And there is none who likes that the people should repent to Him and beg His pardon than Allah; and for this reason He sent the warners and the givers of good news. And there is none who likes to be praised more than Allah does; and for this reason; Allah promised to grant Paradise to the doers of good. Abdul Malik said; No person has more Ghira than Allah. | The Chapter on Good Manners And Ghira in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on No person has more Ghaira than Allah in Sahih AlBukhari

Accept the good news; as Bani Tamim have refused it. They said; We accept it; for we have come to you to learn the Religion. So we ask you what the beginning of this universe was. The Prophet ﷺ said There was Allah and nothing else before Him and His Throne was over the water; and He then created the Heavens and the Earth and wrote everything in the Book. Then a man came to me and said; O Imran! Follow your camel for it has run away! So I set out seeking it; and behold; it was beyond the mirage! He said: It is not like this; but it is meant that when the time of the death of a believer approaches; he receives the good news of Allah pleasure with him and His blessings upon him; and so at that time nothing is dearer to him than what is in front of him. He therefore loves the meeting with Allah; and Allah too loves the meeting with him. At that time children will become hoary-headed and every pregnant female will drop her load have an abortion and you will see the people as if they were drunk; yet not drunk; But Allah punishment will be very severe. That news distressed the companions of the Prophet ﷺ too much; and they said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Who amongst us will be that man the lucky one out of one-thousand who will be saved from the Fire ? He said; Have the good news that one-thousand will be from Gog and Magog; and the one to be saved will be from you. The Prophet ﷺ added; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is; I Hope that you Muslims will be one third of the people of Paradise. On that; we glorified and praised Allah and said; Allahu Akbar. The Prophet ﷺ then said; By Him in Whose Hand my soul is; I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise; as your Muslims example in comparison to the other people non-Muslims ; is like that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox; or a round hairless spot on the foreleg of a donkey. | The Chapter on Charity To Save Oneself From Hell Fire in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Who associate others in worship with Allah in Sahih AlBukhari

Jabir had a piece of land which was on the way to Ruma. That year the land was not promising; so the payment of the debt was delayed one year. The Jew came to me at the time of plucking; but gathered nothing from my land. I asked him to give me one year respite; but he refused. This news reached the Prophet ﷺ whereupon he said to his companions; Let us go and ask the Jew for respite for Jabir. All of them came to me in my garden; and the Prophet ﷺ started speaking to the Jew; but he Jew said; O Abu Qasim! I will not grant him respite. When the Prophet ﷺ saw the Jew attitude; he stood up and walked all around the garden and came again and talked to the Jew; but the Jew refused his request. I got up and brought some ripe fresh dates and put it in front of the Prophet. He ate and then said to me; Where is your hut; O Jabir? I informed him; and he said; Spread out a bed for me in it. I spread out a bed; and he entered and slept. When he woke up; I brought some dates to him again and he ate of it and then got up and talked to the Jew again; but the Jew again refused his request. Then the Prophet ﷺ got up for the second time amidst the palm trees loaded with fresh dates; and said; O Jabir! Pluck dates to repay your debt. The Jew remained with me while I was plucking the dates; till I paid him all his right; yet there remained extra quantity of dates. So I went out and proceeded till I reached the Prophet and informed him of the good news; whereupon he said; I testify that I am Allah Messenger ﷺ. | The Chapter on Food And Trees in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The eating of a spadix of the palm tree in Sahih AlBukhari

When this news reached the Prophet ﷺ he called the Ansar and said; What is this news that has reached me from you? They used not to tell lies; so they replied; What has reached you is true. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3724 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: When Abu Dhar received the news of the Advent of the Prophet ﷺ he said to his brother; Ride to this valley of Mecca and try to find out the truth of the person who claims to be a prophet who is informed of the news of Heaven. Listen to what he says and come back to me. So his brother set out and came to the Prophet ﷺ and listened to some of his talks; and returned to Abu Dhar and said to him. I have seen him enjoining virtuous behavior and saying something that is not poetry. Abu Dhar said; You have not satisfied me as to what I wanted. He then took his journey-food and carried a waterskin of his; containing some water till be reached Mecca. He went to the Masjid and searched for the Prophet and though he did not know him; he hated to ask anybody about him. When a part of the night had passed away; Ali saw him and knew that he was a stranger. So when Abu Dhar saw Ali; he followed him; and none of them asked his companion about anything; and when it was dawn; Abu Dhar took his journey food and his water-skin to the Masjid and stayed there all the day long without being perceived by the Prophet; and when it was evening; he came back to his retiring place. Ali passed by him and said; Has the man not known his dwelling place yet? So Ali awakened him and took him with him and none of them spoke to the other about anything. When it was the third day. Ali did the same and Abu Dhar stayed with him. Then Ali said Will you tell me what has brought you here? Abu Dhar said; If you give me a firm promise that you will guide me; then I will tell you. Ali promised him; and he informed Ali about the matter. Ali said; It is true; and he is the Messenger of Allah. Next morning when you get up; accompany me; and if I see any danger for you; I will stop as if to pass water; but if I go on; follow me and enter the place which I will enter. Abu Dhar did so; and followed Ali till he entered the place of the Prophet; and Abu Dhar went in with him; Abu Dhar listened to some of the Prophet talks and embraced Islam on the spot. The Prophet ﷺ said to him; Go back to your people and inform them about it till you receive my order. Abu Dhar said; By Him in Whose Hand my life is; I will proclaim my conversion loudly amongst them i.e. the pagans. So he went out; and when he reached the Masjid; he said as loudly as possible; I bear witness that None has the right to be worshipped except Allah; and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The People got up and beat him painfully. Then AlAbbas came and knelt over him to protect him and said to the people ; Woe to you! Dont you know that this man belongs to the tribe of Ghifar and your trade to Sham is through their way? So he rescued him from them. Abu Dhar again did the same the next day. