to the Prophet ﷺ in the last third of the night while Allah Messenger ﷺ was with Um Salama. Umm Salamah sympathized with me and helped me in my disaster. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; O Umm Salamah ! Kaab has been forgiven! She said; Shall I send someone to him to give him the good tidings? He said; If you did so; the people would not let you sleep the rest of the night. So when the Prophet ﷺ had offered the Fajr prayer; he announced Allah Forgiveness for us. His face used to look as bright as a piece of the full moon whenever he was pleased. When Allah revealed His Forgiveness for us; we were the three whose case had been deferred while the excuse presented by those who had apologized had been accepted. But when there were mentioned those who had told the Prophet ﷺ lies and remained behind the battle of Tabuk and had given false excuses; they were described with the worse description one may be described with. Allah said: They will present their excuses to you Muslims when you return to them. Say: Present no excuses; we shall not believe you. Allah has already informed us of the true state of matters concerning you. SahihMuslim-017-001-18610		It is narrated on the authority of Ibn Shamasa Mahri that he said: We went to Amr Bin AlAs and he was about to die. He wept for a long time and turned his face towards the wall. His son said: Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not give you tidings of this? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not give you tidings of this? He the narrator said: He turned his face towards the audience and said: The best thing which we can count upon is the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Verily I have passed through three phases. The first one in which I found myself averse to none else more than I was averse to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and there was no other desire stronger in me than the one that I should overpower him and kill him. Had I died in this state; I would have been definitely one of the denizens of Fire. When Allah instilled the love of Islam in my heart; I came to the Apostle ﷺ and said: Stretch out your right hand so that may pledge my allegiance to you. He stretched out his right hand; I withdrew my hand; He the Holy Prophet said: What has happened to you; O Amr? replied: I intend to lay down some condition. He asked: What condition do you intend to put forward? I said: should be granted pardon. He the Holy Prophet observed: Are you not aware of the fact that Islam wipes out all the previous misdeeds ? Verily migration wipes out all the previous misdeeds ; and verily the pilgrimage wipes out all the previous misdeeds. And then no one as or dear to me than the Messenger of Allah and none was more sublime in my eyes than he; Never could I; pluck courage to catch a full glimpse of his face due to its splendour. So if I am asked to describe his features; I cannot do that for I have not eyed him fully. Had I died in this state had every reason to hope that I would have bee among the dwellers of Paradise. Then we were responsible for certain things in the light of which I am unable to know what is in store for me. When I die; let neither female mourner nor fire accompany me. When you bury me; fill my grave well with earth; then stand around it for the time within which a camel is slaughtered and its meat is distributed so that I may enjoy your intimacy and in your company ascertain what answer I can give to the messengers angels of Allah. Zuhri said: These two ahidith show that a person rhould neither feel confident of getting into Paradise because of his deeds; nor should he lose all hopes of getting into Paradise. I retreat unto Thee for protection with hope in Thee and fear of Thee. There is no resort and no deliverer from hardship but Thou only. Make this as the last word of yours when you go to sleep and in case you die during that night; you would die upon Fitra upon Islam. The Angel went back to Allah the Exalted and said: You sent me to your servant who does not like to die and he knocked out my eye. He said: Then you would die; whereupon he Moses said: Then why not now? He then prayed : Allah; cause me to die close to the sacred land. I stood up and said to him: They say such and such thing about you ; whereupon he said: Hallowed be Allah; it is not meet for them to say anything of which They have no knowledge. Verily I saw as if a pillar had been raised in a green garden and there had been fixed at its upper end a handhold and there was a helper at its base. It was said to me: Climb up. So I climbed up and caught hold of the haildhold. I narrated the contents of this dream to Allah Messenger ﷺ ; whereupon he said: Abdullah would die in a state that he would be catching hold of the firmest handhold he would die holding fast to the faith. MuwataMalik-017-001-34952		Malik related to me from Ibn Shihab from Urwa Ibn AlZubair that Aisha; the wife of the Prophet; may Allah bless him and grant him peace; said; Abu Bakr AlSiddiq gave me palm trees whose produce was twenty awsuq from his property at AlGhaba. When he was dying; he said; By Allah; little daughter; there is no one I would prefer to be wealthy after I die than you. There is no one it is more difficult for me to see poor after I die than you. I gave you palm-trees whose produce is twenty awsuq. Had you cut them and taken possession of them; they would have been yours; but today they are the property of the heirs; and they are your two brothers and your two sisters; so divide it according to the Book of Allah. Aisha continued; I said; My father! By Allah; even if it had been more; I would have left it. There is only Asma. Who is my other sister? Abu Bakr replied; What is in the womb of Kharija? Kharija was the wife of Abu Bakr brother from the Ansar. I think that it is going to be a girl. MuwataMalik-017-001-35157		Yahya related to me from Malik from Rabia Ibn Abi Abdulrahman from more than one of the people of knowledge of that time; that those who were killed on the Day of the Camel; the Day of Siffin; the Day of AlHarra; and the Day of Qudayd did not inherit from each other. None of them inherited anything from his companion unless it was known that he had been killed before his companion. Malik said; That is the way of doing things about which there is no dispute; and which none of the people of knowledge in our city doubt. The procedure with two mutual heirs who are drowned; or killed in another way; when it is not known which of them died first is the same - neither of them inherits anything from his companion. Their inheritance goes to whoever remains of their heirs. They are inherited from by the living. Malik said; No one should inherit from anyone else when there is doubt; and one should only inherit from the other when there is certainty of knowledge and witnesses. That is because a man and his mawla whom his father has freed might die at the same time. The sons of the free man could say; Our father inherited from the mawla. They should not inherit from the mawla without knowledge or testimony that he died first. The living people most entitled to his wala inherit from him. Malik said; Another example is two full brothers who die. One of them has children and the other does not. They have a half-brother by their father. It is not known which of them died first; so the inheritance of the childless one goes to his half-brother by the father. The children of the full-brother get nothing. Malik said; Another example is when a paternal aunt and the son of her brother die; or else the daughter of the brother and her paternal uncle. It is not known which of them died first. The paternal uncle does not inherit anything from the daughter of his brother; and the son of the brother does not inherit anything from his paternal aunt.