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3774 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina with Abu Bakr; riding behind him on the same camel. Abu Bakr was an elderly man known to the people; while Allah Messenger ﷺ was a youth that was unknown. Thus; if a man met Abu Bakr; he would say; O Abu Bakr! Who is this man in front of you? Abu Bakr would say; This man shows me the Way; One would think that Abu Bakr meant the road; while in fact; Abu Bakr meant the way of virtue and good. Then Abu Bakr looked behind and saw a horse-rider pursuing them. He said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is a horse-rider pursuing us. The Prophet ﷺ looked behind and said; O Allah! Cause him to fall down. So the horse threw him down and got up neighing. After that the rider; Suraqa said; O Allah Prophet! Order me whatever you want. The Prophet said; Stay where you are and do not allow anybody to reach us. So; in the first part of the day Suraqa was an enemy of Allah Prophet and in the last part of it; he was a protector. Then Allah Apostle alighted by the side of the AlHarra and sent a message to the Ansar; and they came to Allah Prophet and Abu Bakr; and having greeted them; they said; Ride your camels safe and obeyed. Allah Messenger ﷺ and Abu Bakr rode and the Ansar; carrying their arms; surrounded them. The news that Allah Prophet had come circulated in Medina. The people came out and were eagerly looking and saying Allah Prophet has come! Allah Prophet has come! So the Prophet ﷺ went on till he alighted near the house of Abu Ayoub. While the Prophet ﷺ was speaking with the family members of Abu Ayoub ; Abdullah Bin Salam heard the news of his arrival while he himself was picking the dates for his family from his family garden. He hurried to the Prophet ﷺ carrying the dates which he had collected for his family from the garden. He listened to Allah Prophet and then went home. Then Allah Prophet said; Which is the nearest of the houses of our kith and kin? Abu Ayoub replied; Mine; O Allah Prophet! This is my house and this is my gate. The Prophet ﷺ said; Go and prepare a place for our midday rest. Abu Ayoub said; Get up both of you with Allah Blessings. So when Allah Prophet went into the house; Abdullah Bin Salam came and said I testify that you i.e. Muhammad are Apostle of Allah and that you have come with the Truth. The Jews know well that I am their chief and the son of their chief and the most learned amongst them and the son of the most learned amongst them. So send for them i.e. Jews and ask them about me before they know that I have embraced Islam; for if they know that they will say about me things which are not correct. So Allah Messenger ﷺ sent for them; and they came and entered. Allah Messenger ﷺ said to them; O the group of Jews! Woe to you: be afraid of Allah. By Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped; you people know for certain; that I am Apostle of Allah and that I have come to you with the Truth; so embrace Islam. The Jews replied; We do not know this. So they said this to the Prophet and he repeated it thrice. Then he said; What sort of a man is Abdullah Bin Salam amongst you? They said; He is our chief and the son of our chief and the most learned man; and the son of the most learned amongst us. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; What would you think if he should embrace Islam? They said; Allah forbid! He can not embrace Islam. He said; O Ibn Salam! Come out to them. He came out and said; O the group of Jews! Be afraid of Allah except Whom none has the right to be worshipped. You know for certain that he is Apostle of Allah and that he has brought a True Religion! They said; You tell a lie. On that Allah Messenger ﷺ turned them out. | The Chapter on Pre-Islam And Jews in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The emigration of the Prophet to AlMadina in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4708 | Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent a Sariya of ten men as spies under the leadership of Aasi m Bin Thabit AlAnsari; the grandfather of Aasi m Bin Umar AlKhattab. They proceeded till they reached Hadaa; a place between Usfan; and Mecca; and their news reached a branch of the tribe of Hudhail called Bani Lihyan. About two-hundred men; who were all archers; hurried to follow their tracks till they found the place where they had eaten dates they had brought with them from Medina. They said; These are the dates of Yathrib i.e. Medina ; and continued following their tracks When Aasi m and his companions saw their pursuers; they went up a high place and the infidels circled them. The infidels said to them; Come down and surrender; and we promise and guarantee you that we will not kill any one of you Aasi m Bin Thabit; the leader of the Sariya said; By Allah! I will not come down to be under the protection of infidels. O Allah! Convey our news to Your Prophet. Then the infidels threw arrows at them till they martyred Aasi m along with six other men; and three men came down accepting their promise and convention; and they were Khubaib AlAnsari and Ibn Dathina and another man So; when the infidels captured them; they undid the strings of their bows and tied them. Then the third of the captives said; This is the first betrayal. By Allah! I will not go with you. No doubt these; namely the martyred; have set a good example to us. So; they dragged him and tried to compel him to accompany them; but as he refused; they killed him. They took Khubaid and Ibn Dathina with them and sold them as slaves in Mecca and all that took place after the battle of Badr. Khubaib was bought by the sons of AlHarith Bin Amir Bin Nawfal Bin Abd Manaf. It was Khubaib who had killed AlHarith Bin Amir on the day of the battle of Badr. So; Khubaib remained a prisoner with those people. Narrated AlZuhri: Ubaidullah Bin Eyad said that the daughter of AlHarith had told him; When those people gathered to kill Khubaib he borrowed a razor from me to shave his pubes and I gave it to him. Then he took a son of mine while I was unaware when he came upon him. I saw him placing my son on his thigh and the razor was in his hand. I got scared so much that Khubaib noticed the agitation on my face and said; Are you afraid that I will kill him? No; I will never do so. By Allah; I never saw a prisoner better than Khubaib. By Allah; one day I saw him eating of a bunch of grapes in his hand while he was chained in irons; and there was no fruit at that time in Mecca. The daughter of AlHarith used to say; It was a boon Allah bestowed upon Khubaib. When they took him out of the Sanctuary of Mecca to kill him outside its boundaries; Khubaib requested them to let him offer two rakat prayer. They allowed him and he offered Two rakat and then said; Hadnt I been afraid that you would think that I was afraid of being killed ; I would have prolonged the prayer. O Allah; kill them all with no exception. He then recited the poetic verse :- I being martyred as a Muslim; Do not mind how I am killed in Allah Cause; For my killing is for Allah Sake; And if Allah wishes; He will bless the amputated parts of a torn body Then the son of AlHarith killed him. So; it was Khubaib who set the tradition for any Muslim sentenced to death in captivity; to offer a two-rakat prayer before being killed. Allah fulfilled the invocation of Aasi m Bin Thabit on that very day on which he was martyred. The Prophet ﷺ informed his companions of their news and what had happened to them. Later on when some infidels from Quraish were informed that Aasi m had been killed; they sent some people to fetch a part of his body i.e. his head by which he would be recognized. That was because Aasi m had killed one of their chiefs on the day of the battle of Badr. So; a swarm of wasps; resembling a shady cloud; were sent to hover over Aasi m and protect him from their messenger and thus they could not cut off anything from his flesh. | The Chapter on Killing And Martyrs in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The performance of a two Raka Salat before being put to death in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6391 | Narrated AlBara: Allah Messenger ﷺ sent Abdullah Bin Atik and Abdullah Bin Utba with a group of men to Abu Rafi to kill him. They proceeded till they approached his castle; whereupon Abdullah Bin Atik said to them; Wait here ; and in the meantime I will go and see. Abdullah said later on; I played a trick in order to enter the castle. By chance; they lost a donkey of theirs and came out carrying a flaming light to search for it. I was afraid that they would recognize me; so I covered my head and legs and pretended to answer the call to nature. The gatekeeper called; Whoever wants to come in; should come in before I close the gate. So I went in and hid myself in a stall of a donkey near the gate of the castle. They took their supper with Abu Rafi and had a chat till late at night. Then they went back to their homes. When the voices vanished and I no longer detected any movement; I came out. I had seen where the gate-keeper had kept the key of the castle in a hole in the wall. I took it and unlocked the gate of the castle; saying to myself; If these people should notice me; I will run away easily. Then I locked all the doors of their houses from outside while they were inside; and ascended to Abu Rafi by a staircase. I saw the house in complete darkness with its light off; and I could not know where the man was. So I called; O Abu Rafi! He replied; Who is it? I proceeded towards the voice and hit him. He cried loudly but my blow was futile. Then I came to him; pretending to help him; saying with a different tone of my voice; What is wrong with you; O Abu Rafi? He said; Are you not surprised? Woe on your mother! A man has come to me and hit me with a sword! So again I aimed at him and hit him; but the blow proved futile again; and on that Abu Rafi cried loudly and his wife got up. I came again and changed my voice as if I were a helper; and found Abu Rafi lying straight on his back; so I drove the sword into his belly and bent on it till I heard the sound of a bone break. Then I came out; filled with astonishment and went to the staircase to descend; but I fell down from it and got my leg dislocated. I bandaged it and went to my companions limping. I said to them ; Go and tell Allah Messenger ﷺ of this good news; but I will not leave this place till I hear the news of his i.e. Abu Rafis death. When dawn broke; an announcer of death got over the wall and announced; I convey to you the news of Abu Rafi death. I got up and proceeded without feeling any pain till I caught up with my companions before they reached the Prophet ﷺ to whom I conveyed the good news. | The Chapter on Recitations And Poetry And Alquran And Remembrance in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The killing of Ab Rafi Abdullah Bin Abi AlHuqaiq in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6441 | Narrated Aisha: Abu Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ to allow him to go out of Mecca when he was greatly annoyed by the infidels. But the Prophet ﷺ said to him; Wait. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Do you hope that you will be allowed to migrate ? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I hope so. So Abu Bakr waited for him till one day Allah Messenger ﷺ came at noon time and addressed him saying Let whoever is present with you; now leave you. Abu Bakr said; None is present but my two daughters. The Prophet ﷺ said; Have you noticed that I have been allowed to go out to migrate ? Abu Bakr said; O Allah Apostle; I would like to accompany you. The Prophet ﷺ said; You will accompany me. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have got two camels which I had prepared and kept ready for our going out. So he gave one of the two camels to the Prophet ﷺ and it was AlJada. They both rode and proceeded till they reached the Cave at the mountain of Thaur where they hid themselves. Amir Bin Fuhaira was the slave of Abdullah Bin AlTufail Bin Sakhbara Aisha brother from her mother side. Abu Bakr had a milch camel. Amir used to go with it i.e. the milch camel in the afternoon and come back to them before noon by setting out towards them in the early morning when it was still dark and then he would take it to the pasture so that none of the shepherds would be aware of his job. When the Prophet and Abu Bakr went away from the Cave ; he i.e. Amir too went along with them and they both used to make him ride at the back of their camels in turns till they reached Medina. Amir Bin Fuhaira was martyred on the day of Bir Mauna. Narrated Urwa: When those Muslims at Bir Mauna were martyred and Amr Bin Umaiya AlDamri was taken prisoner; Amir Bin AlTufail; pointing at a killed person; asked Amr; Who is this? Amr Bin Umaiya said to him; He is Amir Bin Fuhaira. Amir Bin AlTufail said; I saw him lifted to the sky after he was killed till I saw the sky between him and the earth; and then he was brought down upon the earth. Then the news of the killed Muslims reached the Prophet ﷺ and he announced the news of their death saying; Your companions of Bir Mauna have been killed; and they have asked their Lord saying; O our Lord! Inform our brothers about us as we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us. So Allah informed them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his companions about them i.e. martyrs of Bir Mauna. On that day; Urwa Bin Asma Bin AlSalt who was one of them; was killed; and Urwa bin AlZubair was named after Urwa Bin Asma and Mundhir bin AlZubair was named after Mundhir Bin Amr who had also been martyred on that day. | The Chapter on Live Stock And Wolves And Shephards in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Ghazwa of AlRaji Ril Dhakwan and Bir Mauna and the narration about Khubaib and his companions in Sahih AlBukhari

AlZubair said; I. The Prophet ﷺ again said; Who will bring us the news of the people? AlZubair said; I. The Prophet ﷺ again said; Who will bring us the news of the people? AlZubair said; I. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6670 | Narrated Anas Bin Malik: When it was the day of the battle of Hunain; the tributes of Hawazin and Ghatafan and others; along with their animals and offspring and wives came to fight against the Prophet ﷺ The Prophet ﷺ had with him; ten thousand men and some of the Tulaqa. The companions fled; leaving the Prophet ﷺ alone. The Prophet then made two calls which were clearly distinguished from each other. He turned right and said; O the group of Ansar! They said; Labbaik; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Rejoice; for we are with you! Then he turned left and said; O the group of Ansar! They said; Labbaik! O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Rejoice; for we are with you! The Prophet ﷺ at that time; was riding on a white mule; then he dismounted and said; I am Allah Slave and His Apostle. The infidels then were defeated; and on that day the Prophet ﷺ gained a large amount of booty which he distributed amongst the Muhajirin and the Tulaqa and did not give anything to the Ansar. The Ansar said; When there is a difficulty; we are called; but the booty is given to other than us. The news reached the Prophet ﷺ and he gathered them in a leather tent and said; What is this news reaching me from you; O the group of Ansar? They kept silent; He added; O the group of Ansar! Wont you be happy that the people take the worldly things and you take Allah Messenger ﷺ to your homes reserving him for yourself? They said; Yes. Then the Prophet said; If the people took their way through a valley; and the Ansar took their way through a mountain pass; surely; I would take the Ansar mountain pass. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6682 | Narrated Abu Saeed AlKhudri: Ali Bin Abi Talib sent a piece of gold not yet taken out of its ore; in a tanned leather container to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Allah Messenger ﷺ distributed that amongst four Persons: Uyaina Bin Badr; Aqra Bin HAbis; Zaid AlKhail and the fourth was either Alqama or Amir Bin AlTufail. On that; one of his companions said; We are more deserving of this gold than these persons. When that news reached the Prophet ﷺ ; he said; Dont you trust me though I am the truth worthy man of the One in the Heavens; and I receive the news of Heaven i.e. Divine Inspiration both in the morning and in the evening? There got up a man with sunken eyes; raised cheek bones; raised forehead; a thick beard; a shaven head and a waist sheet that was tucked up and he said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Be afraid of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said; Woe to you! Am I not of all the people of the earth the most entitled to fear Allah? Then that man went away. Khalid Bin AlWahd said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Shall I chop his neck off? The Prophet ﷺ said; No; for he may offer prayers. Khalid said; Numerous are those who offer prayers and say by their tongues i.e. mouths what is not in their hearts. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; I have not been ordered by Allah to search the hearts of the people or cut open their bellies. Then the Prophet looked at him i.e. that man while the latter was going away and said; From the offspring of this man there will come out people who will recite the Quran continuously and elegantly but it will not exceed their throats. They will neither understand it nor act upon it. They would go out of the religion i.e. Islam as an arrow goes through a game body. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7015 | Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet ﷺ said; When Allah has ordained some affair in the Heaven; the angels beat with their wings in obedience to His statement; which sounds like a chain dragged over a rock. Ali and other sub-narrators said; The sound reaches them. Until when fear is banished from their angels hearts; they angels say; What was it that your Lord said? They say; The truth; And He is the Most High; the Most Great. 34.23 Then those who gain a hearing by stealing i.e. devils will hear Allah Statement:- Those who gain a hearing by stealing; stand one over the other like this. Sufyan; to illustrate this; spread the fingers of his right hand and placed them one over the other horizontally. A flame may overtake and burn the eavesdropper before conveying the news to the one below him; or it may not overtake him till he has conveyed it to the one below him; who in his turn; conveys it to the one below him; and so on till they convey the news to the earth. Or probably Sufyan said; Till the news reaches the earth. Then the news is inspired to a sorcerer who would add a hundred lies to it. His prophecy will prove true as far as the heavenly news is concerned. The people will say. Didnt he tell us that on such-and-such a day; such-and-such a thing will happen? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7071 | Narrated Aisha: When there was said about me what was said which I myself was unaware of; Allah Messenger ﷺ got up and addressed the people. He recited Tashah-hud; and after glorifying and praising Allah as He deserved; he said; To proceed: O people Give me your opinion regarding those people who made a forged story against my wife. By Allah; I do not know anything bad about her. By Allah; they accused her of being with a man about whom I have never known anything bad; and he never entered my house unless I was present there; and whenever I went on a journey; he went with me. Saad Bin Muadh got up and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ Allow me to chop their heads off. Then a man from the AlKhazraj Saad Bin Ubada to whom the mother of the poet Hassan Bin Thabit was a relative; got up and said to Saad Bin Muadh ; You have told a lie! By Allah; if those persons were from the Aus Tribe; you would not like to chop their heads off. It was probable that some evil would take place between the Aus and the Khazraj in the Masjid; and I was unaware of all that. In the evening of that day; I went out for some of my needs i.e. to relieve myself ; and Um Mistah was accompanying me. On our return; Um Mistah stumbled and said; Let Mistah. be ruined I said to her; O mother Why do you abuse your Son On that Um Mistah became silent for a while; and stumbling again; she said; Let Mistah be ruined I said to her; Why do you abuse your son? She stumbled for the third time and said; Let Mistah be ruined whereupon I rebuked her for that. She said; By Allah; I do not abuse him except because of you. I asked her; Concerning what of my affairs? So she disclosed the whole story to me. I said; Has this really happened? She replied; Yes; by Allah. I returned to my house; astonished and distressed that I did not know for what purpose I had gone out. Then I became sick fever and said to Allah Messenger ﷺ Send me to my father house. So he sent a slave with me; and when I entered the house; I found Um Rum-an my mother downstairs while my father Abu Bakr was reciting something upstairs. My mother asked; What has brought you; O my daughter? I informed her and mentioned to her the whole story; but she did not feel it as I did. She said; O my daughter! Take it easy; for there is never a charming lady loved by her husband who has other wives but that they feel jealous of her and speak badly of her. But she did not feel the news as I did. I asked her ; Does my father know about it? She said; yes I asked; Does Allah Messenger ﷺ know about it too? She said; Yes; Allah Messenger ﷺ does too. So the tears filled my eyes and I wept. Abu Bakr; who was reading upstairs heard my voice and came down and asked my mother; What is the matter with her? She said; She has heard what has been said about her as regards the story of Allfk. On that Abu Bakr wept and said; I beseech you by Allah; O my daughter; to go back to your home. I went back to my home and Allah Messenger ﷺ had come to my house and asked my maid-servant about me my character. The maid-servant said; By Allah; I do not know of any defect in her character except that she sleeps and let the sheep enter her house and eat her dough. On that; some of the Prophet companions spoke harshly to her and said; Tell the truth to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Finally they told her of the affair of the slander. She said; Subhan Allah! By Allah; I know nothing against her except what goldsmith knows about a piece of pure gold. Then this news reached the man who was accused; and he said; Subhan Allah! By Allah; I have never uncovered the private parts of any woman. Later that man was martyred in Allah Cause. Next morning my parents came to pay me a visit and they stayed with me till Allah Messenger ﷺ came to me after he had offered the Asr prayer. He came to me while my parents were sitting around me on my right and my left. He praised and glorified Allah and said; Now then O Aisha! If you have committed a bad deed or you have wronged yourself ; then repent to Allah as Allah accepts the repentance from his slaves. An AlAnsari woman had come and was sitting near the gate. I said to the Prophet. Isnt it improper that you speak in such a way in the presence of this lady? Allah Apostle then gave a piece of advice and I turned to my father and requested him to answer him on my behalf. My father said; What should I say? Then I turned to my mother and asked her to answer him. She said; What should I say? When my parents did not give a reply to the Prophet; I said; I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah; and that Muhammad is His Apostle! And after praising and glorifying Allah as He deserves; I said; Now then; by Allah; if I were to tell you that I have not done this evil action and Allah is a witness that I am telling the truth; that would not be of any use to me on your part because you people have spoken about it and your hearts have absorbed it; and if I were to tell you that I have done this sin and Allah knows that I have not done it; then you will say; She has confessed herself guilty. By Allah; I do not see a suitable example for me and you but the example of I tried to remember Jacob name but couldnt Joseph father when he said; So for me Patience is most fitting against that which you assert. It is Allah alone whose help can be sought. At that very hour the Divine Inspiration came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and we remained silent. Then the Inspiration was over and I noticed the signs of happiness on his face while he was removing the sweat from his forehead and saying; Have the good tidings O Aisha! Allah has revealed your innocence. At that time I was extremely angry. My parents said to me. Get up and go to him. I said; By Allah; I will not do it and will not thank him nor thank either of you; but I will thank Allah Who has revealed my innocence. You have heard this story but neither did not deny it nor change it to defend me ; Aisha used to say: But as regards Zainab bint Jahsh; the Prophet wife ; Allah protected her because of her piety; so she did not say anything except good about me ; but her sister; Hamna; was ruined among those who were ruined. Those who used to speak evil about me were Mistah; Hassan Bin Thabit; and the hypocrite; Abdullah Bin Ubai; who used to spread that news and tempt others to speak of it; and it was he and Hamna who had the greater share therein. Abu Bakr took an oath that he would never do any favor to Mistah at all. Then Allah revealed the Divine Verse: Let not those among you who are good and wealthy i.e. Abu Bakr swear not to give any sort of help to their kinsmen; and those in need; i.e. Mistah...Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving; Most Merciful. 24.22 On that; Abu Bakr said; Yes; by Allah; O our Lord! We wish that You should forgive us. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7224 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: For the whole year I had the desire to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab regarding the explanation of a Verse in Surat AlTahrim but I could not ask him because I respected him very much. When he went to perform the Hajj; I too went along with him. On our return; while we were still on the way home. Umar went Aasi de to answer the call of nature by the Arak trees. I waited till he finished and then I proceeded with him and asked him. O chief of the Believers! Who were the two wives of the Prophet ﷺ who aided one another against him? He said; They were Hafsa and Aisha. Then I said to him; By Allah; I wanted to ask you about this a year ago; but I could not do so owing to my respect for you. Umar said; Do not refrain from asking me. If you think that I have knowledge about a certain matter ; ask me; and if I know something about it ; I will tell you. Then Umar added; By Allah; in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance we did not pay attention to women until Allah revealed regarding them what He revealed regarding them and assigned for them what He has assigned. Once while I was thinking over a certain matter; my wife said; I recommend that you do so-and-so. I said to her; What have you got to do with the is matter? Why do you poke your nose in a matter which I want to see fulfilled.? She said; How strange you are; O son of AlKhattab! You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter; Hafsa surely; argues with Allah Messenger ﷺ so much that he remains angry for a full day! Umar then reported; how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her; O my daughter! Do you argue with Allah Messenger ﷺ so that he remains angry the whole day? H. afsa said; By Allah; we argue with him. Umar said; Know that I warn you of Allah punishment and the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ... O my daughter! Dont be betrayed by the one who is proud of her beauty because of the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her i.e. Aisha. Umar addled; Then I went out to Umm Salamah house who was one of my relatives; and I talked to her. She said; O son of AlKhattab! It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything; you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives! By Allah; by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger. I left her and went home. At that time I had a friend from the Ansar who used to bring news from the Prophet in case of my absence; and I used to bring him the news if he was absent. In those days we were afraid of one of the kings of Ghassan tribe. We heard that he intended to move and attack us; so fear filled our hearts because of that. One day my Ansari friend unexpectedly knocked at my door; and said; Open Open! I said; Has the king of Ghassan come? He said; No; but something worse; Allah Messenger ﷺ has isolated himself from his wives. I said; Let the nose of Aisha and Hafsa be stuck to dust i.e. humiliated ! Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah Messenger ﷺ residence; and behold; he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder; and a black slave of Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting on the first step. I said to him; Say to the Prophet ﷺ Umar Bin AlKhattab is here. Then the Prophet ﷺ admitted me and I narrated the story to Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I reached the story of Umm Salamah ; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled while he was lying on a mat made of palm tree leaves with nothing between him and the mat. Underneath his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibres; and leaves of a saut tree were piled at his feet; and above his head hung a few water skins. On seeing the marks of the mat imprinted on his side; I wept. He said. Why are you weeping? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7232 | Narrated Ibn Abbas: Allah Messenger ﷺ went out along with a group of his companions towards Ukaz Market. At that time something intervened between the devils and the news of the Heaven; and flames were sent down upon them; so the devils returned. Their fellow-devils said; What is wrong with you? They said; Something has intervened between us and the news of the Heaven; and fires flames have been shot at us. Their fellow-devils said; Nothing has intervened between you and the news of the Heaven; but an important event has happened. Therefore; travel all over the world; east and west; and try to find out what has happened. And so they set out and travelled all over the world; east and west; looking for that thing which intervened between them and the news of the Heaven. Those of the devils who had set out towards Tihama; went to Allah Messenger ﷺ at Nakhla a place between Mecca and Taif while he was on his way to Ukaz Market. They met him while he was offering the Fajr prayer with his companions. When they heard the Holy Quran being recited by Allah Messenger ﷺ ; they listened to it and said to each other. This is the thing which has intervened between you and the news of the Heavens. Then they returned to their people and said; O our people! We have really heard a wonderful recital Quran. SahihMuslim-017-001-17895 | It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Busaisah as a scout to see what the caravan of Abu Sufyan was doing. He came back and met the Prophet in his house where there was nobody except myself and the Messenger of Allah. I do not remember whether he Hadrat Anas made an exception of some wives of the Prophet ﷺ or not and told him the news of the caravan. Having heard the news ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out hurriedly ; spoke to the people and said: We are in need of men ; whoever has an animal to ride upon ready with him should ride with us. People began to ask him permission for bringing their riding animals which were grazing on the hillocks near Medina. He said: No. I want only those who have their riding animals ready. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions proceeded towards Badr and reached there forestalling the polytheists of Mecca. When the polytheists also reached there; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: None of you should step forward to do anything unless I am ahead of him. The polytheists now advanced towards us ; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. Get up to enter Paradise which is equal in width to the heavens and the earth. Umair Bin AlHumam AlAnsari said: Messenger of Allah; is Paradise equal in extent to the heavens and the earth? He said: Yes. Umair said: My goodness! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him: What prompted you to utter these words i. e. my goodness! ? He said: Messenger of Allah; nothing but the desire that I be among its residents. He said: Thou art surely amona its residents. He took out dates from his bag and began to eat them. Then he said: If I were to live until I have eaten all these dates of mine; it would be a long life. The narrator said : He threw away all the dates he had with him. SahihMuslim-017-001-17897 | It has been reported on the authority of Anas Bin Malik that some people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said to him: Send with us some men who may teach us the Quran and the Sunnah. Accordingjy; he sent seventy men from the Ansar. They were called the Reciters and among them was my maternal uncle. Haram. They used to recite the Quran; discuss and ponder over its meaning at night. In the day they brought water and poured it in pitchers in the Masjid; collected wood and sold it; and with the sale proceeds bought food for the people of the Suffa and the needy. The Prophet ﷺ sent the Reciters with these people; but these treacherous people fell upon them and killed thern before they reached their destination While dying ; they said: O Allah; convey from us the news to our Prophet that we have met Thee in a way that we are pleased with Thee and Thou art pleased with us. The narrator said : A man attacked Haram maternal uncle of Anas from behind and smote him with a spear which pierced him. While dying ; Haram said: By the Lord of the Kaba; I have met with success. SahihMuslim-017-001-18104 | It has been narrated by Ibrahim AlTaimi on the authority of his father who said: We were sitting in the company of Hudhaifa. A man said: If I were in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I would have fought by his side and would have striven hard for his causes. Hudhaifa said: You might have done that; but you should not make a flourish of your enthusiasm. I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the Battle of Abzib and we were gripped by a violent wind and severe cold. The Messenger of Allah may peace be him said: Hark; the man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. We all kept quiet and none of us responed to him. Again he said: Hark; a man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgment by Allah the Glorious and Exalted. We kept quiet and none of us responded to him. He again said: Hark; a man who goes reconnoitring and brings me the news of the enemy shall be ranked with me on the Day of Judgtuent by Allah the Glorious and Exalted Then he said: Get up Hudhaifa; bring me the news of the enemy. When he called me by name I had no alternative but to get up. He said: Go and bring me information about the enemy; and do nothing that may provoke them against me. When I left him; I felt warm as if I were walking in a heated bath untill I reached them. I saw Abu Sufyan warming his back against fire I put an arrow in the middle of the bow. intending to shoot at him; when I recalled the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ Do not provoke them against me. Had I shot at him; I would have hit him. But I returned and felt warm as if I were walking in a heated bath hammam. Presenting myself before him; I gave him information about the enemy. When I had done so; I began to feel cold; so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wrapped me in a blanket that he had in excess to his own requirement and with which he used to cover himself while saying his prayers. So I continued to sleep until it was morning. When it was morning he said: Get up; O heavy sleeper. | The Chapter on Enemies And Groups And Killing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 36 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-19386 | AIsha reported: When I came under discussion what the people had to say about me; Allah Messenger ﷺ stood up for delivering an address and he recited tashahhud I bear witness to the fact that iheie is no god but Allah and praised Allah; lauded Him what He rightly deserves and then said: Coming to the point. Give me an advice about them who have brought false charge about my family. By Allah; I know no evil in the members of my family and the person in connection with whom the false charge is being levelled; I know no evil in him too. And he never entered my house but in my presence and when I was away on a journey; he remained with me even in that. The rest of the hadith is the same but with this change that Allah Messenger ﷺ came to my house and asked my maidservant and she said: By Allah; I know no fault in her but this that she sleeps; and goat comes and eats the kneaded flour. Some of the Companions of the Holy Prophet scolded her and said: State the fact before Allah Messenger ﷺ and they even made a pointed reference to this incident. She said: gallowed be Allah. By Allah; I know about her as does the jeweller know about the pure piece of gold. And when this news reached the person in connection with whom the allegation was made he said: Hallowed be Allah. By Allah; I have never unveiled any woman. Aisha said: He fell as a martyr in the cause of Allah; and there is this addition in this hadith that the people who had brought false allegation amongst them were Mistah and Hamna and Hassan. And so far as the hypocrite Abdullah Bin Ubay is concerned; he was one who tried his best to gather the false news and then gave them the wind. And he was in fact a fabricator and there was Hamna; daughter of Jahsh with him. | The Chapter on Parents And Greetings in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 10 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20567 | Abdullah reported that Allah had cursed those women who tattooed and who have themselves tattooed; those who pluck hair from their faces and those who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created. This news reached a woman of the tribe of Asad who was called Umm Yaqub and she used to recite the Holy Quran. She came to him and said: What is this news that has reached me from you that you curse those women who tattooed and those women who have themselves tattooed; the women who pluck hair from their faces and who make spaces between their teeth for beautification changing what God has created? Thereupon Abdullah said: Should I not curse one upon whom Allah Messenger ﷺ has invoked curse and that is in the Book also. Thereupon that woman said: I read the Quran from cover to cover; but I did not find that in it. whereupon he said: If you had read thoroughly you would have definitely found this in that as Allah; the Exalted and Glorious; has said: What Allah Messenger brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you; refrain from that. That woman said: I find this thing in your wife even now. Thereupon he said: Go and see her. She reported: I went to the wife of Abdullah but found nothing of this sort in her. She came back to him and said: I have not seen anything. whereupon he said: Had there been anything like it in her; I would have never slept with her in the bed. | The Chapter on Grooming The Pubic Hear And Plucking in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 33 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-20775 | Jarir Bin Abdullah AlBajali said: Allah Messenger ﷺ said to me: Cant on rid me of DhuI-Khalasah; the idol-house of Khatham; and this idol-house was called the Yamanite Kaba. So I went along with 150 horsemen and I could not sit with steadfastness upon the horse. I made the mention of it to Allah Messenger ﷺ and he struck his hand on my chest and said: O Allah; grant him steadfastness and make him the guide of righteousness and the rightly-guided one. So he went away and he set fire to it. Then Jarir sent some person to Allah Messenger ﷺ whose Kunya was Abu Arta to give him the happy news about that. He came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: I have not come to you but with the news that we have left Dhu AlKhalasa as a scabed camel. SahihMuslim-017-001-21517 | Abdullah Bin Abbas Allah be pleased with tlicm reported: I intended to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab Allah be pleased with him about a verse; but I waited for one year to ask him out of his fear; until he went out for Pilgrimage and I also accompanied him. As he came back and we were on the way he stepped Aasi de towards an Arak tree to ease himself. I waited for him until he was free. I then walked along with him and said: Commander of the Faithful; who are the two among the wives of Allah Messenger ﷺ who backed up one another in their demand for extra money ? He said: They were Hafsa and Aisha Allah be pleased with them. I said to him: It is for one year that I intended to ask you about this matter but I could not date so on account of the awe for you. He said: Dont do that. If you think that I have any knowledge; do ask me about that. And if I were to know that; I would inform you. He the narrator stated that Umar had said: By Allah; during the days of ignorance we had no regard for women until Allah the Exalt- ed revealed about them what He has revealed; and appointed turn for them what he appointed. He said: It so happened that I was thinking about some matter that my wife said: I wish you had done that and that. I said to her: It does not concern you and you should not feel disturbed in a matter which I intend to do. She said to me: How strange is it that you; O son of AlKhattab; do not like anyone to retort upon you; whereas your daughter retorts upon Allah Messenger may peace be upou him until he spends the day in vexation. Umar said: I took hold of my cloak; then came out of my house until I visited Hafsa and said to her: O daughter; I heard that you retort upon Allah Messenger ﷺ until he spends the day in vexation; whereupon Hafsa said: By Allah; we do retort upon him. I said: You should bear in mind; my daughter; that I warn you against the punishment of Allah and the wrath of His Messenger ﷺ. You may not be misled by one whose beauty has fascinated her; and the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her. I Umar then visited Umm Salamah because of my relationship with her and I talked to her. Umm Salamah said to me: Umar Bin AlKhattab; how strange is it that you meddle with every matter so much so that you are anxious to interfere between Allah Messenger ﷺ and his wives; and this perturbed me so much that I refrained from saying what I had to say; so I came out of her apartment; and I had a friend from the Anar. When I had been absent from the company of the Holy Prophet he used to bring me the news and when he had been absent I used to bring him the news; and at that time we dreaded a king of Ghassan. It was mentioned to us that he intended to attack us; and our minds were haunted by him. My friend; the Ansari; came to me; and he knocked at the door and said: Open it; open it. I said: Has the Ghassani come? He said: The matter is more serious than that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has separated himself from his wives. I said: Let the nose of Hafsa and Aisha be besmeared with dust. I then took hold of my cloth and went out until I came and found Allah Messenger ﷺ in his attic to which he climbed by means of a ladder made of date-palm; and the servant of Allah Messenger ﷺ who was black had been sitting at the end of the ladder. I said: This is Umar. So permission was granted to me. I narrated this news to Allah Messenger ﷺ and as I narrated the news concerning Umm Salamah; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled. He was lying on the mat and there was nothing between him and that mat ; and under his head there was a pillow made of leather and it was stuffed with plam fibres and at his feet were lying a heap of sant tree acacia niloctica; meant for dyeing and near his head there was hanging a hide. And I saw the marks of the maton the side of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; and so I wept. He said: What makes you weep? I said: Messenger of Allah; the Khusrau and the Ceasars spendd their lives in the midst of luxuries ; whereas you being Allah Messenger are leading your life in this poverty. Thereupon Allah Messenger ﷺ said: Dont you like that they should have riches of their world; and you have the Hereafter. | The Chapter on Parents And Alhajj in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on 5 in Sahih Muslim
SahihMuslim-017-001-23477 | Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ neither recited the Quran to the Jinn nor did he see them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with some of his Companions with the intention of going to the bazaar of Ukaz And there had been at that time obstructions between satans and the news from the Heaven; and there were flung flames upon them. So satan went back to their people and they said: What has happened to you? They said: There have been created obstructions between us and the news from the Heaven. And there have been flung upon us flames. They said: It cannot happen but for some important event. So traverse the eastern parts of the earth and the western parts and find out why is it that there have been created obstructions between us and the news from the Heaven. So they went forth and traversed the easts of the earth and its wests. Some of them proceeded towards Tihama and that is a nakhl towards the bazaar of Ukaz and he the Holy Prophet was leading his Companions in the morning prayer. So when they heard the Quran. they listened to it attentively and said: It is this which has caused obstruction between us and news from the Heaven. They went back to their people and said: O our people; we have heard a strange Quran which directs us to the right path; so we affirm our faith in it and we would never associate anyone with our Lord. SunanAlTermithi-017-001-10046 | Narrated Imran Bin Hosain: We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing... up to His saying: but Allah torment is severe 21:1 & 2. When his Companions heard that; they hastened to catch up with him; since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam; send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions; he said: Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad; you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Yajuj and Majuj; and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis. He said: So some of the people grief went away; and he ﷺ said: Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! SunanAlNasai-017-001-13102 | Muslim Bin Yasar and Abdullah Bin Ubaid said: Ubadah Bin AlSamit and Muawiyah met at a stopping place on the road. Ubadah said: The Messenger of Allah forbade us to sell gold for gold; silver for silver; wheat for wheat; barley for barley; dates for dates - one of them said: salt for salt; but the other did not say unless it was equal amount for equal amount; like for like. One of them said: Whoever gives more or takes more has engaged in Riba; but the other one did not say it. And the commanded us to sell gold for silver and silver for gold; and wheat for barley and barley for wheat; hand to hand; however we wanted. News of this hadith reached Muawiyah and he stood up and said: What is the matter with men who narrate Hadiths from the Messenger of Allah when we accompanied him and we never heard him say it? News of that reached Ubadah Bin AlSamit and he stood up and repeated the Hadith; then he said: We will narrate what we heard from the Messenger of Allah; whether Muawiyah likes it or not. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-26038 | Fatimah; daughter of Qais; said: I heard the crier of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ calling : Assemble for the prayer. I Then came out and prayed along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer; he sat on the pulpit laughing; and he said : Everyone should remain where he had said his prayer. He then asked : Do you know why I have assembled you? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He ﷺ said: I did not call you together fors some alarming news or for something good. Rather; I called you all because Tamim AlDari; a Christian; who came and accepted Islam; told me something which agrees with what I was telling you about the Dajjal. He told me that he sailed with thirty men of Lakhm and Judham and that they were storm-tossed for a month. They drew near to an island when the sun was setting. They sat in a boat nearest to them and entered the island where they were met by a very hairy beast. They said: Woe to you! What can you be ? It replied : I am the Jassasah. Go to this man in the monastery; for he is anxious to get news of you. He said : When it named a man to us we were afraid of it lest it should be a devil. So we went off quickly and entered the monastery; where we found a man with the hugest and strongest frame we had ever seen with his hands chained to his neck. He then narrated the rest of the tradition. He asked them about the palm-trees of Baisan and the spring of Zughar and about the unlettered prophet. He said: I am the messiah the Antichrist and will be soon given permission to emerge. And the Prophet ﷺ said: He is in the Syrian sea or the Yemeni sea: No; on the contrary; it is towards the east that he is. He said it twice and pointed his hand to the east. MuwataMalik-017-001-35242 | Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya Ibn Said from Said Ibn AlMusayab that Umar Ibn AlKhattab said; The woman who loses her husband and does not know where he is; waits for four years; then she does idda for four months; and then she is free to marry. Malik said; If she marries after her idda is over; regardless of whether the new husband has consummated the marriage or not; her first husband has no means of access to her. Malik said; That is what is done among us and if her husband reaches her before she has remarried; he is more entitled to her. Malik said that he had seen people disapproving of someone who said that one of the people of knowledge attributed to Umar Ibn AlKhattab that he said; Her first husband chooses when he comes either her bride-price or his wife. Malik said; I have heard that Umar Ibn AlKhattab; speaking about a woman whose husband divorced her while he was absent from her; and then he took her back and the news of his taking her back had not reached her; while the news of his divorcing her had; and so she had married again; said; Her first husband who divorced her has no means of access to her whether or not the new husband has consummated the marriage. So the man went around among the slain; and Sad Ibn AlRabi said to him; What are you doing? MuwataMalik-017-001-35483 | Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard that once in the time of Uthman Ibn Affan the new moon had been seen in the afternoon and Uthman did not break his fast until evening had come and the sun had set. Yahya said that he had heard Malik say that some one who sees the new moon of Ramadan when he is on his own should start the fast and not break it if he knows that that day is part of Ramadan. He added; Some one who sees the new moon of Shawal when he is on his own does not break the fast; because people suspect the reliability of someone among them who breaks the fast. Such people should say; when they sight the new moon; We have seen the new moon. Whoever sees the new moon of Shawal during the day should not break his fast but should continue fasting for the rest of that day. This is because it is really the new moon of the night that is coming. Yahya said that he heard Malik say; If people are fasting on the day of Fitr thinking that it is still Ramadan and then definite evidence comes to them that the new moon of Ramadan had been seen one day before they began to fast and that they are now into the thirty- first day; then they should break the fast on that day at whatever time the news comes to them.
